Great place to get really good food. We went very early on a Saturday morning and didn't have to compete with the crowd. Got some of the best cheese I've ever had here. They also have a little indoor food place that we ordered breakfast at and it was amazing. Just be aware that some of the places only take cash.

Easten Market is terribly crowded on weekends, but usually worth a visit anyway if you're in the area. Lots of vendor stalls to check out and be sure to try the Market Breakfast/Lunch. The breakfast sandwich there, "The Brick", is fantastic and surprisingly affordable. Also you can take a stroll around and just people watch (or dog watch, given the great number of adorable puppies you're likely to see exploring the outdoor market as well).

Honestly I was expecting more with all the good reviews and recommendation from TripAdvisor. If I were local here I would appreciate the market more with fresh butcher shops and veggie/fruit stands. Market Lunch has breakfast until 11am on weekdays and wanted to try their famous pancakes. Their lunch looked good but we didn't get to try.

If you are Black they are very predigest. The customer service is the absolute worst. They are blatant with it. If you don't know how to handle that type of behavior without getting like them, please stay away from eastern market.

The flea market was awesome and full of local made goods. The covered market was really cool but mostly good for buying uncooked foods you want to prepare yourself later. There was one food vendor in the covered market but multiple outside at the flea market.

My brother and I had so much fun wandering the Eastern Market on a cold Fall morning. There is a huge variety of things to shop for including art, textiles, hats, toys, jewelry, and an abundance of great produce, meats/fish, other foods and fresh flowers in the market hall. We enjoyed lunch from the vendors outside. I had an amazing shrimp and grits meal, and my brother had equally good Mexican food. Not to be missed!

This is one of my favorite places to eat breakfast in DC. The food is great and the community seating always allows me to meet new people. Definitely try the rock fish, crab cakes, pancakes, or my favorite is the jalapeno spicy grits.

Great place to get simple ingredients to cook delicious food. Fish counter, butchers, poultry, flowers, two vegetable markets, an Italian market with fresh pasta, a deli counter and a bakery. Outside, they host a flea market and a farmers markets on the weekend and sometimes during the week, and while those are great for variety there's no need to wait for them.

People ask me all the time where do I get my pants. There is a dude that I get the most comfortable pants ever from. He's part of the eastern market flea market every weekend. I'd post a picture but I dont want you to bite my style.

What a lovely place. Came here Saturday morning, spent around 2 hours. Had my breakfast and coffee here. Took some photos.

At the end of the market there are some small food corners who sell smoothies, donuts, coffee, berbq meats with authentic african spice, and lots of other thing. Try them.

A great place to find vendors to sell anything to everything. You have to be here to understand the rythym and sound of Eastern Market. Farmers outside and in side the market selling fresh and desirable goods to complete a great meal. Meat, fish, cheese, baked goods, fruits, vegetables; flowers to place on a table or give to a love one is sold right here!!!! Beautiful clothing, handbags, hats, African art and goods, etc. Meet with new artist and interesting people and get a glimpse of what's going on in Washington, D.C.. When I tell you it's a wonderful place to visit and feel the vibe, you get the feel of what this market has to offer. The market is open M-F, but the real experience is on the weekends.

The vendors here are hit or miss. The indoor produce has never impressed me, but the outdoor ones can have some good items - though I don't think its worth the trip, particularly with as parking unfriendly as the area is. The farmers market at Dupont is considerably better.

I visited this little flea market for the first time.
it was nice and in a good location but the subway.
most of the things they were selling were above flea market prices. it was rich people taste kind of thing mostly.

1 small table with seat the guy asked me $3000. i laughed i thought he was joking and he just walked away like i was being a bother to him...

but they do have some things tho, the painting was great even though the artist insisted that i do not take a picture of his arts. but oh well!

The venerable Eastern Market stands the test of time. Vendors are friendly and helpful, their wares are of superior quality, and the prices are surprisingly good. Visit on the weekend if you can, when there are expanded offerings. During the week, if you just need delicious fruit or excellent meat, they've got you covered.

Great place with a wide variety of things to choose from... was shopping specifically for African art and purchased a couple nice pieces for a very good price from the vendor. The indoor market had all types of meats, cheeses, desserts, e.t.c. that were fresh, with comparable pricing... loved it and the experience!!

The inside is quite small for a market, though there is a solid overall meat selection and a nice cheese shop. The farmers' market on the weekend, in my opinion gets far too mobbed with people, and it has a lot of arts, etc in addition to produce.
