I did this for about a year and overall i enjoyed it. One teacher i had didnt explain the curriculum well and it was very hard. But the teacher I want to shoutout is Mr. Archard!!! He is the best World History and Civics teacher in the world!!! He is so nice and works well with the student. He always made me laugh amd would always help me if I had a question. He let me take my time on quizzes over the phone and was cery patient. I want to say thank you Mr. Archard!!! - Brianna Kemper 7th

I love this! I was smart enough to start it before Christmas break and Thanksgiving break so I get lots of time to work on the course. Because I am a independent student and I work on my priorities to make time to complete my course. I don't understand why there are so many 1 stars, It is at your own pace! The class I took let me choose between 2 paces/schedules I chose the normal pace and i have like 16 weeks to complete it, to be honest I was behind a week work but I quickly caught up and my course has 2 "vacation weeks" to catch up! The suicide and depression reviews I hope you feel better but that's not really FLVS's fault, you are supposed to do this course by yourself and some people can't learn like that so online classes won't work for them AND if you feel so stressed to a certain extent then online classes are not for you and you should look for another alternative. My teacher is great and i love how she will check up on me and ask if i have any questions. I am having a great first experience with FLVS!
Flvs is a good place to get your online credit graduation requirement. It is only good IF you chose an elective like Parenting Skills or Psychology that I took. For your online requirement you need to only complete and PASS one course. It can be an honors core class or just a plain elective that you are interested in. I suggest that you take one elective class if you are a high school student getting this done. This will just make things easier and focus on one online class while you can finish homework or a project. The teachers I had are nice and respectful. They will be on your side for anything if you follow up on the assignments weekly and be on time and prepared for your DBA'S. (Discussion Based Assessment). So to add all things up, just take one elective class to pass the online graduation part. Do not take core classes on here because you have to read a lot on the screen and will hurt and bother your eyes. And you can get easily distracted on the computer while you are reading. Even I was distracted a few times when I got tired of reading one of my elective courses and would push it off. DO NOT PUSH THIS OFF! My advice is too just get it done and do your best and stay focused. Hope this helps you whoever is reading this. Just get the work done and you will be fine..
this is the worst thing i ve ever experienced, i do not recommend this. do not put your child through this torture. i have gotten diagnosed with severe depression due to flvs. some teachers are alright but some are absolutely terrible. they should go out of business
I could not contact the flvs staff. I had forgotten my password from last summer so i wanted to give them a quick call to ask for it. However, i waited for more than 10 minutes and no one was answering. It was around the late afternoon, so I knew I should've gotten a response. I really wonder whether people work there :T
It's really more of a hassle than its worth. My daughter is taking all honors courses at her regular high school, in addition to taking college courses. We allowed her to take FLVS because we were under the impression that she could work at her own pace. THIS IS NOT TRUE! She was harassed while at school and I was often contacted while working by her teacher about the weekly assignment. This was quite frankly a horrible experience and is not a good option for busy high school students. If we could do it over again I would most definitely tell her to stay away. She has been so stressed because of this class.
FLVS is a school. While reading through some of the comments it saids that the courses give you to much work but that is not true at all. You do get to work at your own pace and honesty 3 assignments a week is not that much. The teachers are nice, I like the way it is organized, and I am going to sign up to do more class here.
I like FLVS it keeps me motivated and i got my Drivers Ed done assignments done and i will be doing the DBA soon hopefully. Mr.laing is a great teacher and is very good at replying to me when i am asking questions and he is also helping with not getting me to stressed when it comes to the DBA although I have anxiety about talking to people so i hope the DBA is great and i learn even more and how he would answer the questions during the time we are talking. But another thing is calling the teacher multiple time in a day to get through to them but that is all. But this is a good site for getting a credit to graduate soon!
The website looked and controlled like a 5th grade teacher with the function stickers still on their laptop made it. Loop holes, multiple inboxes and the scattering of unmarked buttons added to the confusion and frustration. The course was also very hard to follow. The assignments were very time consuming and indecisive on what it wanted you to do, a lot harder than a regular classroom class. NOT RECOMMENDED. Be careful on taking a course, if you need to do an online class to pass school, stick to a very easy class.
I enjoyed the course, i enjoyed my teacher, the user interface is a tad difficult to pick up at first but easy once you get the hang of it, but I would not recommend FLVS for someone that isn't good with deadlines or keeping up with school, or someone that's hesitant about online learning.
This school used too be nice, helping me soar to being a grade ahead. Teachers were nice and you could actually get help from their help website. If only it could last into 9th grade.
Common Core standards have recently been implemented into courses like Algebra, which means a large amount of pointless information being rushed at you, now juggle this with teachers who seem to give you a failing grade for missing the one little thing in your assignment and you have the courses of today.
