I ve stayed at The Lowell many times, and I m never disappointed. The staff is courteous, efficient, and most accommodating. Having the concierges procure my Broadway tickets, make restaurant reservations, and tend to my every wish is the reason I come back year after year to The Lowell. The impeccable, beautifully decorated rooms are ample sized, and I love the marble bathrooms filled with nice toiletries. The restaurants offer delicious menu items. The Lowell is situated in the most desired section of New York City along a quiet street near Park and Madison.
#1 hotel in NYC!

The only advantage The Plaza boasts, is offering free post cards to write to loved ones and post them for you. Other than that detail, The Lowell was superior in every way:
The atmosphere was cozy but quiet,
The servers come by to refill your pot but don't interrupt unnecessarily,
The kitchen produced better quality of finger sandwiches and desserts,
Lastly, they provided individual sugar bowls for each guest, instead of a communal bowl with sugar cubes wrapped in plastic.
Make sure to respect their dress code, if you come in jeans or flip-flops, you can kiss your reservation goodbye.
The Plaza's high tea is a tourist trap, unless you're specifically looking for "The Eloise" experience for your child(ren), The Lowell is the best place in NYC for high tea.

Bathrooms are lovely , staff is really friendly , the renovated restaurant / lobby is really nice as well.
However , the in room dining presentation could be improved , as well as the rooms could be refreshed according to the prices . Management underestimated how important it the the breakfast interior ....

We went for the afternoon tea and were underwhelmed. At one of the highest price points we've paid, it was our least favorite tea to date. Our waiter was lovely, but the food was bland and boring. They only gave us one scone each, and one set of jams and cream for 4 people. Altogether I left full, but I was surprised by how little was served. Although the tea was refilled without needing to ask, and was placed on heaters to keep it warm. The dining room is so cozy and small, it all feels very intimate. But I would never return or reccomend.

Location is excellent, service impeccable and lovely rooms but something is stopping me from giving it a 5 star. They seem to be having lots of problem with their elevators. I had to take the service elevator a few times in my 4-day stay. They also don t provide body lotion, nail file, toothbrush and toothpaste like other top hotels. I purposely did not bring because I thought its normally given in 5 star hotel rooms. A visit to the pharmacy was the first order of the day. Another issue is that the air-conditoner is noisy.

I have stayed in quite a few hotels in the city, none like this. The quality, service and attention is amazing. The restaurant is not up to the hotel, but very good. In my last visits it has been my reference hotel. Highly recommended.

Service is impeccable! Atmosphere is quaint, but lavish. I would give 5 stars, but the mattresses are awful! For the per night rate this boutique hotel charges, better mattresses are a must! The two twin beds in my room were squeaky and very uncomfortable. I expected a comfortable pillow top high-end mattress, at the very least. I woke up with a sore back each day. I did not complain to the hotel management only because if both mattresses in my room are not up to par, I doubt a different room would've made a difference. In my opinion, those mattresses had no business being in that caliber of hotel - period, regardless if it were in my particular hotel room or not.

The lobby smelled of the beautiful flowers on display. The doorman and concierge person took a genuine and personalized interest in every guest they came in contact with. Definitely a high class hotel with high class yet down to earth guests from what I observed ; a lot of 'regulars' there on business but also some vacationers it seemed. If I could, I would choose this hotel.

The Majorelle in the Lowell is definitely one of the most refined places in Manhattan with excellent cuisine and wine in a highly elegant understated ambience. Perfection!!! Nothing less.

Everyone here greets you and is genuine and very helpful. The location is perfect. The rooms are tiny or ours was #7C We had two twin beds and a bathroom with one sink. No room for luggage storage but they were very helpful and took our luggage and stored it. The breakfast was set in the most pleasant room and was perfection. The wait staff were very attentive and there was lots of hot coffee. The hotel is located on 63rd Street just off the corner of Madison, and given the location it was very quiet outside. Our air conditioner re-set all night, this would need to be adjusted first before another stay. The were most helpful -- that is what stands out at this hotel is the service.

