Heatherwood is a beautiful community! The staff truly care about the residents. Love all of the different life enticement activities that they have for the residents.

Super disappointed.. walked in last week for information but was told the packets were out.. gave me "Alisha" phone number but didn't pick up.. she callled me today saying she would email me price sheet and information but that didn't happen.. the place looks nice but it's only good if you get information.. so DISAPPOINTED!

The staff at this community obviously care about the people they serve. The Executive Director has personal connections with residents, which is not always the case. I would happily let the people at this community assist with caring for my mother.

I've worked here for almost 10 years, it is a very nice place to work. We have wonderful management, and a very beautiful, clean well kept community. Our residents needs and care are our first priority. We strive to make their years of life very comfortable and pleasant. Kuddos to HEATHERWOOD!!

Heatherwood Retirement Community is a wonderful blend of the "Triple Cs" - Caring, Commitment and Competence! From the moment you walk in, you instantly feel warm and welcome, not only by every one of the staff members, but by the residents, as well. This speaks volumes to me as far as a senior community that I would highly recommend to any of my friends or family.

Heatherwood is a wonderful community. Love that it s been in the Burke area for almost 30 years. It shows how committed they are to their residents and the community. The care is above anything I ve seen, I truly feel they treat you as family. The apartments are beautiful and so well maintained. I love that they come with full kitchens! When anyone asks there is no doubt I recommend Heatherwood. You won t think twice! Thanks for loving our seniors!

I went for a walk-through and loved it! Homey feel, beautiful decor, attentive staff, and lots of amenities - onsite doctor's office, beauty shop, cafe, theater, library, and weekly barbeques out back in the summer! Also lots of activities scheduled and a very nice dining room.

HEATHERWOOD is a place that is loving, homey and embracing. Management listens and changes things, activities is always changing based upon want people want to do and nursing individualizes care to each person. It is truly a team atmosphere, not just with the staff but staff and residents working together too.

This community has a traditional look and comforting. Yet the residents are as modern as they come, as well as the staff. There is life here, the food is great and the people seem to enjoy where they reside. Do yourself a favor and visit the community. I would certainly move my mom in!

Great Independent and Assisted Living community in Burke.

Schedules are flexible! Housekeeping keeps the building looking great and clean! The care for the residents is great! Management is nice and listens to their employees!

This is a vibrant, active adult community. The residents are always on the go, and seem so happy. The one comment I heard from so many current residents is how wonderful the food is! I can see why Heatherwood has such a good reputation! A great place to live!

Heatherwood is a gorgeous establishment! All of the staff are so friendly and the apartments are amazing here. The food is great and the atmosphere is lively, yet homey. I would feel one hundred percent comfortable having my family members live here.

As a resource in the community for seniors I feel it is important to learn as much as I can about all the communities that are in the area.Heatherwood is a fantastic place! The staff has several years of experience mostly with Heatherwood, but if not in the senior care space. The back patio is beautiful and can t wait for upcoming community events this summer. Finally as an added bonus they have a rehab facility in their backyard. Community, comfort and caring are the three best words to describe Heatherwood!

Heatherwood retirement community is an excellent place to live. All of the staff is great all the time. The food tastes delicious, the nurses are loving and take care of all the residents, house keeping make sure everything is clean in the apartments, Maintenance makes sure everything is fixed and working properly. Heatherwood community is a great place to work and live!

I had the pleasure of touring the community with Alissa. The community is beautiful and the apartments are larger than other places that I have visited. Alissa was warm and inviting, and she took her time to show me all of the many, exciting amenities that Heatherwood has to offer their residents. The staff was friendly, and everyone said hello. I will definitely be recommending Heatherwood to clients and families in the community.

Most of times when someone says service is good or bad it is about how one is treated. In this facility, it is primarily about patient and family. And let me tell you. This place is AWFUL about it. When you are talking to any of the staff they are unkind, speaking with attitude, and going to cut off what you are saying by saying NO. You don't want your loved ones to be treated like this. Just don't go there. It's worse than you think. Oh, and the this building is old. Everything here is old.

Heatherwood is an amazing community with the nicest staff and residents!

Heatherwood is simply amazing! The staff is caring and friendly. They are fast to respond to everything, maintenance, PT/OT, admissions, nursing, etc. They truely care about the resident and supporting the family with the transition.

The admissions directors thought about who mom would get along with, and possibly make friends. That says a lot to me, they know their residents enough to know who would likely become friends who one another! The admissions staff also worked with me to advocate for mom and get her out of a bad rehab facility. One the first day they took mom around to introduce her to everyone, so she could make friends in her new living environment.

Since mom is blind and can't read the activities calendar, the activities director stops by daily to see if mom wants to join.

Nursing has helped me with transitioning mom, get all of her documentation and medications in order. They helped set me up with a wonderful in house Dr and all of moms nursing supplies.

PT/OT (is resident but not apart of Heatherwood) is also amazing! They have provided more PT than the rehab facility, they are getting mom moving and apart of normal daily life.

