Super interesting .... the explanations on the construction of castles in the Middle Ages: breathtaking.
Unique in its kind, we find ourselves in the past with the trades before to build a "new" castle of the Middle Ages. To have.
It is exotic as possible, authentic! Between the kitchen garden, the craftsmen who build the buildings, masonry, wood, construction machinery, finishes .... I made a visit in good weather and it was a real pleasure, a day is not enough ! Easy access with a large parking, a way to eat on site. Impeccable toilets, warm welcome, everything is done to savor this adventure with happiness. Thank you
we found very rude the waitress of the restaurant and the people of the workshop pigment we felt to disturb them otherwise a lot of nice people
Diving in the heart of the work I appreciated the kindness and the explanations of the people who participate in this beautiful and long adventure
Magnificent castle under construction as in the Middle Ages. A dynamic team ready to teach us their know-how
So what can we say? Guedelon still has many good years to live but without volunteers (coronavirus cause) this is likely to continue. We go there every two or three years and what we deplore are the restaurants. The wcs (with hygienic standards ok) but hey the rest of modernity
Very surprising ! A place that leads to reflect and reconsider the Middle Ages.
Very interesting tour for both children and adults. Everything is well thought out: picnic area, shaded area ... Arrived at 10:30 am and left at 16h, it is necessary to go around quietly. The +: online booking with the "family pass" to 44 .
Already visited in 2005 but still as much pleasure to see this work accomplished in the rules of the medieval and the time spent explaining to onlookers with a smile
Thanks again to them
We came to see the evolution of the castle impressive beautiful work
Superb place and initiative. Appointment by 2025 for the inauguration (if all goes well).
An educational site for all ages. Do as much for the prowess of artisans, as to perfect his knowledge of history or to share a pleasant bucolic moment alone or with family.
Disappointed. Present on the site from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm and we only saw empty stalls, no demonstration. I had come 15 years ago, it was otherwise dynamic.
A site open to the public, and builders who use medieval techniques to build this beautiful castle of the 20th century early 21st century, excellent ... The workshops can see these techniques, ask questions and More
Already visited 10 years ago, impressed by the working methods of the time. Super guided tour
Superb visit. The project is interesting and the craftsmen are fascinating.
Super castle built by people who noble crafts I say to you bravo
An excellent site where good humor, good reception and professionalism are at the rendezvous. We were a school group of about 45 CM and 6th grade children and we had a great day. The children learned a lot while having fun. The guided tour was perfect and the stone cutting workshop was a great success with the students. Nothing to say, well done!
Super and very interesting!
Craftsmen are available and educationalists
I haven't been there yet but it won't be long. According to a television program it is about the construction of a medieval castle with the old methods. End of work scheduled for 2025
Brilliant day out with the kids, visited before and it's amazing to see the progress of the place
Very nice job. It was grandiose. By cons too expensive restoration sandwich 5,50 (2 slices of bread and rosette). And salad made of carrots cucumber beetroot cabbage and salad 6euros 50. I find it a little exaggerated. Thank you
They still have something to improve, but it's very beautiful
Every year since the beginning of the construction I go there with my grandparents to see how to evaluate it. All done by hand. It's beautiful you learn a lot like carving stone, dyeing clothes, grinding grains to make flour, making tools, taking care of animals. It has free parking with a restaurant and toillettes.bien-sure the castles are visited. The dogs are accepting and the prices are affordable. There are a lot of people during the summer school holidays.
Allows you to discover the construction of a fortified castle in a fun way at your own pace or with a guide.
The facilitators explain in a clear and didactic way the functioning of their workshop (blacksmith, stonemason, baker, carpenter, ...)
The farm part will delight children (pigs, horses, sheep, geese, ...)
On the negative side, it would be beneficial to better distribute refreshments and toilets, on the Moulin side it will be necessary to cross the entire site in order to access these amenities.
In addition the prices could be revised slightly downwards, I advise you to take your picnic (possibility to have lunch outside and then come back).
It remains a nice outing to do or do again with the family that will also delight history or experimental archeology lovers.
