It deserves to be called Hermitage indeed.

It deserves to be called Hermitage indeed.
It is beautiful outside and inside. I ended to enjoy more the place than the exposition.
And yet, the exposition was wonderful. I can only give appraisals to the museum.
Clean, well organized, interesting, beautiful, practical, well located, etc.

It s big inside! Always more than one exhibition going on. Prepare to spend some hours there. 2.5 extra euro with a museumkaart. I really recommend using a museumkaart or at least a CJP, because I think the ticket is a bit expensive if you want to visit all exhibitions.

Aren't the Russians nice for letting us borrow parts of their collection, so that we don't have to go to Russia to see it. Really, if you're gay, or a free thinker or something, I would prefer to stay here.

This is a stunning gallery especially now, August 2018, as they have the Classic Beauties exhibition. This has many outstanding exhibits but the highlight for me was The Three Graces by Canova. I have not been a great fan of sculpture but this is truly outstanding. To be able to draw this would be difficult but to create it in marble astonishing . Another highlight was Outsider Art. I very nearly didn't go to this but I'm delighted I did as I left smiling and uplifted. It reminded me what I feel art should be about. The sheer joy of creating something. Another plus for me was the gallery is not crowded so you can take time looking at the exhibits. They even provide stools, in the Three Graces, to take round with you so you can sit down and relax when looking at some great art. Don't miss it.

Very youthful and cheap hostel, excellent location near the city center and close to public transport.
Friendly staff and acceptable cleanliness.
Recommended for young people thanks to its coming and going of new people.

In the Hermitage Amsterdam there is a particularly beautiful music festival Winter evenings on the Amstel. The concert was beautiful. Young Russian musicians played the stars of heaven. Every year we go there and every time we are again surprised by the beautiful music and the atmosphere just before Christmas

Exhibition Dutch Masters (2018) was fantastic. Unfortunately I saw someone in a wheelchair who was alone and had difficulty accessing the scanner for an audio tour. They were placed too high. The museum has not thought of this for people who are in wheelchairs. Furthermore, documentation was well taken care of.

I really enjoyed my visit to this museum, the shop had some great replica plaster busts which I could leave without buying. The cafe and restaurant had lovely menu. the Sculpture exhibit was brilliantly presented, The Three Graces were breath taking. I had a lovely time.

The Hermitage is a large museum in an historical building on the river Amstel, housing various top-notch temporary exhibitions. The Portraits of the 17th Century exhibition (until Feb 2nd 2020) is quite stunning. Not in the least because it has been augmented with a present day intervention - pictures of citizen of color of those days (actual historical figures) beautifully depicted by notable citizens of color of today, such as rapper Taifun and football player Ruud Gullit. Together with a fantastic ensemble of huge genuine 17th century group portraits. Very worthwhile! The Hermitage also has a large and well renowned restaurant.

Exceptional. Amsterdam is truly a paradise for those who enjoy museums: the Hermitage branch is yet another first-line museum in the city. From the building to the curatorship of the works, everything reads 10. Definitely worth the visit. Do not miss the time lapse with the history of the place, which was once a nursing home.

In itself a wonderful concept. The little brother / sister of Hermitage in St Petersburg. The remarkable thing was that in the Rembrandt year there was only a sketch of him from Russia!
While there are quite a number of Rembrandts there.

The museum was fine. The restaurant, however, is not. We wanted to go there for lunch but they only have 2 things. Tomato soup and a croquette sandwich.
We chose a sandwich with 2 croquettes. We expected a sandwich per croquette. 1 sandwich with 2 croquettes costs 8 euros. Bit on the expensive side.

Finally been inside. Beautiful building. Art Treasures exhibition had very beautiful pieces, anything and everything. Nice but not entirely to my taste. But at the next beautiful exhibition that appeals to me, I will definitely go again.
