Unique store. We see the machine and hand work together. Great visit!
Very cool place to see in SF Chinatown. Be prepared for a line though because its a popular little place. Very small inside and they move things pretty quick so be on your toes. Was a little disappointed with the minimal amount of instruction with people coming in to make their fortune cookies. Everything felt a bit rushed and didn't really get to fully take in the experience but it was cool seeing how they do them.
Not only they are the best fortune cookies, they have accurate fortunes
Super neat place. The cookies are litterly hand made. Every single one. Also delicious to eat.
Very small and a bit hard to find but as a whole it's a interesting place to visit, besides they make chocolate fortune cookies.
This is one of those touristy spots, one of those places that is a must see. To be able to see how a fortune cookie is made is amazing they fold them right in front of you. You get the freshest cookies. It's tiny but amazing.
A must see in Chinatown. They are making the fortune cookies right in front of you. They have different flavors of cookies like chocolate, strawberry, green tea, even chocolate dipped fortune cookies.
I didn't know about this place before coming to SF, I just found it on Google Maps and decided to go. It was a great decision, the place is very interesting to look at and the fortune cookies were very good. The staff was very friendly and explained to us how they made the cookies. Overall very cool and interesting!
This place has amazing cookies. But you don't expect a big production of seeing the cookies being made. It is a small space and it is easy to feel rushed.
you can see the m being made & can do a custom Fortune - 20min stop
Absolutely loved the experience. Very friendly and kind
Super tasty and smell great, very small shop in a little side street. You can eat them fresh or write you own and they will put it in a cookie for you.
Love this place. It still has the original feel from years ago. The staff is nice and the smells wonderful. Try the cookies warm of the press!
This place was fun to go in. Prices are very fair and they give you more when you buy.
Awesome. Like most things in the area, tons of history and cool. Didn't mind waiting in line to see them make the cookies.
It's worth seeing if you go to Chinatown. They write your destiny anyway!
Lots of fun. Amazing how small and cramped it is. Great that you can make a custom cookie for a loved one. Enjoyed the tour
The ally is in is kinda of shady but all is good. Accessible all the way. Fortune Cookies are very tasty.
PSA: You have to pay $0.50 to take a picture of the fortune cookie production!! Bring cash!
Literally the most tasty fortune cookies I have ever had however.
As a tourist, you only need about 5 - 10 minutes here. Don't expect a tour or any info by the folks working here (after all, they are working); however, they will give you free cookies to try and they are yummy! It's a tight space and there can be lineups within the factory but those die down fast so don't be discouraged. It's really cool to see an all mechanical machine producing the cookies and how fast they get made! The people working there don't like you taking there pictures so please be mindful. Also, they sell packs of cookies (both big and small) that are pretty cheap.
FYI the entrance is not wheelchair friendly and the space inside is very tight.
Best cookies in town. They made the. In front of You. You can try them still warm
Great experience to see the first ever fortune cookie factory in the whole world. You can make your own 2 fortune in the cookies for $1.50 only. Really awesome to see the old ways on how to make fortune cookies. must visit place when you're in San Francisco!
Lots of history and delicious fortune cookies!! Always tasty and always fresh. It is impossible to avoid falling in love with the smell of baked dough.
Was cool watching them make the cookies. Bought a mixed bag of the disks which were delicious
Great place to stop by. It just fun when listen to the owner telling story about the shop history.
I love this place I have been coming here for years. The free sames are the best. Make sure to tip if you are taking indoor pictures.
A cool, quick and unique experience in Chinatown and the plus is you can customize the fortune paper and box for an affordable gift. Not on the main street, down the alley.
Very much hope this business stays open and can be supported by the community and tourists. We absolutely love fresh baked fortune cookies and the lovely people working there make it a pleasure to visit!
Finally saw how these are made, by grim faces with exceptional deftness and precision. As fortune cookies are more American than Chinese, it's not particularly historically significant but it is fun for a quick stop. Also they offer creating cookies with custom messages for you on the spot if you're interested.
Good assortment of Fortune cookies. My favorites are the ones they cook flat like chips. Chocolate dipped, strawberry, green tea flavored. Yummy
Incredible cookies just cooked. Very nice people in the shop. I loved this place and see how cookies were made
Cute little fortune cookie shop in the heart of SF Chinatown
What a quaint little place in Chinatown! Write your own messages on pieces of paper and the ladies will pop them in a cookie for you. 1 for $1 or 2 for $1.50!
Tasty samples while you wait in the queue as well!
It is just a small room where they make and sell fortune cookies. They have people making the cookies in the same room and they also give you free samples of the cookies. It is an experience that lasts less than 10 minutes but I very much enjoyed and would go there again.
A must go to understand how fortune cookies are made. They sell a dollar fortune cookie bags which is a great souvenir. The only downside is that you need to pay 50 cents for pictures.
