We had a great time at the zoo during my recent friend trip to LA. Most animals were out & active, which was wonderful to see. All of the enclosures seemed adequate for each animal (I always notice this because I get upset when animals are put in pens much too small for them). A few animals were even super friendly and would come up straight to the glass to say hi. I m so glad we went and would definitely go back if in the area again.
Sad place, the animals look malnourished, sick ... besides the facilities are not very hygienic ...
More animals now.. kids love it & now they have a kids play area & the carousel is a big hit with kids.
Parking was easy, getting in was easy (Groupon deal/cheap), the layout of the park is great. My boys had a blast. Food not so great, I would pack a lunch next time.
First time here. There's so many animals to see and they are actually out and not sleeping. You get up close encounters with them. They have food places inside as well as treats for the kiddos. They also have stands with hats, bubble blowing toys, and a gift marketplace. Not to mention the weather was perfect.
It be a 5 if zoo lights were more festive then so discoteck
It needs more animals and some care. It looks like a good idea but requires better execution. It needs some sponsors to improve the attractions
Don't go when it's extremely hot outside and you'll have a much better time.
Great for younger children but not great for older kids.
Great location for a zoo though.
Great Place To Go And Take The Kids!!!
Since I Was A Kid I Love Coming Here...
They Need More Animals And More Activities For The Kids.
I was so excited to go to the zoo with my mom. I thought it would be a fun-filled day so I even cleared my schedule to spend time with her at the zoo, but I got discriminated against. I never thought this would happen to me and it did and at possibly one of my favorite places to go as a child. I will never be attending the Los Angeles Zoo ever again because of this occurrence with one worker. Personally, I do not want to give out names or descriptions of this person because I do not know what negativity may be going on through his life for him to be so hateful and mean. I never write reviews for anything and this is my very first tome. This situation I find myself in, made me have to write a review because it is 100% not fair.
Wide variety of animals and rare kinds as well! So much to explore here, better if you can go on a weekday if you want to avoid crowds.
Ratio walking to visible animals way to high. Not sure the attention and health of the animals is good.
I liked it because there were real animals i thought ther were puppets the most of all i liked the monkeys, tigers, and lions there amazing.
I've been visiting the zoo since I was a kid and it's amazing all the changes it's been through. Many of the exhibits have been improved and the grounds are just gorgeous. As a member, I love visiting just to take a leisure stroll. Now with the various fundraisers and the Roaring Nights, the zoo is even more fun!
Well kept zoo with very pretty grounds. Nice place for a good walk. All the animals appeared to be well taken care of with appropriate enclosures and number of animals in the enclosures for socialization. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, but the gift shop for such a large zoo was lacking heavily.
Great day. Animals were very active. Apes, bird show was great, snow leopard, otters, elephants, giraffes oh my.
Astonishing flamingos @ LA Zoo! and many other reps of fauna worth seeing.
They didn't have enough animals, alone of the attractions were closed and the food is overprised
Loved seeing all the animals. You can learn so much it's amazing. Loved being there with friends and learning with them! There are some animals that you may never see but if you go to the zoo you can see them. Just one thing I wish is that if they are going to be closed in a space it should be more "homey". So it's like they are living in their habitat. The zoo does a pretty good job of doing that but maybe a little more should be put into that.
Huge and the animals are really far a part...very expensive to...
This is one of the nicest Zoos I have been to. They are clearly in the business to help the conservation of our natural resources and endangered animals. If you are thinking about visiting here, consider purchasing a membership. The money will be well spent and you can be guaranteed that the money goes to the actual conservation of species, habitats and environments around the world.
You can do your part by recycling your plastics, using reusable plastic bags and water bottles. If you see trash on the ground that can be recycled nearby, do your part to save the environment, don't wait for someone else to do it. Make America Great Again!
Had a good time my first visit my 17month loved her expression on her face was priceless
I feel there aren t many animals or staff to even talk you about the few animals that are there. Over priced , and the experience does not make me want to come back.
