The state park itself is really beautiful, and there's a few really interesting things to do. The pool, however, I feel like I need to tattle on a bit. First, we chose not to bring a lot of cash with us to the park, we just weren't comfortable - as I'm sure many campers aren't. The pool has no card reader, so we had to drive to the Winchester Walmart, buy a pop to get cash back, then drive back. By that time there were no more parking spaces available and we had to park in the grass. We had our one year old with us, so we hung out at the baby pool, which was actually pretty nice, except several children did not have appropriate water diapers on, and no one seemed to be enforcing these rules, as all the staff were focused on the main pool. I didn't want to be "that mom" so I just tried to ignore it and hoped there weren't any #2 accidents. All in all, we had a decent experience, but guys it's 2018. Get a card reader. If a truck can sell sloppy joes on the side of the road and handle a card reader, the state should be able to provide you with one.

I would have given a higher rating if so many of the buildings had not been closed. Also, the man at the candle cabin said, just trying to wake up from reading a book. Not making any candles today, too much trouble! I guess reading on his phone is more fun.

Bathroom wasn t cleaned the entire weekend, people speed through the campground at all hours. Bums are living in dirty bath house so you can t take a shower. Staff is incredibly rude, very unfortunate because this is a nice park

Fort Boonesborough is a great park situated on the Kentucky River near a river lock. It was a popular beach spot with bathhouse, snack shop, gift shop, etc. in the old days but water quality has changed that. The highlights now are a public swimming pool, a popular campground with mini-golf, a historic village (with fee and different operating hours) showing the traditional trades and way of life of the period, etc. There are lots of nice spots for family picnics and we ve traditionally had family reunions here. Lots of room for families to spread out. We ve also been there when they were having RV shows, etc. Nice shared park space in the area. Just inconvenient enough to the cities to stay more peaceful.

Most of the fort is closed. Not even half is opened. 6 employees working and 2 were taking money in the gift shop. These women were kinda put off ish. Both times my family of 5 had interactions with these women. Once upon admisson, second during purchasing items from the gift shop. These women stood with their backs to us untill they were done talking under their breath to each other.

Took a day trip here. It's a nice park. The campgrounds looked nice. There is a pool on site. The fort is reconstructed on a new site, made to look like it did in the 1780's. It's very authentic. Admission is a little high, that is the reason for the 4 instead of a 5.

We visited several years ago while vacationing in KY and still talk about what a great experience our visit was! We are planning on going back! Great recreation of frontier life, the interpreters were fantastic!

Stopped in and took a Sunday stroll through this lovely place and really enjoyed the day! The kids enjoyed themselves and they talked about their experience the entire car ride home!

Informative, interesting, and unique. Definitely a day date you will enjoy!

This is a great vacation site for all ages. If your passing thru madison county ky then stop by the state park and walk around and take a tour of the Daniel Boone fort at Fort boonesborough.

The campground was full but mostly with nice folk. One bad bunch of apples setting off loud fireworks one evening but it was taken care of. The fort is a nice piece of history with very friendly informative people working there.

This is a key part of the the history of Kentucky. Here you can learn the day to day life of the pioneers as well as participate in some of the activities. There is a Daniel Boone museum as well as a fort museum. Here the staff will show you how the pioneers made yard, wove blankets, made candles, blacksmithing, and medicines. It's very affordable and very entertaining. I must see for every history buff or Kentuckian.

We've been to Ft. Boonesborough several times, and its always been a wonderful experience -- particularly for the kids. It is a friendly and intimate environment, and the historical figures are so well-informed and generous with their knowledge. Please don't pay attention to some of the other negative reviews; not representative of what this place is all about at all.

Very nice, clean, family oriented park. Sites have plenty of space in between. Lots of activities for children. Swimming pool off site next to RV park with discounted price for registered guest at RV park. Museum quarter mile from campground. Would definitely return.

My pictures are from the park. Both my grandchildren liked the park. My grandson was more impressed with the actual fort. There wasn't many people on hand that day. It was so hot. Most of the people were friendly except for the lady by the garden. My grandchildren were trying to talk to her and I asked a question and she was just kinda rude with her answers. We didn't let her ruin our day though. We didn't get there in time to really take our time. We rushed through everything. We will definitely go back.

We come every year for Labor Day weekend. We were sad that the lantern lighting and hayride were canceled for this year. However, this is always a nice clean park and we will continue to visit!

Recommend. Enjoyed our visit and walk through Fort Boonesborough KY today. Make sure you start by watching the introduction video. Interesting artifacts to view in the buildings. Some buildings had period-dressed guides willing to answer questions, but otherwise didn t tell you or demonstrate very much. The blacksmith however did an excellent demonstration.

Fort boonesborough is a great campground. We also loved visiting the fort. Our grandson 9, loved all the activities including the pool, the putt putt golf, hiking around and all the activities offered by the park.

Nice campground. Some power issues with electricity. It's a "no frills" campground. No pool or lake. There is a county pool/water park within walking distance and the Kentucky River is within walking distance, however. Clean park and old, but as clean as they can be showers/bath houses. A few full hook ups, mostly are electric/water with 50 or 30 amp. About 200 spots I would guess. Mostly level, some look to be very unlevel, so I would check out my spot first. Staff are very friendly. The actual Fort is about a 1/4 mile away and is very neat. They dress up in period attire and show how life was like.. churn butter, weaving , making candy, etc. Good for all ages.

Campsites, are ok but does not say anything about the cleanliness of the site. It's amazing that people have such disrespect for other people in thinking some one else will pick it up, especially when there is a dumpster 150' away. I spent 15 minutes picking up trash in just my site.

Pretty fun place. I prefer when there are events going on like the blacksmith so I'd probably only go back during an event but even during the middle of the week there were actors who were in the different places making candles and soap so that was nice.

Very accurate depiction of Fort Boonesbourough. Feel as though you step back into time as you walk around fort and hear about life in 18th century from devoted reenactors. Check out site of original fort nearby in state park. Enjoy!!
