The staff are perfectly nice as are the bars and restaurants. The rooms and hotel are in general old and 80s style. I do however object to them charging a service tax AND a resort tax AND an automatic 16% gratuity on everything - easily adding over $100 a night on to the bill with these sneaky charges. At the end of the day, you re better off paying a little more and staying at the Kimpton or another hotel that is a little less offensive with their fees. Recognition for Titanium Elites is limited.

I had an overall excellent experience at this Marriott. However, you should be aware that Seven Mile Beach has experienced a lot of beach erosion, especially behind the hotel. There really is no longer a beach that you can set a beach towel on. The water and waves often come right to the outdoor patio that surrounds the pool. I did, however, enjoy the water trampolines and the use of the Go Pro cameras. The service from staff was excellent.
We were there February 22nd until March 2nd for our honeymoon love the place they were so nice love the bar down in the lobby Danny the bartender was awesome we miss him can you tell him hi for us please we will be back !!!
Beautiful food laid on for breakfast and lunch. We were there for a three day conference, I was very impressed and by all accounts the room rates are very reasonable by comparison to other brands on island.
I just got back from a 5 day stay at the Marriott on Grand Cayman. The location, beach and amenities while great the best part was the staff. There was 50 of us in a group and we take a trip each year to some of the Caribbean's top destinations and the staff at the Marriott was the best we have ever experienced. Thank You. Daniel M. Joyce CEO Moors & Cabot, Inc.
The staff is excellent! The hotel itself could use a little more renovating, still feels old fashioned. The gift shop is not stocked with supplies for guests that may forget something. There are not enough activities during the day for people who aren't into water sports - they need more tours for sightseeing and stuff. If you are into water sports, red sails does not have enough equipment to accommodate the guests (4 waverunners, 2 peddle bikes etc) They need more night time activities for guests - no games or mingle events at all - The spa is a joke. The best thing going is Anchor & Den restaurant but once you've e eaten there, it's a wrap.
Slowest wifi of the many I have used. Pitiful business services desk. Even for boarding passes. Messed up bed Arrangements. Manager was not helpful. Worked it out ourselves. Great location beach bar restaurant. Staff extremely friendly and courteous except for the manager who did not fix the bed problem.
Unbelievably terrible - they had a 800 person party on a Friday night with absolutely zero regard or care for their paying guests. An extremely loud DJ, huge crowds of very loud people right outside on the patio, and zero care for their guests. Asked multiple times when the extremely loud people would be asked to leave, if they would close doors on the first floor and staff did nothing. I ve stayed all over the world and never experienced anything like this. The complete disregard for paying guests was taken to a new level. Will never stay here again.
After their renovation the Mariott is better than ever! With prime location on Seven Mile Beach, the Mariott has great rooms and reasonable rates (for a Seven Mile Beach Property). They have enhanced their public spaces and, guests/visitors More
Had issues getting the room cleaned despite several conversations with the desk staff. Post hurricane, most of the beach was washed away so little beach seating available... bummer.
Amenities are great. Regular staff and food was good. However, management lacked the courtesy, efficiency for a high end chain. They weren't very accommodating.
Expensive to eat. Two restaurants on site. Spa was great. Exchange rate is ridiculous. Also still waiting for $480 to be released from my credit card for incidentals which by the way I was not told that it would take 7-10 business days for the amount to be released from my card. This is something that needs to be told upon check in or when you check out. I specifically asked for a receipt at check out and was told I didn't need a receipt due to the fact that all of my resort fees and taxes were prepaid. Again no mention of the 7-10 business day waiting period
Quite a nice place where the staff is excellent and it does feel less corporate.
One of the best parts of this place is the use of their snorkel gear, stand up paddle boards and kayaks as part of the room rate. The food is solid. The rooms are more than adequate. It is in a solid part of the island along the beginning of 7 Mile Beach.
The only negative for some... There isn't much of a beach at all. That wasn't an issue for me as the pool area looked directly over the beach. The sunsets are ideal here. I would come back to this hotel without question.
Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
It is way too overcrowded and and if you aren't at your chairs on the beach for one consecutive hour you loose them. This rule is BS and they need to treat their platinum and titanium member a little better. Also, it is way overpriced for the level of service. Won't be coming back unless they change their customer services skills.
Great service. From the ladies that clean to the people that work the front door. I lost my phone and one of the nicest people who was staying there returned it to the front desk. Thank you. And thanks Marriott. I would stay here again.
This is the most amazing place with so much to do! You can snorkel, scuba dive, hike, swim, boat, jet ski, paddle board, kayak, or just chill and lay in the sun. It is a fabulous place to vacation.
Great place for an island getaway. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The resort goes for a beach house vibe but the staff makes it feel like a beach home. Lots of good food options. The beach is setup nicely with an built out reef that can be used for snorkeling.
