Very cool place to see in SF Chinatown. Be prepared for a line though because its a popular little place. Very small inside and they move things pretty quick so be on your toes. Was a little disappointed with the minimal amount of instruction with people coming in to make their fortune cookies. Everything felt a bit rushed and didn't really get to fully take in the experience but it was cool seeing how they do them.

This is one of those touristy spots, one of those places that is a must see. To be able to see how a fortune cookie is made is amazing they fold them right in front of you. You get the freshest cookies. It's tiny but amazing.

I didn't know about this place before coming to SF, I just found it on Google Maps and decided to go. It was a great decision, the place is very interesting to look at and the fortune cookies were very good. The staff was very friendly and explained to us how they made the cookies. Overall very cool and interesting!

As a tourist, you only need about 5 - 10 minutes here. Don't expect a tour or any info by the folks working here (after all, they are working); however, they will give you free cookies to try and they are yummy! It's a tight space and there can be lineups within the factory but those die down fast so don't be discouraged. It's really cool to see an all mechanical machine producing the cookies and how fast they get made! The people working there don't like you taking there pictures so please be mindful. Also, they sell packs of cookies (both big and small) that are pretty cheap.
FYI the entrance is not wheelchair friendly and the space inside is very tight.

Finally saw how these are made, by grim faces with exceptional deftness and precision. As fortune cookies are more American than Chinese, it's not particularly historically significant but it is fun for a quick stop. Also they offer creating cookies with custom messages for you on the spot if you're interested.

What a quaint little place in Chinatown! Write your own messages on pieces of paper and the ladies will pop them in a cookie for you. 1 for $1 or 2 for $1.50!

Tasty samples while you wait in the queue as well!

It is just a small room where they make and sell fortune cookies. They have people making the cookies in the same room and they also give you free samples of the cookies. It is an experience that lasts less than 10 minutes but I very much enjoyed and would go there again.

This is a fun old shop down a picturesque alley where you can watch fortune cookies being made by hand. You can also hand write personal fortunes that will be added to your cookies on the spot.

Very very small shop where you see fortune cookies in the making. You can write your own wisdom message on a paper and hand it to the lady preparing your order. So you get to have a customized cookie to offer.
Leave a tip if you enter only for pictures.

A bit smaller than I expected, but I enjoyed my time here.

Golden Gate Fortune Cookies is a small fortune cookie factory located in the heart of Chinatown. Its entrance is hidden in an alley, but it's a great find.

The small size can get packed rather quickly with tourists, but the staff takes their time answering every question & the lines move fast. Most people come to buy a few cookies and leave. Some want to make their own cookies. And there are novelty chocolate-dipped & sprinkled cookies for those with a sweet tooth. There's something for everyone here -- assuming that you're not on a low-carb diet.

4/5. Great experience. Must try if it's your first time in SF Chinatown. Don't find myself coming back too often since I need to avoid the sweets.

Historic place and worth a quick visit! They make various types of fortune cookies, including decorated and the manufacture is in the eyes of visitors. There is a sign saying that you must pay to take pictures, but I clicked and they didn't charge me

We almost missed it. Its located in an alley-definitely hole in the wall kind of place. We walked in and saw 3-4 huge machines that make the cookie circles. Then they had people at the machines putting in a fortune and folding the fortune cookies. It was really neat!! Unfortunately, you have to pay to take a picture. My favorite part was the free samples of the cookie before it was folded. You can buy the cookies in bags for cheap(folded or unfolded). It's definitely worth checking out. They also make chocolate fortune cookies which are tasty as well.

Small and quick. Cool if you need custom fortune cookies, or like twists on the fortune cookie (like chocolate coatings or art), but otherwise kinda meh. They charge 50 cents for photographs of their work.

It may not look like much from the outside (or the inside) but this authentic, handmade fortune cookie factory (of 1) is the real deal. Try the free samples, which are cast offs of imperfect cookies. Buy some chocolate covered fortune cookies, or regular fortune cookies by the bag.

A landmark in Chinatown! The fortune cookies are rather delicious and the messages in the cookies interesting. However, the numbers failed me when I bought lottery with it

Nonetheless, an interesting place to visit where you can see first-hand how these cookies are made. You can even customize messages for your friends!

Fun little tourist trap not far off the beaten trail.

Bags of fortune cookies go for about $8 for a bag of 35 pieces. With your choice being between standard fortunes & adult themed fortunes. You can also opt for an assortment of flavours to be mixed into the bag such as original, Matcha or Strawberry. Cool.

During peak hours where tourists buses arrive to drop passengers off, the queues get insane.

Staff are extremely good, and will provide free samples right off the hot press without question.
