Completing the part-time web development course at HackerYou has been one of the most positive and self-motivating experiences I've had. I have not only learned new valuable skills, but I've also pushed myself to learn things I once thought were out of my comfort zone and loved it. All of the staff are incredibly friendly, approachable and knowledgeable and always took the time to answer everyones questions with enthusiasm. I was set on taking the boot camp before taking the part-time course, and I'm still firmly acting on that decision, as I don't want my experience at HackerYou to end at this point. Nothing but great things to say!

Going to Hacker You was a fantastic way to learn about HTML/CSS and WordPress. The courses I took were beyond thorough. They got into the nitty gritty of the web and I really value the education that I got. I remember getting a class assignment in my web dev class to recreate a magazine photo. It was might hard at the time but pushing through that in class exercise and pushing through the confusion has me at a place where I work in tech. The community at Hacker You is really unique. There is a big push to challenge the status quo in tech, and it s backed up by so many diverse people coming out the door. Keep it up!

I took the JavaScript Fall Course this year at HackerYou after taking the intro to Web Development Course. I decided to to take this course to prepare myself for the Boot Camp in the Winter and I am really glad I decided to take this route.
The teachers are great and I really appreciate the patience they have with explaining certain concepts to their students. Prior to this course I had almost no experience in writing JavaScript and now I am finishing the course with 3 JavaScript portfolio projects and a great understanding of what JavaScript can do!
They also teach you how to use git and work the command line and use web development tools to make your workflow more efficient.
The reason I choose HackerYou is the attention you get. If you have a hard time understanding a concept, they will stick with you and they will go over and over the material again, until you understand it!
Karley is a great teacher and what I liked about her teaching style the most is that she kept updating the learning materials based on our general understanding of previous subjects. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to dip their toes intro JavaScript or in preparation to the HackerYou Boot Camp!

I have recently just completed the Summer 2018, Pa...

I have recently just completed the Summer 2018, Part-time JavaScript Course and I d have to say that 6 weeks is really not enough. Felt like there was a lot to process and by the time the material tarts to sit in, the course is done. Cest la vie.

HackerYou has a very welcoming environment filled with a community of people who just want to push you and see you succeed. I found the javascript class to be difficult, as it required a major change of thinking to solve my problems. Luckily, it was easy to get help from my teachers, mentors and from recent HY grads.

HackerYou also provides an open and calm learning space, to be able to do some work. With the soft couches and kitchen area, it gives a home feel. When I have troubles with my work I found myself look out the large window to center my thoughts. The large window gives a good view of the surrounding area. There is always music playing, most would think that to be a distraction but it was of an incentive to keep working.

Like with most schools, the part time Javascript program required us to complete projects. The further into the course we got, it felt like we could do anything. The only limits we had were by how much of the material we understood and how much time we put into the projects. I personally found the projects to be fun but did feel a tad overwhelming at first.

Doing a class like this really pushes you to commit time and effort into studying, so you don t feel left behind. That itself wold be hard with the notes always being available as well as having access to communication with the mentors and teacher. This really saved me I a lot of cases. Although we have access the course notes, I found it to be easier when you hear from someone else.

My time in the HackerYou part-time Javascript course has taught me to be more literal in my web development work . It has also taught me the importance of making app that would be
helpful to everyone. After HackerYou, I intend to keep working on my skills in Javascript and get reacquainted with an old friend, HTML/CSS.

I attended Juno College on a part-time basis and the experience was extremely positive. Instructors were knowledgeable and very helpful. If you were not sure of something they would try to explain it differently if needed. Exercises and code-along practice was also helpful in learning the principles of HTML, CSS and Javascript. For reference, I took intro web development which covered HTML/CSS last summer and Javascript in fall of 2019.

It was because of the welcoming environment that I will be applying for the Full-time 9-week bootcamp. I did my research into the other tech schools and decided on Juno because of the community and alumni (I knew others that went through the full time program and are now successfully working as developers). One difference I noticed is that the bootcamp is front-end focused while other schools have their bootcamp structured for full-stack. Juno College does offer a full-stack class on a part-time basis to upgrade later.

Overall, I do not regret my decision to attend Juno College and recommend it if you want to learn web development to upgrade your tech skills or even for a career change.

I spent 12 years in logistics & distribution. But ...

I spent 12 years in logistics & distribution. But in the last few years, after attending a few workshops and conferences, an itch to pursue coding led me to study it in my spare time.

Self-discipline allowed me to develop the skills needed to get accepted into the full-time HackerYou bootcamp. In late 2017, I decided to leave my stable career to pursue this new and unknown path that I was so passionate about.

I was really nervous before starting this program, constantly wondering if I made the right choice. The timing in my personal life wasn t ideal and I knew that commuting from Hamilton every day for 9 weeks was going to be challenging. I was also worried that I was too old or that I wouldn t relate to others in the program. I was also concerned that I would never be able to find a job.

It was 9 weeks of 13-14 hour days, but in the end, the right choice. The days didn t feel long at all because I enjoyed what I was learning and doing. I can also say that I made a lot of solid friendships, and that all the folks in my cohort were wonderful to learn with and spend time with every day.

The learning environment at HackerYou is mega supportive. There is always someone willing to help you whether it s an instructor, administrator, peer or even alumni. And while I love all the instructors, Ryan Christiani is one of the best teachers I ve ever had. His ability to look at what you re doing (even if it isn t the way he would do it) and guide you through next steps makes him truly awesome at his job.

I don t regret leaving my job to attend HackerYou. The personal challenges and the doubts I had going into the program seem silly to me now. I ve been done the program for about a month, and start my first job as a Web Developer next week. Thanks HackerYou! :)

I am a product manager, with no design experience. I took the UX design course at Hacker You with Ricardo as the instructor. Ricardo is an incredible instructor, his passion and talent for design shows in every single class he teaches.

I learnt so much in this class and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking into UX design. I just hired a UX designer at my work, and almost every single interview question we asked could have been answered like an expert after taking this course.

I took the bootcamp in the fall of 2016, and previously to that, I took the part time intro and advanced into HTML and CSS at HackerYou. I found the instructors to be very knowledgable and approachable. Now a few weeks later I have my dream job as a Interface Developer, with a great group of supportive people. I also have friends for life from HackerYou, and a bunch of amazing experiences both in and out of the classroom.

HackerYou is an incredible space filled with incredible people. I took the fall 2015 bootcamp, and I literally had the best instructors I have ever had throughout my education. You become part of a big HackerYou family that become your support system. I couldn't recommend this place enough. And most importantly today I have an amazing job as a web developer at a large agency in Toronto!