Mom's overall health (mental and physical) plus quality of life has all improved since moving to Heatherwood. I couldn't have made a better decision to move mom there. And none of this would be possible without the wonderful staff who goes above and beyond!

The team is good! Staff is somewhat short but that is being worked on to be fixed as I can tell because I trust our management team. We work well as a team to ensure our residents get the care that they deserve!

Accompanied a friend to visit her great aunt and I was really impressed. We ate lunch with her and the staff were very attentive and helpful, even those who weren't necessarily working in the dining room. Not to mention the food was outstanding. Everything about the place seemed very well run and the residents seemed to be very happy to be there as well. I'd say it's worth at least a visit if a loved one is in the market for a place like this.

I went to Heatherwood this Saturday for their Luau party and it was so much fun! It was great to see all the residents decked out in their Hawaiian shirts and leis. Everyone was flush with excitement, and it was also nice to see a lot of family members come by to enjoy the party. The staff did a great job in putting on a great event. They are caring, compassionate, and eager to make sure everyone has a wonderful time. The food was amazing, and the Luau singers and dancers were beautiful and talented. This is the kind of care and attention I have come to expect every day at Heatherwood. Thank you!

I had a great honor to present my seminar on Fraud Prevention and Daily Money Management Services at Heatherwood on April 14, 2018. I was impressed with the high level of organization provided by Alissa Schroeder (Director of Community Relations) and Debbie Sweeney (Life Enrichment Director) and the effort to engage an outside community into Heatherwood's activities and life. I received a very warm welcome from the residents, excellent engagement in the presented topic, and pleasant interaction learning about their lives and families. They shared with me how happy they were living at Heatherwood surrounded by their friends and great care. As the residents were served fresh and delicious refreshments by the community staff it was obvious they were loved and cared for.

This community is outstanding and goes above and beyond for its employees and residents. This is evident is the care the residents receive and the positive attitude you see in all the employees faces. I have been to this community several times for events and functions and you can tell this community is at a whole other level in comparison to its competitors.

Heatherwood is good, the workers are friendly and so is the staff. The wellness team works great together! We could use some more staff due to covid, but it is getting worked on to be fixed.

My mom and dad recently moved into the Heatherwood community. As soon as you walk in it feels like home. There is always someone there to greet you. The facility is currently being remodeled. The new color pallet is going to be light neutral colors. Its going to be beautiful!

They have two outside patios. One in the front which is covered and used all season. The other is in the back, and OMG its huge. It has a brick fireplace, tables and chairs w/umbrellas and lots of trees.. Very nice!

My parent's have a 1 bedroom apt which has a full kitchen, yes, a full kitchen. The apt is super cute and modern..

The staff is awesome! They are always checking on the residents. This is one of the few facilities that has a RN or LPN on staff 24/7 for special care residents.

The food is really, really good! You get breakfast, lunch and dinner. My parents eat better at Heatherwood than they did at home.

I am currently an employee at Heatherwood in Burke it is very pleasent to work. It is team work I have done nursing 18 years And this one of best jobs I have had

I visited and saw they are doing the renovations on the 2nd and 3rd. It is so exciting and I can't wait to see the finished product.

Visited just before the holidays to see the completed renovations. Great color scheme, warm, and inviting. And stylish too!

My mother is in her 90s, and was formerly a resident at a "chain" assisted living facility in NoVa for only 2 months before she moved into Heatherwood Retirement Community. She has since been a happy Heatherwood resident for the past 4 years. After experiencing such outstanding care, comfort, good humor and positivity from our "Heatherwood Family," as well as the beautiful rooms and surroundings, our mother does not want to live anywhere else!

Here's a quick story to illustrate why, in our opinion, Heatherwood is the best Retirement and Assisted Living facility to be found in NoVa...... My mother was recently hospitalized and was very sick with a noncontagious illness. She kept asking us when she could go home to Heatherwood (an unusual request since mom has usually been pretty comfortable in hospitals). Hearing that, we hoped that if we moved her home to Heatherwood sooner, she would be happier and recover. We ordered a hospital bed and required that she be discharged directly back to Heatherwood. Michelle Edwards (Heatherwood's Dep Dir of Nursing) called me to see if there was anything she could do to help us, and I mentioned that my brother and I were going to be at Heatherwood early the next morning to rearrange furniture in mom's room for the hospital bed and table. Soonafter, I received a text from Michelle to let me know that she and Mike Suchar (Dir. of Environmental Services) had just left mom's room and had taken care of all of that for us, working late to do so. From experience, they knew just how to rearrange everything so that Mom would be comfortable, and knowing what a close family we are, Michelle and Mike even put a recliner next to her bed so we could hold her hand while we visited. When we stopped by Heatherwood that night on the way home after receiving Michelle's text, we were overcome with emotion at the outward demonstration of compassion that Michelle and Mike gave us. They are just over the top! From the moment mom settled back in, each and every Heatherwood team member -- without exception -- gave mom, and us, that extra care and support, that extra service, that extra attention, that extra smile or hug that we all needed.

So how's mom now? She's nearly recovered!! And I daresay that would not have happened if she had been discharged to any other place than Heatherwood.

