Very nice ambience and area. Beautiful to see the mountains and scenery everywhere. A bit difficult to get an easy meal anywhere. All restaurants seem to require reservations far in advance. Food was decent quality and the buffets were very good.

Bear with me on this, as I feel it's a genuine, but thorough breakdown:

1. First off, the staff is fantastic--they are really terrific.
2. This is a historic and beautiful resort, nestled above gorgeous Asheville, but unfortunately it doesn't quite deliver for its price point. The premises is vastly sprawling, such that you either need to get a shuttle or prepare for a long hike just to move around to main features, such as the main pool.
3. The signage within the hotel's room wings is exceedingly poor, so you will need to carry a map with you or ask staff for directions--DO NOT assume you can just find a place like you might in other resorts.
4. If you want to visit their delightful spa, book a slot WELL BEFORE you actually arrive. If you get here and try to book a slot, be prepared for disappointment as it is often booked days in advance.
5. The golf course is very nice, but quite overpriced. You can find better prices options nearby at a very short drive.
6. The food and beverages are good, but probably about 15% overpriced compared to similar resorts, and as with the spa, I cannot stress just how important it is to make restaurant reservations well in advance. Room service is generally a ~45 minute wait.
7. Most of the rooms seem historic, so they have a rustic look and are quite dark. They are clean, but be aware that this place thrives on its historical ambiance, so expect just enough modernity to be comfortable without necessarily being as convenient as other high-end resorts.

Overall, it is truly a pretty place staffed with wonderful workers, but I feel there are simply too many guests--they put too great a strain on the site's amenities to accommodate everyone. There is also some definite room for improvement in on-site signage/maps to help you navigate through the labyrinth of halls, paths, elevators, and shuttles to traverse the premises.
If you are the type to plan ahead and schedule your entire trip, you will likely fall in love with this place. If, however, you prefer booking your room and enjoying your vacation on the fly, then quite frankly, you would do well to book your stay elsewhere.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Grove Park Inn and we couldn't have been more pleased. Every staff member, from the guys who parked our car to the restaurant staff to the Spa staff, was so friendly and attentive. You have created a grand memory for us and we are very appreciative! And, we will be back!

Attended Elaine's Dueling Piano Bar, like many other reviews I've seen, they amp the music SUPER LOUD. My partner and I both say at the farthest back table away from pianos, and still had to lean in to hear one another. Both the pianists are obviously talented and good at improv, but don't get there too early because it's painful to see them shout-singing to a group of like 6 attendees.

Omni has sure ruined this hotel. Once a treasure of the NC Mountains, it now is likely the last place I will ever stay. Restaurant was dirty and the wait staff in the restaurant did nothing to clean the Tables. Said they could not seat us for about an hour and when we did sit down, there were 30 dirty and empty tables with staff standing around. A dirty table needs cleaning and this place had the nerve to over price everything they offered.

Pretty pricey, but it s a really unique experience to stay at the Grove Park Inn. The rooms are exceptionally quiet and clean, the staff were very capable and friendly, the biscuits on the terrace are delicious, and the pools in the spa are very relaxing. Be sure to bring a book if you plan to read in the spa since electronics are completely prohibited.

We have been staying at the grove park for years. Sadly, since Omni has taken over it continues to decline. This year was the final straw. The rooms are very dated and not in a classy historic way but more of an update seriously overdue way. The way we were treated by management was appalling. We transferred to the Grand Bohemian and we were very happy we did.

Love this place. Elegant Hotel and you will never forget the dining experience! Incredible, incredible, incredible. Historic, Step back in time ,but enjoy the modern day features of life today. Power went out during a storm years ago and i was on a CPAP machine. They pulled a cord ,big around as a quarter down the hall 100 feet to our room, 4 guys, to give me power for less than 2 hours. Good folks, really good folks.

On Thanksgiving stay this year, the resort was hopping! One of the liveliest grand lobbies ever. Lots of kids and families, even well trained dogs. Our spa experience was great though extremely pricey, as is the rest of the resort. Our room in the old portion of the Inn could have been a little nicer for the price and still retain that 1913 atmosphere. They should work on that ... time for an upgrade there. We were not happy with our dining at Vue 1913, not that it was terrible but it wasn t outstanding by any means. Overall though, it was a nice stay. Service is top notch!!!

Got there and had to park in the lot across from the inn, and pay 15 bucks to do so. Went to eat at a restaurant there and was told they couldn't get us in until 9:30. Complained at consierge desk and they were able to get us in after all, with an hour wait. Food was poor quality and over priced. To use the hot tub would have been 85 dollars per person. We will be going back to Chetola!!! They have everything we are looking for included in their pricing!

My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at the Omni Grove Park Inn. It is an absolutely stunning place and the service was top notch. We initially had a room in a historic part of the main building but found it to be too vintage for our taste so requested a newly built section of the resort (Sammons) which we loved. The mountain view and sunsets were amazing, restaurants were all great, and the spa and the service were all excellent! Highly recommended!

We had a chance to visit the Omni Grove Park Inn and dine on their Sunset Terrace. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner and were served by Michael (an awesome waiter). This was my first time coming back to the Sunset Terrace as an adult, only have visited before as an impressionable middle-schooler many years ago. I plan to come back for other special events!