I couldn t have asked for a better experience at HackerYou. I took both the part-time web development course and then Web Development Immersive (bootcamp). All the instructors were friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about teaching code. The curriculum was fast-paced, focused on modern development and most importantly, gave me the necessary skills to enter the tech industry. Beyond the course, the greater HY community is so unbelievably supportive, encouraging and willing to help with any questions.

Like many others, I came to HackerYou because I needed a life change. When I discovered coding, I knew instinctively and immediately that this was the career for me. But it was only when I first stepped into HackerYou that I knew I was on the right path to making my dream career into a reality. HackerYou not only teaches you how to code but also how to challenge yourself and continually grow. They are pros at giving you the tools and structure you need to really excel and become an active member of the tech community.

I took the Intro/Advanced Web Development course this past summer just to get a feel of what basic coding was like. One of the best experiences of my life - the things that make this different from other crash coding schools and technical colleges are the mentors and the resources HackerYou gives. I'm hoping to take a few other part-time courses in the future and highly recommend this specific web dev course to people who are interested in coding!

I recently completed the Front-End dev intensive boot camp at HackerYou. At the time I was a teacher and was wanting to upgrade my skills and change carreers. It was an extremely exciting time for me as I moved from Kingston Ontario back to Toronto for the summer while my family stayed home. The school itself had a great location, a great facility and a great communitiy. From day one Heather Payne was extremely invested in my interest in the course and making sure it was the right decision for me as I was coming from Kingston Ontario and the front end scene isnt quite as big in Kingston as it is in Toronto. I equate my expereince at HackerYou to summer camp. The staff were both extremely knowledgable and made the expereince fantastic. The focus on bonding with fellow classmates was high up on the list with learning a mass aount of new skills (this was important as often times we would be at the facilty until 2 or 3 in the morning working on projects). The content was delieved in a easily digestable format and the main instructor (Simon Bloom) had the perfect mix of teachablity and humour. You could really the staff loved working there, but that they all also walked the walk and were working professionals in the field! The course offered some very interesting opportunities which included building a polished portfolio, extra curricular workshops from local specialists and several opportunities to share the love for code by volunteering with Lades Learning Code (which I have taken back to Kingston and instructed several workshops at the local chapter). I am now currently working for Queens university. My background in teaching and my new skill in coding has landed me a fantastic position working for the Medical Education unit where we are leading the world in building software for the new medical education curriculum.

What I love about the HackerYou community is the commitment to inclusivity, the overall positivity, and the incredible combination of support from instructors, mentors, alumni, and peers. The learning style is really practical and results-oriented, and the projects are challenging but fun. I took the part-time front-end dev course, and subsequently the 9-week front-end bootcamp in 2016. The bootcamp is a once in a lifetime experience, and it allowed me to do my best and most ambitious work. The skills I learned at HackerYou plus my background as a graphic designer led me to a job I love as a Product Designer who codes.

Just the best. A great place to have fun and learn the amazing skills that will help you build the next generation of the web. That's an awesome responsibility, and HackerYou helps new and aspiring developers how to get there and level up their skills.

It changed my life. That's almost a cliche at HY, but it's true -- and you get to meet super-cool people with a passion for the web -- whether they're a student, an instructor or an alumni.

I have since referred about 8 friends to HackerYou and even 1 instructor! Love the company and all they stand for.

I am in the last week of the part-time web development course at HackerYou with Jazz and it has been an amazing experience!

From the first day of the class, all of the instructors, mentors, and staff at HackerYou have been so welcoming and helpful. The course is very structured and during each class, you build upon what you previously learned. The pace of the class is perfect - you are challenged in each class but the amount of information you are learning is not overwhelming.

Jazz is really great instructor! She makes each lesson fun and takes her time to explain new concepts clearly. You could always tell that she was really prepared and knowledgable about everything that she was teaching. I loved that each class was a mix of lectures, code-alongs, activities, and discussion. We were able to put the skills that we had just learned to use through various coding activities in each class.

The mentors, Melissa and Jamie, were also the best! They provided in-depth lesson reviews after each class that were so helpful for reviewing that material. Jazz, Melissa, and Jamie were always very responsive to messages about anything that I needed help with. I *really* appreciate all of their positivity and encouragement.

Full Stack Master Class - Toronto - Fall 2018

Taking this class has really helped me to catch up on the Java side of development along with learning React which was something I've been wanting to do for awhile but didn't get around to it. The lecturers know what they're teaching and wouldn't hesitate to assist if I fall behind at anytime. I would definitely recommend HackerYou/Juno College to anyone who either wants to brush up on their skills/learn something new that will benefit them in the future. I wish all the best to the team as well as the classmates who took the course with me. Cheers - and remember, mongoose is not a bird!

(reply to the owner's post) : I respect that you replied to my comment and I agree that you are unmistakably on top of the game. Since I have your attention please hear my reasons. My review is not from my experience but my friend's, who was first guided to take one of your short courses in hopes of landing the front end boot camp but even after that he was not selected, on non-technical grounds, and instead was advised to take another short course, if he spends all the money he saved for the boot camp on these short courses then his hopes die. NOW, he believes that he can set his career if he gets in at HACKER YOU, so do I. But it is my request that you guys, who are the utmost reputed, look back at your roots of bringing change rather that fall in the spiral of increasing intake.

I have been short-sighted when i gave you 1-star you definitely are deserving of your current 4.9, but please bookmark my previous 1-star as reminder to self-check yourself before turning into one of those run-of-the-mill institutes.

Most likely going to be one of the most pivotal de...

Most likely going to be one of the most pivotal decisions I've made in my life. Before HackerYou, I was more or less lost. I had been in a job as a developer before and then a year as a web administrator. I was plagued with 'imposter syndrome' and my confidence in my own skills as a developer were, by and large, low.

I made a decision to go to HackerYou after one of my friend, she had a friend who had taken the bootcamp at HackerYou in the past and she had known about the issues I was facing career-wise. She encouraged me to try the part-time and then go full-time if I liked it and I'm forever thankful to her after listening to her recommendation.

I loved everything about the bootcamp, it was such a mind-blowing experience. The instructors that I had in Ryan and Danny were some of the most awesome instructors I've had in my life. There's actually an insane difference of environment between the university environment and the environment here. My classmates were trying their best, helped each other out and I honestly felt as though there was a big sense of camaraderie amongst us and all the instructors and mentors (Zoe, Adam) were doing their best to bring the best out of us.

Best of all, it reinforced what I had already knew. I was already a developer but I was in such a huge rut because I just thought I sucked. I thought that I didn't belong in the development world and whether I should have pursued something else. Interestingly, that 'something else' may turn out to be teaching or mentoring as part of my experience at HackerYou was teaching fellow classmates JavaScript and programming concepts and seeing them 'get it' was really rewarding for me.

