The Market Lunch has very good fish (i.e. Whiting, Porgies and Haddock) and chips sandwiches and platters at reasonable prices. My sister bought blood oranges from the two of the fruit and vegetable vendors. She said that they were delicious. I also bought spinach and feta empanadas and they were really good.

Small farmers market of fresh fruit, vegetables and some crafts. Inside are about a dozen deli places with fresh meats, smoked goods and ready-to-eat savoury foods. On the exterior are coffee shops and speciality stores (including a chocolate shop).

Can get busy around brunch (2pm) especially the shops near Penn Av. A great gem for the area.

I come through Eastern Market almost every day. There are a variety of stores to choose from; then you also have the option of going to the markets where the meats and vegetables are so fresh. The bakery is everything. Go outside and the street vendors have almost anything you need. It's an experience that everyone should enjoy.

I m not sure if the indoor portion is open right now, but we walked through the portion that is outdoors, since it was such a nice day. They have food vendors, as well as clothes/nic nacs, etc. Nice little area to spend maybe 30 mins.

Nice outdoor market. A bit small hopefully there are more vendors in the summer time. The indoor market has really good food. A tasty bakery and a few pricey butcher shops. A nice diversion for a lazy Saturday.

I love to come here on my weekends! I enjoy the fresh produce and the merchants. I have found amazing soaps here, as well as vegetables! I love coming on a sunny day and walking around the market. The people watching and the large varieties of food to eat, is perfect on a nice weekend day!

Not what it used to be. It feels empty and gentrified. The flea market is no more. Scattered vendors trying to hold together this beloved DC landmark can't do enough to replicate the feeling of the old market.

An ideal place to visit on the weekend! A true market with vendors from all over, selling goods and foods from around the world. Last time I went, a man was selling Greek olives from his family's vineyard in Greece, and there was fresh produce from right around the DC area. Ditch conventional shops and stores, and spend part of your day among this multicultural community.

Not what it was 18 years ago. We use to buy the most gorgeous florist worthy wholesale flowers here. During my last visit, some of the vendors were rude, presumptious, and stuffy with mediocre offerings. I am a native Washingtonian. I hate when people bring their very narrow cultural perspectives to DC. That is just not who we (DC) are. We are diverse, inclusive, educated, candid, proud, and fun.

I've been here many times to this historic Sunday market but I'm always unimpressed. The artsy feels forced, and art itself is expensive. Even the antique furniture is exorbitantly priced. The indoor food market is nice enough, but you can find the same things at all the local farmers markets in the DC area for cheaper.

A fantastically diverse market that is especially worth a visit on weekends when the flea market is running next door. The prices can be high, but the quality is truly stellar - it's so fun to buy freshly made pastas, meat that is virtually still mooing, and vegetables grown just a few miles away. I also love all the local artisans in the section outdoors - it's wonderful to see DC-based artists getting so much business and appreciation. The little diner inside the market serves great BBQ and crab cake sandwiches, if you're willing to wait in line. There are a couple of other tasty food options outdoors, too - try the fresh pretzels! Overall, the atmosphere is festive and fun - there's often live music or other entertainers, and the whole neighborhood is buzzing with energy. It's really the perfect place to spend an afternoon!

So, this is my first time visiting Eastern Market. It has a lot to offer at both the outside and inside markets. Outside, you ll find vendors selling handmade soaps, jewelry, other crafts, fruits, and vegetables. Inside, you ll find meat and seafood vendors, restaurant(s), bakery, and fruit stands. I think this is a great place to visit in the SE area. It shows a different flavor of DC. I believe it s only open on the weekend. It s worth a visit. These pics are from the inside market. Enjoy!

Great and helpful vendors in a fantastic setting. The outdoor market has real dc flavor and the indoor vendors are institutions. Where else can you get a whole pig on a couple of hours notice?

This is nowhere near as big or diverse as Cleveland's West Side Market. A few places to buy food, but nowhere comfortable to sit to eat it. We bought lunch and snacks from one vendor and she wasn't particularly friendly. The neighborhood however is great, with lots of places where we could have (and should have) had a nice lunch.

I love too go over too Easter Market.... I've been going over there for years. My mother use to take me to Easter Market as a child.... My experience is always wonderful. It's always awesome too see some familiar faces and hopefully everyone is able to come back and set up their their booths and their stands

Interesting place to go and check out. I am not local so I didn't purchase anything but I like going to visit the markets. Lots of food inside with interesting crafts and wares on the exterior. Reminded me of a market I once visited in Sardenia. Today the had muscians outside playing Irish gigs.

Tried the brick sandwich for the first time. Delish! Toast, potatoes, egg, cheese and bacon...can't miss with this. Only drawback is cash only but they do have an ATM on the premises. So many small areas to check out....fruit, meats, cheeses, produce, baked goods, poultry and flowers. A one stop shopping experiencing for an indoor farmer's market.

Pleasant market area to visit. Vendors had a good selection of meats, seafoods, and produce as well as ready to eat and quickserve foods. One vendor had pig ears, feet, and chitterlings. Pleasant vibe both inside and outside. With a visit.

Really fun place to go on the weekend. I love the artists, especially the recyclers! We had a great breakfast of blueberry buckwheat pancakes in the market itself: very filling. You will want 3, but you can probably only eat 2. Cash only at the counter!

I was looking for a place to grab an early breakfast after my morning run and this fit the bill perfectly. Cute farmers and flea market, with a good variety of produce, prepared foods and other gifts/flea market items. The breakfast burrito I tried was excellent.

One of our favorite places in DC, near Capital Hill. Market Luncheon has freshly fixed fish & Crabcakes breakfasts, cooked to order right there for Brunch on Saturdays. It's worth the wait in a long line, and can sit down indoors to eat. Other markets include A bakery, Fresh Fish markets, and Deli Meats & Select Cheeses, And fresh Flowers Markets.

I'm from Chicago and I can say I absolutely love the feel of this area. You have multiple deli's and a bakery inside plus different vendors might sell their wares outside during the week. Come here to support local business and pick up some neat art.

Great place to find exotic food, for example alligator sausage and more, also for the lack of better word regular food. I am a big fan on supporting small businesses. I would rather pay a tad extra and not go to corporate America

A short walk from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas of DC will bring you to what DC is all about. Sundays are when you want to show up and experience the full flavor of Eastern Market. All the small vendors have their tents up selling their wares along with great in season fruits and veggies.

The local flavor is the draw here. You'll really get a great sense of the people and the community.

They have all.kinds of fresh produce and delicatessen like beef pastrami and roast beef. They even have chicken feet! It's a long building with doors to the outside on both sides. And they have a food.bar selling crabcakes, haddock and rock fish sandwiches, iced tea, French fries which we found all very good.

Quite underwhelming given all we'd heard about this place. Mostly meat purveyors and the restaurant there closes at 1pm (big frowney face). Worth stopping by on Saturday for the flee market.

Lots of great market vendors inside, and a fun farmers market/ craft market on Saturday and Sundays. The cheese monger is a must, just be prepared to spend half your paycheck on delicious savory morsels of cheese.

Lots of craft booth on the street on Weekends, a long with farm stands and food booths. Inside meat markets, bakery, produce, restaurant, gyoza stand and more. Large room at end with live music on weekends. Lively, fun, casual, family friendly.

Great atmosphere. I love walking through the market and getting a pastry at the bakery inside. I usually bring friends here when they visit from out of town. One day I'll come and buy some of the fresh meat or fish from the butchers.
