The campground and staff were very nice and respectful. Down fall, sites with water, a 50 foot water hose is needed, spigots are too far from site. A plus, site were very very spacious and we'll maintained. Park was very well maintained. Bath house was very clean and spacious, handicapped shower was very nice. Plenty of showers, and stalls.
The park is small and average. Sites very short. Good for overnight. A little overpriced.
Great place. Beach is fun , lots of trash from river at times.
Its very beautiful there even had it decorated for halloween
Seems to be a very pretty place. We stayed at the campground adjacent. It seems odd that the middle of July a lot of the stuff in the park is closed.
We went to the pool and it was great. Tje restrooms are clean and they have a nice snack bar.
Its changed alot in 30 years, I went there on a 8th grade school trip. It was nice to get to go back. Not as busy as back then.
Awesome history and stop on our way to TN. Pretty great hearing about the history and watching them make stuff. Nice place to stop and tour and picture back in time. The history channel put out a great show about this Fort and the history of it. I suggest watching and touring the place. Pretty cool place we recommend. Our kids enjoyed it.
Real neat place to learn & see how they live before Electricity !?!
We had a live me reunion with our team DF family and it was awsome
Beautiful recreated fort. Historical actors were very friendly and extremely informative.
Great fort to go visit. There is a wonderful Halloween event in this park every year. The whole campground is decorated for the occasion. You can pay a fee and drive through to see all the camper's site all decorated. A lot of the sites are really spend a lot of money on their decorations. It's a must see if you like Halloween.
Great spot with all you need for an overnight/long stay. Had a wonderfully friendly conversation with a Gentlemen taking care of the grounds. Perfect.
Just ur typical state park but very friendly and clean.
Beautiful State Park, looks like it would be a great place to camp. The staff doing the reenactment appeared to be put out by the visitors, they were talking with each other and if we did not ask questions they did not offer any explanation of what or how things were done during that time period. Disappointed in the staff.
Real nice, big campsites and trees. Downside... water risers in back are far apart, we had 50ft of hose and still 3ft short, had to buy another hose. And they want you to pay for wifi. Host are real nice.
I spent an amazing morning at the Fort Boonesborough State Park today: the atmosphere of the historic period, the friendliness of interpreters and the stories they shared all that has definitely captured me. I can see how this place can be a great destination children, their parents and really any age group. I was captivated by the richness of details in the small log houses - the skins on the walls, rough furniture, wooden or earth floors, depending on the time period it represented Definitely a great place to visit if you want to bring life to the history of the early settlers.
Very interesting place to visit. It's not expensive and a couple of hours is all you need. Make sure the weather isn't gonna be rainy before you go.
Lots of potential here. We enjoyed ourselves but things could have been better. We camped for two nights and our site large and wooded and private. However our site was less than 20 yards from a major road and we had the sound of trucks and motorcycles all night. The pool was shut down due to "mechanical issues" for both days. We went to the Fort and it's cool, but pretty expensive . Overall a good park but expensive for what you get.
The beach is closed and the grounds are poorly maintained also the bathrooms are terrible.
Love the history of this place. I'm big on American history.
Fantastic fort re-creation within walking distance of a nice campground.
Very interesting to see and feel how our ancestors lived life every day .
I'm only giving the park a 4 because we didn't have the opportunity to see much of it as we arrived far latter than we had planned. As for what we did see the campground and it's facilities where clean well kept and pleasant the staff was gracious and attentive and it was an overall pleasant experiance.
We enjoyed our visit there today. Wish there had been more exhibits open there today. Will return for another visit.
Overall the park was okay. The trails were nice but some of the facilities could use some work.
It was really cool. I enjoyed walking around and looking at all of the olden days techniques. It would have a little bit better if they would have had a presentation on Daniel Boone. They have throwing axes that you can throw.
One of the best places I have been to with the most information about the past war
Visited on May 9, 2015. We had a great time. My teenage children thought it was the best attraction we saw while in Kentucky. The actors were very knowledgeable about the history of the fort and era.
Always clean and neat. Restrooms are kept very clean and well stocked. In our recent visit, neither hand air dryers worked. When told, the office sent out workers to replace them. Halloween is their big event/holiday. People reserve spots a year in advance come and compete for best decorated site. Coupled with a fine car show (2nd weekend of month) it is a great time to visit. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Great state park.
