They have a smooth and efficient plan for COVID safe practices. Beer is as always top notch.

I am sad all these years later to see no sign of the Scotsman any more. It was an iconic logo and it should have stayed. But in terms of guest experience 5 stars. This local native misses the Scotsman.

I am very impressed with this venue and how the staff took care of every single individual at last night's show of Gary Clark Jr. What a team. There were no fights I saw. There was so many people there and not one negative vibe. Hands down to y'all I'm so impressed. For once I didn't have to mother anyone or feel a sense of anyone not being ok. Y'all rock

The beer is great, but man the music is loud. I couldn't even have a conversation it was so loud. I would highly recommend going when music is not happening, unless music is your reason for going. The campus is great and I'm sure the roof top bar is fabulous (I haven't been yet).

A large, inviting taproom with a great vibe, and great core and seasonal beers on tap. Add to that the front outside deck and rooftop bar and you've got several areas to relax with friends and enjoy some great AVL craft beer.

During these uncertain times of Covid-19 Highland ...

During these uncertain times of Covid-19 Highland does such a great job at keeping everything clean and social distancing professional. Plenty of parking and designated steps to keep us all safe. We choose to sit outside on their patio but they boast a large indoor tap room where we have seen live music before and a rooftop deck with amazing views of the mountains and sunsets. (Note some outside areas or events aren t available with current Covid-19 measures in place.) Not to be left out there s also a great outdoor grassy meadows area where we have had the pleasures of hearing live music and events in the past. The entire area seems very family friendly and plenty of options no matter the preference. There was also a local food truck the day we swung by and this is pretty common when they are open to have at least one onsite. Highland has the honor of being the oldest and also therefore the first craft brewer in the Asheville area since 1994 and their dedication to the brews show it. We had our go to beers such as the Avl Ipa s etc but their small batch brews are always the best. Can t say enough about the Hazy As Hail a great Hazy IPA very well balanced and juicy. Also even though the day was very warm for our area I had to try the Kiss Me, I m Irish dry nitro stout. It was well worth it! Can t say enough of how impressed I am by the consideration and thoughtfulness of this place and the great brews. Cheers!!!

Bet I would have had fun here if my tour didn't get canceled. It wasnt just the cancelation it was the fact that they never informed me otherwise. So me, booking weeks in advance, having a tour for 6:30 shows up to only be turned away because they were closed for a concert. I rushed through my time at New Belgium (awesome by the way, ask for a tour with Michael), planned my day around the tour time, and drove to the location. Again, if I had an email or call that would have been one thing. Thier phone was down for the event so I couldn't call them. Also, thier website only mentioned thier taproom was closed (only could be seen when looking for events) and still mentioned everywhere else that normal hours were taking place. It's going to be hard to support a business that doesn't act like a business.

Tasty beer, helpful and knowledgeable staff, groovy space, a great place to hang out! They have small batch beers exclusive to the brewery, and you can buy a flight to try several. The tour is free (but please tip your guide) and it is absolutely awesome! Our guide was personable, knowledgeable, fun, and answered all of our questions. : )

I love Highland Brewing beers! First time at the brewery itself. Was very disappointed in the staff. The bartender had to check a paper list of the beers characteristics when asked about them, then ultimately led me to wring the wrong beer. Would have thought that a brewery that has such passion about its brews wouldn t train their staff better to know what they are serving. Not impressed at the brewery.

What's not to love? Great beer. Great layout - especially love the rooftop bar. Great ambiance. Great decor. Superior service. I could go on and on.
There's a reason I stop by Highland every time I'm in Asheville - they have fantastic beer and service that makes me feel like my patronage is appreciated. I would (and do) recommend Highland to just about everyone (that I don't despise). Exceptionally dog friendly, which makes the experience even better. They'll continue to get my business, both in-person and when I'm at the beer store.

We had our wedding at Highland Brewing on February 29, 2020.
Marissa and Nikki at Highland are 2 of the greatest vendors we worked with. They were responsive, professional, and worked their butts off to make sure our day was exactly what we wanted. I could not be more appreciative of the two of them. I would choose this venue again in a heartbeat.

There are also numerous places to take pics on the property. I can't wait to get my pictures back!

We could probably write a short story about our be...

We could probably write a short story about our beyond amazing experience with and at Highland Brewing for our wedding. It all began when my (now) husband and I were at Highland for a tour a couple years ago. We walked into the event space as they were setting up for a wedding and we instantly knew that the space was perfect. The main floor of the event space is naturally stunning. The wood accents on the walls, the touch of iron and metal in the space, the chalkboard beer menu, the huge stage, and the bridal SUITE .OMG the bridal suite. I ll get to that in a minute. The mezzanine overlooks the main floor and wraps around beautifully; we chose to do our cocktail hour here for guests after the ceremony while we took photos and that was such a fabulous space to utilize. Move to the third floor and you have the rooftop bar where we had our ceremony, overlooking perfectly placed mountains as our background. Let me say that we barely decorated any of the event space .it was THAT gorgeous on its own. What sold us on Highland for our wedding was the vast amount of space and different types of roaming areas for our guests to move from one level to the next and finally to the main floor for our reception. Every floor served a different purpose and made for simple movement of the crowds while we took photos.
During our 1.5 year engagement, Highland continued to add their own improvements (none were NEEDED but they just kept making the space more attractive) to the space. They added fun and simple hanging lights to the main floor, redid the sound boards on the stage, removed sound boards from the wall which allowed the wooden accents to shine and most importantly, they built a bridal suite. Let me tell you, this is where you and your bridesmaids or groomsmen want to be the final moments before you walk down the aisle. It s private. It s comfortable. It s hidden. There s access to a bathroom. It s simply perfectly placed. Our wedding planner also had a plate of food and beers waiting for my husband and I immediately after the ceremony in the suite so we could take 15 minutes to ourselves and without this space, that would not have been possible. Our guests could not stop complimenting the space. The views, the outdoor feels, indoor beauty, and ample dance space provided for the perfect trio of wedding fun.
Our main contact through the entire process was Nikki and we are forever indebted to her for her out of this world customer service. Nikki helped make our dreams come true. Admittedly, we had very specifics ideas of how we wanted the space to look and Nikki listened, so patiently, and executed beyond what we could have ever imagined. She is a saint and so very talented. Nikki answered almost every question we had on the spot and if she didn t have the answer right then and there, she was in touch with us almost immediately to clarify. Her communication was second to none, her professionalism and spunky, fun demeanor truly helped make our wedding day the best day ever. My husband and I continue to say that we would relive that day any chance we could and we owe a great bit of that to Nikki.

