Save your money! We spent the get in $74 just for 2 kids and my husband, place was dirty! Restroom disgusting! Papers and trash everywhere! You have to walk a lot to get to one place and the other which makes it seem HUGE but they don t have many animals! Too much people for NOTHING... never going back! Visiting from Texas and for nothing!

If you love animals this the place for you!

If you love animals this the place for you!
But you will have to walk quite a lot to see every animal.
There is a restaurant, vending machines, and bathrooms so you can take your time .
All together it's a nice time.

Lots of walking so bring comfortable shoes. Can be very crowded depending the day and time you visit. The only thing that disappointed me was how old most of the animals we saw looked. Not that they're not enjoyable but looked tired....

The animals are adorable, but it's a small zoo for such a crowded metropolitan area. There's very little standing space, and even less seating at each exhibit, which only seems that much smaller with a decent sized crowd walking around to see each if the animals. My friend and I visited on a not-too-busy day, and it still felt far too crowded. There's no place to go inside to escape from the blazing southern California sun, and not nearly enough places to cool off (like the misters they have spread around in very few locations).

Every zoo I've been to has been better than this zoo! The price of this zoo doesn't match the experience $20 and military gets $3 off? San Diego military gets in free and most other zoos in the country. Most exhibits were small, the animals looked under fed, indoor exhibits weren't air conditioned and super humid.... Terrible zoo id give it half a star if I could.

Had never been there. Kinda disappointed with the habitats for animals. The information posted on each animal tells about the habitat they live in. What they had for most animals was nothing like described. However reptiles were awesome. Fun trying to find all the frogs, lizards etc. in their natural habitat. Zoo is also very clean.

When I went there the animals were all asleep (even if they weren t nocturnal), I was there for a while and never saw some of them up and about. The enclosures were over grown and dirty, and a lot of them had rats/mice in them. I hardly ever saw staff, honestly it was so understaffed most of the kiosks and snack areas were closed. It was almost like the whole zoo was run by five people. Overall, I think this zoo definitely needs to be checked for neglect.

Always a great day at zoo! Even better now with reservation only. Perfect amount of people, plenty of room. Feel safe. Some things closed, i.e. shows of course. But during these times, expected. Grandbaby had a ball. As we were leaving she said, "Best day ever!". Whatelse needs to be said. :)

Overpriced beer, and animal exhibits seem a little small and sad as they are only here for our entertainment in contrast to the efforts of San Diego Zoo's Safari Park. However, this is a wonderful place to see and learn about our planets beautiful wildlife. I only wish they kept the facilities maintained and up to date.

Solid city zoo. Clean and diverse. Best in the early mornings or days that aren't too hot that the animals hide away from the sun. It's a workout getting around so be prepared (there is a shuttle for extra $). Good food options (not cheap, but there's alcohol!) and recently renovated, shaded jungle gym for the littles and parents to rest. Fake Cookie Monster loitering outside offering hugs is creepy to me but I don't know his story. LA Zoo Lights is a fun winter nighttime experience! Toddler-approved (and apparently great date-night experience).

The zoo is just the right size for little ones. My kids are able to see all the animals in a day. We usually take our own lunch and sit in the playground area. It's busy during the school year due to field trips and the light show during Christmas season is super crowded.

Amazing. First time I been to a proper zoo. I was blown away. We got there later in the day on a Friday which was a good thing. We missed all the school trips/kids and it wasn't very busy. The only thing is you miss all the shows, but I was fine with that.

Great place for kids. Entrance is inexpensive. Everything else, like food and souvenirs are priced as expected. Friendly, knowledgeable staff . It's in a beautiful area and animals look to be kindly tended too.
