It was a perfect day we went on a Sunday and it wasn't to crowded. What I like the most is you are able to bring your lunch and water inside the park!

Awesome zoo....better get comfy shoes you will be walking a lot.
A great place to spend time with children, learn more about the nature around us and spend time in the shade among, being in the center of the metropolis.
The zoo contains all the interesting animals: lions, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, snakes, etc.
There are a lot of cafes and restaurants on the territory, so that you can have a bite to eat from watching animals.
Parking at the zoo is free.
Attended the LA Zoo lights. It was wonderful. Staff was courteous and the lights were whimsical. Our kids were delighted by all the lights and especially the light show.
(This review is for the LA lights only)
Great zoo!
Loved the African animals especially the primates!
I really like this zoo I would totally go again if you go when it's hot outside don't forget to take a spray bottle with water and wear a hat or take an umbrella I do recommend hopping on the shuttle so you can get around the park faster lots of different animals to see if you like the Living Desert in Palm Desert you will love the LA Zoo.
One of the BEST family spots in LA. We have an annual membership.
Zoos are awful. I saw several upset and depressed animals. One just kept pacing. The enclosures are very small. Idk how the elephants don't commit suicide. For reals. Bathrooms were clean though.
Lots of fun! Even with the pandemic and sad we couldn t see the reptiles and do the Australian walk through but overall still had a great time and the CHURROS WERE GREAT !
Loved this place!!!! Been here twice and loved it both times! My kids had a blast here! Best day ever! All the animals are there, the place is clean, good price for all day fun! They even have a little play park tour kids can play on while you take a break. You can feed the giraffes, climb on a big tree, and get amazing photos! This trip was for my 1year old birthday! And it really made it special!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!
Very few water fountains, very long lines at shops just to buy water. The bathroom was messy/dirty.
Animal experiences were great.
As of June 8th 2020, the zoo is still temporarily closed, not open.
Todo bien lastima que no estaban todas los animales
Went to see the christmas lights, it's ok but would have been so much better if they had limited the amount of people allowed in at a time. It was so crowded that I felt like I was waiting in line at Disney World in the summer.
They've definitely stepped up and made it a much nicer experience then my last visit many years ago.
My kids love this zoo - it's really fantastic - very large and a membership is totally worthwhile with little kids. really great option for educational family fun. the monkeys here are next level - very active. Giraffe feeding is great - flamingo's, reptiles, aquarium area - elephants - all really top notch!
Love this place ! Awesome designed and well organized . All animals here in a good healthy life and in good hands. Great place to be with family !
Me & my husband we a few days ago it was great we had so much fun truly a must go to place in LA(:
My children and I always find something new everytime we visit the zoo. Animals behave differently during their feeding time, nap time, different weather or time of the day we visit. We have learned a lot visiting here!
Great place to just hang out with the kids. Lots of shade
Family friendly and staff is always kind and informative. Very affordable yearly membership makes this an ideal weekly destination.
Its a huge and very nice zoo.ive been to many zoos and this one by far is 2nd in line to the san diego zoo. The vibe the animals , everything and everyone is happy.
A lot of the displays are closed and most concession too. But it was a welcome respite from staying home. Seeing the elephants made it worth the while.
Good place to go with the family but I don't like the fact that the animals are all asleep could be because of the summer heat. Food pricey but at least decent tasting. The map layout sorta confusing but over all good experience.
Loved it!
Nice selecrions of animals!
Many places to eat!
You can pay for a drived ride of the Zoo.
Buy something to remember youof this visit.
Lots of families with they kids...this mean you have also kids play grounds!
Little to no animals. Horrible and boring experience with family.
Good
..natural habitat....for all those animal species under threat.
Always a nice time for the kids. If you're going to go more than once in a year, you should look into a membership.
Great place for kids. Highly educational. Been a fan for decades.
The LA Zoo is always great. Parking everywhere in the parking lot is not free anymore though.
For sure one of the best zoos in Southern California because they have awesome architecture and wonderful exhibits! And wonderful creatures such as the monkey the app and the phenomenal ferocious lion and a tiger! Quite extraordinary indeed I would recommend it to anyone who is trying to have a wonderful fun time with their kids or their family this is the place to be very family friendly and would recommend to all families! They also had delightful treats such as kettle popcorn which was all natural aswell ! Also cannot go wrong because they sell beer here and they sell craft beer such as Golden Road IPA and the phenomenal mango cart from Golden Road which coincidentally is also from Los Angeles, this is quite a phenomenal city indeed with a vibrancy of eternity! I would definitely come back add time and time again to fully absorb and fully enjoy every single creature in their wonderful habitat , 5 out of 5 alohas!
best place if you have kids or just want to go for a walk on a weekday afternoon. I don't recommend on the weekend. the weekends are always crowded. if you are a local and want to visit often get the membership for the whole year. you can bring outside snacks or even your own lunch. the zoo does sell beer.