Interesting concept, using medieval methods to recreate a medieval chateau. I couldn't help but wonder if this was conceived a a genuine research experiment or as a serious commercial exercise; if the number of visitors we experienced is typical then it certainly succeeds as the later. The crowds meant we had to park in the hastily constructed overflow car park which felt like it was about 1km from the entrance, this wasn't so bad as we need to exercise off the great food from the previous evening not to mention the substantial breakfast, however it is worth spending time in the car park to watch the attendants trying to deal with the volume of cars coming in, it was a farce with cars being directed into parking areas with no spaces and no exit except the way in although this was no blocked by further cars being misdirected. Actually I was glad I didn't spend too long laughing at this comedy as I would have missed the medieval workers who all stop for lunch between 1 and 2 and that would have been a mistake as it was fascinating watching the skills required to make a rope or split wood for tiles or to carve a mantle out of stone, amazing! The chateau is coming on a treat and should be finished by 2020 hopefully by this time they'll have sorted out the parking. Seriously it is a good half day out, take a picnic lunch!
I enjoyed the day. There are a few things to improve such as:
Explanations on the entire course of the work (which is done only for groups with guide which are in supplements).
A real restaurant area, but from the time.
Activities so that the park becomes fun.
Very very very good, do not hesitate to take the tour guide for the first visit.
Coming with three small children I found that the activities offered were very expensive. It is a significant surplus in addition to an entry price which is not given
Superb site with a very nice welcome. The truth is in passion. Bravo.
The construction of a castle with the techniques of the Middle Ages, using the materials available in the forest and quarry around the building.
Fantastic. You will find yourself in the twelfth century, a time when wheat did not exist in its present form. Christopher Columbus will not discover America until 1492. So no potatoes, beans, tomatoes. ..
A time when we did sustainable development without knowing what it was. You will learn a lot about bread and lime.
To visit to stop talking nonsense about the Middle Ages.
To be done every 3 or 5 years in order to observe the evolution of this unique castle. The craftsmen demonstrate all their know-how in an architecture that gives pride to the trades of yesteryear. Beautiful work.
Real builders through their ancestral knowledge.
Well done, they know how to put themselves at our level to explain their jobs and their various tasks.
A place of discovery and wonder for all ages. Passionate people. Well done !
Super experience to visit this medival site.
Take the guided tour (+3 or 17 ), the latter is provided by enthusiasts and allows self-financing this construction.
Bravo to all those who work for the realization of this magnificent medieval site!
Complete and fun the day in Guedlon with the kids. To do
To do with children! ! Handsome work of the craftsmen of the respect of means of the Middle Ages
Beautiful experience, beautiful site well commented by our guide.
An exceptional place. Very interesting. The speakers are passionate with incredible knowledge always ready to answer your questions. Great family.
A superb restoration to the old for this castle. To watch again and again. 10 years later we returned and the castle has evolved, the towers are mounted. Bravo to all these volunteers.
Very interesting guided tour and welcome from the artisans. To do as a family, everyone will find their account and will leave having learned a lot. Extra!
This is a nice project. Everything is whitin the theme of the park and no electrical or other modern equipment is allowed. it is a verry nice place to see and gives a lot of insight how people lived and made everything to accomplish the castles we have standing in europe.
Very beautiful place to visit traces the history of France
Reasonable friendly worker always there to inform you
I will come back as I always do to see the evolution
For a castle born in 1996, the illusion is spectacular, do not hesitate to make the visit a detour really worth it.
Really interested in medieval history so a brilliant place to go!
Disappointed. Pity:
- very badly received by the craftsmen to whom I asked questions
- a lot of children and noise. "Children" slots should be reserved
- the information (panels) is quite limited
- high price, prohibitive for a family (14 euros / person)
- medieval restaurant with plastic roof! price of a simple bottle of water..prohibitive.
The architectural achievement is beautiful, free parking! surprisingly, there would be (still) money to be won.
Where is the "medieval spirit" among artisans?
Finally, who manages this site ??
Great damage.
Even better than we imagined. They are true enthusiasts! Children's workshops and on-site restaurants
Very nice, ideal with a guide that explains the principle of the site
Site to visit when one passes in the region. I allow myself to recommend a whole day to this visit. It is better to arrive at the opening and do the guided tour. Then the rest of the day to talk with the people who work at different positions. Do not forget to go to the mill, the "miller" is no longer interesting, and in his own words a real mill word. To do without hesitation, we learn a lot of things.
Amazing magical place. I will be going back in some time.
Awesome what a pleasure to see these artisans builders work with their know-how and their heart. Thanks to them and long live the craft.
Hammer!
You have to experience it.
Absolutely awesome ... We were there for the second time and are even more impressed. Great craft ... great vibe ...
A compliment to the forge ... Because I will try to forge corkscrews.
To do absolutely. Super interesting for kids and parents.
To redo in 2 years. Without faults.I really recommend