It is also important to note the safety and security that Heatherwood offers. The Administrator, Bryan LaMartin, along with Mike Suchar, have overseen numerous facility improvements, notably the expansion of a full building generator, providing electricity to every residents' room to secure their health and well-being during the inevitable power outages that occur during inclement weather. Bryan and his team also installed a call button pendant system for residents to wear around their necks in case they need a nurse or technician for assistance in their apartment, or anywhere else in the Heatherwood facility. It's pretty amazing. Heatherwood also has a designated Doctor, who is SUPERB, and an office and exam room onsite for his weekly appointments with residents.

We have and continue to recommend Heatherwood to all of our friends and co-workers. The transition of our parents from independence to dependence is a difficult one, but the staff at Heatherwood has unfailingly done everything imaginable to make the transition smooth and problem free. The drive and commitment of each and every Heatherwood team member to create the safest, most comfortable and happy community is unmatched. They each hold themself to the highest standards of excellence and professionalism.

Peace of mind .Heatherwood Retirement has been a godsend for me in caring for my parent. They have every thing you would need for a comfortable independent lifestyle. I don t have to worry about my parent because they take excellent care. They have housekeeping, a handy man for any kind of maintenance. They have bus services to take you shopping, to museums, the MGM building, restaurants, or lots more. They have lots of daily activities, special events for families and a physical therapy program in house. You can cook in your kitchen, but why would you when they serve good food 3 times a day. Having an in-house doctor visit weekly helps me in save time my busy lifestyle. Heatherwood has 24 hour nurses that can be called on at any hour of need. My parent has fallen several times and the staff was there to help promptly. You will find lots of kind and helpful staff members. I am very grateful that they are there to help me.

It is a nice community, everyone is like family here! I wish that our teams would work together a little smoother!

Heatherwood is one of the most organized, well-run, charming independent and assisted living communities I have ever been to. Making an appointment to tour their community is so easy, and the Director of Community Relations, Alissa Schroeder, was one of the most informed, engaging and welcoming staff members we have dealt with in our search. I was struck by the positive and joyous energy she had and the warm, inclusiveness she extended. This high caliber of customer service was repeated over and over as I witnessed the meaningful and attentive interactions from the staff toward the residents.

It's so heartening to know that there are employees working at Heatherwood, who truly understand the absolute emotional certainty and security that our seniors need to feel when they make that decision to move into an assisted living community. You can feel such assurance and peace of mind to know that your loved ones are being well cared for. Also worth mentioning is the high quality of food and activities/continuing education that are offered. I highly recommend stopping by any of their communities and taking a look for yourself!

The staff are all so friendly and helpful; they've made her feel very welcome and she's so pleased with her decision to move to Heatherwood. Love how active their community is. They have the Marines come in to spend time with the residents, outings to the casino, museums, boat trips and more and an amazing mix and mingle with music every Friday.

Heatherwood is a beautiful community! The common areas are bright and inviting, the apartments are spacious and beautifully remodeled. The staff are always friendly and quick to greet new faces! They have strict COVID policies and procedures to keep the residents and staff safe! I highly recommend this community!

My mom has lived at Heatherwood for 8 years. She has been very happy there and has made many friends. She loves to attend the various musical presentations. The highlight of her week is playing poker! She has a lovely apartment. Any problems are addressed quickly. She is on independent living, but if an illness causes her to need more assistance, the staff will assess her and provide the services she needs for as long as she needs it (at additional cost of course). The most valuable aspect of living at Heatherwood is the presence of nursing staff 24 hours daily. They have on occasion notified me if my mom falls, or needs medical attention for any reason. I feel so reassured that she is safe and happy at Heatherwood.

Heatherwood is a great community to move your loved one too. They have an outstanding nursing team with nurses in the community 24/7, which is an important when searching for an Assisted Living Community. Their food is delicious with multiple options to choose from - I was invited over for a lunch and wanted to stay in the dining room all day!

Heatherwood is going through some renovations which I am very excited to see the end product as it already looks beautiful! I definitely recommend this community if you're looking for a community that you can trust to take care of your loved one.

When you work a shift, you get a free meal. Heatherwood is a Clean environment inside and out. Residents are our #1 priority, our second priority is to acknowledged/answer the residents pendant(call light). Our 3rd is to provide a great service to our residents and guests.

My Aunt has been a resident of Heatherwood for a while now and I wanted to share with all the sense of comfort that we feel in knowing that we made the correct decision. We were very apprehensive while looking at numerous communities before we made the decision. The deciding factor was the warmth that we felt from the staff the moment that we walked into the Community. We were greeted by the Concierge at the desk and immediately was offered something to drink and given literature to read while we waited for Alissa to conduct our tour. All the staff that we encountered were so very pleasant and projected a loving "vibe" that was so apparent. During the tour several staff members came up to us and greeted us warmly and wanted to know about my Aunt and how they would be able to make her adjustment run smoothly - if we decided on Heatherwood. We had not encountered that with any of the six communities that we looked at which also included several major chains who had numerous communities but lacked that warmth that we were looking for. I highly recommend Heatherwood and we as a family feel that we made the correct choice.