Awesome friendly place! Such a rich culture and timely location. The fortune cookies are delicious!!
The best fortune cookies in the US. This is how the cookies used to be at Chinese restaurants.
This is one of the best places in China Town. It s quite an experience, and the cookies are so good, they re addictive!
Authentic interesting place. You can write your own fortune and hand it to them to put inside a cookie. Really great gift ideas here!
Soo neat to watch them make cookies. They are very nice. The cookies are really good. They gave me a warm cookie and it was really good .
The place is in a small alley. It might be not a big tourist point but fun to see.
WOW, It's very interesting to see how to make fortune cookie, I love high energy dessert, but still enjoy these beautifully decorated little snack.
Squished into this tiny spot but was glad we did. It was fun to watch the fortune cookies being made by hand.
This is a fun old shop down a picturesque alley where you can watch fortune cookies being made by hand. You can also hand write personal fortunes that will be added to your cookies on the spot.
Very very small shop where you see fortune cookies in the making. You can write your own wisdom message on a paper and hand it to the lady preparing your order. So you get to have a customized cookie to offer.
Leave a tip if you enter only for pictures.
The cookies are fine, but they are not the great thing, more than all the souvenir.
Very fun little shop where you can get all sorts of custom made fortune cookie treats though. Don't eat the paper like I did.
A bit smaller than I expected, but I enjoyed my time here.
Golden Gate Fortune Cookies is a small fortune cookie factory located in the heart of Chinatown. Its entrance is hidden in an alley, but it's a great find.
The small size can get packed rather quickly with tourists, but the staff takes their time answering every question & the lines move fast. Most people come to buy a few cookies and leave. Some want to make their own cookies. And there are novelty chocolate-dipped & sprinkled cookies for those with a sweet tooth. There's something for everyone here -- assuming that you're not on a low-carb diet.
4/5. Great experience. Must try if it's your first time in SF Chinatown. Don't find myself coming back too often since I need to avoid the sweets.
Historic place and worth a quick visit! They make various types of fortune cookies, including decorated and the manufacture is in the eyes of visitors. There is a sign saying that you must pay to take pictures, but I clicked and they didn't charge me
It is really a very nice place and cookies are a special gift because they can be personalized
We almost missed it. Its located in an alley-definitely hole in the wall kind of place. We walked in and saw 3-4 huge machines that make the cookie circles. Then they had people at the machines putting in a fortune and folding the fortune cookies. It was really neat!! Unfortunately, you have to pay to take a picture. My favorite part was the free samples of the cookie before it was folded. You can buy the cookies in bags for cheap(folded or unfolded). It's definitely worth checking out. They also make chocolate fortune cookies which are tasty as well.
It was meat to see how fortune cookies are made. The cookies make a good souvenir.
This is one of the best kept secrets in San Francisco. Go, see the cookies being made, then buy a fresh bag.
Small and quick. Cool if you need custom fortune cookies, or like twists on the fortune cookie (like chocolate coatings or art), but otherwise kinda meh. They charge 50 cents for photographs of their work.
I loved this place because I actually saw them making the Fortune Cookie. Even though it is a small place, it is a must see when you go to San Francisco.
One very interesting place to visit. I had no idea that the idea was originally Japanese! Or that 90% of the worlds fortune cookies come from San Francisco.
A quaint little shop offering delicious fortune cookies, you can even give the woman a custom fortune to add to a cookie!
Cookies were not very good. Fortunes were cut off or made no sense at all
Not worth the line. Go around the corner for $2. Same thing
Really cool spot to check out in SF. The personalized Fortune Cookies were a big hit for our family back home.
Very friendly people and I tasted a cookie hot off the press , words can not describe how good it was.
It may not look like much from the outside (or the inside) but this authentic, handmade fortune cookie factory (of 1) is the real deal. Try the free samples, which are cast offs of imperfect cookies. Buy some chocolate covered fortune cookies, or regular fortune cookies by the bag.
A landmark in Chinatown! The fortune cookies are rather delicious and the messages in the cookies interesting. However, the numbers failed me when I bought lottery with it
Nonetheless, an interesting place to visit where you can see first-hand how these cookies are made. You can even customize messages for your friends!
Just a very little small building in the middle of chinatown, but i had the chance to try one of these fortune cookies and it s funny to see how they re made.
Fun little tourist trap not far off the beaten trail.
Bags of fortune cookies go for about $8 for a bag of 35 pieces. With your choice being between standard fortunes & adult themed fortunes. You can also opt for an assortment of flavours to be mixed into the bag such as original, Matcha or Strawberry. Cool.
During peak hours where tourists buses arrive to drop passengers off, the queues get insane.
Staff are extremely good, and will provide free samples right off the hot press without question.
have your fortune told to you by opening one of these cookie
Really small place but cool. Kids were able to write their own fortune and place it in a cookie. It's in an alley but really easy to find.
