If I could possibly give a negative number I would. Was visiting the area with friends and stopping at wineries in the area. Walked in with my friends and was greeted by the rudest person who clearly knew nothing of customer service. Being not from the area we were unaware that we were not allowed to bring an alcoholic drink inside. Instead of just explaining this the associate was not only rude, ignorant, and aggressive but also attempted to take the drink from my friend. Not only was this totally unprofessional and unacceptable the situation would have quickly escalated had my other friend not intervened. Not only will I never visit there again, I will tell everyone I know that comes to the area to avoid it like the plague

I cannot say enough good things about our experience her on Saturday! We had reservations for a larger group and they were wonderful from start to finish. The employee doing our tasting, Hannah, was amazing. You would have though she had been doing it forever! She was very knowledgeable about the wines, didn't rush us, and was an overall delight to have. I would recommend this place for a tasting to anyone visiting Canandaigua lake.

TERRIBLE place! For a friend's birthday a group of us rented a limo to do a wine tour around the Finger Lakes. We had a WONDERFUL time and all came home with more than wine that we can ever drink... but NONE of the wine was or ever will be from Heron Hill!

We were a small group, not a big bus, just a small group of friends who happend to arrive in a limo instead of a Sedan. When we pulled into Heron Hill, before we could even get out of the limo a woman came out of the winery waving her hands and screaming "no no no I don't think so, we don't do limos! You need to leave!" The woman would not have been ruder!!! She acted like we all planned to urinate on the steeps instead of PURCHASE bottles and cases of wine!

I would NEVER return to Heron Hill Winery after this experience!
I WILL tell EVERYONE I meet how terrible my friends and I were treated!
I DID spend my money (does this woman not realize we're in a recession and people are cutting back on LUXURY spending---so seeing people arrive in a limo should be a cue of 'wow, maybe these people are going to really spend some money'????) at another winery just down the road who were THRILLED to see a limo of a small group of friends out for a great day of wine tasting.

If you want to be shunned away like a leper... go to Heron Hill... if you want someplace that is welcoming and excited to see BUSINESS walk through the door... go somewhere else!

Went for a tasting with my boyfriend last week and have never felt more insulted at a winery. The facility is beautiful, the wine is great, but we had a very pompas and masoginisitc staff member. He only catered the tasting toward my bf, who doesn't drink wine, and then bluntly asked for a tip..... IF (big chance I won't) I ever go back, I will ask for someone other than him!

This is a great winery to visit. My family and I usually go to Bully Hill vineyard which isn't too far from here and then Heron Hill winery. The views are breathtaking! The wines are good and their staff are friendly. Lots of parking and easily accessible for handicapped people.

We thought the one area was very nice. The people were very friendly and helpful. The wine selection was lovely and we happily went home with a bunch of bottles that we will enjoy once we get back. I would strongly suggest you visit this winery if you're in the area.

We were having a girl's weekend celebrating my daughter's upcoming wedding. Because of all of the covid rules we were only able to get reservations for three wineries. Our visit to Heron Hill was by far the favorite! The hostess that greeted us at the door was very welcoming, even though I screwed up and made the reservation for one less person than I should have and then the woman that did the tasting for the seven of us was kind, funny, hospitable and just awesome. It also helps that they have pretty good wines . About half of our group liked dry wines and the other half like off dry. Heron Hill has something to keep everyone happy!!

Visited this location, they were running some nice sales on old stock. Great selection. Some wines are excellent but they have a range, a few of which seemed a bit lesser quality. They carry a fun lilac gin (not their own) that was tasty and interesting, we nabbed one of those while on site. Super sweet staff.

I gave it a one star not because of the wine but because of how I was treated by the manager. Both my husband and I were doing a facebook live on our personal facebook and we asked if it was ok if did a live broadcast to show our journey through the wine country and the lady said sure that was fine and that we work for a liquor store and sell there product so we were documenting our story We were approached by the manager after and were questioned/grilled on how many people were following our facebook and that they have a PR company that deals with all of that. 1. We asked before we did anything and she was advised and 2. It should not have been an issue with us doing a live FB as social media is all over at weddings hosted there and there live food and music. Do they question each person. Needless to say I deleted the posting and made a new one not on or near the property advising what happened and the reason I took down the video. Moving forward post signs that due to you having a PR company no facebook instagram or any other video/pictures are allowed.

We have been coming to the Finger Lakes area for the last 6 years. When we got engaged, we knew we wanted to get married in the Finger Lakes and Heron Hill was the first place we thought of. We got married at Heron Hill Winery, on 9.17.18. We got remnants from hurricane Florence and ended our evening with some rain.

They have a tower above the tasting room which offer even more breathtaking views than the main property, if you can believe it. Its worth the extra steps, trust me.

Heron Hill has an great selection of wines, for all palettes. We were able to accommodate all guests with no issues, there was literally, something for everyone!

