Such a beautiful spot! Dog friendly too! We spent a lot of time out on the rocks and when we got home, we realized that one of our dogs had a paw pad injury. Something to keep an eye on next time!

It's a beautiful place and even during COVID times you are far enough away from other's that even if they didn't have a mask it wouldn't be scary. Due to the quarry being filled with water if you have really little children you would want to make sure to keep an eye on them.

Beautiful day in spring so let's go for a walk!
Choose Halibut Point because the paths are wide, easy to walk on and has nice sitting areas. You start from the parking lot and end up at the rugged coast of Cape Ann. During your visit you'll see how the landscape changes in the face of the North Atlantic winds.
There are well thought out maps available that not only keep you oriented but informed of the bygone granite quarrying industry that made Rockport famous. By the use of the map you can understand the process of which the massive hunks of granite were moved and loaded into ships. Amazing.
Great photo opportunities, some important regional history, and easy trails makes for the best way to welcome the change of seasons. Great place for picnics and family time.

Absolutely gorgeous park! Rock quarry was really cool. Fair warning there are no restrooms, they have port-a-pottys but the day we went it was 91 degrees and FELT LIKE 100! So as you can imagine they didn't smell very good. But other than that my son and I had a really good time.

Great state park with ocean view and has a lake with great view. However, there is a real parkin problem. State park only takes half of the small parking space available and there is no off street parking available for miles... we found park 20 mins walking distance and ruined our day... thanks!

Great place to walk and take photos. There is a lot to see here. There is a lighthouse overlooking a quarry and the ocean. There is an overlook where you can see Maine on a nice clear day across the water. There is a place to build rock piles and places to sun bathe on the rocks overlooking the ocean. There are plants aplenty. *Be careful of poison ivy if you go off trail. Really enjoyable on a nice day.

Great place to bring the family, or go for a solo adventure by the sea. Multiple paths to the water, astounding ocean views in any direction. Steeped in history, this is a day exploration destination for any oceanic adventurer to enjoy!

The tide pools weren't that great. Periwinkles, clams, and not much else. Seaweed on rocks closest to water made venturing out treacherous and slippery. The walk to the ocean is about a half mile and once you get there is no shade so the sun just beats down on you.

This is one of my favorite Massachusetts state parks; there s a lot packed into a small area. The quarry is a tiny freshwater ecosystem right on the ocean, the birding here is amazing, and the sea rocks are a worthwhile extension of your park experience. The rangers and friendly and helpful.

Such a gorgeous park, just absolutely splendid. It's not very big at all, but it's still a perfect spot for a casual stroll. The rocks down by the water make for an interesting walk and the quarry pool was peaceful and great to look at.

I m pretty sure it s not family owned and run. It s a Massachusetts state park and there s no snack shack. A great place to maintain social distancing easily because it s off the beaten path and never very crowded. Beautiful and picturesque, great spot to fish and see the occasional seals and star fish. I wouldn t exactly say it s kid friendly by any means. The ocean is rough and rocks can be pretty slippery and dangerous I don t recommend swimming here unless you really know how to swim. It s not a beach with sand. I would actually consider it pretty dangerous for children under the age of 10. So bring your backpack and your bug spray and lots of water as you will not be able to swim in the quarry or drink the water.

Wow was I surprised. The quarry was cool. The rocks leading down to the ocean were beautiful. It was a very hot calm day so we could actually sit on the rocks and put your feet in the water. Plenty of places to sunbathe on the flat boulders.

If you are looking for a nice afternoon walk, a place for a romantic picnic, or someplace to take out-of-towners, check out Halibut State Park. Located in picturesque Rockport, MA, Halibut Point Park offers an easy walking trail that takes you past an old quarry on your way to spectacular ocean views. You have the option to head to a viewing vista that is about 200 feet above the crashing waves. On a clear day, you can actually see some of Maine and New Hampshire's coastline. If you are feeling more adventurous, you can also take a small trail down to the ocean and climb on the rocks. While you can swim, I would not recommend doing so, as the water is pretty rough. In addition to the ocean views, the trail takes you past a nice picnic area and a visitor's center. Come prepared with tennis or walking shoes, and make sure you have a camera.

Fantastic spot for stargazing at night. Watched the Geminid meteor shower here from the field by the quarry and it was wonderful. Quarry filled with water is pretty cool. Parking at night was free, no guard and plenty of spots open. Requires a pass during the day. From the lot, it's just a 5 minute walk across the street and down the road to the quarry and best stargazing spots. Might come back here to check it out in the daytime/watch a sunset, but I loved it at night!

Beautiful query. You can do a loop around the query. Also you can walk down to the beach. Only large rocks and no sand. Wheel chair accessible partly. Large paid parking but cheap. Portable toilets in parking lot available.

Very nice place for someone looking for an outdoor activity. There are no beaches, but if you are careful, you can go down to the water on a less windy day. The view from the top of the cliff is breathtaking as well. You can plan for a picnic day on the grounds.

A really great place to visit with family. Can sit for hours on the rocks and look at waves splashing. Parking was a problem because we didn t come early enough. The entrance was blocked but no one there let cars in when parking was becoming freed. So we parked outside, a few minutes away. But, when we got in we saw so many parking spaces that could be occupied only if someone opened the road block. What about families with small children, or seniors?