Also, I really appreciate the efforts of Christopher, Charlotte, Brandon, Sarah and the administrative team. They definitely made sure that questions, concerns, inquiries were tended to and always hosted these little games and videos of inspirations and other miscellaneous things to raise the morale and spirit of the class (it worked).

I could honestly write a book about how amazing this place is, but I'll just say that I've said goodbye to the imposter syndrome and that no one can break my confidence as a developer now.

Their enthusiasm made every class a pleasure to attend. I felt like I learned something new in every class. I feel empowered with my new skills to make positive changes in my work life and take on newer, bigger challenges!

I went to Hacker You this summer hopeful that my life would change and it did in ways that honestly exceeded my expectations and hopes. In 9 weeks I did not learn everything there is to know about progamming and everything that might come up on the job. But I learned something more important, how to be a developer.

We learned skills like HTML, CSS, JavaScript and some React. More importantly we learned how to take in and apply information almost immediately. We made 7 projects (including our portfolio sites) in 9 weeks and each project was a direct reflection of the concepts from class.

The learning environment is ideal with a mix of classes and project work time where an online "helpcue" allows you to request the help of a mentor. You rarely have to wait more than a few minutes to get the perspective and help of a mentor. There is a mix of solo and group projects so you also learn things like git collaboration and how a group project might feel.

The instructors have a lot of perspective to offer about things you might encounter in "the wild", but upon graduation there is also a robust alumni community and slack channels like "helpme" and "freelance" where grads from all the cohorts regularly communicate and suggest solutions when people are stuck at work.

I was hoping to get a job soon after graduating. Although it was tough feeling the hard knocks of job hunting, Heather (the CEO) was personally involved in the process running regular "job seekers" meetings and keeping tabs on each grad's progress. One day after 6 weeks, 45 applications, 8 interviews and countless emails sent, I was offered 2 great positions within half an hour, one of them being my dream job (where I now work and love).

So yeah, just do it! Any bootcamp will be a great experience if you want to become a web developer, but HackerYou offeres an unparalled community and support network.

The material was presented in a thoughtful and fun manner. The instructors and mentors made available during this course were AMAZING. Both knowledgable and kind they facilitated a wonderful environment for learning. Beyond teaching the material all instructors and mentors showcased the collaborative ethos of working through Front End Wed Dev issues.

The only piece of constructive feedback that I have would be to ensure that the class notes are consistent, between links on the class notes and files made available for download.

I would recommend this class to anyone looking to learn about Web Dev, but not ready to take the full time course.

Long story short: Juno helped me make a career cha...

Long story short: Juno helped me make a career change and get hired as a front-end developer during the COVID-19 pandemic!

In university I studied anthropology and French. I planned to work in academia, but after completing a Master's degree in anthropology I realized that this was not a viable option due to the overly competitive job market and the increasing trend of hiring contract faculty instead of full-time positions. I worked briefly in a sales role at a tech company in Toronto, and then for over 3 years in a customer service role at a call centre.

While working at the call centre, I enrolled in the part-time introduction to web development course at Juno College in October 2019. I had dabbled in building websites in the past, and I wanted to see if a career change into web development was the right move for me. I chose Juno because of the great reviews online, as well as for financial reasons: if I enrolled in the 9-week bootcamp, the cost of the web development course would be deducted from my bootcamp tuition. At the time, Juno was also the only bootcamp that offered the option of an Income Sharing Agreement, i.e. having the cost of the bootcamp deducted as a percentage of your pay when you are hired as a developer.

I really enjoyed the web development course, so after much deliberation I applied and was accepted for the bootcamp beginning in February 2020, as well as the 2 week full-time JavaScript course running just before it. I quit my job at the call centre, and my journey began! After having taken three courses at Juno so far (Web Development, JavaScript, and Bootcamp) I can say that I am absolutely thrilled with my experience. Here are some of the highlights:

-The course materials are cutting-edge, easy to understand, and constantly being updated. As a Juno graduate, you have access to the course materials for life, even as they continue to be updated!
-The instructors are all fantastic. Experienced, knowledgeable, patient, funny, understanding, friendly, engaging, and passionate are the main adjectives that come to mind.
-The Career Services team really knows what they are doing. During and after bootcamp, they provide tips and guidance on how to get your first job as a developer. This process is very thorough, and I was really impressed by how they hold your hand through becoming part of the tech community, building a personal brand, and successfully marketing yourself to stand out to employers. Similar to the course materials, they are always looking for ways to improve and give their graduates an edge in the job market.
-The community of students, alumni, instructors, and Juno staff is super friendly, welcoming, inclusive, and all-around great. I made so many new friends!

Three weeks into my bootcamp, COVID-19 struck and all Ontario schools closed. Initially Juno proposed that we immediately continue classes remotely, but there was backlash from many of my classmates who had concerns about the quality of a remote bootcamp and their ability to take part from home. Juno listened to this feedback and decided to pause bootcamp for three weeks, hoping that the crisis would blow over by then. Unfortunately the pandemic situation worsened, but over the three week break Juno prepared a seamless transition to remote learning, and have since made significant accommodations to do right by their students. The three weeks also gave us as students more time to prepare for the new reality. This is just one example of how accommodating Juno is, how they can nimbly make changes and improvements when necessary, and how they always put their students first!

My last day of bootcamp was May 15th 2020, and in July of 2020 I was hired as a Front-End Developer at Greenpeace Canada! It speaks volumes that Juno College was able to help me achieve this even during a pandemic, and I am forever grateful. I look forward to taking more courses at Juno as I continue to level up my skills :)

HackerYou is unique in the fact that it was founded by a woman who aims to empower others. Upon stepping into HackerYou's space for the first time, I felt welcome due to feeling represented by the staff and students there.

I have been taught by Tom, Katie, Mark, and Shang of the ConEd team and I can vouch to say these are all passionate individuals who are able to articulate and teach code to non-coders. Project work for Web Development Fundamentals/Advanced Web Development mimicked real life projects of PSD to HTML/CSS conversions, so it was practical.

After Accelerated web development classes, I was admitted into bootcamp and had a wonderful experience. The content was well-paced. Project work was assigned as soon as we learned the concept, forcing us to apply our learnings. We also had fobs to the building, allowing us to code past midnight if needed (which some students opted some nights). Bootcamp buddies were also assigned to students so we had some emotional support if needed.

I made some lifelong friends out of HackerYou's bootcamp, and some supportive alumni-turned-mentors who I hope to keep in touch with for as long as either of us shall live.

