Hickam Bowling Center - U.S. Air Force - MWR Review

It's ok this place is average. The good is pretty good compared to other bowling alleys I've been to and they keep the lanes clean and bowling balls are nice. The shoes looked to be brand new that was a good plus to know you don't have to wear old nasty shoes. I wouldnt reccomend trying to call to reserve lanes or anything. A manager has to take care of that and I called for literally 5 days in a row and he was always gone or either on the phone. I left messages for him and even messages to have him call me back and none of my calls were ever returned. Other than that this bowling alley is fine. Good place for kids.

Love this place. Staff is great. Snack bar has really good food.

Worst experience I've ever had bowling staff was extremely rude and acted like we were inconvenienceing him by trying to bowl. Paid for three games only bowled one. Also if you are expecting typical bowling alley food or pizza or burgers this is not the place to go.

On Hickam Air Force Base, plenty parking, good food, fun and they have beer and drinks.

Terrible. Snack bar closed so couldn't get even a drop of water to drink. Unfriendly staff. Won't be back.

Clean well maintained and not crowded. Just as good as the alley on Schofield.

Decent bowling center, not a much left. This place used to be the cleanest center on the island but, I guess budget cuts cost them a full time janitor. They used to vacuum, shampoo the carpet and mop the floors regularly. They don't do any of that now. The pin spotters were installed 2 or 3 years ago, they are starting to get alot of trouble calls now. Snack bar still has good alley food.

Best bowling location on the island. Lanes are super clean and updated with the latest screens.

Front desk staff was not very courteous. We had fun inspite of his behavior. We suggest playing music to lift his spirits

Just a typical bowling alley. Cosmic bowling starts at 8 p.m. on the weekends. Music plays through the intercom system, so it sounds like it's coming from a phone speaker. Food is the standard run of the mill hot case snacks. The personal pizza was pretty ridiculous bring the size of a bagel. Takes the personal size to a whole new level. Facility was clean though, and the bowling system was newer. Shows speed and stats of all the bowlers.

A nice large bowling alley with 30 lanes and a large parking lot to accommodate. The food is good and the prices are decent. They have lockers for rent for league bowlers, plenty of tables and seating area, and a room that can be used also.

The gentlemen at the front desk was so rude. I tried to get his name but he was not wearing a name tag and the receipt doesn't have the cashiers name. The lady at the food area was really nice though.

Old lanes, friendly staff. Seating is terrible, there are very limited places to sit near the lanes.

service is horrible ! shoe rentals are barely even shoes they are so worn down and just nasty ! their food court doesn t have 3/4 of the stuff on the menu ! two stars cause they have touch screen things for the bowling and they do black light nights .

The food here on Hickam is number one I'm eating there for years and years and will continue to eat there

Lots of parking, and it's great inside. Standard fare, but very inexpensive.

Overall this place is fantastic, needed an 11 pound ball or a size 10 because I have big fingers.

Its a little outdated they didn't have alot of different size balls. The service was great though!

The prices are actually way to high which is keeping my bowling team from returning to this bowling center 15 dollars per hour to bowl compared to 3 dollars a game I believe the prices are set High to prevent people from coming in and bowling

least favorite bowling alley on island . they don t even have 3/4 of their menu . service is poor . it s over priced definitely . only plus is the touch screens and air flow .

I am really disappointed I always call a day ahead to ask about open bowling and I showed up Saturday 1/27 and brought put four families to bowl, but guess what the person answering the phone did not tell me there was a party so no open bowling. Not very professional, communication is key.
A sign on the door is not going to be good enough to let people know what is going on.

Probably one of the best bowing allies in Hawaii. Never too crowded. The lanes are maintained very well. They have a huge selection of bowing balls in decent condition. The shoes looked almost new. Food is not the greatest but fitting for a bowling alley.

This had to be the worst experience I have ever had at not only a bowling alley but at a mwr facility period. I cannot express how displeased this made me.

1) The cashier at the counter was one of the rudest people I have ever met. When we first walked up he made it seem like we we were a giant inconvenience that he had to deal with.
2)It was a league night and not being aware of this the cashier expected us to leave despite having public lanes open.
3) The food was mediocre. The cashier's did their best but it seemed like they couldn't understand what we we're asking for.
4)The first lane we had was broken and when we informed the cashier he huffed and didn't get back to us for 5 minutes with a solution.
5)When we went to leave we had only played one game. We had payed for three. When I went to talk to the cashier about a refund he turned a sign around informing me of no refunds and pointed at it and dismissed me and walked away. I have no problem with this policy but it is completely unacceptable that he did not make us aware of it before we payed. The fact that he had the sign turned away from us is basically theft.

I highly recommend the firing of this employee. He would not give us his name and he was not wearing a name tags but he was an older gentleman around 6'3" or taller. I will never return to this establishment!!! If management wishes to talk to me provide me with an email. I will be posting an ICE complaint.

