It's a tiny shop where a woman makes the fortune cookies. Not really a factory. Nevertheless they are delicious and cheap to buy and they also give out a handful of fresh cookies to taste. You can buy them in different flavours too. It's worth a visit if you have some free time whilst in SF

Expected cooler place to see and meh...nope. small whole in the wall that only fits 5 people and you see hand made fortune cookies, then they press for you to hurry and ask how many bags of cookies you want to buy...too pushy and I didn't buy any. Sorry not what I thought it was going to be

They give you free warm unfolded cookie while you wait in (a short)line. Small place with lots of Klay Thompson references, 5-minute visit max unless you wanna buy stuff. Must-see if you're in Chinatown.

This is such a fun hole in the wall! You come in and there's just a small amount of room to stand with the other tourists as you get confronted with a nice lady handing you free cookie samples. Its great to even watch the ladies making fortune cookies by hand. Just the cookies though no fortunes haha. Thankfully they take plastic as I was out of cash. I'm not sure how much it was but they charge you a small amount for the bag, but its much better than the 10cent bags elsewhere as you can see in my pictures so well worth it for me! Ps it is down the alley with a yellow sign, so look around for it.

I was taking my 8th grade class on a walking tour of Chinatown. We a from a rural area and the city was so new and exciting to them. As I started down Ross Alley some of them asked if I knew what I was doing but then they saw a line of people coming out of a doorway and smelled the aroma of warm cookies. They were delighted to visit the little factory and purchase crunchy freshly made cookies.

Instagrammable yes. Worth the cost not really. Best bang for the buck is to buy a bag of "coins" cookies instead of fortune cookies since they use the same batter to make anyways. Serves as a great snack on the road. Chocolate dipped ones were not that great tasting in my opinion.

Every time we visit San Fran we plan our trip to make sure we visit this place. It is a little hole in the wall, but they have definitely grown over the years. They use to only have vanilla and chocolate Fortune cookies, but they have now added strawberry and green tea flavors. Strawberry is my favorite!! I definitely recommend it. There may be a line out the door but it usually goes pretty fast. You can see the machines and how they make the cookies once you're inside.

Tiny little shop off a Chinatown side street. Popped in to see "How it's made" and warmed ourselves by the machines. Ever been fed unfolded fortune cookies hot off the press? They're delicious! Customize a fortune cookie or grab a bag of the X-rated ones. They're very mild but still worth the laugh!

Unimpressive. Local guides take you to make a quick tourist dollar. Seriously people its one lady wrapping dough around a hook to form a fortune cookie. Do yourselves a favour and give it a big miss.

It was an experience to see the making of fortune cookies, but not what I anticipated. Very fast glance and that was it. I thought I would see the dough, the cutting of the baked goods, etc. Would like to have seen the whole process.

A pasta, it will be that it is historical, but it is a tiny "factory" (it is a shop with a cookie machine) cookies at a gold price and they charge you if you want to take a picture of the place.

Located in an alley of Chinatown, the origin of fortune cookies, they have not been reformed, so you can see the workforce live and the speed with which they do it. You can create your own messages and put it in cookies for give it as a souvenir in a very cool box. Step you eat a biscuit that is given to you for the purchase of this.

It was fascinating to watch the process of manufacturer of fortune cookies using machines from the last century. The process of making, cooking and folding the cookies with their message is very quickly achieved. I grabbed a bag of cookies. They have messages that range from XXX through funny through prophetic - you choose the type when you buy. The cookies themselves tasted well, like fortune cookies. They're remarkably like a waffle cone in texture and flavour. The store entrance is very narrow and cluttered. You would not get a wheel chair in there. #LetsGuide

A SF must see for the tourist or the local looking for their fortune cookie fix. What I would love to see is a bit more organization and information about how they are made.. and the lore around the tradition.

I almost missed this spot as it doesn't have any large signs or anything outside of it and it's in an alleyway. It's a small shop, but it's cute and charming, and interesting to watch the cookies being made!

You will find tons of good health, wealth, & fortune here....and you can even customize the saying inside of the cookie if you wish. You may even order the special XXX versions for your naughty friends. Do not worry, maybe the charming Chinese ladies may not judge you. Just remember to leave a tip for your pics. It helps to have a Chinese translator with you to get the "real" story. For some reason, the Fortune Cookie variants are yummy....so buy bags of each kind. Since they make great gifts...get lots...otherwise your fortune will unfortunately go right into your gut.

Awesome place to visit in China Town that you can get unique and custom fortune cookies from! Fresh off the machines, cool to see the process, and so many varieties! Down a sketchy alley way that can easily be overlooked, but Google Maps will guide you correctly.

I love China Town in SF! It is a great experience. As you walk the streets you can feel immersed in this beautiful culture. People walking and enjoying their favorite treats at their favorite market. You can see people all ages. The diversity is beautiful.
As we walked to the museum, we enjoyed of the colorful vegetables and fruits outside the stores.
Once we got to the street where the fortune cookie museum was we realized how lovely the tiny museum is. It was lovely to see the way they are made and learn about the history. I highly recommend you don t only buy one bag of coins but a bunch as they are delicious. My son was able to learn a little more about their culture. the owner was super kind. And you can experience the way they do it and even create your own. They had fresh warm cookies for you.
If you have kids they will be fascinated.
