Definitely worth checking out when visiting Key West
Very informative. Take the time to visit. Such interesting anecdotes on Hemingway and his wives.
Guided tour was very informative and gave interesting perspective on Hemingway. Be wary if you are allergic to cats as there is 55 of them on the grounds and in the house. Great to see the house and furniture when Hemingway was alive.
Kitties!!! I guess there's stuff about Hemingway too.
More to the house and grounds than I thought. Interesting history of course.
Glad to finally make it here. A homage to a larger than life personality. Many original furnishings. Our guide was interesting and informative. Highly recommend if you go to Key West.
Did not know what to expect. Was pleasantly surprised. Glad we went
Boring, expensive
Poor trained cats ..
Instead of visiting this place, it is better to watch the sunset for an extra half hour
Must visit in Key West. Detail story about Hemingway
Loved the Hemingway house. The history and the Cats it's a must do while in KeyWest
Very fun and informative. The six toed cats are really cool and friendly.
I've been to much better museums but worth going if you're in the area especially if anyone with you is a cat lover.
We had an awesome time! Loved seeing all the cats! Doug was our tour guide and he was awesome! He was so knowledgeable about the home and made the tour very interactive. Best tour I have ever been on thanks to Doug!
Never new he was getting shock treatments. Take the tour, staff is very knowledgeable.
Must see this place if ever on key west. Tour guide Chris was GREAT.
Betty Grable is beautiful. Look for her.
Interesting historic stop. I'm sure I would have gotten more out of it had I waited for the tour. I would encourage patrons to wait for the tour, but we were limited on time, so we just wandered the house and grounds at our leisure. Glad we stopped in.
I love that the 6 toed cats are so well off! They are literally everywhere on the property, I love it!
I am not a fan of cash only. There is an atm on site, but who in this day and age doesn't take credit cards??
Great guides. Interesting history. Fun times overall.
Loved the history and all the kitties running around!
So enjoyed walking the veranda at the Hemingway house!! The kitty's were present everywhere! My son was able to pet several! A wonderful step back in time!! If anyone is interested in beautiful plants and cool greenery you can sit on several of the benches on the grounds! They do have tours available if you chose to go on them included with your admission fee!!
A really cool house that was owned by Ernest Hemingway and prior to that was built With money from wrecking back in the 1800s
Absolutely love the history of one of my favorite authors and a fellow fisherman.
Cats were sweet. Plants were amazing. The house was amazing. We enjoyed all of it.
Excellent visit and we got the best guide ever! Made us laugh out loud! The cats with their 6 toes were great too! Visit if time allows!
It is not that the United States is rich in historical things to see. The visit of this house is certainly interesting to relive the atmosphere of the Hemingway era. His 6-fingered cats that inhabit the house undisturbed are interesting and strange ...
We stopped by there yesterday. Ernie wasn t home we ll try again another day!!
Tour guide was rude. They took to many people in the group. And the place smelled of CAT URINE terribly.
A great historical place to visit. I haven't been there in awhile, but it was very interesting. They maintain the number of cats Hemingway always had, which was something like 54...
One of the best preserved houses of the novel literature prize.
Great tour and experience if you're into history and/or Hemingway. Say hi to the cats.
Go for the cats and stay for the garden. The house is interesting. The tour guide was nice, but the tour was very short and not too informative. The cats were fun to watch and pet.
Interesting to see some memorabilia from this famous writer. It was very crowded the day I went.
You can wander around on your own or follow a tour. The cats are well cared for and deal with a lot of people wanting to pet them. I'm amazed at how well behaved they are even when one woman was trying to keep one poor cat from leaving. He never hissed or showed signs of getting upset with her.
Being cat lovers and owners, we love visiting the cats and touring the house. We have brought family and friends here. This is our fourth visit to the Hemingway house. It is worth the money. There is no military discount.
Beautiful grounds and home, and of course the six toed cats. Well worth the visit.