It was the worst experience ever in my life I ve been around the world on every hotel that you can imagine I ve never experienced something like this ever in my life when doorman didn t even give me a chance to pay my driver he couldn t wait to move us with the worst attitude that You can ever imagine
He basically try to make money somehow Because that s how most doorman in New York City hotels act specially with drivers like if you don t pay you not allowed to stay in the loading zone.
so I had to check out the next day after I was planning to stay there for 10 days I had to go out and look for a different hotel which I moved to the four seasons A couple blocks away totally different treatment High quality of service and the rooms are comparable. this hotel has the worst rooms ever that you can imagine size is very very small and uncomfortable.
and the worst worst part is the bathtub was dirty when we checked in So imagine what kind of holiday vacation I experienced because of this hotel I don t advise anyone to use it and let s not talk about the price which my brother supposed to check in next day which is the day that we checked out from the hotel and they still charge him a full day rates over $800 even we never use it.
it was the worst experience ever I don t advise anyone to use this hotel.
Bad people what sucked me is I don t know how come there is a lot of good
Rating in Google which I think they re buying it.
hiring a company to make them look good
so When Peoplet read a good comments about them online they will use their services. .

Beautiful hotel and fantastic staff. Terrific location. The calming wonderful smell as you walkin the door. Tranquil decor and attentive staff. What more could you want from a hotel when on a busy funfilled trip to NYC. I had a great stay.

Went for Tea in the Pembroke room. Service was just ok. The food while delicious was to heavly based on sweets. Then the scones are given to you at the end. The cost 75 plus tax and tip 97 dollars. A bit to much for me and i have had tea at many other places

We enjoyed a lovely breakfast this morning in the Pembroke Room. It's not all that often that we treat ourselves, but I really enjoyed taking my sister to the Lowell this morning. We had a delightful table by the window, but it was our waiter who made the experience so memorable. He was incredibly attentive and despite there being other people int he room, we felt special. Thank you!

Room was several hour late, but they gave us free drinks in the bar and they were friendly. Rooms didn t have USB charging ports and they were not new, but the rooms were very well maintained. We got welcome amenities (which we later noticed were supposed to be for another guest). Staff were very nice. Breakfast was intimate (read: small) and slow, but had a nice atmosphere and the food was good. This is NY and it is expensive, but for the same price you get a brand new room at the Four Seasons a few blocks away (service was much better and more personal than the Four Seasons). The room had a tiny kitchen with a large fridge and in the bathroom we had bathtub with a TV which was pretty cool. Overall very happy and had the room been ready as promised I would have rated this five stars.

My husband and I recently spent 2 nights at The Lowell, our favorite hotel in New York City. As a regular guest (I once spent 100 nights there over a 15 month period!), we had a wonderful time visiting during the holidays, and enjoying the lights, magic and wonderful restaurants of the city in December. The rooms are wonderful and so comfortable, but the best part is the treatment by the staff, always going that extra mile to make us feel as though we are a guest in a private home.

The Lowell Hotel was beyond wonderful!!! Our room was very nice, included a patio and penthouse view. The customer service was unparalleled and the support staff and housekeeping were very accommodating. We ate lunch at the Majorelle Restaurant which served exquisite french/mediterranean cuisine. I will say it was an OVERALL nice experience. However, I will share a few incidences that could be improved upon. First, we arrived at 4:30pm for a 3pm check-in, and the room was not ready. The staff ushered me into the bar area to rest while we waited. On day two of our stay NYC experienced torrential rain and thunderstorms. As a result of the rain, water was leaking from the roof into the bathroom and trickled down the walls causing a puddle on the bathroom floor. Overall great experience, will return again. Au revoir!

The Lowell is quite simply an exquisite hotel. It has the intimacy of a European hotel and is a lovely respite from the hustle of the City. The service is impeccable and the design is perfectly executed with clear attention to every detail.

I've never seen the rooms but am told that each is different and they are great and quirky. We only know the restaurant. Now it's Majorelle which is quite beautiful and will one day be one of New York's great restaurants under the watchful eyes of Charles Masson