In need of a renovation but otherwise the facility is adequate.

Typical bowling experience... Guy running the counter made us feel like we were an inconvenience to him by our presence... Appetizers were good but don't expect to get a full meal here. Shoes need replaced and lanes oiled but games were cheap and atmosphere was what it should be.

Clean. It was quiet for us because we went early. When leagues are there, then it gets crowded. Plan well then it'll be ok. Friendly staff.

Mr. Willie gave us excellent service and was so accommodating in adding my husband when he came in to bowl with my son and I during his lunch break. Thank you so much Mr. Willie!

Nice little military installation bowling alley. Workers are friendly, place is pretty clean, good selection of balls and decent prices. Food is so-so, only real drawback. Will be going back.

My brother bowls here with Special Olympics. I think I was reading Squirrel Girl and Ms Marvel here. The diner inside is pretty okay. Can't complain.

Great staff, the new lane displays are cool, and the grub is good. They lose a star for no AC (Invest in a portable fan) and the lane condition is typically very dry, which is terrible for hook bowlers.

They have recently renovated the Hickam Bowling Center and it is more open and visually appealing than before. The fully automated score keeping worked flawlessly and there were no pin or ball return issues. Rental shoes were clean and almost new.

Hickman bowling alley is a good place to go, the food is good

Sunday bowling at lunchtime resulted in a 30 min wait for a lane which wasn't too bad BUT the food took longer than the wait for a lane they were super nice and cheerful though. Clean alley, pretty good choices of food but "eh" quality... Can't beat the price though. Should stick to the burgers and pretty bomb waffle fries. Also, they got uber choices of beer.

Fun Monday night league, dinner at the bowling alley (yummy chicken katsu curry special of the day), and cheerful greetings from Gina at the food line. Lots of parking. Rating would be higher if lane equipment was more reliable or issues resolved more quickly. Overall, as with other DoD bowling alleys, much better value than private lanes.

Clean, fun and priced perfect for a family with multiple kids. We have a great time everytime we go! Love the friendly staff too!

The Mojave desert of lanes. Really stingy with the oil on the lanes. Sometimes they skip the oiling for open play. Stars are only because they have a yogurt machine

Really nice bowling center overall. Nothing too special about it though I don't really like the food they have so I never ordered any after my first experience.

The prices, staff, food, atmosphere, and quality are very good. I know that food doesn't seem appetizing in a bowling alley, but it was pretty decent. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the lack of pairs of children's bowling shoes.

Average bowling alley, average food. Perfectly good place to come and chill when you live in the dorms.

I'm giving this place one more star than it deserves, because they're actually open during the pandemic. I get that cleanliness is paramount to squash the covid curve, but they took it too far. I feel like they used the disease to impose a gestapo order. One way in, one way out. Can't pick your own ball either. An "expert" sizes you up. The staff is very rude too. What's more is they put me right next to the only other people playing! And the place was completely empty, to boot! But, I brought my own coke in, so that was nice. But again, I had to put my drink on a table that was totally out of my way. Also, entirely too expensive to be a base activity center...20 bucks for shoes and a single game. Oh yeah, you have to hyperventilate through your mask while bowling...to prevent the spread of disease to the people right next to you.

Editing a previous baaaaaaaaad (1-star) review from 2 years ago. Returned today for the 1st time and...it was really good! Excellent customer service at snack bar (gone is the salty older lady, now is a very nice millennial male), and excellent customer service at the bowling rental. Another very sweet millennial guy even helped our kiddo get the ball unstuck without any fuss and with a smile. Wow!

With this kind of turnaround, I'll definitely return. We're not the only ones--last time we were here, no one else was, and I could see why. Today I see many more folks here too...on a weekday, before dinner. Way to turn it around, Hickam Bowling!

Good deals on bowling, newer lanes, ample parking, great customer service, and a large snack bar round out a very nice family friendly experience. If it stays the same, will up it to 5.

First time at location and for a Wednesday night, it was good. $1.75/game (wed night specials) plus $1.75 shoe rental and $1.75 for 1 hot dog per player. They aren't that yummy, but hey, pretty cheap. Not crowded for a summer night. Food wasnt that good so I'd recommend coming full. The mini pizza is truly mini - like mini bagels. Staff was ok. Front desk lady was kind, food staff was unsociable, I guess. Bathrooms were clean. Small bowling alley but plenty parking, next to track field. Overall, worth a cheap family night out , just not for dinner.

Inexpensive, lots of parking, relatively clean and a cool variety of food in the snack bar. Lanes were well maintained and staff was friendly. We went there because Pearl Harbor was full. We will never go back to PH. This one is so much better.

Nice Bowling center, very clean and great food! Wish there were vegan options though!
