Very pact with people and its always a hassle finding parking . They charge $5 per car to enter the Zoo just to park plus your entree cost to see the animals. Price is $13 per person to enter zoo.Staff are nice. I would recommend having several Fans around the park that constantly spray water . With the long walks and with the kids it woulf be nice to get some fresh air and get sprinkled with cool water. Poor animals they always look depressed and they lack proper shade from the sun. Overall like always it was something the kids wanted to see and they enjoyed it.

It's not so enjoyable because of all this covid-19 stuff going on. Reptile house is closed. Some animals are being moved to another place/exhibit, so they're gone . MUST wear mask entire time. Signs throughout the park to try & control the direction of traffic. Not the best thought out plan for "flow of traffic".

Excellent for families with younger children. I recommend getting the Family membership! Plenty of Zoo Events, but are always really crowded.

Edit- we've moved out of CA, and our new local zoo cannot compare to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo! Fresno's zoo has TONS of activities that many other zoos don't (Dino Dig, Stingray Bay, the bird show, giraffe feedings, Small Wonders petting zoo..) in addition to the best exhibits I've seen in nationwide (African Adventure, Sea Lion Cove ..)

Awesome experience!

Awesome experience!
The zoo was clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
The exhibits were not only educational but fun.
Most importantly, the animals look healthy and have adequate room, water, shade, misters, and fans. This is very important in this valley heat.

My 6 y/o had a blast.

I don't want to tell you why I love it so much, because more people will go and it'll become too crowded. But if you ever have a chance to go, make sure you go deep into the rain forest part...

As zoos go I'll as far as to say it's a C+. To start, at it's busiest parking is impossible. The lot arrangement is poor due to it's single entry/exit point, lack of room, and the fact that it is shared by the amusement park across the street. Parking was $5 but I could see it being free when it's not so busy.

The membership to the zoo for a whole family is $99, if you can't decide if you want to buy it in line you can actually pay your normal entry fees and then comeback and have that day's fees go toward the membership if you do decide to get one. There are, of course, different levels to membership but the gist is you can stroll in on the member line and get 10% off purchases in the zoo.

The zoo itself does have some great exhibits, most of what you'd expect to find at a zoo but some are just a bit lacking. I've only been here a few times so there may be other ways around but from what I can tell there are at least two, maybe more, exhibits that so not have handicap/stroller ramps on one or both sides.

The dining facilities range from a medium sized quick bite spot to a large shaded, artesianal foods with an amazing view of the zoo's largest exhibit containing many African favorites cohabitating in one area. There aren't many food stands or generally opportunities for snacks besides these two spots and the gift shop - wouldnt want to tempt people to feed the animals I guess...I still wish they had Dippin' Dots..

Animals seem well taken care of and there are certainly a variety to be seen. If I could change one exhibit, I'd give the Tiger much more space. Seems a shame but you be the judge.

This zoo is well kept and popular with locals but it really doesn't have that something to it that I would needed to want to keep coming back. It's not bad by any means, just average I think.

So much to see now that they've been updating and building new areas. The new water play area is a nice place to cool off but to my 5 year old it makes the zoo more about playing in the water rather than about the animals. But a great addition for those with annual memberships looking for a way to cool off in the summer months.
