Mystery, caves, murder and courts...we took part in a murder mystery while exploring the basement prison for clues..the experience was incredible and we enjoyed the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately the food was average but enjoyable nonetheless.

Great role players full of interesting stories and facts, the museum is full of information that older kids or grown ups could spend hours reading. Younger ones might get sick of some of the reading but plenty to keep them interested that doesn't involve reading. Tip- at the time of writing the nearby NCP Stoney Street car park is doing massively reduced parking if pre-booked on their website.

Well executed! No pun intended. Scary stories and horrible histories galore..... as a psychic, I could feel real malevolence as I descended down to lower levels. The noose and gallows' equipment freaked me out.

LOVED this place. Very, very cool. All four floors offered different strokes for different folks but the dungeons and dark cells in the bowels of the building were most intriguing to me! Very, very well done.

Very very interesting. All well signposted, explained and taken care of. There are a couple of hilarious live animations, which involve visitors (my friend was made a witch trial), very friendly and funny actors. Upon entering they put a bracelet with a prisoner number that you have to find to know what happened to you and why they judged you. You can spend several hours there without getting bored because there are several activities besides the museum itself. I loved.

Visited on Sunday 17/11 the lady on Reception gave a lovely warm welcome. A big smile, and a clear briefing. The Sheriff of Nottingham was humorous, knowledgeable and engaging. The cold prisoner downstairs was also great at making us feel the environment as to what it would have been like. This is my second visit, (although i did miss been walked around the prisoners yard, as i experienced on my last visit).
Great day for the family, kids loved it, as did mum and dad!

This is a great place, full of history. If you can, attend the With trial and hanging. Very entertaining and informative. The actors/guides are talented, knowledgable and approachable.
Oh and you get a convict number to find out what you're in for.
Great time.

Absolutely loved the museum. Brilliant, very unique. The actors were great, good fun. We spent about 3 - 3 and a half hours there and easily could have done more. Only left as we had to. We had the city of caved booked as a joint ticket which was also great, worth a visit.

A really interesting place only if you pay to tour it. We were ok on the day we visited but the lifts were our of action and the museum isn't necessarily accessible to individuals that are in wheelchairs or have poor motor skills.

Well, I was not expecting this at all! This place is amazing and very nicely managed and supervised, with knowledgeable guides who are actors playing the part of prisoners so well that you are transported back to pre-Victorian times. The place is very interesting, you get to see the Victorian courthouse and sit in judgement of the prisoners if you are lucky, and then you go directly to jaol yourself. The tour through the old prison cells is on many levels, decending from ost recent "on top" down to the original prison cells in the basement from the Norman period. It's a great place to visit and good for families with children especially if you book in to one of the guided tours with your own "prisoner" to show you round!

An interesting explanation about the history of prisons in England, transportation and capital punishment. Clearly intending to meet the needs of school groups, the displays are set quite low. I didn't have time to see the court rooms and displays about the police also litigation. Next time I am in Nottingham I will go back.

About Galleries of Justice

Galleries of Justice: Discover the Fascinating History of Crime and Punishment

Are you a history buff looking for an immersive experience that takes you back in time? Do you have a fascination with crime and punishment, and want to learn more about how justice was served in the past? Look no further than Galleries of Justice, a unique attraction located in Nottingham that offers visitors an unforgettable journey through the history of law enforcement.

At Galleries of Justice, visitors can explore two distinct attractions: The National Justice Museum and the City of Caves. The National Justice Museum is housed within Nottingham's historic courthouse and gaol, which dates back to 1375. Here, visitors can step inside real courtrooms where trials were held centuries ago, see original prison cells where inmates were once held captive, and even take part in interactive exhibits that bring the past to life.

The City of Caves is another must-see attraction at Galleries of Justice. This underground network of sandstone caves dates back to medieval times when they were used as tanneries. Later on, they became air raid shelters during World War II before being rediscovered in the 1970s. Today, visitors can explore these fascinating caves on guided tours that take them through narrow passageways and reveal hidden chambers filled with historical artifacts.

But what sets Galleries of Justice apart from other historical attractions is its commitment to providing an immersive experience for visitors. From costumed actors who bring historical characters to life to interactive exhibits that allow visitors to try their hand at being judge or jury, every aspect has been designed with authenticity in mind.

Whether you're interested in learning about famous criminals like Robin Hood or exploring how justice was served throughout history - from medieval times right up until modern day - there's something for everyone at Galleries of Justice.

But don't just take our word for it - this unique attraction has received rave reviews from both locals and tourists alike. Visitors praise its engaging exhibits, knowledgeable staff members who are passionate about sharing their knowledge with others; as well as its convenient location right in the heart of Nottingham's city center.
