Was a great place to stay in the heart of Udaipur... Felt like a royal.. just a few staff especially the gaurds could have been more polite...paying such a price you always want to roam freely at property.. but was refused by some rude gaurds...on the brighter side food was great.. room service excellent

We were fortunate enough to stay at one of the terrace rooms. Absolutely fantastic experience. Spectacular water views, incredibly spacious and immaculately furnished rooms with two balconies. The staff were exceptional, friendly and very helpful. The first morning we had room-service set menu breakfast which was nice but the 2nd morning we ate at the restaurant and tried traditional Indian breakfast which was out of this world. Walking distance to the busy little town and plenty to do within a short distance of the hotel. I just wish that we had booked more nights at this hotel. If we ever come back to India this will absolutely be first on the list of places to revisit.
I paid for the Royal suite for my son's honeymoon, but they gave him the Terrace suite ( one grade lower) which was very dirty. All the while they insisted that they had given the Royal suite. upon complaining, they gave him the Imperial suite the next day , which was dirtier than the Terrace site that he had stayed the previous night, Then the next day they put him in the Fateh Prakash Hotel. I have all the photos to prove this. See the attached photos. Avoid this Hotel at all cost. We wanted to stay at the Oberoi Uday Villas, but it was booked out. Stay at the Taj or the Leela instead.
Located right in the heart of udaipur near lake pichola, the view is to die for. You will fall in love with this place. Perfect getaway if you want to experience royalty. Great service and courteous staffs. This place is definitely worth staying.
The rooms are quite ordinary, like rest house.. Not as showing in the picture... Location is good and staff is also supportive but you will find other 5 star hotels easily better than this.. Food is average and very costly.. 2000rs per plate per person..
Shiv Niwas Palace offers beautiful, yet differing suites and rooms to choose from 17 individually decorated suites carry original furniture and portraits that have been with the royal family for generations. All the suites look out onto the natural panorama of Udaipur. Unparalleled splendor and spaciousness characterise each room. Guests to Shiv Niwas Palace like to return time and again. The hospitality is unchanged from the not-so-distant times when Shiv Niwas Palace was a royal guesthouse. #letsguide #ghelp #gmap
A beautiful heritage property converted into hotel. The interiors are fabulous. The ambience is lovely. And the food served by them is awesome. In the heart of Udaipur city facing lake pichola this is a perfect stay option for a king size holiday experience. The staff is very humble and polite and quite helpful with regard to any stuck up situation. The food served is again worth an appreciation. Service is prompt and efficient. The interiors and facade is so interesting that it will keep you caught up for most of the time during your stay. Observing it and watching it .
Very nice place to stay. We had a luxury room with view on the lake and the Lake Palace. It costs extra of course, but it makea the stay very romantic. Very helpful staff as well.
Posh hotel set in the City Palace but that lacks modern finishings. Friendly service and a nice pool to relax at. The bar by the pool is absolutely stunning visually.
Team has demostrated great respect towards guests. Food is good and is served with lot of care and hospitality. Each and every member working there shows humanity and concern... you feel really good being with them..
It's really great to stay at palace has really important place in Indian history. Every thing from rooms, service, food was truly Royal in all sense. Our fav area was pool deck restaurant where we can spend some quality time.
The only good thing about this hotel is yoy wilk get a royal feeling because it's inside the City palace. Apart from it, hospitality needs to improve for what they are charging.
Live like the king's lived, in the king's own Palace at Shiv Niwas Palace hotel. This hotel is a part of the actual palace of the Mewar Kings and hosts the king's living quarters. Situated in the banks of the Lake Pichola, it offers majestic sunset and sunrise views of the lake with royal treatment. While you lay in the comfort of your royal suite, sir on tour balcony sipping tea as you watch the sunrise, dine at the elegant restaurant of the hotel or lunge by the pool, you will not for a moment forget that you are in the midst of a royal setting. Plus, guests at the hotel get to view exclusive areas of the City Palace Complex which are not open to visitors
We were indeed staying inside a palace, quiet, serene, , the building is beautiful, the lake side sunset is mesmerising. They provide transport to ear by properties on the lake and on land :) .The room was good, the food in the hotel was a bit too pricy for us so we ate outside. The hotel spa is really bad and highly overpriced
We visited the restaurant facing the city palace. It was a really beautiful view to see plus the place was also small and pretty. We ordered a pizza and an ice-tea. The pizza was the best you can find in Udaipur without any doubt. And the ice tea was also fine. A must visit place for the pizza lovers.
We were staying at shiv niwas palace for 2 nights. That was a reasonable amazing stay . The associated restaurant was amazing too , we couldn t use the spa services there . But at least we could cover the fort for sightseeing. This is one of those amazing forts I have ever stay . We were here a little early , which is before our checkin time and the reception staff are so nice and they allowed us to early checkin ( 5 hrs early) which is more appropriable .
I stayed in for a night in the terrace suit and what amazing rooms! Hospitality at its peak and the food was so so delicious. All the precautions were taken for covid-19.
Visited restaurant for lunch. Food was good. Particularly liked sev Puri and Brownie. Ambience is good. If you are lucky to get zarokha seats then you get good view of the city.
A shame! Dishonest high pricing for such a ugly rooms. Very dirty. Very old furniture. Unfriendly staff. Ugly view to the city from dirty windows. Please do not stop at this hotel. Don't waste your money as we did. Don't believe to that good reviews from Indian people. It's all not true. Big disappointment. It spoiled our vacation.
Beautiful, heritage hotel. Excellent food, especially the regional dishes. Ker sangri is a must try. Hotel staff is very well trained to cater to guest's needs, and the ambience is quiet and private. The bar has a lake view to the West (sunset views!). Landscaping and grounds are well-maintained with local flora and fauna viewing opportunities. If you stay here, don't miss the beautiful green parrots that visit the fountain in the courtyard for their daily morning 'bath"! This hotel is adjacent to the City Palace and within walking distance to the Crystal Gallery, Jagdish Temple, and other local sightseeing attractions.
Never thought we will be living in a palace actually, so entering Shiv Niwas itself gave us a grand feeling. The welcome area is simply royal and gives you such a warm feeling. Rooms aren't super spacious (we happened to get one of the side rooms which looked like rooms used by palace guards in the earlier days) but still they make you feel like you are part of a palace, so that was good enough! Rooms around the swimming pool seemed bigger and better. It was serendipity when we realized that the swimming pool and dining area were actually places shot in the Bond movie "Octopussy". The overall ambiance & hospitality was really good. Best place to stay in Udaipur if you want a semi-royal experience.
