The site itself is great. But the big black spot is the restoration: 1h15 of tail (with small children!) - nevertheless towards the end of the service, towards 1:45 pm - to be able to eat !! And for good reason: there was only one restoration site (the other was closed ... for bad weather! While it was nice even if not hot, November 1 oblige), equipped site which more is only 2 crates. Thousands of visitors ... and 2 crates ... it sure can not go fast !! One of the waiters used humor to put the pill in line but I found it rather indecent: when you charge so much for the entrance and prides you on being a unique site in Europe we should rather offer the services that go with it and not wait so long for visitors who are captive in a remote location!
Conclusion: very nice experience ... but provide you with a picnic!
Since 2003 I go there every two years and I never tire of it. It is the first visit I suggest when family or friends come home. On-site catering not to be missed despite a good queue Teleport to another world
Very beautiful site for the construction of the castle and the workers are very nice and explain their jobs to us where everything is shaped by hand.
A magnificent adventure in the moon of the Consuel of the Middle Ages
I have been going there regularly for over 20 years and it is a pleasure to see this castle being built in the old fashioned way. It is very instructive to see the trades at work and who interact with visitors.
A visit I wanted to do for many years. Very interesting just a little flat ... all schoolchildren on a school trip so a lot of excitement and no guided tour for us, it's a shame.
Very good day. Contact persons available precise explanations to repeat to see the progress
Very nice site, the people working there always very available and ready to answer all the curious
To have a good day a lot to see and possible participation.
I recommend
place to see but there is huge progress to be made for the catering because the food is really not great and the tables are not sheltered enough from the wind when it is not hot
A great architectural adventure, congratulations to the workers. Seen already 3 times.
Brilliant a great visit going again so much to see and learn
An extraordinary journey through time made possible by enthusiasts of the Middle Ages. Thank you to them for sharing this adventure with the public with kindness and simplicity!
Like what the manual is more impressive and solid than all our constructions today. Thank you for transporting us to the time of our elders.
A number to the craftsmen's cabins would help to position this on the map
A must see. If you want to end up in the middle ages a day.
The project is dreamy.
Very interesting and fun visit. The guided tour is fascinating and the educational workshops appeal to adults and children alike. It is a visit that can be repeated every two years without problem since the explanations and activities vary depending on the progress of the site.
Construction site of a medieval castle using period techniques. It is very impressive. Craftsmen are available to explain their techniques. The whole is very good. But the place is a victim of its success: too many people, it becomes a tourist factory, the lack of courtesy, we push, the children scream ... Like a shopping center on Saturday afternoon.
Excellent !!! Perfect return to the Middle Ages!
Great activities to understand the ways of the time !!
To visit absolutely !!!
Very interesting, the pedagogical side is undeniable, many visitors and parking too small. Be prepared to park on the side of the road if you arrive after 11am.
Mediaval castle under construction, surrounded by period crafts, with people from the Middle Ages who explain. Unmissable place and to review
Superb experience! I discovered this fantastic place with workers listening to our questions. The guided tour is a plus to understand the construction!
The place is super interesting the animators very available who answer all questions. The only downside is the snack bar and the restaurant which are excessively expensive for an average quality, moreover the hygiene is more than limited because the window is filled with wasps which in addition invade us when we have lunch ... So apart from her I had a great day
Anyone who can warm up to medieval handicrafts is in the right place!
A great idea for young and old who like to go back in time
A little disappointed with the visit to Guedelon last Saturday. The castle is great, it's really exotic. We really feel like there. All the people who work there are in period costume. The guides very friendly and passionate. Special mention Talmelier super nice, exciting, we feel that he loves his job.
Where I am disappointed is for the restoration. It's very expensive. There is a restaurant that makes sandwiches and another one hot dishes. There is not much choice. The sandwiches are not great, just the bread is excellent but the interior is not great. Then we wanted to buy bread, there was no more in the restaurant, we are told to go to the shop. But here too there was more.
