It is located in the historic center of Key West and is the home where the writer lived and wrote for ten years. The house that has now become a museum is surrounded by a lush garden in typical Caribbean style and where over forty cats live. Inside we find all the daily life of the writer and obviously many of his writings and biographies. There is also a souvenir shop and bookshop. I recommend visiting it with a guide, so as to steal anecdotes that in other ways it is not possible to discover. The price with a guide is $ 15 and reservations are not required, you can do everything on site, there is not a large crowd of people at the entrance.

For those who are fond of this writer, I am sure it will have some effect entering his home, there are several interesting anecdotes that I think not many people know.

For those who are not interested in writing, you can also save yourself a $ 12 ticket. You will only seem to see a house like another with many cats bivouacking in the property

This establishment is taking great care to protect patrons from coronavirus. There are spaced markers along the sidewalk as you wait in line to purchase tickets and as you wait for your tour of the grounds. Each tour starts at staggered times and allows up to 10 person per tour. Our tour guide was amazing! She knew the stories and told them in a comical way. Bring plenty of water as the wait may be long. Great place to visit!

The Ernest Hemingway Museum was a quirky and unique place to visit on my trip to Key West. There is plenty of Ernest Hemingway all over the island but this museum is the home he actually lived in. There is a ton of history on this property and a ton of cats! We did a little guided tour and enjoyed the extra tidbits we got to learn about Hemingway's life and the property itself.

Good if you like history or Hemingway. Some of the guides are very knowledgeable, even more so than the placards. Be sure to take the free tour, included in the ticket price. The cats are very fun to pet.

Entrance is $14 and is cash only yet the shop takes cards. It's a really well designed house by Asa Tift and impressive to look at (French Colonial). The tour was brief but interesting although the cats were over emphasised. Spend some time going around again independently. A tip was practically demanded at the end as no one in the group took the first hint.

We visited a few years ago. I had wanted to come here since I was a kid. It was so much fun! There are dozens of polydactyl cats. So cute! The tour is informative and the house is interesting to see!

A beautiful home,exactly how I imagined.

A beautiful home,exactly how I imagined.
We did not take the guided tour, however here and there we listened in and may be next time we will do the same .
Everything is well maintained . My favorite part for the garden . Very nice and gives you that magestic feel that something amazing was created under the shady trees .
As you walk the house and looking ay the furniture, the books you feel the same - being part of history.
If you love Hemingway - and who doesn't - this is a great stop to fill your mind with some culture.
I would not recommend it for youngwr children. They won't be able to appreciate it yet.
However my 17 year old absolutely loved it- but I think the cats hanging around helped alot.
Enjoy

A very interesting and fun stop by a piece of history. The tour guide was excellent and didn't cost anything (aside from tips if you choose). The cats on the property make this an extra special visit. In my photo you'll see "Hairy" S. Truman, quite the distinguished gentleman.

I just finished my tour and am extremely dissatisfied by the experience. I was in a tour with a family whose children were talking to their parents and the tour guide rudely said excuse me to them in the ugliest tone. My biggest tip would be just because you say excuse me does not mean that you are being polite. It was an older man who apparently hadn't had his coffee in the morning. Children will be children. They weren't being roudy. They just needed to ask their parents something. The best part of the tour was the cats otherwise it was not at all worth it to me. Ernest Hemingway was a glorified cheater with a lot of cats. That is the moral of his story. Definitely would not go again or recommend to anyone else.

Loved our visit here. Tour guide was delightful, educated and entertaining. One our favorite stops in Key West and just a stones throw from other attractions on Duval St. Be sure to visit this attraction on your trip. Plan to stay for about an hour. Interior is kept cool with fans. Restrooms on site.

If you are on vacation at the key don't miss it! It is one of the various homes of the famous writer. Here you can see its famous salt-water swimming pool (which at the time cost him a fortune, so much so that he even cemented a penny to have spent almost all of them for its construction). This house is also inhabited by the descendants of Hemingway's cat, famous for having 6 fingers, an anomaly that has also been transmitted to subsequent generations.