This is the best place to go with ur kids and teach them what animals there are
I always love coming to the zoo whether I have small children with me or not. Lol this visit was at night for the zoo lights and all the animals were asleep except for the reindeer. There were 3 of them. They even showed everyone the antlers from the baby reindeer that shed them. It felt like very hard bone. It was pretty neat.
Great place for a family outing! The LA Zoo the only place I can find Bavarian cream churros.
Animals were skinny and aslept. They didnt have much space wondering around. Actually very disappointed
LA Zoo at night, lights displays great! Poorly organized ticket sale and access to the zoo.
We became members for the LA Zoo, we love this place, my son loves to run around and gets to know all of his favorite animals. They have a carousel, cute little foodcourts, my son is a fan of churros and icee. There are may events held at the zoo. We get heads up before events to plan ahead with their newsletters. Great investment, making memories.
Went to see the LA ZOO lights. It was fun, kids liked it. Something to see at least once. But not enough to make me go again. No animals to see, and except looking at lights not much else to do. But it was pretty.
I love LA Zoo
I go for the Gorilla, chimps, reptiles and orangutans.
People are friendly and bathrooms tend to be clean.
And now they sell beer!
This is a great escape to take the children or to simply go for a nice walk. Well kept, nice helpful staff. Plenty to see and relax. I like the bleachers across from the Chimps...it is shaded and from time to time has student artists sketching what they see. The tram is inexpensive and recommend if it is your first trip here. There are many food options at several locations within this zoo. Wheelchair accessible throughout the park. The zoo is on hills, so be forewarned.
It's a nice zoo. A lot of animals to see. Habitats seem clean and animals seem to be well cared for. I came with the class I work in, and the students really enjoy themselves. I did, too!
I love going here in December. Not too hot, not too cold and It s lit up!
Animals were very lonely. 1-2 per cage and all were sleepy and lonely.
Enjoyed the LA zoo today. Sadly, A lot of the animals were off exhibit today.
I haven't been to the LA Zoo in several years. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much it has improved. The exhibits were modern and stylish.
Some stuff is to expensive the up keep dosent look well the plants and the strollers are nasty
Great place to walk around, I would recommend going in the morning. Animals and plants are great.
I was very desapointed, some animals are in a very small spaces, most of the little rivers or lakes were very durty,(green and smelly water). I understand that because the hot whether we couldn't see some animals and a few places or shows were close. They should tell us before to decide to enter or not.
It was a lot of fun . I liked how they enrich the animal's life.
Their was alot of room to move around and look at the animals!
Great place to spend sometime with your family and friends
Very quick when u do it on line. We loved our experience
Very nice, the only thing that makes me a little expensive
The zoo is very nicely done. Lots of shady areas, beautiful scenery, and of course- lots of animals. There is a trolly available, but we did the hike up and down.
Ok zoo. Protesters outside upset my small children. Was a very hot day and lots of animals nowhere to be found.
I always enjoy coming year bring in the kids my favorite exhibit is the gorillas and also the chimpanzees they do put on the show every few hours and you are pretty close up they are hilarious when they act up and start goofing around my zoo sometimes the elephants are really out so you gonna miss them but there are a lot of other animals to see one thing I do think is a need to change the lion exhibit just to put together well
It is super large and very beautiful. But you end up very tired
Had a very nice visit. Enjoyed our day.
Suggestion:
An interactive map, for tracking your location, as you walk about the zoo, would be a wonderful addition to your website.
And, very easy to do.
The felines were mostly sleeping...sadly.. Surprisingly there were decent food options at not outrageous prices. Strongly subsidized (around $15 million annually) by the la city, so it's fairly cheap for admissions.
Reptile segment was good. The tram was also good. Felt like animals are bit less and there was a stench at the flamingo area
I hadn't been since I was a kid and enjoyed the visit.
This place is so cool. I highly recommend coming the winter time light nights they have in the gardens. Its amazing. It looks like something out of this world and in the world of Pandora (from the movie avatar) when everything is glowing at night.
Went for the light show. Cool for the kids and very affordable. A must visit place.
The LA Zoo is a great place for children and adults. We learn something new everytime we go.
love bringing the kids here. they have so much fun. Not only is it a trip but it is also a learning experience for them!!