I had minimal knowledge about Web Development prior to attending HackerYou and I feel as though I have learned a great deal over the past 12 weeks. There are many schools in Toronto with a Web Dev learning program but I am definitely glad that I chose HackerYou. The environment is fun and friendly and the learning style is positive and reinforcing. All of the lesson materials are in simple terms which help with the sometimes complex language of the internet. Although the part-time program is fast-paced, the instructors ensure that everyone is on the same page and take the time to truly help you if you don't quite understand something. There are in-class exercises and code alongs to aid in student comprehension of the material and the take home projects were a great way to showcase our newly learned skills. I feel like this course has prepared me for the full-time bootcamp. I highly recommend HackerYou if you are looking to learn a new skill or are interested in a complete career change!

I took the web development immersive course upon r...

I took the web development immersive course upon recommendations of multiple people I knew. My goal for this course was to gain technical competency in front-end web development as a focus, with a background in interaction design. The bootcamp exceeded my expectations and offers not only a great technical curriculum to arm you with skillsets and toolkits for a successful entry into front-end development, but it challenges and prepares you culturally as well.

Advancing my career in development posed multiple challenges, but with the help of the HackerYou community and so many extra-curricular activities such as partnering with alumni working in the industry, extra topic-based sessions with volunteer alumni, industry days and demo day, I gained the confidence and the mindset to be able to fully become a front-end developer within a matter of 9 weeks, breaking into a new industry that was completely foreign to me before.

What stood out most was the dedication and the energy that the instructors brought to class. Everyday was engaging, and every question I had was met with utmost patience. I have HackerYou's team to thank for a career-changing experience and would highly recommend this course to those who are dedicated in advancing their career in front-end development. Thank you!

I enrolled in the PT Web Dev course in the Spring of 2017. It was an amazing experience and I am so glad I decided to go through with it. I attended classes twice a week after a full- day of work but I never dreaded it, I was always excited to come to class. Believe me I like my free-time outside of work but I never felt like I was compromising that. For the first time in my life I really enjoyed going to school and I knew it was time well spent. My instructor Haris was great. Very funny, engaging, smart, and easy to talk to. I would 100% recommend taking his classes and I will be seeking out more opportunities to learn from him. The class projects are comparable to real life scenarios and are a great way to refine the skills learned in lectures.

I started with a promising career; working as a Mu...

I started with a promising career; working as a Multidisciplinary Web & Graphic Designer in Australia and England for solid companies. But the travel bug got the better of me and I then spent 6 years in Japan teaching English. When I moved to Canada and tried to jump back into design, the fact that I was brand new in the city and had been out of the industry for so long, made getting work a Herculean task. After some soul searching, I knew I needed to skill up. I spent no small amount of time looking into further education options.

Although I d initially wanted to move into UX design, the positive reviews on community and support at HackerYou won me over. I wanted a course that got you a job and after attending info nights and free workshops all over the city, I found HackerYou extremely welcoming and personable. The large number of women made it very inclusive and I also appreciated that they had a process in place that didn t just accept EVERYONE. I believe environment plays a huge part in success and in that respect, anyone I studied with would be passionate and committed. The common thread after speaking to numerous alumni was, Do it. You won t regret it.

It wasn t an easy decision huge financial commitment! But when I finally bit the bullet for the Part-Time Web Dev course, my instructor, (former HY grad & instructor, now Shopify superstar, Sylvia Nguyen) made it so much fun that I fell in love with something I once saw as a necessary evil part of the job. I m not completely new to coding as my work in web saw me designing & building websites for clients, but I have absolutely no regrets taking Web Dev Fundamentals as well as Advanced. I upgraded my outdated knowledge and learnt current industry best practices that made me excited about the future of code.

I applied for the Immersive course, not really thinking I d get in because it was sooo competitive. Then I got the acceptance call! Honestly, I wouldn t have passed the tech challenge had I not taken Part-Time before. Doing part-time also gave me confidence in the teaching style, curriculum and quality of instructors.

Bootcamp was no walk in the park; sleepless nights were the norm and JavaScript was an exercise in picking yourself up again and again. But the support was there: The bootcamp team were beyond encouraging and there were games, extra-curricular help, stand-ups and weekly salad clubs to look forward to. Not to mention, my cohort was the absolute best, kindest, most wonderful group of humans EVER.

My review ends happily as two weeks after graduating, I got an offer from an agency and started work the week after. At the time of review, I m still at Beyond Bootcamp and learning advanced JavaScript from yet ANOTHER amazing instructor. The curriculum and school work hard to get you employed. But you have to be proactive as well.

Attending this school was one of the best things I ve ever done for myself. HackerYou gave me more than just my first job in tech as a developer. I also gained a family, a community and a future that I m really excited about!

"You don't truly understand something until you ca...

"You don't truly understand something until you can explain it to your grandma" -A. Einstein. In my experience learning new skills takes on the 80/20 rule. 80% frustrating and 20 wanting to give up. Which is probably why many of us pick up new skills and are quick to give up. HackerYou really understands this. The instructors are helpful and super knowledgeable. You can tell this because they are able to explain concepts at great detail made easy to understand for non-tech people. But most importantly the material, class assignments and projects that foster curiosity and provides enough of a challenge that your knowledge base increases significantly in a very short period of time (although it does not feel that way at the time. But as the saying goes. 'the more you know, the more you know you don't know. :)). Finally a really understated part of HackerYou is the community. The community is made of people just like you. People who are curious, creative, helpful and encourage you to learn. Sometimes it does take a whole village to raise a 'developer'. I've loved my time at HackerYou. So much so that I immediately enrolled in the Javascript/Jquery class! As the saying goes 'I am on a curiosity voyage. HackerYou classes are my paddles. I need my paddles! - Dustin Henderson (Stranger Things)

I'm just finishing up Part-Time Web Development and I have never been more excited about coding than I am now.

Some classes can be fast-paced and have a lot of information, but it's not a lecture-type lesson. You are constantly coding along with the instructor and there is always a mentor available to help. The code-alongs helped a lot when I wanted to look back on how to do certain things for my projects.

I started off with no experience at all and now I'm in the process of building my own website for my last project! It's crazy how much you can learn in such a small amount of time. The instructors/mentors are always available and willing to help. They also give constructive feedback to each student after each project so that they're able to better themselves for the next project. In addition to the course, the community is fantastic - everyone I've met at HackerYou is extremely friendly and welcoming.

Overall, I've very impressed with HackerYou and would recommend the part-time course to anyone who is curious about or wants to get into web development.

I was at a crossroads in my life when I heard abou...