My husband and I came here for our anniversary and I can say with out a doubt the most romantic beautiful place I have ever been. The restaurant overlooks rolling hills and the beautiful stone work by the waterfalls. This place is absolutely magical. We had reservations for the dinner buffet which is 55$ per person and its definitely worth it. We Will definitely be coming back.

Wonderful food, great staff! Only complaint is that people don't know their own eating limits and promptly run to the bathroom to vomit after gorging themselves on the buffet. So that makes the bathroom less than ideal, but nothing the staff can do about that.

We stayed on the private floor which included drinks, snacks and adults only. The scenic views were great and all staff were very nice and attentive. There were several on-site restaurants and the Spa was great. Would definitely come again and recommend to others.

This is a AAA four (4) Diamond resort, and the history of this resort is amazing having been built back in 1913. The massive stone fireplaces in the Great Hall were incredible, and the food throughout the hotel was Great, especially Vue 1913

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Every detail really takes your breath away. I've been there several times, usually for drinks on the open porch. I will say that the alchololic hot chocolate is a bit overpriced but they are definitely tasty! The staff is also very helpful and knowledgeable about this history of the hotel and the area.

It was an amazing experience, and since my wife and I were on our honeymoon they gave us free breakfast which was top notch. The staff were very kind, and very hospitable. Best hotel I've ever had the pleasure of staying at.

Not our first visit, but our first stay at the Grove Park Inn. The staff was incredible, the rooms were impeccably clean, the brief mention of it being our anniversary resulted in wine and chocolate delivered to our room, and the grounds are just breathtaking. We will absolutely be back, and we will absolutely enjoy the spa again!

Great food and service in a beautiful location. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu as well as the building itself. The largest private home ever built in America is set against the beautiful backdrop of the Western North Carolina mountains. Valet service is available as is free parking for up to 3 hours. There are trails on the property as well as countless trails less than 30 minutes away.

We did not stay at the hotel but spent the afternoon at the terrace restaurant for the sunset. Food is a bit pricey but we expected that. The view is very nice. We could not get a server to wait on us to get a drink while waiting on the lower terrace for our dinner table.
Exploring the grounds and hotel area make for a nice date night or afternoon. We even got to watch a wedding!

The Grove Park Inn is a beautiful, historic and friendly place to stay. All the staff was friendly. Our room in the older part of the inn was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. Just an overnight stay but enjoyed it very much.

My name is Tom Ainsworth, the reservations were made under my name and not Thomas Downer; he is the head of the law firm I work for but he is not the one making the survey or who stayed at the Grove Park

Lovely resort and highly recommend a stay. Prices are extremely high for the restaurants especially $26.00 for breakfast buffet with no other option for a hot breakfast. Historic rooms are dark and rather gloomy. Lack of bathroom lighting and very small old windows. Not enough storage for toiletries in the bathroom or grab bar to get out of shower. I prefer the newer rooms for long stays. The Sammons Wing has seating along the corridor that looks out over the views but when you sit down, you are too low and cannot see. In need of bar height to accommodate the views. Overall I have stayed here about 10 times over the years and still keep coming back. Always in need to improvement though.

The Omni Grove Park Inn is absolutely beautiful! The historic building itself is grand and full of rich history. The views from the hotel are breathtaking. The spa on the premises is top notch and still one of my favorite getaways.

Omni bought Grove park Inn and changed a few things. It went from being a quiet place to loud music till late at night and all kinds of noises early in the morning. There were plaques on the doors of the rooms showing what famous people stayed in those rooms. For some strange reason they removed them. Why did they remove them? The history of the place is one of the things that make people pay $500 a night for a room equal to a Comfort Inn or $30 for a $10 lunch. Removing the plaques removed some of the charm. The music went way past 10pm.

Everything was beautiful until it came to the service from the waitress while waiting for the table we selected to sit at which was cluttered by the previous patrons. Both tables that were available had dirty dishes on them. That's not the point here though . While we selected a table well before anyone else, it so happened that a couple after us sellectedthe other table and had theirs cleaned first and order taken. Not good. I'm not one to play the race card being a biracial child but this was a blatant act of, well you know. Alyssa. May God be with you.

Sometimes when you go on vacation, you end up needing a vacation from your vacation. This was one of the first 4+ day getaways that we truly can back relaxed. This place, the view, the people and the grounds does everything to center you.

Locals probably still think it s over the top and to commercialized, but for anyone who is looking for a quiet place to hear themselves again. You will find that here.

Great hotel I have always loved going here since I moved to Asheville in a 1996. We ate at the Blue Ridge room which is better than it used to be but really needs to be updated. It is so dark in there.

Lovely space. Food was good but not spectacular. Same for cocktails etc. Price includes space, and is not indicative of the tier of cuisine per se. No complaints though. Totally satisfied, just not blown away. Great night.

We've made it a family tradition to go there for my wife's birthday every Christmas. My favorite restaurant is the restaurant that overlooks Asheville from the top Grove Park. The buffet is to die for! When we renovated our house we built the biggest fireplace we could in honor of the Great Hall in Grove Park
