BE WARE AND READ IF YOU LOVE THE BEACH!!! Honestly I have nothing bad to say about this hotel from the staff who are amazingly courteous ..hesus at front desk and Natasha at pool are amazing professional and attentive to needs .when it comes to the beach and the availability to lay out this varies form day to day depending on the tide.sometimes the water comes high to the hotel that the beach disappears.unfortunatley this happened to us at our last vacation where we lost 2 full days with no beach access (other hotels on the island Did not have that issue). So if you don't care about the beach stay there the services , the food and staff are impeccable! But if you want a guaranteed beach access please go to another hotel (this is why I took away 2 stars)

Beautiful hotel, close to pretty much everything in Cayman.

Nice bar and food options and also event center.

The beach is very small due to it washing out over the last couple years.

They have nice live music options on the patio certain nights which I would highly recommend seeing!

The staff was so very pleasant, they really made the experience truly enjoyable. I cannot say enough good things about the people here. The rooms were very clean and the food was delicious. This hotel would be 5-stars if not for the dated decor and furniture in the rooms. I'd definitely stay here again!

Our flight was delayed a day so we had to stay an extra day. I was soooo ANGRY (lol, just kidding.) We looked for a hotel and they were able to squeeze us in here for the night. We lazied by the pool the entire afternoon and enjoyed some good food at their restaurant. Good Job.

Went here two days ago to a Symposium by the Cayman Heart Fund and I must say the venue was great, and the program well organized. Only problem is that there was no break during the four hour long sets of presentations, but they started early enough so persons could grab food or snacks, and everything thing started on time. Will definitely return

Cons: Not up to normal Marriott standards. Apparently a franchise. No glamour here. Food overrated, very overpriced...not very good. Rooms are ok. Not enough rooms with ocean views. Staff obviously friendly for tips. Gets annoying. SEWAGE SMELL occasionally outside near beachfront and surprising off shore consistently about 100 yards out in a certain spot left of property....someone pumping sewage out to sea !? Sewage smell randomly in various places throughout the area in about 2 mile radius of hotel (where I wandered) DOES THE ISLAND HAVE A WASTE MANAGEMENT ISSUE ?!!! Geesh !!

Small crowded beachfront area...don't go here for a pristine island experience or quiet getaway. Wall to wall beach chairs and people.
Again, not that fancy or glamorous...not like what you'd expect from Marriott.

Can't forget the horrendous perfume odor in the room. Yuk !! So strong they had to bring in an air purifier to clear it out and replace room filter. Their 'signature fragrance' is so bad and cheap smelling. Get rid of it. Go for citrus or something natural !

Pros: Many beachfront chairs & water sport activities available & included in resort fee (snorkeling, paddle boards, kayaks, etc..) . Available for rent: jet ski's, small catamarans. Beach towels and chair covers included in resort fee. Food and drink service at beachfront.

I planned my vacation year in advance... I researched Marriott and Ritz Carlton. Since I was booking with points, the difference made it 5 nights at Ritz or 6 nights at Marriott, so I went with Marriott. I did read about no beach and no chair availability issue in some reviews but I also read Marriott responses that they have been working on trying to resolve the issue and I was hoping that this would be resolved by now, since some of those reviews dated over a year prior. Re no beach issue, based on Marriott response, it was a storm that just happened, etc. so I thought the chance of this devastation happening again was slim for my visit. Also, I know Marriott built an artificial reef in front of its property for snorkeling and to prevent future beach devastation too, so I though we were safe.

Boy, I was wrong! There is literally zero beach (see expectations vs reality photos). The water come all the way to stairs leading to he beach and splashed on them. The two sad rows of chairs leading to the beach are being drowned in salt water. You cannot put your belongings on towers on those chairs without it being drenched in salt water with each passing wave. Ok, yes, per Management, there was another storm that happened two weeks prior. Well, the issue is, this is the ONLY hotel with this devastation. I talked to some folks during our bioluminescence tour who did not stay at Marriott and they mentioned that they took a long walk along the beach and Marriott was the only hotel where they could not walk on the beach and had to walk around.

So, I took a long walk too. The devastation is only at Marriott hotel. All other places have beach to lie and sit on. Next to Marriott, that beach is indeed shorter but once to walk 5 mins away from Marriott, other hotels and residencies have very large and beautiful beaches.

