A fantastically diverse market that is especially worth a visit on weekends when the flea market is running next door. The prices can be high, but the quality is truly stellar - it's so fun to buy freshly made pastas, meat that is virtually still mooing, and vegetables grown just a few miles away. I also love all the local artisans in the section outdoors - it's wonderful to see DC-based artists getting so much business and appreciation. The little diner inside the market serves great BBQ and crab cake sandwiches, if you're willing to wait in line. There are a couple of other tasty food options outdoors, too - try the fresh pretzels!
