Quite a beautiful resort! I only wish there was a little more to offer. The weather wasn t great so after a day of sitting on the patio playing dominoes and drinking cocktails the adventure was over. If you re looking to relax at the nice pool this is your place. If you re looking for more adventure I would go elsewhere.

An excellent place to be in contact with nature, animals and get away from the noise of the city.

The rooms are spacious and simple.

The food and customer service is good but it can be better.

Is ok

I was really pleased with the visit as a European. Great service and many interesting, exotic creatures were presented in the nature. Small crocodiles, monkeys, butterflies, a snake and a poisoned frog. Recommended.

Great place to get out of the city. Hotel tries hard to accommodate everyone. Get the all inclusive package without it dinner buffet is $28 per person. Pack a water bottle, bug spray and a hat - have fun!

It is a luxury hotel in the middle of nature with a beautiful pool and an elegant restaurant. They organize different excursions to know the surroundings. Walking through rainforest or sailing on the lake. You can see different types of birds, monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, ...

It was an excellent visit to the hotel for our oldest son to meet. We did not stay this time. It is a spectacular landscape located in front of the Chagres River. It is surrounded by jungle and songs of different birds can be heard. The weather was especially cold. It is normally a tropical and humid climate, but this time it was not.
The food and the bar is very good and it is located in such a way that you can contemplate a spectacular landscape. After the rain you could see the mist high up among the mountains located in front of the hotel.
We have stayed about a year ago. The rooms are comfortable and with a good view of the river and mountains. But I remember there is a very strong musty smell. I recommend paying attention to the Air Conditioning since if it is turned off when you get to the room the smell of humidity is stronger.
This hotel is quite old and requires a refurbishment to reach its maximum potential and reach the 5 stars that it possibly had in the past.

Domage that the place is a bit expensive for foreigners $ 30 from 8am to 10am and $ 20 after 10am ...
But the view of the pipe line above the canopy is quite nice and the corner to observe the coloibris too ...

It was set in a gorgeous setting on the Chagres River, off of the Panama Canal. Surrounded by rainforest, the nature sounds were incredible. The hotel's rooms all faced the water and hammocks were provided on every balcony.
The beds were very comfortable and the buffets were delicious, set in a beautiful dining room facing the water.
The staff was mostly friendly, and there were a few who stood out.
They offered a 'Night Safari' that was just okay and we did see 4 animals, but nothing real exciting. Trying to stay in your seat on the bench of a rumbly, bumbly open top 4WD was as much fun as looking for animals!
Our boat trip to Monkey Island and on another day to visit the Embera Indian Village were incredible and I highly recommend these two outings.

The 4 star is for the Place itself; but I do not return to the hotel ...
The very simple answer: low supervision of the staff (eye is the staff is very friendly, helpful, but they lack supervision)
-That only one person does the check-up because there are no more people, when it is observed that it has 3 check-in stations.
-It is impossible for a hotel to run out of towels for the pool.
-It is inadmissible that the pool service closes at 4pm and that there is no person to attend to the guests
-I can't find words so that during breakfast the pancake / waffle mix runs out and a kitchen assistant yells at the cook not to ask for more than there is no mix because it's over in his turn.
-That at Christmas dinner the desserts were sold out and they were not going to place more than 830pm and everything should finish at 10pm
-They do not answer by phone from the rooms.

Points in favor:
Good kitchen; good letter, but it must go when they hardly open otherwise it runs out of what I may have caused.

As I said at the beginning, it is a place not to return and the valuation is for nature and sight.

So cute

Real trap for tourists, from the manual. Disastrous organization and services. The transport between the different activities of the resort can not work worse, and the food is to run and / or dig a fork in the neck, not only for its quality but also for the price: buffet service at the modest price of 26 dollars to eat puree of potato in the purest cement style, octopus stewed in chewing gum style, and rice that looked like a small pile of buckshot. In short, a full-scale armed robbery. Do not waste your time or your money and visit other more authentic (and honest) places in Panama. Money is possible to recover, but time is not.

The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. She answered a lot of my questions to my complete satisfaction. The guy who was driving the boat had very sharp eyes and could spot animals at distance when the bird was going at 40 km per hour. We saw many animals such as crocodiles, monkeys birds, iguanas, turtles etc. We also got the flavor of jet skiing as the driver drove the boat at very high speed and went round and round when there were waves.

Outdated place lacks maintenance bad and expensive food and do not respect the offers. Offer a prepaid internet service and when we get there the surprise the restaurant closed. The other with buffet food and the worst food. Bad staff attention

an extraordinary place .... where the atmosphere of the colonial era remained crystallized at the time of the construction of the canal, however remaining faithful to the objective of respecting nature and the surrounding environment .... The peace that is lived at the gamboa raibforest resosort is unparalleled .... only by going there in person can you understand

Great disappointment. This property has a great history and I believe 20 years or more ago must have been magnificent. The location and scenery is breathtaking. You see several animals roaming the property in their natural surrounding. The problem is the building and staff. The buildings need some major upkeep, rust, mold, peeling paint and broken items are very frequent and the staff. They either don't have the answers to you questions or give you the the wrong information. Nothing is posted, schedules are unheard of and you have to find out what is going on by your self or ask another guest. Very, Very Disappointed, decided to leave a day early. Its a shame, such a beautiful area.

It is a wonderful place, with spectacular views in the middle of nature. It has a lot of charm and history. On the other hand it is cozy, clean, and the service is attentive.
To all this I want to add and comment on a personal experience: The past weeks we were visiting him, and my father - he is almost 80 years old - suffered a "heat stroke". The treatment that was granted to him in Gamboa Rainforest by each and every one of the members of the staff that works there, from the doctor (doctor) who treated him, to the man at the entrance gate, who answered our call asking for help was exceptional. They even sent a hotel vehicle to pick him up and transfer him. From here (Spain) and back, I want to thank everyone and of course, recommend this place to everyone who reads me.

Very nice, elegant and cozy.