I was at a crossroads in my life when I heard about HackerYou. Fresh after writing the LSAT, I was struggling trying to figure out if that was the right path for me. After a few months of contemplation, I realized that if I was ever going to make a leap of faith into a different field, it had to be then. I started researching the best web-dev programs in Canada, and I narrowed it down to a few before I spoke to a friend and HackerYou alum. She told me about her experience and about how Heather personally motivates you and helps you find your first position after the program. It sounded way too good to be true.

Once I submitted my initial application for the web-dev immersive program, I was told that it would be a great idea to take the part-time course first. A little snag in my plans seeing as how I lived in Ottawa, but it made complete sense and would prepare me/give me a better chance at acceptance.

So I made the leap of faith. I signed a six-month sublease in Toronto with only one plan in mind to take the part time course from January to April, and then the immersive course from April to June.

The part-time course has to be the best way to dip your feet into the field. The full-time immersive program felt like a summer camp. We all felt like we were in it together and wanted to see each other succeed. In both programs, the instructors were among the best I ve come across in my academic career. They are so patient, supportive, and talented. The exact same goes for the staff (including Dug) at HackerYou. Everyone greets you with a smile and makes you feel like part of the family.

Fast-forward one year from when I made this decision I met an incredibly talented and supportive community, I ve made lifelong friendships, and I am genuinely happy on Sunday nights. I look forward to the work I do. HackerYou not only teaches you hard skills, but a mindset that you can learn anything. I can t really put into words how strongly I d recommend HackerYou as a place to learn web development, as it was easily one of the best decisions I ve made.

I took the part time JavaScript program this summer, 2018, and I thought it was a very good class. It gives a really good view into the language and some of the add-on libraries and languages like jQuery, React, and Node.

It was a challenging course but well taught. The teacher was nice and accommodating, as were the mentors, and all were very knowledgeable.

Be sure sure to ask any and every questions you might have and try not to miss any classes as it s easy to fall behind.

Classes were in a nice space that wasn t too difficult to get to if you don t mind the streetcar.

Overall a great experience that I would highly recommend.

HackerYou ranks in the top 10 best experiences of my life! I took the part-time Ruby on Rails course in the spring of 2014. I remember being so excited about what we were learning and how fast we were able to build things! I have an undergraduate and master degree from two Canadian universities and the course material and mentorship at HackerYou are some of the best. I developed great relationships with the people in my class and we often spent time on weekends hanging out and learning in HackerYou's great space. I currently work as a software developer at Shopify (along with 2 of my HackerYou classmates).

I just completed Juno's 2 week Web development course and as challenging as it was for a code newbie, it has been extremely rewarding. 2 weeks ago I was learning about the internet and basic HTML and now I can somewhat successfully create a responsive web page! I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be able to do something so techy. Every master was once a beginner and I hope if you are even remotely interested in coding to call Juno today and learn more!

As an HTML/CSS developer, I have often mulled over learning JavaScript. This past summer, I finally took the leap and enrolled in the part-time JavaScript Fundamentals and Advanced courses at HackerYou.

I chose HackerYou because my daughter is an alumna and I was a first-hand witness to her excellent learning experience when she did the Web Dev course. HackerYou prepared her well for a web development career and gave her confidence to step into the tech world. She enjoyed the HY community so much that after finishing the program, she went back to mentor in a few courses.

Now, I can personally say that it was, indeed, an amazing learning experience! To start, HY is a very welcoming environment. Every HY staff I met was nice. My instructors and mentor (Jordan, Trudy, and Garrett) were knowledgeable and very accommodating; they always made sure no one got left behind in class. I liked the relaxed, but well-structured classes. I never felt uncomfortable asking questions.

The code-alongs were very engaging and I liked that they explained what each snippet of code does. I also learned a lot about the coding process the analysis, the pseudocode, how to approach the solution, the valuable side comments, the real-world tips things you don t get when you do an online course.

The projects allowed us to not only apply what we ve learned but also to challenge ourselves by doing more than what was required. I was amazed at what I accomplished after only several classes into the course. It was definitely very fulfilling to have completed the final project (API)!

At the beginning of the course, I was worried that I might not be able to grasp JS at my age, especially because the lessons were fast-paced. I m glad that I took the leap and challenged myself! It felt good to learn a new skill over the summer!

Now that the course is over, I plan to continue doing JS exercises and small personal projects. If I don t get a chance to try my hand at JS at work, at least I can read and understand some of the code other developers wrote and learn from them. The many $, {}, (), [] aren t foreign to me anymore!

Honestly wish I could give this place a better review. But sadly I can't. The info they present is good, but very surface level. There is very little deep information of why things are working. Yes you will learn the basics to slap together a page, but you will lack the understanding of why it's working. The staff is a mixed bag. Had some decent interactions and had my future there lorded over me. Suffice to say a lot of the expectations at hackeryou is fitting in to the mold of yes men and if you do not, you will not be given the privilege of bootcamp.

Tldr: Did the first intro course, had my future there lorded over me, made a complaint about my treatment and was refunded for the second course I did not attend.

I did the UX design + advanced course in fall of 2018, Ricardo was a great instructor, and the guest lectures were really helpful, however I felt a lot of the class time was spent working on the final project.
The small in-class exercises are a great way to learn, and really helped getting to know the rest of the class as well as developing a working process, but working on the final project could have been left to do during the week that we were out of the class. Or dedicate a half hour at the end of class for questions and review if required.
lecture notes and slides were available to download, however some of the guest lectures weren't available, but all in all you get introduced to a lot of invaluable digital resources, Ricardo is like an encyclopedia for online resources.

I recently graduated from Hackeryou's Web Immersive program. The experience has been exceptional. All the staff are extremely knowledgeable and supportive. Same goes with all my fellow classmates. I never would have imagined making such great friends in such a short amount of time.

The first step that I took was to take the part time Intro and Advanced Web Development courses on the weekends. Shortly after I finished those courses, I started the 9-week Web Development Immersive Program. One of my reasons to go to HackerYou was because a friend of mine who is an alumnus of HY had recommended the school to me. The other reason was because I heard HY was the best there is went it comes to teaching web development.

The 9-week program was very intense but there were lots of support from the staff, students and the HY community. There's ongoing support after graduation with job searching as well. Throughout the courses, my web development knowledge grew from simple self-taught HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript at the start of the part time course to being able to code entire websites in Reactjs.

If you are brand new or have little experience with web development, I highly recommend taking one of the part time web development courses to start with. It ll build a solid foundation and you ll see if the new career path is right for you.

Long story short, HY took me from playing around with HTML and CSS as a hobby to a full time employed front end developer in less than one year. I couldn't be happier with the choice I made with attending HY.

I graduated university and grazed over some web dev courses but never thought it could be something I could do as a career. I didn't know how to go about it further so I decided to go to college for it and absolutely hated my experience. It was old school and dry- I dropped out after one semester.

