Human and technical experience.

Human and technical experience.
You really have to be a little crazy to complete this project.
But in Guedelon this part of madness is perhaps genius.
Well done for everything

To see in his life because this site is very curious by all his trades in the old and the construction of the castle and it takes the day to enjoy it.
But do not forget that we are still able to build a castle in the 2000s !!!!
I say congratulations for the workers and volunteers.

It's already been the 2nd time that I've been to this castle, and it's not over yet. Seeing the evolution of this is a very beautiful experience, the craftsmen on site share their experience, their profession and their passion with us.
Very pleasant experience for my young and old alike grands

Superb work done! We could visit the finished part of the castle, the workers are available and talk about their work with a lot of fun, the medieval atmosphere is really recreated, especially since the castle is located in the white zone so no laptop! It's really exotic! And both children and adults can participate in workshops.

This is a must experience place for anyone who love medieval fantasies, history or the origins of Europe. It's the largest archeological experiment in the world. How to build a castle from scratch using the original techniques of 800 years ago. Truly worth it!

It is a place not to be missed when you visit the Yonne. So many craftsmen of the past full of enthusiasm and know-how, with so much dedication and ready to give us the most accurate explanations. What a magnificent construction this castle and its outbuildings are. well done

For lovers of castles, an exceptional example of building ex nihilo as at the time and rediscovering all the methods of the middle ages.

Always so interesting but disappointment for some workshops. The uncommunicative tile makers, talking about their schedule for the next day in front of ten visitors waiting for something other than a union meeting and a not very talkative and borderline friendly paint maker ...
Bravo on the other hand for the commentator of the mill, for the manufacturer of shingles and the tailpiece. All three fun and interesting. The stonemasons, carpenters and woodturners did their educational work well.
It is the same of this experience and some seem to forget it. That's why we were a little disappointed ...

Really spent a great day ... 2 hours of guided tour, to fully understand what they do ..., and then free walk around the different stalls of the different trades necessary for the construction (dyeing, carpenter, basket maker, tailors stone ...) to refine the explanations of the construction.
Catering service more than good, and varied ...

Very nice visit around a beautiful project, initially associative, unfortunately alas commercial. Team on site very welcoming and caring. Picnic areas should be developed, with the majority of visitors coming for the day.

This site is particularly exceptional. For 21 years, employed craftsmen have participated in the construction of this unique fortified castle in France and in the world. If you have never visited it go there it is worth the detour. You will spend a few hours there you will not regret it. Good visit.

A truly remarkable site combining history and discovery through various workshops explaining how formerly it was done to make tiles, build a framework, cut stones, make baskets, hiding pigments etc ... It's like back in 1250! You have the possibility to eat a menu of time on the spot, to participate in the workshops, to ask precise questions to the craftsmen ... I strongly advise you the guided visit which brings a little more on the site and which reframes a little when you do not know where to turn so there are things to see! Thank you Sylvie :)

Fantastic!!! For those who are fond of the Middle Ages like me it is an unmissable destination. In addition to the castle that they are building scrupulously following techniques and materials of the time, there is a sort of village around where about fifty figures "produce" everything necessary for the construction. One of the most beautiful things I have seen in France.

Great job done but disappointed because we saw that the realization of the ropes. No other workshop was functioning. We came 10 years ago and the site was much more alive. There just posters explaining the work of each. We would have liked to show our grandchildren the work of each trade.

A dive into the heart of the 13th century ...
The artisans are very open to answering questions ... they know their job at their fingertips and are therefore very interesting.
Attention, if you have opted for the visit with audio guide ... remember to download the files of the visit BEFORE you go there, because it is in a white area and there is no Wifi either. .. it is the 13th century down to the details!