Heron Hill has an amazing staff and they certainly went above and beyond to make our wedding day as spectacular as I imagined it to be. Meghan and Jessie were just superb.

Live for this place..my 1st time and definitely not my last. From the views,to the food, the staff, and of course the fabulous Beauty and tasteful wine that comes with Knowledgeable Host that know what they are presenting you. Well done and you have to go to this stunning place here in Upstate NY. Bravo to Heron Hill Winery.

Amazing place with wine beer and vodka on tap. These are exceptional New York wines and should be a must stop on your wine trail tours.

As we enter the front door we were greeted with respect and kindness by a nice gentleman said he was retired but worked there because he s loved the wine. That says it all

My wife selected the dry Riesling which she said she loves and I selected the cab which I agree was also delicious

Unfortunately, we had a disappointing time at Heron Hill. In the past, I have been a fan of their wine, so I was excited to taste them all. It was extremely busy in there, we could see this. So, we took a spot at the end of the bar and chatted while we waited for someone to help us. About 10 minutes passed and a worker came over and told us that they would be having another employee come over in a couple minutes. So we said sure.. we weren't in a rush or anything. So, we wait more.. about 10 more minutes. So, finally, the girl comes over to us who is serving on that side of the bar and tells us to go down to the other side of the bar because there is going to be an opening over there in a couple minutes. So we say sure, no problem. Now, this is where we got a little ticked. We are on the opposite side of the bar now and we look over to where we were in the first place. We see the girl who just told us to move start pouring for a group that had JUST moved into the spot we were standing. So, obviously we are confused. We continue to be patient, until about 5 minutes later the other girl tells us to go down to the other side of the bar. This is when we tell her that we were just there and she told us to come down to this side. So, we say to each other that maybe we should just leave. Mind you, this is almost 30 minutes we have been standing in the place waiting. So we go to leave and the girl yells at us and says, "REALLY??" We say nothing and leave. We went to Keuka Lake Vineyards afterwards where we were greeted by a very friendly staff and were served promptly. They were busy as well, but found a way to be friendly and accommodating.

Loved their wine and tasting room. We had a knowledgeable server who got the answers to all the tough questions we asked. They were running out of some of our favorite dry reds, but we still walked away with several reasonably priced bottles of wine.

What a disappointment after entering the beautiful buildings. The lady just poured our wine without any explanation and we were rushed.
I have done a lot of tastings at the neighbouring farms as well as tastings in many wine producing countries. The wine here in my view is unfortunately below average and pricey.

What a great experience. Wines were very good; we purchased a case. Nice selection of local artisan cheeses and maple syrup. Tasting room specialists were very accommodating and knowledgeable. It was also our first Harvest Host evening and it was wonderful! We joined the Wine Club and we will be back to visit. Thank you so much for your hospitality and being a part of Harvest Hosts.

My husband and I had a wonderful time tasting at Heron Hill ! Scenery is beautiful, wines were tasty, but the real sell was the customer service. Ben assisted us with our tasting and by far the best service we received during our entire trip to the Finger Lakes. There was a lady working with him too who was also great (didn't catch her name though). Ben provided us lots of great information on the wines and winery and made solid recommendations by his engagement techniques. Also with the new food requirements, the pre selected box of cheese, meat and crackers was great. Would purchase that box even if not a requirement!

We went hiking before the wine tasting and we were running a few minutes late to the last tasting of the day, but the hostess was accommodating and we had a great experience. The scenery is breathtaking, great wine

REVIEW EDIT: Heron Hill responded quickly to our review and offered us a chance to revisit with a private one-on-one tasting. We had Nicolette as our server and wow- what a difference. We have been to many many tastings at a large variety of wineries and this one was one of the best experiences yet. Her knowledge, understanding and personal recommendations were not only genuine but respectable. She listened to what we liked, and discussed with us each wine we inquired about. Nicolette's suggestions were not only appreciated but we could tell she was actually listening to us and our preferences. We ended the tasting with some dessert wines (outstanding, by the way!) and a quick visit to the top of the tour. It was a beautiful and wonderful experience, even though it was very windy and deceivingly cold outside with all of the sunshine. Thank you Nicolette for accommodating us on such short notice and giving us a truly amazing experience.*While we have never had a poor experience in previous years or visits to Heron Hill; our most recent visit left a "very bad taste in our mouth". Our server Ron was rude, arrogant and held zero consideration in our group. Once we shared we preferred sweet wines, especially ice wines, he was disgusted, made remarks about it, and in the end refused to serve us the sweet wines on the tasting list and brought back very dry options even after we asked to switch back to trying the remaining sweet options. I understand you sell several dessert wine options. Unfortunately we were unable to inquire, upgrade our tasting to include, or purchase any of those options. As long as people like Ron work at your establishment, this family will not be returning. It is sad that people are given less service, all due to their wine tasting preference. On a better note, the pizza salad food pairing option was very good and gave much better customer service than Ron.*

Always something great happening at Heron Hill when we visit for wine tastings. A few years back we visited HH and I was telling my wife a story about a college dorm mate Peter Martini who is now the Vineyard Manager at Anthony Road on Seneca Lake. As I was telling my wife about Peter and our days at Clarkson University, Peter walked by us and we reunited after 25 years after graduating from Clarkson together.