Two really good friends of mine graduated from the HackerYou Immersive Bootcamp and to quote one of them, said it was "life changing" and so I had to see for myself! After doing the part-time Spring 2018 Web Dev course I can confidently say that I've developed the skills to further grow as a web developer.

I just recently finished taking the Part Time Web ...

I just recently finished taking the Part Time Web Development program at HackerYou and I must say, I am extremely pleased with the experience I had. I am 35, married with two little ones and I had been looking to change career paths for a little bit, having been in my past position for 9 years and not seeing myself going any further in it. I have a bit of self-taught web design / development experience and some programming experience from college but never took a serious pursuit to web development.

When I decided on a career change, I came back to the desire to pursue web development and began with some online courses and reading some books, but felt that I wasn t making the progression I had hoped. After doing some research about programs to take, I came across HackerYou and was intrigued by the programs they offered and what they stood for. After reading all the reviews I could find, highly touting the programs and the instructors, I decided to start out by taking their Part Time program first. I am extremely pleased with that decision.

The instructors and staff at HackerYou are all extremely knowledgable, friendly and helpful, many (if not all) were also former students here themselves. The program was very well laid out, spending ample time on each topic to ensure that the class was able to grasp the concepts. I especially love the ratio of instructors to students, ensuring that the students were able to get their questions answered and the help they need, while still continuing on with the lesson.

The team at HackerYou also does a very good job of ensuring that their course material is continually updated, so that the programs don t feel old and stale and that you are always learning relevant material. I am extremely looking forward to applying to the Full Time Bootcamp coming up this summer (and maybe also the Javascript program down the line as well). I am eager to expand on what I have learned so far and excited to continue fuel the fire that has been lit under me at HackerYou.

HackerYou definitely accepts all students from different academic backgrounds. It doesn't matter what you studied previously, the curriculum is structured to build your skills and create a solid foundation in web development. The pace of the course allows you absorb the knowledge each week and if you get stuck, you have teaching assistants to help you out. The awesome part is that you don't have to wait until the next class to get help on an issue you ran into outside of class. The teaching assistants are available through the slack channel and will try to respond back to you as soon as possible.

Whether it's to gain personal knowledge in the field or if you're looking to transition into a new career. Hackeryou is a great place to begin your journey and would definitely recommend this course for anyone who has an interest in web development.

Going to HackerYou is the best decision I've made professionally. My career prospects have broadened, I have a job that I love, and I have met just the most amazing community they've built around the program.

HackerYou staff really go the extra mile to ensure that their curriculum is always up to date with best practices in front-end development. The community is friendly, supportive and endlessly encouraging. The program was rigorous and challenging, but enlightening and very, very valuable. I've been working as a developer for about 18 months now thanks to HackerYou after trying to break into the field for a year at least before that. HackerYou gave me the experience and the confidence to get my first full-time gig, and the ability to continue to move forward and lead my own education since.

I just completed the Full-Time Web Development Imm...

I just completed the Full-Time Web Development Immersive bootcamp at HackerYou, and I can honestly say that it was an awesome and life changing experience. Heather (CEO) and her team are a group of amazing individuals who go all out to ensure every bootcamp student is extremely well equiped for future careers as developers.

Before the Full Time bootcamp, I worked in the Telecoms industry for 10 years and recently decided I wanted a change in career. After an initial unsuccessful attempt to get into the bootcamp, I was advised by HackerYou to first attend the part-time Web Development course. I truly believe this set me up for success in the bootcamp as I was given a solid foundation in HTML, CSS and JQuery, and I would highly recommend going this route before applying for the bootcamp.

The bootcamp itself was a challenging and rewarding experience. It is designed such that you are taught web technologies and standards which are presently being used in the tech industry. You are also provided with hands-on project-based experience where you would create 6 websites/web applications which can then be showcased in a portfolio website, a critical component in job applications for Junior Developer roles. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and deliver the course content in a clear and easy to understand manner. They also provide excellent feedback and support on all projects assigned during the bootcamp. I was also very impressed with how in-depth and comprehensive the online notes provided by HackerYou were, and you are given lifetime access to these notes as an added bonus. However, I would say my favourite part of the bootcamp was the extremely positive and collaborative environment encouraged by the HackerYou staff. Even on the gloomiest of days, stepping into the HackerYou office quickly brightened your mood; a fact echoed by many of my fellow bootcamp colleagues. Another highlight was the Industry Day Event held on the final afternoon, where students had an opportunity to deliver their elevator pitches to perspective employers through 2 minutes speed interviews, as well as network with these employers afterwards. This was an extremely fun and enjoyable event, the outcome of which I was able to land an interview and an eventual job offer.

Post bootcamp, Heather still has your back. This amazing woman continues to provide invaluable support through the job-hunting process. She provides a tried and tested procedure for approaching job applications and is available at any time to provide advice in navigating this process. If you do receive a job offer, she also has sound advice for negotiating your job offer terms. If you follow Heather's instructions, you WILL get a job.

Lastly, special mention goes to Charlotte, the Bootcamp Operations Manager, who ensured the bootcamp ran very smoothly and provided excellent support to students.

Going to HackerYou was the best decision I've ever made - the programs, instructors, community and support far surpassed every expectation I had.

I initially took the part-time web development course before transferring into the full-time bootcamp. I was offered a job as a developer before even finishing the course based largely on the reputation HackerYou has made for itself within the development community. While it's hard work the instructors are always there for you, as are all of the past cohorts, and your own classmates.

The space is incredibly open and supportive, the instructors are knowledgable and make learning a new language fun (really). I could not say enough great things about everyone there, or thank them enough, the whole experience has changed my life.

I knew I had to go into a classroom setting to lea...

I knew I had to go into a classroom setting to learn coding after several halfhearted attempts trying it myself with online courses. The material in those courses are great and I still use them from time to time but I find that it is all too easy to get discouraged as coding can be downright intimidating to a novice.

Taking the Intro to Web Development and the subsequent Advanced Web Dev courses gave me the structure and guidance I needed to actually absorb the material. I wouldn't say that was all I required though. The assignments forced me to actually commit but it was just as frustrating as when I self-directed my own learning. In fact, after what I thought was a lacklustre submission of the first assignment, I was almost convinced that perhaps coding just wasn't for me.

What actually turned it around for me eventually was something I wasn't really expecting. The people at HackerYou are genuinely passionate and excited about coding. The energy is palpable when you first walk into their office and see all of their Boot-camp students busily typing away.

I mean, maybe it's just me working in Banking and Insurance for 10 years as seeing people actually be passionate about their work just seems all too foreign. But my Instructor's enthusiasm is what kept my attention throughout and motivated me to, at the very least, stay the course.

