The Hotel - A bit overrated overall

Historic place, large rooms with nice views, luxurious. Quite oasis in the midst of buzzing Udaipur - central location to walk to most sight seeings. Bar in spectacular setting - go for a game of pool at the dedicated room next to reception

For such a luxurious and pricy establishment, service not top notch. Three in our group caught food poisioning from hotel breakfast buffet ... the only during the India trip after all the eating at local places

This is a FANTASTIC hotel and what distinguishes this is the excellent service and attitude of the entire staff! They go above-and-beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable, making whatever you want, happen. And that too with smile! Their restaurant was amazing and I loved the Fish Jasamandi - if you like fish try this for sure! The lake views and the sunset views are fantastic and that too from the comfort of your room's balcony (make sure to choose the lake-facing rooms!) Great experience!

It's mesmerising to live at the Shiv Niwas Palace. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. The food is absolutely homely with authentic flavours from Mewar homes. Do try the traditional dishes of the region while eating at the restaurants.

Impressive ...... is an experience to be lived for those who love Indian heritage, real lifestyle, Rajisthani architecture. The hotel staff is very hospitable. The rooms are sumptuous and the famous pool is the best place for lunch.

Truely a royal experience. This heritage Palace is right next to the City Palace of Udaipur, which certainly gives you the vibe of Royalty. The bar and restaurant both had amazing drinks and authentic food. The royal suite was spacious, best view was from the balcony which overlooked entire Lake Pichola and the mountain ranges. The golf cart can drive you around the Palace premises. Mr Arjun Singh (Sales Manager of HRH group) truely deserves great appreciation as he helped us throughout our stay, and yes we extended our stay which was just amazing. All precautions were taken by the staff during our stay keeping Covid-19 in mind. Thank you once again. Highly recommended!!!

There is Udaipur and there is Shiv Niwas Palace. It's a complete, self contained piece of the best that Udaipur has to offer. As close as a commoner can get to living the royal life. Magnificent environs. Sprawling campus that includes the museum's and the lake. Breathtaking architecture that has been lovingly and painstakingly restored. This is a must do experience that will stay with you, long after you return home
The suites are stunningly decorated. Service and amenities are top notch. Dinner by the pool is romantic with live music. Food is pretty good. We tried the laal Maas which was as good as it gets. But the ambience overwhelms all the senses and the palate. Sunset over the lake was memorable. Highly recommend this as the last stop of your Rajasthan tour.

Shiv Niwas is a pleasant place. It has a private terrace and then a room sometimes it can have a private terrace and two rooms. It also has a huge pool. In the morning you get breakfast where you need to pick the food then you need to pick if you want to eat lunch or dinner.both the menu's are same for lunch and dinner. For lunch and dinner the waiter comes to you and you tell him what you want to eat.please visit shiv Nivas palace .

Everything about my stay exceeded expectations. The palace was beautiful with so much intricate detail to it. Very well maintained by staff and all were very welcoming. Food was delicious and there was so much variety. Never got sick from it and I have a sensitive stomach. When I asked for alternative milks they went way out of their way to get some for me. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating which made the stay very relaxing. The room was extremely clean and beautifully decorated and the views onto udaipur were stunning. I would definitely come back to this hotel in a heartbeat.

The place where your royal dreams come alive. The history will mesmerize you. The views will blow your mind. No wonder its also know as the Venice of East. The interiors do require a re vamp. They seem to be as old as the palace.

Most friendly and helpful receptionist ever, so lovely and great first impression of hotel. The restaurant staff were just lovely and the food was amazing I was very pleased with my stay, and although short and sweet this time, I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

The hospitality was good . Breakfast really felt like a royal breakfast. We stayed in the palace room and the room quality was decent . The palace is really big , so a lot to explore . Museum is walking distance from the rooms.

We were so excited while entering in this palace. ...

We were so excited while entering in this palace. It was our dream to live like 'Raja-Maharaja' atleast for a day!
We asked security to call some one to pick our luggage and no one came for it. Finally we carried with our own, sadly no one was there to welcome us till reception.
After couple of minutes Mr. Vikrant aproached to complete the formalities to checked in, they also offered welcome drink.
After 10mins we have been alloted ' palace room' as per our booking.
With ao much expectations we opened first door of room and it was small open area before the room ( we felt more excited to see main room), then we entered in our room and it was big disappoiment!

Main room : Its just a very small room with queen size bed, hardly any space to move there, room furniture looks very old and does not contain the quality of a star hotel.

After entering i realised that 3 items were missing from the fridge. ( so kindly cross check it to avoid further misunderstandings.

Bathroom : wash basin, english commode, small bath tub with shower attached on top. 2 towels, one bathrobe, 2 napkins were provided. There is a extra mirror in front of commode. Weighing scale is also availble.

We requested Mr. Vikrant to allot any better option as oer the availability of any room, we were also ready to pay more for better room. He told us to apporoach 'MAKE MY TRIP' to give room in any other hotel as all the rooms were booked. ( its 9 pm at that time). Finally we decided to stay here to avoid spoiling our trip.
We found there were so many empty rooms.

FOOD : food was tasty but waiters were looking so serious with their looks and attitude. They were not giving options to select your food. Also you need to keep ask them that what are included in dinner package( as we booked our room with food)
You will not get sweets untill u demand for it.

Morning Breakfast : menu : 2 juices, 3-4 types dryfruits, fruits, chocos, cornflakes with cold milk, small kachori, sev.
Also we had to order as per the menu.
We orderd : poha, puri bhaji, chocolate milk shake, strawberry milkshake, masala dosa.
I must say breakfast was so average they used too much turmeric in Poha and Potato veg(for dosa)... I wonderd why They havent used coriander in both items.
Then we move ahead to se other part of palace and surprise to see that we have to take ticket to visit other part of this palace. Managemet has taken some part of this palace to run the business and every guest has to purchase ticket.
Finally we decided to do check out to explore other part of Udaipur.
Thank you.
Managment : please keep trained staff as customers are coming with so high expectations ( by paying 2-3 times higher charges than other star hotels) Atleast give liberty to gustes to see entire palace in same cost.