I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for all the kids running around the whole time we were there. They literally need a parents night out located in an adjacent room. Great beer, nice outdoor space.

Really cool building and surrounding area. Sweet Cheesus food truck was there, with some tasty lunch options. Back in the day, some of Jumanji was filmed here, hence the Blue Ridge Motion Pictures on the water tower. Great atmosphere.

The atmosphere at the tap room is pretty awesome. They had beer pong, cornhole, ping pong table all set to play. The beer is down of the best you will find around. We got a brewery tour and the the owner even took time to stop and talk to our group for a bit. I will definitely make a trip back to this place.

Shout out to Highland Brewing for being our GO-TO brewery! We appreciate their safety measures during the pandemic. They have several options for seating indoors, on the patio, or the meadow.
We love the wide range of beer selections plus on-site food trucks.
Keep up the good work!

Ordered beer online on my way to points further west to camp. When I called to pick up in the parking lot staff was super friendly and loaded into my car! Next time I'm in town I will definitely make time to visit their outdoor spaces and try some seasonal goodies.

Overall a good and enjoyable experience! Had a rooftop area that was cool...only a good walk from where you bought a beer...then they didn't have the same beers! What was that all about? Big on wearing a mask the minute you set foot on the rooftop, going to the head or ordering a beer. I will applaud the staff for the determination to conform. Had food truck outside for Mexican...pretty good...tho a bit pricey...but understand.

The best go to brewery in Western North Carolina. Still locally owned and produces some of the finest Craft Beer around. All this and they consistently give back to the community. Perfect for families too.

Fantastic space just outside of downtown Asheville. It was nice to get away from the busier downtown breweries while still enjoying the overall Asheville atmosphere. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating in addition to their delicious beers! A must-go-to if visiting!

SIMPLY PHENOMENAL.

SIMPLY PHENOMENAL.

I wrote Highland brewery back in around 2011-ish simply because I digged their brand & logo, without any hesistation they sent me a little care package all the way to Florida along with an embroided patch (which I LOVE collecting). Naturally, while I was in Asheville, I had to stop by. We were greeted by Alan and well... Hot diggity dog, that man was one hell of a guy! Needless to say, the staff & the ambiance have made me a Highland fan through and through. Thank you guys for everything!!! I will definitely be back.

Love their products and used to love taking my family every week as it was great to have a couple beers and let the kids run in play in the meadow And grab some dinner off of one of the food trucks. Over the last few years(even pre-Covid) it has become less and less family friendly. I went yesterday to meet some work clients. It was totally unenjoyable because of how hardcore they are about masks OUTSIDE. I get it inside, but it was overkill. Won t be back as long as it is this way.

We live near Highland and visit pretty regularly. There's a lot of good beer in Asheville and Highland has its share. It's the bar staff that really makes the difference here. Jay, Tyler and their crew (Kaitlyn, Kevin, Vinnie and Vince) treat us right. That's a big part of what separates Highland from its competition. Upper management take note.

Told the bartenders we were from out of town and this was our first brewery stop and they seems really disinterested in answering our questions. I was very happy they had a local guest cider as I can t drink beer. BF liked the beer, had the hazy session, and we enjoyed the patio.

Craft beer done right. Too often I find local breweries trying too hard to distinguish themselves, with only "experimental" beer on draft. Highlands smartly divides the menu with the year round/seasonal and small batches. Their Gaelic Ale is excellent and one of my favorite beers period.

Great beers and a fun tour. Huge event space. Free samples at the distillery next door on the weekend!

Keep an eye out for any small batch stuff from their pilot brewery on tap - it's usually worth trying.

Also, keep an eye out for the founder on your tour - he often comes over to say hello and he's super nice!

Yesterday, I participated in the Nite Flight 4.5 mile run. It was not my first time, but this year's event was spectacular. When I arrived a live band was on stage (I love live music), and you have sufficient bathroom space (no waiting line). The support for this event exceeded what I am used to, and that's a blessing. Thank you for bringing in enough police officers so that ever time I crossed a street with traffic I felt 100% safe. How did you motivate your residential neighors to come on-board for this run? So many residents were out in front of their home cheering, cooling us down with garden sprinklers, and smiling. My wish is that other organizations in Western North Carolina call you when they want to organize an event that manifests Goodwill and a sense of collective community
