Been with them 13 years. When they switched over to AT&T equipment I was pleased as they had many issues with outages and equipment failure. They seemed to be more reliable after the change but for the past 3 weeks they have been down and sending and receiving is much slower. I rely on my email for clients and if this continues i will be looking into changing providers which will be a huge headache for me as I use my email not only for clients but for state agencies for client taxes

I've been with GBIS for 20 years. Yes, twenty. Always top-notch, right on the ball, locally oriented, highly skilled. But lately not so much. There is no longer its famously quick interaction with its customers like there once was. They don't even maintain their website (the last problem noted is from a year ago). I don't know what's happened. I imagine there's a whole new set of staff than there were 20, 15, 10 or five years or even one year ago, but it's very sad.

Revising my earlier review from 1 star to 4. Communication breakdown, it's always the same (Led Zep). After some grief, GBIS resolved my concern. Download is now more than twice as fast and its bill 43% cheaper than what it was, so being told to "sit tight" was well worth it! Only glitch was the change was ordered for the wrong apartment number; had to convince the guy of the mistake when he got here (right on time by the way!). If not for ordering of the wrong apartment number, I'd give 5 stars.

Excellent service, uptime, and reliability. As a seasoned network administrator I am impressed with their customer service and quick reaction time to questions and concerns. They are prepared for the future with full IPV6 support. I recommend this ISP to anyone that asks, and even to those who don't.

I've been with GBIS for over 16 years. I've had dial up, DSL, and webhosting services with them and have always been happy. But the past year GBIS has been hit and miss. I switched DSL providers, and am leaning towards taking my webhosting business elsewhere as well.

In the past month, they have gone dark at least twice that I know of. No email, no website, nothing. Their support line doesn't even ring. Last time this lasted maybe an hour. So far today, it has been dark for over three hours. And I can't even reach them on the phone!

As they are not far from my place of employment, I drove over to ask them what was going on. I got, "Oh we are rebooting our PBX server." When I said that all of their services are down and seems to be happening more often than it should, the person I spoke with said, "Yeah I'm not aware of any major issues." I left.

I'll be switching as soon as I make other arrangements.

Update 12/4 (the next day): Noticed GBIS's Facebook page had a post some 8 hours after the problem began (it is still not fixed). The problem involves several routers from their upstream provider. My biggest issue with all of this is the lack of communication. As their site was down, and their phone system alternates between unreachable and unusable for any sort of support, why did it take so long to post something on the only outlet they had left?

I am disappointed.

Great Basin Internet provided me with just Internet Service at a affordable Price. Trust me I was skeptical since I've been a cable subscriber. But, Jeff at GBIS assured me. I would get everything I needed for streaming, Netflix, Laptop,I pad, cell phone. And he was right. Thank you so much. Call Jeff Ext. 208 for excellent service.
