No description needed since I've never been there. But one thing jumps to my nose reading here is there and this is it. The Management responds only to positive reviews while those that do not fully reflect their expectations snub them with great class ... Childish attitude.

This behavior is not suited to a 5-star hotel or allegedly such. So even if I could I would not choose this structure for a matter of managerial coherence.

I booked a room for attractive price of about 200 euro per night. Nothing seemed strange as there was a note about the room which was supposed to be standard 5star-hotel-room. What I got was old, worn out, stained, falling apart, with hole in bathroom wall and noisy as hell. I could literally hear my neighbours peeing.
As the location is great and I only slept there I thought I can live with that but unfortunately housekeeping stole my gucci belt and ofcourse I was told that I must have lost it.
Business corner practically doesn't exist. They have old dirty PC next to the reception but to print anything you have to email it to the reception and wait 20min for your printouts.
The only advantage of this overpriced place is the location. Not a 5star.

This Hotel has a special charm, mainly for its entrance hall, the staircase and the spectacular halls, which are worthy of a large palace decorated with frescoes, or a mansion of the end of the century. Here it seems that time has stopped, transporting us to another era, although for some clients it may seem somewhat outdated. But it is probably the best located hotel, close to everything and in the best shopping area. Also highlight your good breakfast, staff attention, and a beautiful roof terrace with views.

This is my favourite hotel in Rome. Its old world charm and architecture, gr8 service and our room was stylish and spotless. The bars r devine and at Christmas the decorations and tree really beautiful. The Nazis occupied it during WW11. Exudes history. Excellent location. Good value for money. We stayed 4 nights. Loved the marble lion staircase. Class act!

This was our second trip to Rome and my wife insisted on splurging on a 'Ritzy' suite this time (Yes, it was my wife's fault!). Our room was #580. The room rate we paid was 550 Euros per night (The rate card on the door was 450 Euros -- but they said that was wrong -- ???) The Problems & Defects: 1) The bed from Hell! -- Seriously, this was the very worst bed I have ever slept on in my whole life; and that includes couches and bare floors! It was like sleeping on a trampoline. Every time my wife would turn over, I felt like was going to bounce out of the bed. The 4" thick mattress had absolutely no sub-frame -- just bouncy springs. 2) The room was in a sad state of decay and poor maintenance: The white wall paint streaked onto wooden floor as if it had been painted by a child. Pieces had been cut out of the floor and replaced with ill-matching scraps of wood. The old frayed runner in hallway was bowed out of shape. While the bathroom had one of those fancy bidets, it did not have a single shelf to put one's toiletries on, which caused my wife to growl. The furnishings on our deluxe veranda consisted of cheap dodgy yellow plastic chairs, badly stained and weathered. 3) As usual, I forgot to bring my universal electrical plug, so I trotted down to the front desk and asked to borrow an electrical plug. They said they had one left and that they were going to charge me 20 Euros (They cost 60 to 80 cents in the USA.). I told them that I could buy 30 of them for that price. They replied they had to charge me that because of insurance. Whenever I asked what they meant, they always started to speak high-speed Italian. 4) The whole hotel reeked of mildew as if somehow it had suffered through a tsunami that had inundated all five floor. 5) The furniture throughout was well-worn by many decades of hard use. If you sat on a couch you could practically feel the floor beneath you. 6) For a buffet breakfast that would cost $3.95 in Las Vegas; they charged 74 Euros !!! 7) The carpeting in every public room was dilapidated, thread-bare and heavily stained and reeked of stale cigars. The desk staff bragged how movies had been shot there -- I could only envision Stephan King doing an even more chilling remake of either 'Misery' or 'The Shinning' !!!

A wonderful hotel to anyone who wants to make from a trip to Rome a perfect time. The hotel's beauty is indescribable - is overwhelming. For everywhere we look there is refinement, beauty and art ... the well-being I felt in the main room far surpassed the pleasure of visiting some museums and monuments. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and kind. Cleanliness is excellent. Being an old hotel (which is good) it is natural that there is one or another detail that can be improved, but of course ... in a hotel of this size upgrades are a constant. Personally, I have nothing to point that may have been a nuisance to me, on the contrary. It was a memorable stay, especially for my eyes. I cannot imagine returning to Rome and not stay in this hotel.(I spent almost a week here. Was I very lucky??? I don't think so!!!)

Great location as everything is located literally ...

Great location as everything is located literally 20 min walk to all the attractions. The Grand Hotel Plaza has a lot of history and unique design to its credit. Shopping Restaurants n supermarkets all a few minutes away

However it seems to have lost its charm due to few issues. The reception and lobby area can get a bit busy as they don't have a dedicated check in and check out area. The rooms are generally large and airy. We had three rooms however all varied in size and Facilities The rooms are generally clean and have traditional furniture and the rooms have been modified for air-conditioning The bathroom also are fairly large yet need more thought into the design. The flat screen TV was small 32 inch and needs to be updated. No tea coffee making facilities or an iron board The hotel has a grand ballroom with some lovely ornate work in the ceilings and lovely chandeliers. However it doesn't seem to in daily use and a shame that no effort is made to show off this historical area of the hotel Other issues are the Internet and the air-conditioning ( not at par ). The plus side the hotel staff are generally helpful. Thanks to Ana from Concierge who was very nice efficient and helpful in organising a day tour to Florence. A memorable trip

So if you are keen to be in the centre of town and enjoy a stay that has a lot of history and you don't mind not having a gym or pool, then it's fine hotel

The Plaza is a unique and beautiful hotel, well worth its reputation.

