I started going to Harrah's as a kid in the 70s with my parents. I have always had an extremely positive experience there. The hotel rooms are fantastic and all of the employees are very friendly.

It's a hotel attached to a casino, which I think pretty much sums it up. Smells a bit like smoke everywhere (especially the stairwells, which are littered with cigarette butts), the rooms are pretty standard fare. Bonus points for the excellent $4.99 breakfast special that only runs from 11pm-6am (exactly what you want to cap off a good night!)
Only one thing is safe in this place, if you stay longer than you should .. You will end up losing, what you won and what you brought to play. Pathological gambling is a disease
The nicer of the hotels in south lake tahoe. Rooms are larger and seem more updated than harveys. Table rates tend to be higher as well. Food prices seem a bit high I mean $20 for a Fatburger combo really? Better off going to their buffet on the 18th floor which has an amazing view. Overall great location like their other hotel and casino properties all across the U.S.
Top end gambling location in Tahoe. It can get crowded but it stays clean. The sports book is very small so you can bet but don't expect to hang around and watch the game.
I really love harraha's but I stayed at Harvey's this trip and found it to be a much more pleasant experience. The room was quiet and the gaming was good.
I've been at Buffets all over. This was absolutely by far the best ever! For $32 this place is a bargin. Rib eye, turkey, crab, best steamed vegies, deserts were a culinary treat.... omg is all I can say. I've eaten every Vegas buffet and this killed those!
Great staff at the hotel. I would definately recommend it it a friend. Plenty of entertainment and good restarunts to eat at. The room was spacious and also had 2 bathrooms which was super groovy.
Hotel's Casino is a bit too smoky but rooms have been updated and are decent. Food selection in the different restaurants and food court are better ...w/ the upper floor Buffet being the better or best available out of all the Casinos. Otherwise there are plenty variety of good food outside of the hotels & resorts w/in the Tahoe Area.
Ride from Silver Legacy was scenic. Seemed to be family friendly...lots of kids and dogs!! Lots of machines. Server staff was great. Need more money changer kiosks.
We like staying here for a weekend in the snow and gambling. It's in a great location if you ski/board at Heavenly. The spa was under construction but they really should be updating the gym. The gym was really run down, smelly, and too warm. Other than that, we had a fun time staying here.
Covid 19 update. Thermal screening flawed. Only Hotel Guests who check in get screened. No screening at main or side Entrances at Harrahs or Harveys.
Players coming in from Street or Parking Lot completely bypass the screening process. Great for players who have Fever or coughing.
Many slot players fake masking by having drink or smoking cigarrette.
Also a few just pull the mask down to their Chin and wait to be told by Security to remask.
Hotel Rooms dated and some areas of hotel need upgrade to supply more Hot Water for showers. Dont shower during peak usage hrs or you will be taking a cool to a cold water shower.
Pluses are indoor swimming pool and competitive rooms rates.
Old, dirty, shabby, slow internet for 2 (!) Devices per room.
Check-in was quick and the staff member was very friendly. We had booked a renovated room. When I got to the room, I hardly believed my eyes. The furniture was dirty and worn out. Such a room is said to have been renovated 2 years ago? Drawers that cannot be closed, furniture that is totally scratched, etc. So back to the check-in. There they wanted to give us a non-renovated room (i.e. a downgrade). Briefly looked at the room and immediately turned back. 3rd time at check-in, this time the manager first wanted to inspect the new room herself. After a long time she came back and found a suitable room (she admitted to having looked at several rooms). Yes, it was an upgrade in the end, but actually embarrassing. Renovated rooms look just as worn out as the non-renovated rooms.
The hammer: around 25 dollar resort fee is taken per day and room. But there is ultra-slow internet for 2 (!) Devices per room. This is something from the 90s. Each additional device costs $ 13 a day! With roaming and my smartphone, I am faster and cheaper on the Internet.
The casino: yes it is a bit bigger, cleaner than the rest of the public places in the hotel. But beware !!! Nowhere is the payout worse than here. In enough forums you can find this casino very last place in the whole state of Nevada when it comes to paying out slots winnings. So better not play. The restaurants are also way too expensive. In a steakhouse you pay more than in Las Vegas on the Strip with a top chef. The whole hotel serves only to pull the money out of the customer's pocket.
The whole dingy feeling runs through the whole hotel:
- 2 broken elevators, were never repaired during the stay.