Fort part was closed but some grills were open. Peaceful place to be
Such an historic park, the fort is well worth the time and money and we appreciated the military discount. If you want a peaceful, historic afternoon, go to Boonsboro State Park!
We visited for the first time for the Christmas celebration. I can not say enough wonderful things about all volunteers and interpreters at the Fort. It was absolutely beautiful with a perfect combination of education and fun!
As a Kentucky native I m ashamed to say this was my first trip to Fort Boonesboro. I grew up in south eastern Kentucky and pride myself in knowing Daniel Boone s history. But this park really helped tie all the loose ends together for me. It was fun to see bits and pieces of information I d learned at other parks like Cumberland Gap National Historic Park and Blue Licks State Park come together here at Boonesboro.
The staff at the park really made my experience a great one. The authenticity of their clothing and their knowledge about the trades they were performing made me feel like I was truly experiencing life in the 18th century. They even interacted with us and gave us a hands on experience of how everything in the fort was made. From linens, to yarn, to soaps, iron, and wood-working, touching and holding these items really made me appreciate the perseverance of early pioneers in Kentucky.
We also visited the original site where he fort was and couldn t have been more impressed. Beautiful land, a view of the river, and a playground for kids (accompanied by big and beautiful shade trees, which we found were great for outdoor napping), made for a family environment great for a picnic or just a fun day out in the sunshine.
We loved this state park. We ve already marked dates in our calendar to come back for all the events that occur throughout the seasons. 5 stars all the way.
State parks need sewer hookups. Charge a little more for it.
They drive way too fast through the campground. Even if the speed limit is 15, there are KIDS AROUND. Slow down.
And passerbys don't wave half the time. Never to a campground that wasn't friendly.
Nice place for a picnic, romantic day or just a dog walk.
Visited back in 2005. It was a very nice place. It was like walking back in time. I loved it.
This is a very nice park for young children; as it was ripe wth them, I assume this to be the truth. Drive with extreme caution
One of the best state parks I have ever visited. The campground is second to none. Nice pool.
This is a memorial to the beginnings of our country and the state of Kentucky. It's a beautiful park, but some areas need more care. All in all a must see when you come to Kentucky or live here. Also recommend Hall's on the river, nearby, for good food.
Great camping experience, however there needs to be an investment in more full hook-ups throughout the park.
Campground has very friendly staff and very clean bathhouse. Sites are short and narrow, with little to no extra parking space for towing vehicles. It s next to a quarry so lots of heavy truck traffic and sound, beginning around 5 a.m. Very fun Halloween decorations all through the campground.
Halloween Fest is a fun time at the park. It books up fast after each event for the next year. Kentucky Blood Center has a blood drive sponsored by the park on the Saturday of that weekend
So much things to do nice and clean have a lot of fun things to do lot of history and close to the the KY riv
Put in our canoe into the ky river. Great place clean
Just a quick stop to see the original site and Fort Bonesborough. A good reminder of American history.
This was such a calm, relaxing state park. It should be a 5 star but a water main was busted and we had to dry camp. The park did give an option to cancel BUT we wanted a white Christmas.
Fantastic! Spring Trade Days was very educational and enjoyable!
Loved the park. The Elam 101 year reunion was held there August 31 again. Great facilities.
Too bad the museum was closed. The campground was nice. Staff was surley
Security problem. Someone stole from my campsite. Too many long term semi rssidents. Most states have a 14 day limit. Some campers looked like they lived there.
Had been a great experience in the past, however there is limited staff right now and a lot of the buildings are closed down due to COVID-19 and social distancing.
Clean bathrooms and showers, pricey for primitive tent camping. Also, there were trucks engine-braking on the nearby road all night; bring ear plugs. A misunderstanding with staff at check-in led us to being barked at by a campground manager for having a campfire. Instead of acknowledging the misunderstanding, she continued to be accusatory and rude. I'd camp here again in a pinch, but i wouldn't plan it as a destination.
Really enjoyed seeing the fort. Some of the artisians. Wish I would have had more time.
Very educational and fun! We took our nephew to the fort and the experts there will guide you through wait life in the late 1800s was about!
Great place to take my family camping, we really enjoyed our weekend camping trip
We enjoyed the Halloween dive thru... all the campers did an amazing effort to decorate and show true Halloween spirit... the grandkids had a great time...
A little loud due to proximity to quarry. Great amenities, and the pool is tremendous, though you have to pay, even if you camp there. The fort itself is well done and informative, kids loved it.
