The Bridge of Rio - Antirrio or, officially, the "Charilaos Trikoupis" Bridge is a cabled bridge that was completed and came into operation in 2004 between Rio (suburb of Patras) and Antirrio, connecting the Peloponnese with the western mainland Greece and up and more broadly with the rest of Europe. Excellent job.

888,000,000 $$$ (LLL (e.e.e.)) and then the nation goes b.k. all so a casino can be erected and be fed tourism's clientele. the same money lenders did the same in brooklyn n.y.c. and Saint Francis kalifornia a hundred years ago, see what they've delivered lately w/their mass transit capability. never is food, clothing, transportation, shelter & medicine supposed to be a for profit busy-ness concern, always instead a non-profit or not-for-profit complement to society's culture of humane treatment of The People. when the banksters get involved, they end up using their for profit concerns for their decades later devilment of destruction & de-evolution. I don't see many people on your bridge. only commuters. not that many happy family & friends getting together.
6.50 euro per car one pass Half price compared to bridge Every half an hour there is a departure Be aware that there is nothing to buy on the ferry not even water 15mins to cross the channel Good way to have a break of long trips Negative the absence of two bows in order to have a FIFO (first in, first out) system Be careful of the road signs as they are a bit confusing
Don't mention here the toll, there is another point ("Rio Antirrio Bridge Toll Station) on the map to complain about the high price. An imposing project, which faced great technological challenges in its construction. It is one of the biggest projects. of the country, one of which we are proud of. It has great views whether you are walking, driving or even watching the boat. It is great to walk, enjoy a relaxing stroll and breathe the air Very nice to be on the shores of the Peloponnese or Central Greece and enjoy it, especially on a light Saturday night.
Well, I don't want that part on my doorstep. But the curved, elegant shape has something and is a real eye-catcher when coming by sea. Clearance height 52m. In Navionics nautical charts I found only 45m.
Very convenient way to pass across, but expensive (13.5 ). He wants a lot of attention in transit, in extreme weather conditions. Great and impressive work, instantly.
A masterpiece of architecture that unites the GREECE of the North with that of the South ... The toll by car is equal to 13.25 per way and the presence of toll on the PATRASSO side is not reported before ...
Score: [10/10] MY RECOMMENDATION: [Recommended] --- MY EXPERIENCE: I ran over that bridge a few years ago, that was the start for a great athletic journey for me. I totally recommend trying the view from that magnificent bridge!
Usually we pass it from above, whining about the expensive tolls, seeing it only driving from afar. Make the effort to stop by her is impressive. Besides, let's not forget that this is one of the biggest projects in Greece.
The Rion-Antirion Bridge in Greece, which was first opened to traffic in August 2004, was the product of a seven-year construction project from 1998 to 2004 (including a two year preparation period 1998 1999 and a five-year building period 2000 2004) and resulted in the world s longest cable-stayed bridge. With a suspended deck of 2,252m, the Rion-Antirion Bridge features four pylons (where there are usually two) and has a reference span of 560m. Located in the western end of the Gulf of Corinth in Greece, the Rion-Antirion Bridge links the Peloponnese (southern Greece) to the Greek mainland. The bridge also unites two major roads: the intersection of the Patras Athens Thessaloniki motorway (which forms part of the European motorway) and the western axis of the Kalamata Patras Igoumenitsa road. The five-spanned bridge was completed in May 2004 and after its opening the bridge has significantly reduced the crossing time of the Gulf of Corinth to around five minutes from 45 minutes (previously by ferry). Currently 10,000 vehicles cross on a daily basis.
The bridge is nice but when you live in a country of the 21st century you do not offer accessibility only to cars and trucks. To cross the bridge on foot or by bicycle you have to climb 3 floors of stairs and then, as is always the case in Greece, the sidewalk stops. When so many billions are given for projects, it is good to think about all the users, only those who have a car do not have the right to move. I wish I could pay and I could pass as a human being.
Except for the price of the car ride on the bridge which is not cheap, Who and his time in his hand can save a little if crossing the water by ferry,
Charming architectural work, Worth a photo from the beach both day and night. Extra long string bridge, Impressive decoration for the city. recommended, Impressive.
Travel in September 2019 - 13, 50 euros, which is very expensive. But we didn t go to inspect the bridge, so we went to Delphi, so ... The bridge is really impressive, before the trip it s worth watching a film about its construction. Then the design appears even more impressive. The price, of course, is high for a budget tourist. Walking, probably, and not by car, will be more interesting.
One of the largest construction projects of modern Greece, the continuation of the Ionian Highway, connects Western Solidarity with the Peloponnese. The bridge is also named after Charilaos Trikoupis in honor of the Greek politician who envisioned it a century ago, is almost 3km long and built by a well-known French company.
Certainly an impressive building. Whether it is because as durable as some buildings of Greek antiquity will be but may be doubted. With 13,30 also quite a hefty price for the crossing is called.
Achievement of engineering. An incredible construct. But let's not forget that this is a road that should serve the citizens. The 13 euro for a simple passage is an outrageous amount and puts you in second thoughts about the real utility of ...
It has been more than a hundred years since the then Prime Minister of Greece, Charilaos Trikoupis, envisioned the bridging of the approximately three kilometers that separate Rio from Antirrio.
In 2004, this ambitious vision became a reality. The Rio-Antirio Bridge is a landmark of 21st century Greece and has improved the daily lives of some of the country's inhabitants.
On weekends, the bridge lights up in blue and yellow tones. And it's better to look at it from the ferrybot) Although it's also fun to ride along the bridge itself (but it's more expensive in two in one direction).
A really great achievement of bridge construction and a significant contribution to the highways of Greece. It started operating shortly before the Olympic Games in the summer of 2004. The time to go from Rio to Antirio has been reduced from 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the weather. Those who passed by the ferry will remember it. The only disadvantage is the high toll price. I think that, with a slightly lower cost, there would be more vehicles with more profit.