My conclusion from all this is that, when storms hit, it is the location of Marriott that makes it most susceptible to beach devastation, despite its reef. Management is saying that the rest of the Seven Mike beach is affected too, not just Marriott. Well, maybe, but it s either not noticeable at all or yes, some beach is washed away to one hotel and one residence next to Marriott, but there is STILL BEACH THERE. While there is NO BEACH AT ALL at Marriott. So, if you want a tropical hotel without any beach, make Marriott your choice. Storms happen. So, what happen to me may happen to you.

Now, beach chairs... Wow. There is not only no chairs available but also no place to even walk due to number of chairs that are at and around the pool. There are so many beach chairs that Management actually clears all tables from the Veranda restaurant during the day and puts beach chairs on Verdana property. So, there is a sea of chairs with no space in between with no chairs available for you. Yes, no beach problem exasperates the chair placement problem but it does not create chair availability problem. THERE ARE NO CHAIRS AVAILABLE STILL AFTER ALL THESE YEARS OF MANAGEMENT TRYING TO SOLVE THE ISSUE.

So, the result is people lining up to get chairs at 5-7 AM and stand in line until 9 AM when the pool opens. Year after year, this chair problem is not resolved... so sad and so frustrating to spend my family s precious holiday time in a resort with no beach and no chairs available to even enjoy my vacation. You should be ashamed of yourself.

If you book your stay with Marriott, expect to have no beach, no chair to sit on, and no sun to warm yourself in until noon.

Now, why 2 stars and not 1 star? Hotel is beautiful otherwise and staff is very attentive. But I come to tropical vacation to bake in the sun and on a beach and Marriott has failed my expectations in all the respects.

I LOVE this hotel I can't say more great things about it. Food is amazing, the spa is amazing, grounds are beautiful and the staff is really nice. You can snorkel, jet ski, paddle board, you name it directly from their private beach. The ocean front rooms are a must, we got a junior suite and it was great! Lots of space and an amazing view. Oh and if you decide you want to grab a car and go do the Bio Bay kayak tour at Rum Point (about an hour away) they have a Hertz car rental in the hotel! Everything you could possibly want, all in one place!!

It is really hard to complain about this hotel. Great everything. Really love the courtyard in the middle to relax and read a book. Located right on the beach. Highly recommended...we are a family of four (2 younger kids).

Spa is closed and that's disappointing, also the breakfast included with the room isn't true. Besides that it's a wonderful spot with many perks and free activities for adults and kids. Decent night life.

Excellent service, attention to detail, and first rate facilities. Keep in mind this is a family friendly resort (and my wife and I came during Easter Break), so dining at the resort restaurants had children of all ages, but please parents keep in mind others are on vacation and listening to your poorly behaved child screaming during dinner is not respectful to those around you.
Tiny beach... literally three beach chairs from beach wall to ocean, with water surging under the three rows at hightide, the pool is where you would prefer to sit, but first come first served (my wife gets up early and would set up by 5:45am),...6:15am most days the pool seating is taken (and you cannot reserve or rent cabanas). Kudos to the beach and pool crew, Myles, Miguel, and Conrad!

Would totally recommend it... the staff are accommodating and the rooms extremely comfortable... the modern interior is surprisingly warm. I would recommend if you are having a stay over the weekend that one should reserve a spot at the brunch.

I loved everything about this hotel. Our experience was amazing. All the employees here are amazing, always served us with a smile. A special shoutout to Mirna and Priya, who welcomed us for breakfast with big smiles! We are so happy and thank the staff and management of this hotel for an outstanding and memorable experience!

Amazing water, low surf, good snorkeling and other watersports right at the hotel. Beach is small but I prefer not walking thru 100yds of sand to get to my seat. Food is very good, like a JW. Staff is excellent, like a JW. We cam on a work reward trip but are planning to bring the kids soon.

Absolutely wonderful resort. Beautiful beach, great staff, delicious food, tranquil garden, exotic animals on site, great concierge, and great activities, night entertainment, and beach equipment for all ages readily available. Ocean view rooms spacious and quiet. Ice water and fresh fruit available on the beach, as well as waitstaff from the Veranda taking orders all day. Special notice to the ladies at kids club, Debbie and Rebecca, who went above and beyond to make our kid's have a wonderful experience. Also Beth and RJ who facilitated beach time with suggestions and fresh towels and umbrellas, and the creperie gentlemen who made us the most delicious berry crepes and juices. My kids keep asking when we will be returning. Highly recommend!!