My wife and I stayed at The Marriott for a week starting on July 20th 2016. The hotel had great rooms and were quite accommodating. Not once did I received poor treatment from the staff. I can truly saying they take their jobs quite seriously and aim to please. The beach is beautiful and the rooms quite clean. There were enough things going on at the hotel with regards to fun and activity to keep us busy. The surrounding locale as well offers a variety of things to do. The local buses only cost 2 Cayman Island dollars...around $ 2.50 american, and it takes you to and from Georgetown where the shops and waterfront area. We found a gem of a restaurant at Camana Bay called The Waterfront Urban Cafe and it was great, we ate there 3 nights in a row until my wife said no more. :) Lovely stay.........we'll go back!
Second time we've stayed at this hotel and it was a wonderful experience. The staff and service are second to none, breakfast and food is really great and wonderful cocktails and drinks in the bar. Only gripe is the price plus 16.5% service charge added to everything. Seems to me though that it's not the Marriot that's expensive but the Cayman Islands in general.
A wonderful location and a beautiful property. The beach area is technically public, but is so covered by Marriott chairs, employees, and guests that it feels fairly private. Know that a resort fee will be tacked on top of your stay, but it covers a number of nice amenities for a beach vacation. Restaurants on the property are excellent, both for drinks and cocktails. There is no shuttle for the airport, but taxis are plentiful and straightforward. Of note, while it's not a pretty drive, there are lots of restaurants, cafes, liquor stores, and grocery stores within a 15 minute bike ride of the resort if you are feeling pent up.
Lovely courtyard with turtles and beautiful cozy swing loungers. The atmosphere inside is divine, absolutely lovely and inviting.
The bar staff (at the bar INSIDE the hotel) are a little iffy when it comes to service which was disappointing at best; kind of embarrassing to think that we weren t served unless we flagged them down (which was surprisingly difficult to do) and embarrassing that they never asked us what our room was for billing (they did to everyone else who came during the time we were there) as if they assumed we were just locals and not good enough for the hotel because my friend is in fact Caymanian as she used to live here prior to the hurricane. I should mention that when we first sat down, we weren t served for about four minutes and we noticed all the bartenders just standing on the opposite side (it wasn t busy) and one directed for someone to come serve us and he never did, and then the other eventually came but after giving us the drinks we ordered, nobody asked if we wanted another round or anything else for that matter. It was awkward and you would think this service wouldn t be tolerated at such a high end establishment but indeed it did happen (if you compared the service we received compared to the other people that we were sitting next to).
You can find excellent service further down the beach at Seafire by Kimpton..
Will definitely not be staying here the next time we are on the island regardless of the beautiful atmosphere.
Wow! It's hard to make Cayman better, however, the Marriott Beach House does just that. Attentive service to meet any need. Make sure you stay for Sunday brunch! Well worth it!
The staff and hotel was top notch. Celine was our server three mornings for breakfast and she made a special effort to make my son happy. My only issue with the hotel was that it seemed very crowded. The beach area was small and full, and the indoor dining choices were often very loud.
Amazing experience. Booked through Costco. I'm a premier member too. The staff was extremely welcoming. Jose, the hotel manager greated us personally while checking in. Our room was ready when we arrived. The breakfast buffet was perfect. There are a lot of activities to do with children at this resort. They have free snorkels, paddle boarding, kayaking and more. On the weekends each of the two restaurants trade off with specials. For example, the Anchor and Den restaurant had Spanish Tapas one night. Overall, this is a great hotel for a 4 or 5 night getaway.
Excellent hotel.. the staff go above and beyond.. we left an item at hotel. Only noticed it once we had gone through security.. one phone call to them and they came out with it in 10min. Many thanks .
I'm giving this Marriott 3 stars....I love the Marriott, don't get me wrong...the hotel rooms were nothing to write home about, but who really stays in their room in the Caymans. I was a little shocked by some of the prices. Extremely over priced for their "special events". For example, the Sunday brunch was $76 per person not counting the 16% service charges and taxes. If you wanted the "bubbly" which included mimosas it was $84 including all the other additional charges. So for 2 people that's a little pricey for cold shrimp and a small selection of sushi. Lots of kids too. I love children but will try to book at an all adult next time. Some people let their children run and scream way to much for me. The service however was over the top. Our waiter at the grill outside, Walter, awesome! Neil on the beach was just as awesome...remembers everyone's name everyday! Impressive.
Service is very good. My only complaint is that the hotel seems to be operating way above capacity in January. During our stay we struggled to find beach chairs around the pool area and at the beach , which due to erosion is pretty much inexistent now. So, if you are more interested in a relaxing vacation with lazy beach days you have to find another place to stay. The website photos of the resort beach are completely inaccurate. The photo I posted below starts at the Hotel next door so y all can have a better idea of how much privacy you will have. Pretty much 2 row of chairs fits at the beach and as people arrive the chairs pretty much touch one another. Garden is pretty and there are nice hang out places around the hotel.
