The White Horse Hotel Rottingdean

I booked this accommodation via Booking.com as I was attending a family wedding in the area and rhe pictures shown on Booking.com looked nice so after booking I contacted the hotel to ask for a quite room as I was going to a wedding and wanted to be rested after travelling 180 miles

I was advised a note would be taken.
Friday 28th travelling to hotel i contacted them again to reserve a table for dinner and was advised it was booked for 6.30pm which I was advised was all booked for me

On arrival I stood in reception for 3 / 4 mins where no one was at reception however staff members could be heard swearing on several occasions from the back office marked Private. I then phoned the hotel to get someone's attention which I did 3 times and each time it rung until the answer phone clicked in.

Eventually a young lad came out and said he would get someone eventually another lady appeared she told me I was in room 6 which was on the ground floor next to front door.

I mentioned I had asked for a quite room she said the room was quite when the pub closed I so advised of the swearing which she even apologised.





Back in the room for bed decided to watch TV which was pointless as keep losing signal so couldn't watch i was unable to use the WiFi as no sooner had you logged on it would log you off.

So with nothing else to do going to bed at 10pm the reception phone could be heard ringing and then the conversation from the staff the main front door slammed when people going back and fourth for a cigarette.

I was then woken at 5.30 with someone going out door slamming

Overall not impressed

Breakfast was completely different from the previous night where you had to take your drinks off trays and face masks or visor worn by staff and a one way system in place - however breakfast no one way system, staff not wearing visors or masks, and the door clearly marked No Exit / No Entry was now in used so you could go back and fourth as much as you like so no continuity

When asked for a refund or some form of discount as it was not a great nights sleep and the issues I had experieneced I was offered nothing

So next stop emailing Greene King direct

Would certainly not recommend a place to stay and as i am due to come back to a wedding again next year I certainly will be avoiding this accommodation

I have to say the pictures on Booking.com do NOT represent Room 6 in any shap or form

Updated - As the hotel has replied to my review can I make it clear the swearing was coming from the office marked Private and not from any of the rooms upstairs as you stated and as 4his was mentioned to both check in and check out staff and they apologised there was no way this was coming from the rooms above as Hotel claimed (as you were not there you are unable to commit regarding this) it was a young lad, there was also no storm on the day of the visit and as your staff were not at reception there was no one to ask re retuning etc but there is NO excuse for cleaning or the noise to be honest and if a customer has requested a quite room then all effort should be made not place them in a quite room and not at front of the hotel where you know it can be noisy or why not provide ear plugs if you are placing paying guest in Room 6 which is next to front door and under the smoking area where people like to stand talk and smoke which again is disturbing for customers who are sleeping.

5 bells n2 London, excellent service by ALL staff last Sunday, I hope you lot pass on my thanks and appreciation, these people are key to the future in these difficult times

We Did the Builders Clean on the refurb about 6 months ago and have still not been paid, Please kindly Pay Please.

Tonight we went to the "Waterside Inn" Paignton De...

Tonight we went to the "Waterside Inn" Paignton Devon. This is a Favourite of ours, last visit being Valentine's.
Great service always in this venue with friendly staff and fantastic prices.
We both had steaks on Valentine's and they were cooked to perfection. Tonight's meal was also great. Thanks.

Tonight I went to the Lord Ted pub and carvery at ...

Tonight I went to the Lord Ted pub and carvery at Newark. I purchased a carvery ticket and went to get my meal. I was told"Sorry we have no Meat." What an appealing set up. First to have no meat at a carvery, but even worse, not to be told this when paying for my ticket. The staff did not seem at all bothered about this and went on selling carvery tickets. Disgusting, unprofessional and totally out of order. There can be no excuse whatsoever for this. Not having sufficient supplies on hand is intolerable and the fact that Newark has several large supermarkets where emergency supplies could be purchased doesn't even seem to have occurred to them. Obviously this manager is incapable of doing his job. I walked out without my meal and will never go to this pub again and furthermore will tell all my friends and aquaintences about the episode. They do not deserve any trade whatsoever.

Visited the seven springs pub in cheltenham on sunday 21st with wife & daughter.The service was excellent,food came really quickly and all three meals were fantastic.Special mention to Kieran who made us feel welcome & service with a smile.