Beautiful views and extremely good wines! Jenny conducted a very educating and fun tasting, and she knew her stuff!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stop there and left with a few bottles of wine. The building is gorgeous, I just wish we hadn't had so much fog the day we were there.

Gorgeous view, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food isn't much to speak of, but they offer a spirit tasting (which I did) and a small variety of wine tastings. Good distancing and consistent mask wearing by staff (review written during pandemic). Spirits were excellent, we didn't try the wines this trip.

Huge Winery on top the hill looking over the lake! We did a tasting outside under a tent, then went inside to look around in the store. During the tasting they offer 2 wines each go around and you simply pick which of the two you want to try. That makes it simple for guys like me who don't know what to pick haha

Heron Hill has fabulous views along with great wines & staff. They recently hired a new wine maker Jordan Harris who makes fantastic reds along with the best Chardonnay's. I can't wait to come back in a couple of years when his wines hit the tasting room. Back to the winery they partnered up with Harvest Host so you can park your RV at the winery for 1 night free of charge, you must be a Harvest host member and follow the guide lines. I enjoyed 2 different Chardonnay's a Ro e. The staff took such good care of us, we felt like we were family, Of the 9 wineries we visited Heron Hills was by far the best.

Ignored for 15 minutes at Cafe and told to leave 20 before posted closing. Waitresses never approached the " wAit to be seated ". The cook came out to say Sorry. We had called ahead to confirm times. Very disappointing. Will not do our event here

Staff was rude and unknowledgeable about the wine and business. There was no one to greet you, no direction upon entering the building, starting off on an awkward note the guy pouring tastings was a total frat bro and he knew next to nothing about the wine or the company. Service was so bad we left halfway through our tasting. Nice building and setting, too bad... very disappointing experience. Visited summer - 2017.

Great wines, great views and friendly staff. They give a veteran discount and have a wide variety of good items in their gift shop including pottery and photography from two local artists. This is one of our favorite local stops and they have music and food events too!

"Summary: Breathtaking views and delicious wines and food! We will come back here, definitely.

Food: Delicious and filling for a good price!

Wine: Perhaps the best wines of our trip! They have a large selection and plenty of variety. They also have a bunch of liquors from local distilleries if that is more your speed.

Ambiance/View: Absolutely stunning views (as the tasting room and cafe are on the top of a hill), and the building itself is beautiful! The tasting area is large with big windows looking out over the beautiful view, and the cafe includes a stunning patio also overlooking the lake and vineyards. Not a bad view in the whole place."

From the Keuka Lake trail literature, Heron Hill was a high flier in terms of the language used, and it gave us some hope that the wines would be inspired and exceptional in some way. Unfortunately their offerings were fairly run-of-the-mill and their wines were plagued by technical faults (true faults or poor winemaking; maybe both in some cases). Their facility, while beautiful, was plagued by fruit flies, and the senior staff seemed more occupied with the gift shop than the tasting room. In all likelihood, we would not revisit this producer.

We have been traveling to the Finger Lakes region for many years and this winery is by far our favorite. While they have three tasting rooms (Canandaigua, Seneca and our favorite Keuka) the tasting room in Hammondsport overlooks the vineyard and has amazing views of Keuka Lake. Their wines are among our favorite and each year they provide new surprises with both their reds and whites. If you have ever traveled the area for a day it is at times difficult to fine a nice meal for a break from all the great wines in the region and their Blue Heron Cafe provides great food for a mid day pit stop. We also decided to host our wedding there after visiting for 5 years and the venue was exceptional. The outdoor tent was a perfect spot for our family and friends to truly enjoy all that the Finger Lakes have to offer. Thank you to the entire staff at Heron Hill Winery and keep up the great work!

tasting room nice with gorgeous view, helpful staff and good wine. restaurant/cafe food average, server unapologetically inadequate. not that it's a huge deal, but to charge the designated driver $2 for each wine goblet of soda is insulting (especially without saying anything on the menu)... I guess we don't count on too much return business...

One of Heron Hill s three finger lakes tasting rooms and the one with the best view. The tasting room overlooks the bottom of Keuka Lake and the wines do their part of making it a great experience too.

Tastings are $5 and get you five wines, and they have tons and tons of varieties to buy and take home. There s also an outdoor cafe on site if you d like to eat with a view of the lake.
