Hampton Inn Historic District- Downtown Columbia, SC Review

Not the best Hampton Inn that I have stayed at. Close to USC and downtown in the event that you want to get good food. I would also say the gym is lacking, however friendly staff and exactly what you would expect from a Hampton

The hotel is great. The rooms are clean and neat. My largest complaint is the worthless Internet access. The free service is capped at a 1mbps steam that will cut you off if you stream for more than a few seconds.

I then paid for the "premium" ($5.00) service and that yielded me a 3 mbps stream that did make Netflix possible but it constantly had to buffer and would stop.

The three HDMI ports on the LG TV had been disabled as well. So I could not plug in my laptop and watch a locally stored media as well. I have a feeling this is all done in order to push hotel guests to use the movies on demand feature from the hotel, rather than use sources like Netflix, etc.

The staff was wonderful. Very nice and were able to resolve any problems that came up.

Nice hotel in the middle of a booming restaurant district. The staff was friendly and courteous. The room was clean and oder free. Meets the expectations I have of Hampton inn. Your GPS will likely take you to the front door, to actually park and enter the hotel you have to drive around to the side of the building and enter the hotel parking lot.

The Hampton inn Columbia is the best hotel. The room has alot of space that it can hold like 4 or 5 people in the room. The breakfest is amazing it has everything u want and need there.

This is totaly horibile exsperince with the billing and overcharching for rooms. been trying for a week to get this fixed. they have billed me twice and have been telling me they are going to fix the problem. I called down today and jemika would not get us a manager and putting us off. this customer service is horiable

Beautiful rooms and excellent service. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

Loud AC, lots of dead bugs in lamp by bed. Adjustable shower stuck in one position. Cut services but kept prices the same. Plus pay for parking in a half full lot. Thin, thin walls. Not recommended.

Wonderful staff, fast access to all the restaurants and shops downtown. Rooms are nice, if a little stuffy with the AC running. Shower is wonderful but would've loved a full bathtub to soak. All in all a great place to stay for any length of time.

Clean, close to many great restaurants and GREAT service from ALL staff!!!! Can't wait to come back again!

If I could not give a star I would. The room was purchased from a family member who put my boyfriend's information as a guest but her card on file as her birthday gift to myself. She also authorized over the phone and via paperwork online while making the reservation that he was authorized to check in and get the key so he could set up a romantic scenery. Unfortunately I had to learn about the surprise before even walking into the room and being late to an event for my birthday because Manger Amy and worker Sara decided that she still had to be present and would not hand over the key to my boyfriend. I then learned the manager Amy displayed an attitude with not only my family member and boyfriend but also another couple who just ended up leaving and going to another hotel. After staying the first night. As we were heading out to do activities I went to get clarity of the situation from the manager who then gave me attitude and tried to over talk me. Upon returning to change clothes and go to another birthday function house keeping had not come to our room. We had to change our own sheets in which we discovered there was someone else's dried blood on the mattress itself. I was not offered a new room nor a discount of any sort. Nor did the staff send house keeping to fix any of the issues. I will not stay at this hotel again nor do I recommend it especially if you are booking it to be a surprise. Not to mention the paper thin walls which allowed to hear the neighbors above us and next door to us having relations and squeaking beds even with the television on.

Courteous staff. Nice beds. Updated style. Walking distance from several great restaurants.

Stayed for a concert which made for a convenient walk. (About 5 mins)

A lovely & well-priced hotel in a really cool, vibrant neighborhood. Rooms were clean & spacious, staff was incredibly friendly & helpful, swimming pool was nice. Good complimentary breakfast, too.

Nice place however there is $15 charge for parking. We did not know about this when we made the reservation. It wouldn't cause us to change our mind but it was inconvenient.

Came with a large group, accommodated all of us and prepared enough food ahead of time.

Very friendly and informative staff. My room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. Parking in the back is a bit cramped especially at night. Good location, near restaurants and bars and just off campus.

Horrible!! Wanted the rm with whirlpool, didn't get it. Kept up most of the night bc of disrespectful dance team that hung out all night in the hallways and elevators. They should have been put on floors without other guests. Slamming doors!! Will never stay there again!!!

Helpful and pleasant staff. Hotel is next to dining and entertainment. So most things are within a block or 2 walking distance.

Front desk personnel are very nice. Great location. You can walk to anything you need.

Nice clean Hampton. Convenient if you need to be right downtown. If hotel is full then parking is packed/limited in the hotel lot. There is a parking fee.

Good place to stay in the heart of downtown Columbia. Staff is awesome but rooms over the street are loud due to traffic

Typical Hilton level service in the Columbia Vista.