Clean rooms. Attentive staff. The food and drink options at this hotel are really great. The only drawback is that the beach is really small. The lounge chairs are in the water. If you're the type that likes to play in the sand, you won't have a lot of room here. Other than that, I enjoy staying here.

Sevice and location is great. Spent 6 nights.Comfortable room.Topaz was wonderful with the coffee and the smile, thanks! Andre at the door was great help. And Judith with the gellato was very helpful. Thanks to all. Then we had this great mixology class! Snorkeling was fun off the beach.

One of the best Caribbean Hotels! They bring out free water to your chairs on the beach, free fruit in the afternoons, they will put up umbrellas (for free) when you need one and the water hammocks are to DIE for. Great kids club and activities in the evening ( dive in movie, beach bonfires, tattoos, etc.) One of my favorite places!

My experience at the Marriott Grand Cayman was pleasant and the hotel and service was good, but not Marriott's best. Their onsite services were expensive and better values can be had elsewhere on the island and off the Marriott premises. I was also greatly disappointed with the amount of tourist/guest trash and garbage in the water immediately off the Marriott beach. It made for a compromised swimming experience and totally ruined the snorkeling. I'm talking plastic cups, hair ties, beach toys, plates, plastic silverware straws, napkins, etc. Much of the trash is food service related and is under their control. Marriott should close the loop on this service and do a better job of policing the beach and keeping the garbage out of the ocean! I am sure their guests would help with this effort if Marriott put forth a program that made guest participation easy.

New Year's Eve 2016-17 . A large party with a great 7 mile beach setting. The music was non-stop loud, loud and more loud. The only dancing were people jumping up and down like a bunch of crazed pistons. The food was average, but worst were the drinks (pictured below) The picture is of a "Vodka straight up (Martini). It looked like they used an eye dropper. I was told that it was a 1.5 oz pour, but I doubt that very much. It was Gray Goose and the cost cost was $15 CI or about $18.50 US. It was insulting that this meager-sized drink would be standard fare when you are paying over $200. a person to attend. Too bad they chintzed out. Most people were very disappointed with the bar. I would suggest looking else where for a New Year Party.

The hotel is great - up to the usual Marriott standards. I'd really like to commend the Safety & Security Staff, namely Wafula & Mwangi. I experienced a minor 1st aid "emergency". These guys were great - treated me with care & compassion. Even followed up a week later with a call to my home in Colorado . Thanks, guys!

Beautiful updates to the hotel and the best beach on Grand Cayman. Good local cafes are just across the street. My favorite hotel on the island. Delicious frozen mojitoes at the poolside grill.

Right on the 7 Mile Beach. Every day and every night there are things to do or trips to take. Room styles vary by size and view. Not far from Georgetown and some notable restaurants. A daily offer is some snorkeling gear and a Go-Pro. They made an artificial reef so you can swim over it and take pictures of the fish. Then they download the images and give them to you when you are finished.

all the staff here have a great attitude towards guests - well appointed, great food and nice vibe. Beach side is a little cramped due to the restricted beach front. Prices are typical of Cayman islands, i.e. high!

The staff was very friendly here and everyone we interacted with was helpful and nice. The room was on the small side but you won t spend a lot of time in the room. Overall as a resort it s good but they have a small beach front and the chairs are jammed close together on what little beach they have remaining. Great snorkeling out in front of the hotel and good kayaking also. Food is expensive here, if you decide to do Sunday brunch check the prices first and be really hungry so you stay a while

My wife really enjoyed the body scrub and facial at the Botanica Union spa. I also had a massage there and Zara was very good.

Very nice hotel with excellent staff, we we're very well taken care of and the food and drinks were very good but on the pricey side.

There is not much beach here now after hurricane Micheal came thru and washed away most of the sand. They say it will come back but for now the beach is about 10 feet wide at low tide. So might be an issue for people with kids. They do have several floats in the water which is where we hung out most of the time

I haven t stayed at the hotel. Whenever I am in Cayman I always go to the Marriott to have breakfast. There food that they serve for breakfast is excellent; the staff are friendly. At the restaurant they have a buffet also for breakfast. I would recommend anyone who is staying in Cayman to have breakfast at the Marriott. The hotel s architecture design is magnificent.

