The hotel was fantastic. But I wish I could leave 2 reviews, because the restaurant "Oyster Catcher's" was extremely disappointing.
For the Hotel: The staff was amazingly helpful from check in to check out. We even wanted to use the spa in the rain and a gentlemen came out to adjust the temperature for us. The room was clean and had a great view. The breakfast was outstanding (we didn't include with purchase and we should have). The service at the restaurant inside the hotel was phenomenal. Seriously, just everything was great but the people were the true highlight.

For Oyster Catchers:
The first table was too low to even get my knees under (I'm 6'1", tall but not that tall). The hostess did promptly move us though when we asked. The bread was good and the crab cakes were good. The entrees were very disappointing. I got the black grouper that was recommended by the waiter and it was very bland and flavorless. My fiance had the tuna. It was cooked rare but also pretty bland. Both meal completely lacked any creativity. It was fish/vegetable/starch. No seasoning on the jasmine rice and the asparagus were those little limp ones you get at a chain restaurant. They were cooked well but I can't imagine a chef would put his or her name on this dish and charge almost $40. I could have the same thing at a Ruby Tuesday. The Key Lime pie tasted exactly like it was from Publix. I'm almost definitely sure that it was and came out of the plastic box. I'm positive the topping was cool whip that had been in the fridge a few days. This was chain restaurant meal with a $165 price tag. I would never go there again.
I'm giving it a 5 stars for the hotel and I don't want to hurt their rating. But people should know not to go to the restaurant.

Main buildings rooms were spacious and clean, rooms had complimentary slippers, fridge, water, robes, and safe. Airport shuttle ran every 1/2 hour, minutes away from airport to hotel. Separate cottage type rooms were available.Three restaurants available in or near main building. Food offered was lack luster and uninspired. Daily breakfast buffet was ok. Starbucks branded coffee was served, way too strong or sometimes stale tasting at least served hot. Food pricing was normal $$$$ for hotel convenience. Staff cheerful and friendly and helpful. Hotel has a boardwalk scenic pathway going through mangroves overlooking bay and bay flats. Uber access was never more than 8 minutes away.

Attended a work related dinner at Oyster Catchers. The food was amazing. All seafood was very fresh and perfectly prepared. They had a very nice wine selection and the service was very good as well considering we had a large group. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I spent Christmas 2016 at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay and the hotel and grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. My room was spacious, though the mattress and pillows were older and less comfortable that I would have expected.

I would have rated the hotel 4 stars, but my check-in experience was less than ideal. The woman who checked in me (and my toddler) was high as a kite; completely stoned. She was unable to give me accurate directions to my room and while I was taking the extra time with her to find out where exactly I needed to go; my toddler took the opportunity to run into an open elevator and ride it to another floor. I immediately ran after her to track her down and the woman from the front desk came along at her own leisurely pace; she did get on the phone with security and helped me track down my toddler, but there was no sense of urgency and at one point she was laughing about how "fun" the situation was. While I was trying to keep calm and not freak out, I was far from impressed with the level of assistance from the front desk associate. I think if I had been being helped by someone not under the influence, the incident would have been handled better, or possibly not have occurred in the first place.

My checkout process was expedient and pleasant. All of the valet staff and front door staff provided a high level of customer service. The room service staff member who brought us dessert one night was fantastic! I was impressed by all staff members with the exception of the front desk associate who checked us in.

Great hotel, quite a good surprise as american hotels are not my favorite (I am a frequent traveler). Staff is very helpful; we had a group discount and my sales contact was extremely friendly.
Breakfast is buffet, with various sweet and salty things although not the best I've seen.
Shuttle to/ from airport available every 30 minutes.
All in all a great experience.

I spent so much time trying to pick the perfect hotel for my boyfriend and I because we were going to Tampa for our anniversary. We stayed in a room with just one king bed on the bay side, the picture attached is a view from our room- it was beautiful. We also purchased the romance package and were given a bottle of champagne upon arrival, and had complimentary breakfasts delivered to our room. Food was delicious! (Also included valet parking but we didn t use it) the late checkout was also nice, as we didn t feel rushed in the morning.

The hotel has a boardwalk through trees and water that leads to a gazebo on the bay which was amazing. The boardwalk also leads to a restaurant and a second pool. The main pool has a lot of different seating areas, including a swing by a pond.

The staff was all beyond helpful & pleasant.

I will mention though, we did feel slightly out of place as I didn t see another casual couple the entire weekend. Everyone seemed to be there for events or business and we were definitely the only people strolling through the lobby in our sweatpants at 11pm on our way outside to the pool. (This is not a complaint- simply an observation)

Overall- an amazing experience and we will definitely be back.

There staff and service have been amazing. Even though I am here for work, I highly recommend the Grand Hyatt for anyone traveling to Tampa. The location is great for the airport and easy to get to downtown. Fantastic!

Great 4* on the bay. Airport side can hear them take off some but it's not bad. Memorizing to watch. Staff was mostly accommodating, pleasent and clean. Parking deck is old, dirty and has low clearance. $20 breakfast buffet: un-tried. Head over to the oyster catcher while here.

This Hyatt is huge, probably one of the largest I have seen beside the ones in Orlando. The views are breathtaking, the people working here are very attentive to their guest and and rates are cost effective. If you are in Tampa, I would highly recommended coming here.

Not impressed at all!! The $54 steak was charred and way too salty. We sat outside to only be entertained by obnoxious kids running around. It's a restaurant and not a playground. Oystercatchers, you need to improve your game. Your food is overpriced for what you are offering... your restaurant needs a facelift and it smells and looks outdated. Not at all correlating with the Grand Hyatt brand.

We were there last year and we felt that there was a little decrease in quality specially in the room service/ food quality. we really think that in terms of eco friendly: using packaging and plastic is actually NOT eco friendly than using regular plates and glass. sounds packaging is used for convenience but it makes the whole experience cheap as well. staff are lovely and very professional, the room quality is good a both light in the bathroom would be really a plus, we would suggest a child friendly play area would add

My husband and I stayed over the weekend in the Casista King room and we loved it. We really loved the tropical, luxurious feel to the room and all the wilderness surrounding us to explore. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay there again, and will bring our fishing poles next time!

We stayed for 3 nights. It was rather expensive but everything was catered for and no issues arose from our stay. The food at the in house restaurant was extremely mediocre. But otherwise it's a wonderful facility.