- Broken decors in public areas
- Broken buttons on the elevator
- Dirty pool
- Dirty public areas
- Promotional stickers and fun stickers on and in the elevator
- Lipstick marks on mirrors in public areas
- broken printer in the business center (I had to print the boarding passes in the hotel next door!)
- broken carpets
- much more
The whole hotel would have to be closed for a year and completely renovated.
The restaurant at the top makes this place popular. It is an enormous buffet and most likely discounted for players. They could benefit from a total rehabilitation and modernization from top to bottom.
The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because the assistant manager at the hotel was amazing... otherwise I would've given 1. Zero service. None. I asked for a late check out .. it was new years eve and I paid over $1000 for a suite that was dirty and had no towels... and they told me no. I didn't even check in until after 9pm. I paid over $1000 to stay 12 hours and they wouldn't give me an extra 30 minutes.
Upon arriving i was starving so I called down to the front desk to ask my options. The girl told me she didn't know. That's all she said. Didn't even attempt to pretend like she cared lol. Simply stated she didn't know and hung up. . And to top that off.. one of the restaurants inside THAT building was open!! How don't you know what time your own restaurants are open until ??
So after we eat, we went to play some slots.. thats why we stayed in a casino, ya know ? And the ENTIRE time we gambled this dude on the floor FOLLOWED us and told us about 200 times to put our masks on. I was drinking my water,, that I had to get myself.. and mid sip he yells at me to put my mask on. I told him, you can see im taking a drink, he said 'drink them mask then swallow your drink'....
I would give this review a 5 star if it weren't for the California bar near fat burger. They have terrible service and gouging prices for a casino. No deals for locals! Forget this place exist and go to hard rock!
One of my favorites in Tahoe. Good food, nice people, nice rooms. Connected to Harvey's across the street via underground tunnel so you've got access to both sides of the street and another nice hotel. In fact, the Sage Room in Harvey's is my favorite restaurant in Tahoe. A nod to the Rat Pack days with top notch service and great food.
Room was large, clean. Bathroom was also large and clean. The room had a nice view of the mountains. The floor had a bit of an odd smell to it. Some floors and the casino allow smoking, so it's difficult or nearly impossible to avoid that entirely if it bothers you, while this could be a plus for smokers.
It was my first time going to Harrah's Lake Tahoe and the experience was not that bad. We went mostly for the buffet. The line is very long when you take the elevator up to the floor before the buffet even opens at 5pm. I have to say the selection of the buffet is very good but it gets pretty crowded. So I suggest lining up before 4:30pm to get ahead of the crowd or go later when the line simmers down. There is a nice view of the lake when you are dining though! And the smell of cigarettes is not present so it's like a breath of fresh air which is great compared to other casino buffets where the smoke lingers in the air while eating your food.
It was an excellent stay. We are a group of 6, and this property is able to accommodate us into one room - a SUITE, we just paid for a rollaway bed which costs $30.. The room rate is around $400 but it usually depends on their occupancy and if it's peak season. It was already late at night and this is the only property that are able to accommodate us. Joseph, from front desk was very efficient and helpful. (Since we had an issue from a different property) he made sure that everything is inspected before we get into the room. The room exceeded our expectations, it has a living room, there's a bathroom. And on the bedroom there's another bathroom with a jacuzzi and a separate shower. It was amazing, so is the view. The suite was located on the 8th floor, overlooking the lake and their indoor pool. We weren't able to try their breakfast, but the casino is good enough to pass time. There's a hookah lounge right outside the property, a bar, walgreens and a nearby snowmobile rental and tubing... I would definitely recommend Harrah's based on my experience. Note that every guests have different experiences, but mine is definitely astouding. Thanks Harrah's , till next time.
I will begin with the positives, the staff in every part of the hotel and casino were very nice, however the hotel it self was sub-standard. We had an executive suite. This suite has two bathrooms. When we arrived, one of the toilets was plugged, I was told by the texting system "Ivy" that the hotel uses that someone would be right there to fix it. They never showed. I also went to use the Kleenex tissue in the bathroom, it was empty and the little bottles and shampoo and lotions on the counter were empty, and we had just arrived. The hotel is very outdated, toilets are so low, if your older, a little heavier than most or tall, forget it, without help you will not be getting off this low toilet by yourself. The carpets were tattered, art work frames broken, paint chipping. I feel for all the money they bring in, they could at least make some upgrades? Upon check-out, after informing them of all these issues, I was not even offered a discount.