The restoration part should be improved because it is limited.
Construction of a castle as at the time. On-site catering. Accessible to everyone.
Wonderful place. A castle under construction with methods of the time. The artisans work in front of you and answer your questions. Pleasant visit with young children.
I loved !!
Very enriching and informative output.
Large car and coach parking. Outdoor or covered picnic area. Interesting craft workshops.
Very rewarding guided tour. We learn about the techniques of building fortified castles. Craftsmen are available to answer questions about their trade.
An extraordinary site where we discover the incredible work of these builders of the old. There is real research on every stage of construction. We discover all the trades involved: from the blacksmith to the basket maker. The craftsmen are affordable and answer with pleasure the questions of the neophytes that we are. We find his child's soul in this castle. We become prince or princess of the place.
It is a pity that we have not seen any workers at work, a deserted shipyard, a newly created mill that does not run caused current drought (this could be said from the start) in short very disappointed
A nice place to visit with family.
Young and old will learn things and see the evolution of the site plunging us into a building with the means of the 1200s.
On-site catering, picnic areas, guided tours and stone-cutting workshop to be booked upon arrival.
Interesting site to discover with his little children who are thoroughly in the medieval era, knight ....
Thank you for this beautiful book.
In 20 years it will be our children's turn to discover the end of the construction site
The facility is in good condition and the staff friendly. However, apart from some craftsmen, most of them have little or no knowledge of foreign languages. The brochure that you receive upon entry is available in at least German, English, Dutch and French. Most of the information boards are in French, and only about a third is also in English.
The facility is very interesting and definitely worth a visit.
To spend a great day with the family. the guide explained us very well the castle is beautiful. on the other hand the meal leaves to desired.
I recommend the guided tour. Very rewarding places.
Unique place and filled with emotions .... to do imperatively. Adults and children marvel at this fabulous construction.
Superb achievement that immerses us in the story.
Very nice site and the home is very warm.
To visit and revisit to follow the evolution of the castle.
Nice visit, very welcome and guide to the height to redo to see the work done
Fantastic for the kids. Make sure you "reserve" on time for activities such as roof tile making and basket weaving.
Castle of the 13th century, it is an experimental archaeological site, built with the techniques of the time. It is a unique place to visit with the family and to renew the surroundings every 5/10 years to see the development of the village and the castle.
Superb place where we see the evolution of their work by passionate people and companions of duty. We took a guide (frankly do not deprive it is not a big difference on the price of the entry) explanations are rewarding and interesting. The people are welcoming and warm I highly recommend. It was a real pleasure for this weekend of 4 days to August 15.
Great historic building project that caters for all languages
Super castle under construction with medieval materials
Superb place and congratulations for all this reconstruction to the old
Very nice site to see. Only problem no network around to contact the children.
An amazing site, an extraordinary human adventure, extraordinary know-how and technology: a journey through time and a total change of scenery !!! Must see
Playful
Very complete and precisely a little tiring given the extent of the domain to be visited, especially on a very hot day.
Small nice show, competent guide, very complete explanations of the craftsmen.
One last tip, bring good but old shoes
Great ! we learn a multitude of things about the Middle Ages with this castle dating from about twenty years. In the twenty-first century we haven't invented anything essential since. We have especially forgotten the ancestral know-how !! ?? Thank you to all the stakeholders of the castle for their welcome, we had a very good day.
Very nice project. We are immersed at the time of 1200 AD in the construction of a castle.
for the first time, I visited this site. Very informative. It's worth spending at least a day there.
Absolutely wonderful tour. The castle is well advanced but there is still work and it is an opportunity for exciting demonstrations with all trades. A beautiful immersion and exciting meetings. Very interesting introductory workshop in stone, for everyone, and everyone leaves with his work, rather nice, made in 1 hour. Too bad the drought does not allow to see the mill in operation.
Wonderful experience. We spent three quarters of a day on it. Those who love crafts are recommended.