Great Zoo!!! Beautiful gardens & landscapes...great staff (helpful & courteous) restrooms were very clean
Very happy day!
Great place for the children and family time, my kida lovwd the carrousel insidethe Zoo
The Zoo is awesome! A Great place for the entire family. Free or paid parking (the difference is the walking distance to front gate). Handicap parking and wheelchair Access to all parts of the Zoo. If you have the pass you bypass the line which could be long. There is rental strollers available or you can bring your own you can bring small wagons too which is awesome to pull the kids and/or your snacks. There is a large picnic/playground where you can enjoy a snack and watch the kids play. The petting zoo area is great fun for all. If you rather not pack your lunch they have snack venders throughout and a restaurant (burgers & fries ect). The Zoo offers so much extra (I recommend the website) even bundles with the aquarium of the Pacific and others. Bring your walking shoes it's a big place.
Excellent display of animals and very clean, however, the layout of the Zoo is awful. Expect to go around in circles to look for various animals and bring your walking shoes. There were some animals I really wanted to see but unable because they couldn t be found in the terrible layout. Sad to say I wouldn t go back nor would I suggest people to go there. The San Diego Zoo has a much better layout and map system.
We saw everything and had a great time! It was nice to be able to bring your own food and drinks. Lovely staff
Had a good time there. You will need around 3 hours.
Excellent place to get knowledge about the animals. If you like taking pictures you will need the full day otherwise you can run through the whole zoo in about 3 hours.
The one exhibit I enjoyed the most was the twinkle tunnel. The price for admission was reasonable and didn't have to pay for parking. I highly recommend.
My family was not very happy when we had to do a lot of walking, because we would have to pay more to get on the trolley. Also not all the animals were out, plus we had to pay $5 dollars to feed a giraffe
Love the place and the service. Also go check the gift shop
I love the LA zoo. Great place to go for the day. Try to avoid going on hot days as the sun beats down pretty hard. Over fun with the family. Try the candied almonds!! There great!
Parking is a nightmare and the tram does not run often enough. Stand out in the heat forever waiting.
As an LA native, I've been coming here since I was a baby. My family and I always have a good time here, and the Zoo has made many upgrades and improvements over the years, for the animals as well as us humans. There is a wide variety of animals and plenty of shady areas to beat the heat. The new reptile exhibit they have is AMAZING, fun, and interactive for the kids. The chimpanzee exhibit is entertaining and educational, as well as the sea life exhibit in the front. It's affordable too, and they won't give you a hard time if you bring your own water/food.
BUT...every time I've been recently, there is an elephant standing in the enclosure swaying back and forth, alone. This is really disturbing and heartbreaking to witness, as I am sure it is for all animal lovers. Even if one animal group does not seem to have excellent quality of life, it's going to get a low rating from me, despite my largely positive experiences here.
Went to LA ZOO LIGHTS, the only "cool" thing we saw was the tunnel of lights.
There was a sign that the show was cancelled due to winds, but there were no winds!
What a amazing place. So much stuff to do and see. Located in one of the best parks in the city. You can spend hours walking around and only see half of it. You can even walk to it, if your mind desires it. Great exhibits that the animals are part of, looks very natural and away from people. One thing to be aware of is that, the Los Angeles Zoo doesn't honor EBT card holders a free entry into the Zoo.
Great, family & friend time place, very interactive, free parking if you choose, free samples from food vendors & literally Lions, Tigers & Bears oh my!!!
Even though the lines were long it was still very fun my fiance and I had a wonderful time
Great but a ton of displays were empty for whatever reason. Understandable but disappointing.
Parking is always easy, food and drinks are available for decent prices, park attendants are always in a good, helpful, and informative mood.
Zoo lights was nice. Scored some tickets foraboit $12. Kids had fun. Got to see the amphibians which we usually ignore because of the big animals. Lights were beautiful. Many places to take beautiful pictures. You will not get to see lots of animals as they are sleeping and areas of the zoo are blocker but it's something different to enjoy at a reasonable price. We did see reindeers. Little one enjoyed the twinkle tunnel the most.
Great fun for the little ones. Be prepared to do a lot of walking, some hills. It is also not as shady as some of the other Zoos I've been to so we avoid it doing the midday. The food is okay but the churros are a must try, fresh and delicious. Bring your own stroller and get there early if you go on the weekend to find a good spot that isn't preferred upcharge.
Alot of animals were not on display. Also the lines to get tickets are so long. But it was alright
The Lions and Tigers looked very small, you can see their ribs, alot of the animals wasn't viewable, the animals that where near a water area had no water.
Looked a lot bigger when I was a child. My daughter enjoyed it!
Nice place to spend day with my kids, if your kids are too young to walk I suggest you bring a stroller. I forgot mine and the rentals are old and dingy. Be ready to spend a few bucks, prices are a little high and bathrooms could be cleaner
It is small compared to others. But it has a good distribution making its journey easy, friendly and fun
Very nice zoo! the kids love it also the pricing is affordable.