Wonderful tour with information regarding Hemingway's life and work while living in Florida. The cats running around and, seemingly running the house, make for an interesting component of a visit here. The house is kept in very good condition. Any fans of Hemingway's personal life will find this a very worthwhile visit.
The owners of the home should be recognized for realizing the homes historical significance. If you are a fan of Papa's writing this is a must see place of importance. The guides at the facility are very good at walking you through the history of Ernest Hemingway.
Definitely worth visiting! We stopped in with our two children, so I felt like a lot of it would be over their head yet, but the property itself is so beautiful it kept their attention, not to mention the cats at every turn! It was a wonderful experience.
Lots of cats, beautiful yard and vegetation, and guides make a good story. A lot of history.
One of the main attractions and a must visit site while in Key West, our tour guide was very informative and made the tour fun. An easy walk for most folks throughout the house we were here a couple years ago while we spent Christmas in the Keys. With public restrooms and a gift shop where Doris purchased a nice painting and a ceramic cat as the many cats on the property are descendants of Hemingway's original cats. The cost at the time was $ 17.50 per person.
I loved this place for the cats really. The penny by the pool was also cool. Everything else was kinda boring tbh.
I loved that the cats just roam around the property and inside the house. Very friendly too
Very nice and interesting.
To recommend
Superb house, atmosphere of another time maintained.
Legend come to life...with a life as incredible as his stories.
Very cool. Since your purchase price includes the tour - definatley take it. Then you can go back and explore the place as much as you want.
Wonderful tour of Hemingway's Key West home. Enjoyed the tour and library store.
Fantastic Engrossing Museum & Stories About Ernest Hemmingway. An Absolute MUST Whilst Visiting Key West.
Loved the full tour! Will definitely return to learn more on my next visit. Such an adventurous soul!
A fabulous property to explore and gain a great insight into Hemingway s life. We were lucky enough to tag on to a tour with Marilyn, who was a lot of fun and very informative.
Chris gave an impassioned and excellent tour. Learn a bit and he raised a lot of interesting questions about Hemingway's death and a history of concussion, self medication for bipolar disorder and depression
Wonderful, informative guides take you on your journey through the history of Hemingway and the property. It is a must see location when visiting Key West. #historical
Cats everywhere!!! So cute and the tour is very informative. Beautiful house
Best tour on the island, if you like Hemingway and history (and cats).
I'll be honest: I only went to see and pet the cats. Very well manicured property. Highly recommend for anyone visiting.
Very informative and fun tour. Only take about 30 min.
Wow... all i have to say. Must see even if you are allergic to cats
Beautiful home with all the 6-toed cats running around the grounds.
All the tour guides are very knowledgeable and great at thier jobs!
Good tour included in the admission. Kids will like the cats that join the tour and kids can help feed them treats from the guide. The house is interesting especially the stories, the construction (includes a full basement), pool and of course the cats which all have Lost Generation names.
Cheap admission and free guided tours. Worth it if only to pet some very sweet polydactyl cats.
A place in Key West that is a little different from the surrounding atmosphere.
I think it's worth paying the entrance fee.
We loved our tour of the Hemingway House. The tour was very informative and we loved the cats! I would highly recommend this tour, but make sure you take cash for your admission!
See strange 6-fingered cats ... Beautiful, well-preserved place
Must visit in Key West see how Hemingway lived very cool
Fascinating insight into the man himself and his tempestuous relationships
Somewhere, before we walked up to the ticket counter, perhaps on their website, or Facebook page, or other literature, they should tell customers they don t take credit or debit cards. It s a calculated gambit, because guess what? There is an ATM on premises just for guys like me who are 1500 miles from home and no cash. They got me for an extra $5 for using the ATM. If they don t want to pay the merchant fee for CC transactions, raise the price $5. Other than this unnecessary annoyance, this a 5 star presentation.
A must see stop if your a fan of his work. Dont be put out that the furniture and most of the decor is not really his.
