Hampstead Heath (locally known simply as the Heath) offers 320 acres of wild woodlands in North London accessible via multiple public transport points including Hamsptead Health tube station, Belize Park tube station, Hampstead Heath overground.
The Heath is one of best ways of discovering a green side of London. It includes Parliament Hill, Golders Hill Park (with a zoo and butterfly house), an open air lido, five swimming ponds, splash pools, sports pitches and facilities, athletics track, playgrounds, a stunning listed pergola and Kenwood House. Cycling is limited across most of the Heath but there are areas to cycle in. The surrounding area is affluent including Belsize Park and Hampstead Heath.
The Health first appears in the history books in 1543, when its springs supplied London and when hunting and hawking were forbidden in the area, to preserve game for the king, Henry VIII.