The hotel is extremely comfortable, I wanted to take the bed home it was that good. the only thing that let it down was being upsold a resort package as mandatory even though we used none of the resort amenities and had no intention of doing so.
Pros - exceptional service, active lobby area, nice bar and food choices in the lobby, restaurant by the beach and pool area, beds are OK, room a decent size
Cons - the beach is very narrow here so very crowded, old school tiny tubs / shower in a nice size bathroom
Visited in April 2017 - We wanted a beach front hotel and weren't able to see the beach without effort
1) Over priced. Including the resort fee we paid double what we think the room was worth for a partial-ocean view. Room had a King and small pull-out sofa. Don't bother spending extra for the partial view as our balcony faced the side of the Comfort Inn hotel next door. If we looked way off to the right we could see the ocean. Not worth the extra $. The rooms facing the courtyard were much better off. The rooms were just okay. Very humid despite adjusting temperature. Clothing never dried inside the room.
2) Beach is tiny and surprisingly rocky. The size of the beach is minuscule because the outdoor restaurants take up the majority of the beach area. With the remaining beach space, the hotel packs hundreds of lounge chairs into 4 or 5 rows. The chairs are made of hard plastic. There are not "trampolines" in the ocean but rather round platforms with a plastic mesh bottom that people lay on all day. There's no way to bounce on them. The beach has rocks throughout. I think this is due to the creation of the man-made reef. We had to be careful where we walked on the beach because we would trip on the rocks in the sand between the lounge chairs. In the water the "trampolines" were all anchored to massive concrete structures that are not marked and every day someone got hurt accidentally kicking them under water.
3) Could not get a front row lounge chair: We woke up at 6am every day of our 6 night stay and never secured a lounge chair in the front row. Unless you're in the front row, you cannot see the ocean. I believe people were leaving things on chairs late at night. It was a shame. We had to walk to the condos next door with towels to enjoy their spacious beach and views.
Amazing place with great staff and tons of little details that add to the overall lovely experience, got home yesterday and already looking into flights to return!
I was choosing between several resorts on 7 Mile Beach, but ultimately chose The Marriott for these reasons:
- Location. Staying on 7 mile Staying on 7 Mile Beach was important to me. I was only here for 2 nights and I didn't want to spend any time in a taxi. Free parking is available, but I didn't want to rent a car given driving is on the opposite side of the road than I'm used to. They provide free transportation to places like the Turtle experience up North. And all the activities I booked (outside of the Marriott) happily picked up here free given the prime location.
- Dining. I did some research on best places on 7 Mile Beach to eat and Anchor and Den as well as Veranda were both ON this property. I was really excited about not having to leave to eat at the places I was planning to go to. Anchor and Den blew me away and I ended up eating here nearly a DOZEN times (for breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, etc) over the course of the 3 days/2 nights I was here. It was literally that good. See my separate review on that.
- Service. WOW does not explain how I feel about the service here. I've stayed at many (many, many, many) nice resorts, but I was completely blown away by my Marriott experience. The staff was incredible. From first walking in and getting themed (non-alcoholic) welcome drinks to a great check in experience. The room was incredible, and as I entered the phone rang to let me know that based on my status they were upgrading my room. Instead of sending me back down to change keys, they sent someone up who brought us to our new room. How nice! Also, EVERYONE greets you, no matter what their position. And no matter where you are on the resort, someone is asking if you want a drink. Which for me, my love and addiction for champagne was endlessly fed.
- Ambiance. It truly is a beautiful property. They do a VERY nice job on the decor. I enjoyed it. The outside water area is AWESOME. Beach chairs in the water and also floating stations? YES.
- Activities. I wanted to be able to stand up paddle, kayak, jet ski, ride on a speed boat, and snorkel. And guess what... ALL these activities are available at the resort. They have an activities area that provides all of these RIGHT here.
- Above and beyond thoughtful additions. I was constantly surprised and delighted by the 'extras' they provided. Ability to rent a Go Pro for free? A lip scrub making station where you mix essential oils with sugar and coconut oil to make a lip scrub? A bar with aloe, coconut butter and cucumbers for your eyes? Yes please. A gelato cart with fine chocolates? A DJ in the lobby at night? This list is long and it amazed me at every turn. Many of which were provided for free.
Would I go back? Yes in a heart beat. Would I recommend it? ABSOLUTELY. I loved my experience here.
The beach access is sadly rigged. While we enjoyed most of our stay there is barely any beach access and even upon arriving to grab chairs at 6:30 am, all of the chairs were already taken for the full day even with guests not in them. There is no sandy beach access and they squeeze as many chairs on the deck as possible so it is impossible to relax. For the price point, I would not recommend.