TRIP OF A LIFETIME

TRIP OF A LIFETIME
As my husband was retiring this year and turning 64 and we were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary we decided to have a vacation of a lifetime and 6 months ago we booked the Marriott hotel in the Grand Cayman Island. We were also debating going to the Ritz Carlton but we do prefer Marriotts. It was the best decision we have ever made. I was in contact with the hotel supervisor Pamela Le Plaza who answered all my numerous questions that I had before arrival. We were greeted with a warm hospitality that resonated throughout the whole resort and our entire stay. After I had checked in with Minnie (super nice young lady) I realized I had left my prescription sunglasses in the taxi van and I was amazed at the concern shown to me. It was my error. I think I was too excited once I had arrived at the hotel and forgot to pick them up off my seat. The staff did all they could to try and locate these and Scott on the front door kept trying for me. A big thank you to him. ( didn t find them but was not going t let this spoil my trip)
Upon entering our room we saw a welcome letter, chocolate cake, strawberries and a bottle of bubbly in an ice bucket . Thank you Mellanie! All had just recently been delivered. I noticed these kind of details throughout our stay. This hotel has a staff that has been trained in the art of customer satisfaction!
We had booked an ocean front room and the view was amazing so nice to sit on the balcony and enjoy coffee in the morning.
The first two days we rented a car from the rental station within the hotel. Very convenient. Then we leisurely toured the island at our own pace. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the hotel Veranda restaurant with spectacular ocean views and musical entertainment on Thursday where they offered a two for one drink night including bottles of wine. Had attentive service from R.J. the waiter. We had already ordered a dessert ( I wanted to try the salted caramel ice cream everyone kept talking about) when he said he had a special anniversary cake for us but we could stop by the next day any time to enjoy it
Every day I had a call to check to see if all was good. Ana with housekeeping took very good care of us.
The breakfast buffet is very extensive and even though very busy the staff were extremely hardworking and efficient.
My husband took advantage of using the gopro camera and a paddle board both of these were include in our hotel stay. Esteban was very charming in showing us how to use the gopro.
Friday evening we decided to have sushi at the sit up bar in the lobby. Jovit was a great bartender and Raj our waiter was very hospitable and we even spoke with Steven the executive chef who we found out is from Lens in France and we had visited his home
town some years ago.
The beach was not that crazy busy and all the staff were attentive and friendly. I enjoyed talking with Tilly at the beach bar as I am from England and so is she. This hotel has such a diverse amount of staff. It was fun listening to every ones stories of how they came to the Marriott Grand Cayman.
On Sunday we had planned to go shopping but the stores close down in Georgetown unless there is a cruise ship in so I ended up going to the spa at the hotel and having a fantastic relaxing facial.
We departed on Monday saying goodbye to many staff who made our vacation so special. I cannot say enough words for the attentive, professional and personal service we received from Pamela Lea Plaza. She is outstanding in customer service.
We are already planning to return this time next year and bring our family. Thank you Marriott and staff of the Grand Cayman Island for making wonderful memories for us.

This place has a great lobby, restaurant, and outside dining area. The unfortunate location of the site on a protrusion of land accelerates sand erosion, resulting in the most narrow beach in the area; four layers of beach loungers are crammed into a tiny sliver of sand that is completely awash during high tides. Customer service was wonderful; the entire staff had a great attitude. The rooms themselves, although not bad, were in need of an update to match the downstairs. We enjoyed two dinners there, which were outstanding. Each night there is a different theme, with matching live entertainment. Beach snorkeling was kind of lame; the water was murky, unlike that seen on the rest of the island. This is probably due to the location and it's erosion. This place had a kind of spring break vibe to it, so there were drunks making racket into all hours, which will eat into your sleep. This happened twice. The Westin is a better bet if you have the means, but this one is more than acceptable.

The rooms are in need of an upgrade and some are much worse than others! The lounge/bar area is really nice and the food is very good especially the Sunday Brunch! The beach and pool area is ok but their sister property a short distance away (The Westin) is much nicer in this area. If you are traveling with kids they will most likely have company but if you are looking to avoid them you might want to stay elsewhere.