Room rates were $575 per night & our room wasn t ready for us until 5:30pm
Front desk tried charging us for 2 nights twice. We had made reservations in Oct 2018 for only one night March 13, 2019
Vending machines were broken & many items in the front desk store were unavailable

I only gave two stars because the staff is very nice. However, we reserved a suite for 2 nights. We arrived and were given room 200. We entered the room and found body hair under the blanket
Not one or two but a lot. Also there was spilled food on the otumn. They moved us to room 300. That room had food splattered literally from one wall to the other. It wan't stained.
It was clumps of food and it was splattered on the wall. We asked to speak to the manager. Quinton went to room 200 with us. He seemed disinterested and unappologetic. He took 20 minutes to find us a clean room, which was room 400. He said he would comp our first night. We checked out this morning and was charged 430.00 for one night! We went back in and the lady at the counter, very nice and apologetic corrected to the total of 140. Which is what it should have been. We booked it at 130 a night. I took pictures of each room. I will not stay at this location again. We have never had a bad experience with a Hilton up until this point. The breakfast was great and the whole staff was friendly

Very kind people. Here in cola working nights so they put me on the top floor and at the back of the hotel to avoid the noise of the vista.

The Columbia Vista is no longer a place to take your family nor a place you would stay on a business trip. Motorcycle gangs and muscle cars roar up and down the main strip (Gervais st) all night long and you will not be able to sleep, especially if you are in a room close to the street. Also forget a nice walk after dinner. I felt like I was at bike week at the beach...it was that bad! Go to Lexington s downtown if you want a enjoyable time...

To the management: you need to sit down with someone from the mayors office and the police chief and figure this out...period!

We went to the Lee Brice concert and stayed at the Hampton Inn Columbia Downtown. We had a short walk to the Colonial Life Center from there. The employees were nice and the room was awesome. I would stay here again.

Friendly staff clean room, bed and pillows uncomfortable felt like I was sleeping on rocks the noise from the street traffic kept me up all night. NO SLEEP! Don t recommend.

Great hotel in a great location. It is walking distance to a ton of restaurants and bars. I only stayed one night here but I would gladly come back again!

Staff in incredibly helpful and kind. Hotel is in a great location and in close proximity/walking distance to many restaurants. Rooms are always clean and ready ahead of schedule! Despite being in the downtown district property is very secured with a gated parking lot and have never had any concerns of safety while on the property!

Great hotel, nice accommodations and great free breakfast. Soft, comfortable beds. Especially liked the number and variety of walking-distance restaurants. Lots of people walking around the streets made it feel very safe.

Street cleaner at 6am - so if you want to sleep in get a room away from the street.

Amenteties are as expected at a Hampton. Good location. Extremely loud street noise. Can clearly hear people talking in adjacent rooms and motorcycles ripping up and down the street. Recommend finding a hotel in a less traveled location if you want peace and quiet.

The breakfast was great and plenty of options. The beds were really comfy. The road was busy late into the night but the room did face the street and its the main strip for downtown so noise was expected. Would stay again.

Great Location in walking distance to a lot of awesome eateries and bars. Very comfortable Beds and the room was spotless upon arrival, free wifi and delicious breakfast. Also they usually have cookies available in the late afternoon. Very Nice Hotel. Oh!... And heated mirrors that don't fog when in the shower, so cool.

My family and I had to evacuate here due to Hurricane Florence. Unfortunately we were displaced and unprepared. The staff here including Guest Services manager Oyuki Acciento were exceptional! Everyone made us feel at home and went out of their way to accommodate us! The hotel and location itself is worth the stay but the staff is why I would highly recommend this property. I will definitely be returning

This location is awesome. We only stayed one night and it was so close to everything we needed. Plenty of restaurants and bars within 1-2 blocks. There is a Stabucks directly across the street. The complimentary breakfast was good. Front desk staff was so friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed our stay.

I didn't love the $14.00 charge for parking my car there, but it seems to be with all the hotels in the area.
Breakfast was still going after 10:00Am which was good with a lobby full of guests.

Love the hotel. Great amenities and breakfast. Only downside is that the hotel is off a main downtown street. Motorcycles raced up and down the street until 0230 in the morning. It kept me up and I did not sleep well.

Right in the Heart of Columbia, a stones throw to the capital with many restaurants and bars in walking distance. Clean rooms comfortable beds and a friendly staff!!

I have stayed here dozens of times over the years, and it's always been a great time. Staff is top notch, every single one of them ! You will be hard pressed to find a better location that serves the Vista or downtown Columbia.

Meet all my needs. Affordable with clean rooms and friendly smiling staff.

Only visited the lobby, but it was nice. Homeless man was hanging around the door, though, asking for money.

Great place to stay, for traffic when it gets heavy.