My family and I had a great time staying here. The customer service is EXCEPTIONAL. We have traveled to many places like the Ritz, Four Seasons, etc and have not had better customer service. A list of names we have to include as demonstrating excellent service: Paulina, Neally, Conrad, Evan, Carl, Damian, Hannah, Michelle and Beth.
Restaurants: The food here is outstanding. Everything we tried was delicious. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Beach: As soon as you sat down there was someone asking you if you wanted food or drink. The guys working the beach were great as well. They will find seats for you on the beach and get you umbrellas. Very accommodating.
The resort fee is great also. It includes paddle boarding, kayaking, Go Pro camera use, Snorkeling gear and more.
What a great experience. From check in to check out we felt so pamperd. The daily activities for all ages were such a nice touch. We left with momentos that are our little treasures. Rebecca at the courtyard activities was such a gem. Goegina and Rasheed at the pool helped us each day in finding a chair and downloading our pictures. I highly recommend staying here.
Some people don't even leave the resort during their time, they are great at entertaining, great swimming salt or fresh. Room service was even wonderful.
Excellent experience and perfectly located! Luckily for us, my awesome employer paid for the total trip, but I can certainly speak on service. Everyone was so helpful and we truly had not just an awesome trip, but experience due to the Grand Cayman Marriot. Thank you!!!
This place is completely awesome. So much to do but can't totally relax every day. The staff is so friendly and go out of there way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. When we come back to the island this will be where we stay hands down.
If being in a sardine can and surrounded by a million screaming/crying children and their millenial parents is your idea of a good time, then come here. Way too crowded for me. Getting up at 5 am to get your spot on the beach is not vacation to me. The staff were friendly. The food at the indoor bar was good. Spa is very tiny and consists of 3 massage rooms. The rooms need to be updated. Everything is very expensive and put in Cayman dollars. You have to add 25% to the price of everything to get US pricing. Exchange rate is $1.25 They add 16% tip to every food service. Not sure if I would come back to the Caymans but if I did, I would not stay here.
This has to be the worst experience at any hotel I have ever been to. We arrive and the computers are down and nothing is ready. This is a group trip and our arrival time was 4 hours before check in. We get our room after 2 hours and have a room on the second floor right next to the lobby looking into other guests rooms. We called and about changing our room and was told someone would call back and no one ever returned our call. I then had to go back to the lobby and was upgraded to another that had the largest cockroach I have ever seen. I now have to convince my pregnant wife to continue to stay here after seeing that. We go back down to the lobby and they have us wait another 20 minutes and they make us feel like we are being a nuisance like we didn t just show them a huge roach in our room. Their resolution was to put us in the very next room where we found the roach, are you kidding me!! Horrible hotel, I will have to stay here because we have no choice at this point but please do yourself a favor and never come here.
I really enjoyed my stay at this Marriott. I spent a good amount of time reading by the turtle stream and making friends with all of the animals I encountered including chickens, turtles, iguanas, lizards, and even some crabs at night. The staff were incredibly friendly and very accommodating. I especially love the person who made my eggs every morning (bless him for waking up so early and still being friendly! I know I couldn't do that!).
I believe Georgina was our housekeeper and she always made our room feel refreshing to come into after a long morning of SCUBA diving.
The hotel was wheelchair accessible and I didn't have trouble navigating anywhere on the premises. For wheelchair users that really want to access the beach, you'll note that this hotel does have stairs to access the beach so this may or may not work for you based on your specific needs.
Excellent restaurant for breakfast and drinks/appetizers. Wonderful, friendly service from every member of the staff. The hotel is the perfect blend of beachy upscale comfort. Very family friendly. Beautiful spot on the beach and location on 7 mile os close to lots of restaurants. Loved the paddleboards as part of the resort fee, all resorts seem to charge it so at least you get something for it. Exercise room well equipped and clean. Pool is a little small and rooms will need updating soon. Beds were comfortable and housekeeping was great.
Lovely here. Not cheap but great service. Beach is pristine as expected on SMB and if you snorkel there is a reasonable amount to see just off the beach, probably look to the right of where they have the sun loungers in the water.
Fantastic stay and resort amenities were spectacular. We took advantage of the free paddle board rentals and free GoPro use. The hotel hosted fun activities during the evenings, such as Tapas with a flamenco band and dancers, and an evening with a DJ.
The Veranda Restaurant offers great lunch options accompanied by an absolutely gorgeous view of the beach. The Anchor & Den restaurant had great service and the food was delicious.
The hotel is beautiful. The staff are top notch. The food is world class though expensive. The major downside is that there is almost no beach. On a crowded week like this one you have to get down early to hope to get a chair on the sand and then you might be in the water. If at other times the beach comes back this is a great place to vacation.
