Particularly the works here are better and have a presentation well above the Rijksmuseum. But the price is much saltier. I made a basic package because I was out of time, but if you come to the city with more day, separate at least one whole afternoon for him.

Visited several exhibitions in this Amsterdam museum that is linked to Russian history. exhibition
"Jewels shine at the Russian court" recently visited. At some point we become part of a large diamond.
Worth to visit if you like gems and jewelry.

If you haven't been there, go!
The paintings are extraordinary, the exhibitions are well worth visiting.
Most extraordinary are the texts spoken in the explanations of the world of art.

I arrived on time, and a was told that the museum was already closed. The staff was very rude and was not at all concerned by the fact they closed 20 minutes before they advertised. A definite no.

Fantastic museum. Beautiful collection beautifully arranged in a similarly beautiful building. The audio tours are very well put together and really add something. The exhibition Hollanders of the Golden Age will be extra interesting with the spoken explanation of Hans Aarsman (recorded during a real tour).

It was interesting to visit this branch. A lot of exhibits, in very good condition, as well as paintings, some of them were written so that it seemed that they were not paintings at all, but photographs. Not that I am a lover of this, but as a person far from art I liked the essay. If you will not visit the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, then be sure to look if possible into it here in Amsterdam.

The Hermitage-Amsterdam does not have a permanent collection; it is an exhibition center. We were at the time of the exhibition Dining with the Tsars .

The exhibition consisted of eight sets from the richest collection of European and Russian porcelain of the State Hermitage Museum.

The basis of the exhibition is dining and dessert services, purchased or donated from 1745 to 1894 to the Russian Imperial Family. To recreate the atmosphere of balls and banquets at the imperial court, the curators of the exhibition placed porcelain from the Hermitage collection in an appropriate setting combining the rigor of court etiquette and the luxury of imperial festivities. At the end of the exhibition, shots from the film "Russian Ark" are on the big screen (as if the end of not just an exhibition, but of the era of Tsarist Russia).

Since the founding of the Russian state, all important events at the court were marked by ceremonial dinners. The decoration of the holiday tables and the premises themselves should not only amaze the imagination and delight the eyes of those present, but also testify to the strength and wealth of the Russian state, and in the 18th century also remind the guests about the essence of the celebration.

Composition of the exhibition:

1. A representative selection of items from the St. Andrew's Service, which the Empress received in 1745 as a gift from the Saxon Elector Frederick Augustus II.

2. Berlin Dessert - was presented to the Russian Empress Catherine II by King of Prussia Frederick II to mark the victories in the Russian-Turkish war of 1768-1774.

4. In the "Service with Cameos", performed in 1778-1779 at the Sevres Manufactory, the empress's extraordinary personality was most clearly manifested. Catherine II, being a passionate collector of carved stones, for her favorite, Prince G.A. Potemkina ordered a service of more than 700 items. The main motif in the decor was imitations of cameos, copied from antique originals.

5. "Service of the Order of St. George" 1777-1778, executed by the private factory of Frans Gardner near Moscow, which was to be used during receptions in the Winter Palace.

6. A service presented as a wedding gift to the future Alexander II was presented

7. Also at the exhibition you can see the service made at the Berlin manufactory donated on the occasion of their marriage by the German Emperor Wilhelm II ..

8. Like a bridge between Tsarist Russia and the Stalinist regime at the exhibition - the service of the Hoorend Porcelain Manufactory, donated by the Hungarian Ministry of Heavy Industry to the 70th anniversary of I.V. Stalin, which will be shown to the public for the first time after 1949.

Of the minuses, I would like to note the absence of any material in Russian. There were audio guides in all major languages, there were beautiful and inexpensive albums (29.95 euros), but not in the native language of the exhibition and museum.

Very interesting museum.

Very interesting museum.
And certainly a recommendation to get a different view of Russia.

Ten (!!!) Euro surcharge for Museum card holders: ridiculous and inappropriate. Disdain from your visitors.

Ten (!!!) Euros addition to the admission when you have a Museumkaart - ludicrous. Admission price is absurd.

The Hermitage in Amsterdam is a great museum. Especially the exposition "Dutch masters" is an excellent way to spend your day. While the exposition is not cheap, it's certainly worth your money. The exposition is in the Hermitage for a limited time, because the paintings are borrowed from the Russian Hermitage. The location is a true masterpiece, with a story behind it.

A nice museum. Do a lot for the development of young talent. There is regularly something new. Good quality and well-kept exhibitions. Do a lot with regard to history and culture. Our government can learn something from that.

Such a beautiful museum!

Such a beautiful museum!
Great as the "decor" is adapted to the exhibition! It was very busy at the "Hollandsche Meesters", but rightly so!

The Dutch Masters exhibition is breathtakingly beautiful. Tip: buy an e-ticket in advance and bring earphones for the free audio tour. The stories are very interesting, but often take a long time. With ears in, that is no problem.

Cool

The exhibitions are... well ... exhibitions :) Well presented, audio guides in multiple languages. The look and feel are nice, but have nothing to do with the original Hermitage in St.Petersburg with its luxurious interiors. And I really struggle to justify the prices in the restaurant.

This museum is an asset for the city of Amsterdam, because of the location, architecture and the rotating exhibits which sometimes features artwork on loan from the St. Petersburg Hermitage. In the late 17th Century this majestic building served as a home for elderely women. Now the inside has been renovated to provide an interior designed by architects Merkx+Girod. It can feel a bit cramped during high visitor loads. Overall worth a visit once the other major museums have been checked off.

Another Russian rip-off? Very small exhibits, very expensive price - I did all 3 museums in a couple of hours. Some of the exhibits were copies, not even real art - but at least had interesting historical information.

If you have a free pass, then go. If you have to pay; not worth it.
