I knew nothing about Hemingway before visiting this place. Our tour guide was a great storyteller and clearly had a passion for her job. Admission wasn't expensive and totally worth it in my opinion. If you enjoy museums and historical landmarks, definitely check this place out while at Key West.

Attractions museum with interesting exhibits to Hemingway's life. We spent several hours here in the two buildings and in the beautiful tropical garden. The second house has a small shop on the ground floor where you can buy souvenirs and books.

Not only for literary friends a must if you visit Key West.

At SmellLikeAViking.com we have a beard oil called The Hemingway. He wrote the book on being a mans man. His house in Key West is truly a must see. The guide Daniel was awesome. He was fun and down to earth. Hemingway had quite an extraordinary life. In the upstairs writing room he wrote 75% of all of his works. Key West fits his legacy and his house, 8 toed cats dont disappoint.

Wonderful place! I think even if you've never read anything written by the man or even if you do not know who he is it's worth the visit. The guides lead inspiring tours. The story of the museum is also fascinating as well as the fact that a lot in the house is in fact preserved from the times Ernest Hemingway lived there.

Awesome museum. You can join a tour or meander alone. There are tons of the Polydactyl cats (most with 6 toes, saw one with 7) which is cool. Some aren't friendly though... but I did yell at a kid being rough so maybe that's why. You're not allowed to pick them up, but as you can see in my photo they can pick up YOU Haha.

Wow! If you're into classic American literature and the authors who create it this is wonderful. I could have spent 2 hours in the house and more in the gardens. Cats are so used to people they just sleep.

Friendly and Knowledgeable staff.. Very cool to see the life of Hemmingway. His cats are the ultimate bonus. They are so friendly and live their best lives here. Military discount available which is always awesome! Definitely worth a walk through.

Very interesting tour. Once you pay to get in you can walk around with the pamphlet on your own and see the rooms and/or wait for the guide to give a tour. We did both, different info given. Be aware there are cats everywhere. They re pretty lethargic after lunch and didn t influence anything, unless you count the gift shop. Hard to look around when you re smelling cat urine pervasively.

The Hemingway home and grounds are beautiful. Terrific tour learned a lot about the life of Ernest Hemingway. Our guide was great and looked just like Hemingway himself! Loved the history and the six-toed cat collection which are very rare. Hemingway was quite extravagant in his day indeed!

Definitely recommend taking the tour which is included with price of admission, it adds a lot to the experience that would otherwise be missed. The huge variety of cats are cool too, all of them we visited didn't mind being pet.

Excellent guided tour. Our guide provided plenty of insights. You get really good access to the house and grounds. Admission was something like $20 each. Be warned. It's cash only. It was well worth it for us.

My husband and I visited the Hemingway House the first time in 1973 and enjoyed our visit so much that we returned several times. The house and grounds are wonderful. Being a cat lover, I enjoyed seeing the cat strolling through the house and garden and napping wherever they choose. On our first visit we added a new member to our family -- an eight-week old kitten. We had Saint for 12 years. What a souvenir!!

Interesting house with some posters of memorable book and movies. Has alot of cats with an extra finger. Each tour guide tells the story a little different so I'd suggest doing the loop a few times with different guides. It's easy to do since the tours run often and are free once you paid the entrance fee into the building

Wonderful! The best part of Hemingway's legacy (I'm not a fan of the man or his writings). From the wrought iron porch railings surrounding the house to the airy, high-ceilinged rooms, it's a beautiful sight to see.

Must see experience in Key West. The house has original furniture including Hemingway's writing room where he completed 9 of his novels. Photos and memorabilia show what life was like living, fishing, and drinking in the keys. Wonderful! Fellow cat allergy sufferers, take your meds before visiting because there are 59 cats on site! The whole estate is covered in dander and the grounds have a distinct eau du chat pee. Remember to bring cash for the entrance fees as credit cards are not accepted. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed the tour, and that you could also walk around freely and take pictures. I learned a lot about Hemingway. If you don't like cats, then I would stay away though, but if your like me and do like cats you can go and try to pet all 57!

Loved this quaint museum. The tour guides were very helpful. The property was quite nice. This is an inexpensive place to get in, and it should take you around an hour to get through.

The polydactyl cats are great to look at some are even a little friendly.

You can join free tour. There are many cats with 6 fingers. Very interesting to see them. You can enjoy here even you don t know Hemingway s pieces. But if you do, you will enjoy very much. There are no parking lot, you can park near but usually occupied so I would recommend to go there on foot.

The house is fun and the cats are memorable (and federally protected), but what really brings this place to life are the very passionate and knowledgeable people that give tours and invaluable insight into Hemmingway's life, influences and family. The tours are free with admission.
