Plants. Sculpture. Butterflies in the Spring. Children's garden with a miniaturize model of the Great Lakes (it is huge!) and a massive treehouse structure. The DaVinci Horse!

This is the place to go where are, nature, science, and history combine. Family friendly and well worth a membership if you are a local. It should be a "can't miss" if a visitor.

I was super excited to bring my grandkids after reading all the awesome reviews, but when we arrived, the picnic pavilion appeared to have disappeared and the grounds were quite soggy (given the unusal amount of thunderstorms, the latter is not a terrible surprise, but not having a table to eat lunch at was). But the worst part is that there is a major renovation happening and there was nothing about this on their website.

We will try again another time. But today was a washout.

The japanese garden and children's garden were awesome. I think those are my favorites. Didn't go to other ones due to the heat that day. There is tram you can go on and it will take you around.

A beautiful place to go. My grandkids loved it. I especially enjoy the butterflies in the Spring and the Christmas trees and the village at Christmas. The tram makes it so much easier to be able to see all of the sculptures if you have problems walking like I do.

Frederik Meijer Gardens is a spot that I think most people should take the time to visit. It's easy to say you'll spend a few hours there if you take your time appreciating all of the pieces and scenery there. They do have special exhibits that take place at various times so look for those. There is a lot of walking to be done but I do believe there are also carted tours as an option.

Saw a great concert by the Steve Miller Band and Marty Stuart! These guys can still deliver the goods! They get five stars.
Unfortunately the bouncer that Meijer Gardens sent around late in the concert, supposedly to clear the aisles that weren't even blocked, was a little over the top to say the least. It left a bad impression of Meijer Gardens with not just me but also the people around me. With a 75 year old rocker on stage and a peaceful crowd of mostly 50+ year old people, you don't need to bring out the heavy muscle.

This place is a bit of heaven on Earth. There is something for everyone, all ages, all interests, all abilities. If you have small children and live nearby, a membership here will save your sanity and make many fun memories in the children's garden, the farm garden and in exploration around the grounds. You will never be bored. Be sure wee ones have sunscreen and swimwear because there are water features that they will want to splash a bit in. If you don't have kids (or want a place to escape from yours), an individual membership grants you access to a lovely place to get away from it all without having to go too far from home. The Wege Nature Trail, the shade garden, the wetlands boardwalk, the glorious tropical conservatory, the sculpture walks, and of course the famous Japanese Garden, are all just a glipse of the treasures to enjoy here. No wonder this is listed as one of the "1,000 places to see before you die."

This place really has a unique vibe to it. Inside the building its phenomenal! All decorated with Christmas decor and provides a sense of relaxation! I've visited here many times as I have lived in Grand Rapids my whole life!! They are expanding even larger and I cannot wait to see what is in store! Overall amazing place to visit!!

An impressive collection of Flora from all over the globe awaits inside this giant glass building. In addition to many art exhibits, the butterflies bloom and fly free once per year, landing on the lucky few.

Although the sculpture garden and the different exhibits are interesting, what is even more interesting is the parking situation. I've been here multiple times, and never once have I gotten a good parking spot.

Unfortunately, it always seems as though the Gardens are under construction all year around.

The butterfly exhibit and the tropical room are must sees.

This place has been on my list of things to do for a long time. I am glad I finally took the time to check it out. I highly recommend this place. My daughter and I spent about three hours walking around and saw about 90% of what there is to see. There is an expansion under construction. I am planning to go back to see that too when it is finished.

LOVE THIS PLACE! There is a ton to do, if you are going make sure to plan at least a few hours. My favorite part is the beautiful Japanese Gardens, as well the Giant American horse of course.

This place is a must visit in Grand Rapids. They have something for everyone in the family. An awesome play area for kids, including a large water area for the hot days.

The Japanese Garden is a MUST. They have done a fantastic job creating a beautiful, peaceful and moving experience.

We are very fortunate to live within a few miles from this gem. FMG hosts many free music and art events and is an inspiring place for kids and adults to come an learn, appreciate art, and enjoy nature.

Beautiful place. Volunteer on the tram ride did an excellent job of relating the sculptures to the plantings. The Japanese Garden is magnificent and even our teens enjoyed the Children's Garden. Can't wait to return to explore the Gwen Frostic Woodland Garden, Lena Meijer's Farmhouse area and the natural areas visible from the boardwalk.

This garden has something for everything. Amazing gardens, great sculptures, fun children garden too. They have some special exhibitions and shows too. There was a Dahlia Show on the day we visited.

This is my first and last year as a member. I visited the "Gardens" today for the first time this year and what a huge disappointment. The place is usually lush with flowers and decorative plantings, but today it looked like Chernobyl. There are no flowers to welcome visitors on the drive to the parking lot. Extensive construction is taking place to the main building entrance and there is nothing to see but dirt and machinery. As for the trails through the Gardens, which are usually stocked with flowers and plantings many of which are identified with nameplates, there was virtually nothing. It looked like no one had touched the grounds this year. You can walk through many neighbors in the city and see more impressive landscaping. Admittedly, this is the first year since they've opened that it's appeared so unkempt and the quarantine obviously has had an impact, but it certainly wasn't worth the visit, especially for anyone coming in from out of town.

Very interesting and fascinating art pieces! Tram tour and guide were excellent and well worth the $4 fee. The Japanese garden was truly remarkable. Great way to spend the day as part of our vacation.

Beautiful! Loved the different vignettes each with its own collection of flowering plants. The Japanese garden (complete with a wedding party) was a favorite, as was the children's area & the farm!

It is one of my favorites places when I visit Grand Rapids.

The territory is large, and they are growing!
Indoor exhibitions have a tropical garden. Quite large, but not the largest in the US. There are other theme exhibitions. We've enjoyed watching the toy railroad with trains that are riding the whole day long.
There are also seasonal exhibitions. We saw the one with national costumes.

Outdoor exhibitions have a big playground for kids. There are lots of modern art sculptures. Not all of them are meaning-full but worth to take a look. Maybe you will be able to understand what they mean. :)

The gift shop is somewhat average. Similar to other places.

It is a place that you must visit in Grand Rapids.