I'm glad I did. The excitement HackerYou possesses is infectious and it soon rubbed off on me. I eventually got a better grasp of the material taught and impressed myself with work I submitted later into the class.

HackerYou didn't just teach me code, they gave me insight into the industry and what programs, platforms, etc are in use now. The Instructor and TAs showcase a repertoire of their skill-set (many of which were first gained at HackerYou's intensive Boot-camp program) and how they managed to attain them and more importantly, how they keep up to date with the industry as it's constantly in flux.

What I got out of HackerYou's Intro courses wasn't just the basic ability to code but also the insight into how incredibly vast the possibilities are within the industry. The courses I took was just a tiny morsel of what's really out there but now, instead seeing this as an incredibly daunting endeavour and throwing in the towel; I can actually get excited at just how much there is out there and how many different paths I can take for a career change, or a means to an extra stream of income. Or even just to follow a new passion.

I took a UX Design course (Fundamentals and Advanced) last fall with Ricardo and I absolutely enjoyed my experience. I had no prior design experience before joining the course so I was very eager to learn more about UX Design! I was nervous during the first day of class however, that changed quickly and I immediately kept looking forward to coming to class every Saturday. While the hours may seem long, it never felt slow since we were always doing fun design challenges and engage in mini discussions or work in small groups. Ricardo taught his lessons through storyteling and provided so many helpful examples so it was very easy to follow. His feedbacks to your projects are also incredibly insightful.

The course is aimed at students of all levels. So don t be afraid if you ve never taken a design course before! Most of my classmates came from different fields outside of design so it was really interesting to see how they solve and approach problems using the skills and knowledge they have. I still use all the design methods I learned from the course and apply it to my job everyday. I really recommend taking a course at HackerYou!

** EDIT - DEC 2017 **

When I started researching courses earlier this year I was actually skeptical of all the glowing five-star reviews online, but now I'm one of those people saying that this place is really something special - I really can't praise HackerYou highly enough! The staff and instructors go above and beyond to create a cooperative environment in which everyone can safely be pushed to the furthest reach of their ability, and it's incredible to see how fast your class progresses regardless of experience level at the outset.

I recently completed the full-time Web Development Immersive, but the support doesn't end on the last day of Bootcamp. There is an active and knowledgeable Alumni community to participate in, and Heather provides a structured system of guidance through the job-hunting process making the transitory period feel more like an extended learning opportunity. Access to these resources alone would be worth the cost, and with that structure behind me I've never felt more confident in the ability to continue self-directing my own growth.

If you're on the fence about applying for a course, take the advice of a stranger on the internet and go for it - maybe I'll see you soon in the Slack channel! :)

Fresh out of university with a physics degree, I went back to work at Home Depot for over two years. Without a Masters or a PhD, it would've been tough finding a job that interested me. I hated the thought of going back to school for years, needing to take electives I didn't want to take, worrying about my average, and buying more textbooks.

HackerYou was the solution I needed. I took the part-time web development fundamentals course, which fit my retail store schedule, and then quit my job when I got into the bootcamp. Just a month and a half out of bootcamp I got a fantastic job as a web developer.

At HackerYou we learned industry-relevant languages, best practices, and tools that I use at my job every day. Even since my cohort ended in January, HackerYou has updated its curriculum with the most popular Javascript topics and latest tools for accessibility.

I loved that there was no massive lecture hall, no old professor teaching an outdated curriculum, and no competitive atmosphere. This school is welcoming and fun, something I didn't think could help me learn as much as I did. The instructors and mentors are top notch: they are as committed to every student's learning are they are their well-being. They will push you to do your best, but make sure you're taking care of yourself.

I also made amazing friends and invaluable connections all over the tech scene in Toronto from HackerYou's extensive network of alumni (who remain heavily involved in the HackerYou community - that says something).

My team at work is 100% HackerYou graduates and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I literally owe my career to this school, and highly recommend even trying out a free workshop just to see what it's like!!

I took the intro and advanced Web Development course at HackerYou with some knowledge of coding and finished it with a better understanding of how to build any website from scratch with the proper techniques. The mentors and instructor were so kind and helpful with the class to solve any problem that would be encountered while we were coding. The overall learning experience was phenomenal and the HY community was amazing. I never experienced this type of learning environment at any other school that would help me out at any point of time if I was stuck on trying to fix an error in my code. I would recommend the part time courses and the full time program if you want to learn more about how to become a better coder as a future web developer.

I was pretty jaded towards school by this point, but HackerYou really turned that around for me. I'd gone through University and colleges and had sort of bounced around a few career paths. I was wary going back to school, especially a tech bootcamp after all the "real school" i'd done... it was super intense, I met some great people and in a very short time I was a working professional in the field. Bam, best school.

I took the part-time web development hoping to just add a new skill set. I ended up learning and enjoying the course so much that I applied for the full time immersive bootcamp. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and are able to speak from real life experiences in the industry which is extremely practical. If you are not able to picture yourself using something that you are learning, you will get real life examples from three different sources as to how that might be useful to you. Following along during the code-along is extremely helpful because the instructors take you through their step-by-step thought process which gives you a really good example of how to approach your own projects. This course will surprise you as to how much you can learn in such a short amount of time. Would highly recommend taking a course with HackerYou.

I would highly recommend HackerYou to everyone who is interested in learning more about web development! I completed the Spring 2018 part time Intro to Web Dev course and I fell in love with it. I was looking to steer my career in a different direction from what I have been doing for 4 years, and always had an interest in web development so I decided to try the part time course to see if I really enjoyed the work. I looked around and saw all the great reviews about HackerYou and only heard great things from fellow coworkers who were alumni and decided to apply. It was the best decision I've made because I really fell in love with it and found that I can see myself changing my career path and doing web development long term. I had no prior knowledge in development but after completing this course and with the help of my awesome instructor, Tom, and mentors, Jen, Darshana, and Aly, I feel like I have a really great understanding of HTML and CSS. I was able to put this to the test with the projects we were assigned during the course. It was really exciting to use what I've learned and produce an end product that I had no prior knowledge of 4 months ago! After I complete the part time course, I will be going the full-time bootcamp to continue my education! I am so excited, and can't stress enough about how great HackerYou has been! :)

I just completed the Part-time Web-development course at HackerYou (2018). I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and learnt so much about web-development and coding in these few months than I did in my 3 years of college studying computer science! Jazz is an amazing instructor! She explains even the hardest concept with ease and in detail. And, it also helps that all the instructors are so knowledgeable, energetic and positive! Once you enter the class you know that you will be learning something exciting. Thank you Jazz, Melissa, and Jamie for all your help and patience!