Its central location in the middle of the superb Via del Corso is extremely convenient to access most of Rome's favourite sightseeing spots in a few minutes walk.

The entrance, restaurant and main hall are astonishing with their intricate decorations and nineteenth century design. It's an absolute pleasure to unwind in the hall after a long day, looking forward to enjoying a delicious breakfast in the restaurant in the morning.

The rooms are very clean, tidy and comfortable, with a specific style to each of them. The bathrooms are elegant and deliciously retro, with luxurious toiletries by fashion house Sorelle Fontana. The air conditioning works well and opaque shutters can make you lose track of time by ensuring perfect protection from the sun.

The roof terrace is a delight, by day or by night, and especially when day turns into night. The cocktails are delicious and served with ample provision of appetisers.

Not everything is "perfect", and some of the other reviews refer to the weariness or age of amenities, which in my eyes is part of the charm. They are 'inconveniences' to a stay in this hotel in the same way that old paint decaying from the walls of the churches 'requires updating': it is part of the charm. If you want everything to be brand new and spotless, you might want to look elsewhere.

But if you want to experience the magic of an archetypal Roman hotel, one that represents the spirit of the city, there probably isn't any better.

Room not worthy of a luxury 5 star. Can not take a bath or even shower without causing a flood. Paint dripping on walls and carpet. Renovation work sloppy and very poorly executed. This room was a horror, we were offered another than the next day. ZERO for the meal on the terrace. All this is not acceptable for a 5 star. We should never have agreed to pay the bill.

Hotel conditions that reveal the signs of aging. Hotel on two floors without elevator. Arranged electrical outlets. Sticky bathroom floor. Breakfast with frozen croissants and forget the Italian cappuccino.

This place had a lot of charm...2. Stars taken away for very uncomfortable bedding, ac in room very weak, no coffee maker in room. Hotel is very old which added to its charm but felt dingy at times even though it's very clean. Staff is kind and helpful. Great location!!!!.. I would stay again. Valet parking was 50 eur a day so beware!

The only thing what is nice about this hotel is location. They have as well nice rooftop terrace but its hard to get free sofa as there is not much of them. Hotel doesn t deserve 4 starts. Its very old but you can t feel the spirit of it. Every room has door to the next room. This mean you can hear your neighbors. I recommend to not buy breakfast there as its not worth 30 Euro. Very few choices and some food was not 100% fresh. You have to wait 15 min until they fill up new eggs tray. Better to eat breakfast in any cozy place near hotel.

A luxury and historic hotel in the heart of Rome in an almost perfect position, a structure that I believe is to rejuvenate but that probably retains its charm and appeal for this feature too! Great professionalism and speedy service

What a wonderful hotel right in the heart of Rome! We felt like princesses :-) Spacious rooms with beautiful paintings on the walls and a warm, perfect service that leaves nothing to be desired. Also the location is perfect, because from here you can explore the whole city on foot.

Great concierge service, nice breakfast buffet, and great location. It has its own atmosphere. They upgraded me when I checked in however they asked me to pay for it when I checked out so I deducted a star for a poor front desk service.

Downstairs, WOW really authentic feel palace, upstairs, rooms are small, have dirty marks all over the walls, and you'd like to think a 5star hotel would provide a free bottle of water, rather than a small 5 bottle you know costs 1 I think the hotel is surviving on its location and lobby, because I couldn't imagine spending more than a night here

We stayed here in September 2014 for a week. The ambiance in this hotel suited our party perfectly, classic style. If you like super modern furniture and layout try somewhere else.

The location is perfect and the breakfast was fantastic. When we go back to Rome I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

The hotel s location is very nice. But the service is bad and the rooms are quite old and different than how it looks on the internet, you can hear the above rooms walking steps and the toilets flushing and glasses in the room is never removed and there is a picky system for the complementary water ! that we shouldn t ask for. Wifi worked for 1 night and the rest nights it was not working. Even on the phone people hang up on you without saying goodbye. Bad front desk service especially the night shift. Ordered a mini van to the airport and didn t get a confirmation and when I called to confirm and It was forgotten about. I would sacrifice the location for a better service.

Nice hotel. Central location. Helpfull and pleasant staff. The room we got was large and comfortable with a jacuzzi/shower in one corner. The reason I did not give the fifth star is the lack of sound proofing. We could hear everything in the adjacent rooms.

Beautiful hotel in Rome with horrible staff. They put my belongings in the toilet! The manager made sure to send me up some fruit to make up for it after telling me that he had a bad experience in America. Clearly he has issues with Americans. I say Do NOT Waste your hard earn money. After reading more reviews on them, they have had issues with staff stealing valuables. SMH!