I just completed a 12-week Part-Time Web Development program at HackerYou, and can say without a doubt that it was the most enriching learning experience of my life thus far.

From the moment I walked through the door for my tour of the campus, I've been greeted with a smile, and that feeling of welcomeness has been a common theme during my experience at HackerYou. My instructor, Kristen, and the mentoring made class a very fun and interactive learning experience and I looked forward to every class, which is saying lot for me since I've generally been disinterested and would lose focus with more traditional learning styles. I had no previous background in web development, and the facilitators are very patient and understanding in helping you learn each new concept.

However, as many people before me have mentioned, the big highlight for me has been the sense of community that HackerYou instilled from Day 1. I am looking forward to continuing the learning journey with the new friends I've made at the Bootcamp and beyond, and I feel that the Part-Time program has instilled the skills necessary to apply for the Bootcamp and succeed.

In recap, don't hesitate to learn at HackerYou if you have any interest in Web Development. You won't regret it.

As a graduate of the Web Development Immersive Bootcamp, I had a wonderful nine weeks here at HackerYou. We covered a lot of the basics and were able to build on our fundamentals by the introduction of more advanced concepts. The staff are very kind, extremely knowledgeable and up to date with new technologies. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience and I invite anyone who wants to become involved in code to apply.

I had an extremely positive experience at Juno College during the Accelerated Web Development course Summer 2020. I started the course completely from scratch (without knowledge about web development) and I completed the course feeling prepared to join soon the Web Development Bootcamp at Juno as well. It was a challenging course since I was completely newbie about coding but, in the end, being able to complete all project successfully, it was hugely worthwhile and rewarding. It was great receiving support and feedback from mentors and teacher as well as participating in such amazing Slack community. To conclude, I had an amazing experience at Juno and now I am looking forward to taking the web development boot camp with them.

HackerYou is totally first class. I have only great things to say.

I was accepted into the bootcamp following the part-time web dev course, which I started immediately after high school. A month after graduating, I'm now happily employed and the course will have paid for itself by the end of the year, easily.
My peers have 3 years of school left at least.

(I should also mention that my sister was hired by Facebook shortly after she completed the same bootcamp)

When I applied I was met graciously by Heather, the CEO, who's invaluable advice and post-bootcamp support in the job search is worth easily as much as the practical learning.

During the bootcamp I had the pleasure of working with an amazing group of likeminded, diverse individuals who not only supported each other through the course, but encouraged staying hours late every day to maximize learning. HackerYou has a hell of a knack for picking great folks for their classes.

The instructors are very invested in their students and the mood is always friendly, supportive and you will always get a nudge when you need one. Each student will give a presentation, to give students a sense of what business in-talks include. I needed a nudge for this as I'm not a confident speaker. Afterwords I ended up being one of the students who spoke at the Demo Night, which would not have happened without the support I felt constantly.

I left HackerYou every day looking forward to the next class. Each day is personally vindicating and empowers you to keep learning and moving forward.

I'm very confident that the future of education looks a lot like HackerYou, and it's coming soon.

I started my journey with HackerYou back in the fall of 2012 and their first part-time web development class. I've since gone on to take a number of other classes with them, including the full-time bootcamp in winter 2014. Not only did I receive a supportive education that led me to landing my dream job as an interactive news developer, I've personally witnessed HackerYou's steadfast commitment to teaching industry best practices and providing a quality technical education. They have never hesitated to adapt their curriculum or course offering in order to position their students for success.

With no experience or idea that I'd want to turn code into a career I took the part time Intro to Wed Dev course at HY and less than 6 months after completing it went back for the full time immersive Bootcamp.
I spent 9 weeks making friends, learning wonderful new skills, solving millions of problems, and accomplishing something I could never have imagined. The alumni community and the team at HY are unparalleled at offering all the help, support, guidance, and direction that anyone could need. Everyone has good and bad days but at HY you know that if it's good you'll have people you can genuinely celebrate with and if it's bad you'll have support and help in whatever manner you need them!

The class, the people, the location everything was great and convenient. After three months taking the part-time web development class, I have a much better understanding of HTML5 and CSS3. Learning Flexbox and some SCSS languages were my primary goals, and I m confident using them. I found it more difficult to dive into some advanced topics (JavaScript, jQuery) because of the nature/complexity of the content, and time but overall, I'm very happy.

I took the part-time JavaScript course at HackerYou and now I'll be going into the full-time Bootcamp. I highly recommend HackerYou. They have an incredible support system and a team of dedicated teachers/mentors who are always willing to help.

Tiff was my instructor and she as amazing. The pacing of the class was good and HackerYou takes into account feedback from the students. Tiff tailored the lessons to our class and I appreciate that we are always taught the latest in web development.

Prior to entering HackerYou, I was attending a college for computer programming. I have to say that HackerYou was a major upgrade. The instructors here have current experience in the field and they are always pushing themselves to learn what is trending in the industry so they can pass that information on to their students. They are knowledgeable and invested in the success of their students.

Update:
I've completed the HackerYou Web Development Immersive Bootcamp and I'm happily employed after a week and a half of job hunting. A lot of people have asked me what's the difference between HackerYou and other bootcamps and the answer is the community at HackerYou. Your classmates will become your family. Alumni will return to help tutor and support you. The Instructors work hard to teach you how to code and the entire HackerYou team is there to help build your confidence so when you graduate not only are you a solid coder but you're also able to talk about your work. There's really no comparison this is the best school if you want to become a front-end developer.

Worth the price. I know a lot of people talk about prices being steep, but when you factor in what you get when you get to the Web Development Bootcamp (the skills to make a great career change), it's worth it.

Great staff, great teachers, great community of alumni around you. My experience here is nothing short of stellar.

Anyone who is looking to get into web development needs to be starting here first.

I took the front end dev bootcamp at HackerYou during the fall of 2016. It was super challenging but I learned an incredible amount during the 9 weeks. One week after I graduated I got a job at a Toronto agency. The community at HY is inclusive and diverse! Highly recommend taking courses here, it's worth the money ^_^

I attended Hacker You's Full time front end bootcamp AND the UX Design class. I learned so much from both courses and was propelled into my career in tech. The UX course with Ricardo gave me the foundations I needed to break into a UX design role, I still reference my notes from the course. Ricardo is an amazing instructor and is super supportive in helping you formulate your ideas and execute them in professional manner.

Would I recommend Hacker You to others? Most definitely, Yes!!!! Before attending each course I did a ton of research and what attracted me to HY both times was their dedication to diversity and inclusion and not to mention Hack You is a female founded college.

Not only are the courses extremely informative but the community is extremely supportive and I would pay the course amount for the slack channel alone. Totally worth the value.

10/10 would attend again.