Now you also need help from Google, as the help site and the actual lessons won't even give you any help! I understand 9th grade is much harder, but all of the courses follow this template now.
This school used to be nice, but now be prepared for FCAT like questions, looking for help on Google, and teachers who believe you should be able to resubmit an assignment until you reach 100%, which in today is near impossible.
this virtual school has stressed my whole family out and we dont have a summer break.. my math teacher doesn't give us encouraging words. we are still doing school till this day july 13
Flvs is terrible. NEVER enroll in a class because I am currently taking two and it is extremely stressful for me. Teachers want 5 assignments in two days and i just cannot handle it. I am already taking a boat load of AICE classes at school and putting this on top is super stressful. Teachers on here are also NOT understanding and will push to kick you out. I was also kicked out of Flvs for two months during the summer in which the website continued to tell me I was no longer enrolled and "was not a user" when I signed in. I was also kicked out of one of my classes and was not allowed back in. I am graduating early and Flvs has been very difficult for me. I do not suggest it.
Mr. Gaines, I wanted to take a moment to let you know, how pleased my husband and I are with Mr Larry. He taught my son, Adam, a physical education class. He was very involved. He took the time to contact my son, when he felt he was going off course, when that wouldn't work, he contacted us. This shows us he cares. He actually went through the trouble, to watch a video of my son pitching, and give us feed back. How cool is that?
FLVS Full Time administration needs to go. Santana the "Instructional Leader" lied to us numerous times. She tells you what you want to hear to get you off the phone, then later changes her story and tells you there is nothing she can do. Horrible role models for our high school students. Not to mention it is nearly impossible to get them to respond. You would think they would want to set up their students for success, instead the administration is only looking out for the adminstrations best interests. The main focus is to enroll as many students as possible, no matter what the cost. Teachers have far to many students to be effective
FLVS is a great program for students who want to complete their education in tight or inflexible schedules. It is a great home schooling system. The teachers are very friendly, the service is efficient, and the program's education is rich. All you need to do is have the discipline, and effort to complete the assignments.
To ALL KIDS AND PARENTS reading this, DO NOT put your student in Florida Virtual School! Most of the teachers are kind, but that's not the problem. One of Florida Virtual School's top motto is: Work at your own pace! NOT AT ALL! You have to do three assignments a week, oh that seems easy right? NOPE! Depending on the assignment in which I found most are confusing and difficult actually take me up to four HOURS. Okay but its only three assignments per week right? Yes, but PER CLASS! So personally for me I am required to take Language Arts, Math, Science, and History so in all per week that's 12 LONG assignments per week. If you DO NOT complete the 3 assignments required per class per week then your teacher can withdraw you from the course if you don't work on that pace. So the whole work at your own pace DOES NOT APPLY. As a student I joined this year going into it thinking this will be awesome, I can go at my own pace with no idiots in a classroom to distract me. I have now been working my butt off the whole Summer because of a huge complication with my first science teacher who started to delete my work when I ended up getting withdrawn. PLEASE FOR YOUR SAKE DO NOT DO FLORIDA VIRTUAL SCHOOL!
My son has been doing FLVS for the past three years and absolutely loves it. The teachers, for the most part, have all been encouraging and positive! They have always been prompt not only with feedback but grades as well. I wish there were more electives available for homeschooled students; but the teachers are wonderful! Mrs. Ostrander is an asset to FLVS and education as a whole. She is very supportive and encouraging, and this is so important especially to students who struggle or try and take the lazy way out. Her inspiring words have helped my son focus on his strengths and to understand that his weakness is an oppotunity to learn, not that it is a failure. I am so glad that FLVS provides outstanding teachers like her to the online students. I cannot thank her enough for her optimism and her love of teaching (especially 8th graders!) that reflects in her communications with them. She is truly amazing!
As a highly motivated and determined student, I decided to take a geometry course over the summer to keep my mind active and challenge myself. The sign up was fast and easy, and the course started around the time I requested it to. Things were going well during the first two sections, however, half-way through the first segment of the course, I started having trouble understanding the lessons. I managed to get through the troublesome chapter and continue on, but it seemed as though all of the difficult and more in-depth concepts were packed into only that portion of the lessons. Needless to say, the course was poorly planned. After moving past the difficulties with those lessons, I continued on (to what seemed like a step backwards) into a much easier and quicker chapter. I was grateful for the break from furious, full-paged note taking, but, again, brought back to my thoughts about the poorly designed lessons. And as if these troubles weren't enough, midway through the entire course, during the time of the first overall segment exam, there was a site-wide holiday that lasted for 8 days. All of the instructors, including my own, would not answer any calls, texts, or e-mails. This wouldn't have been a problem if I didn't need a password from my virtual teacher (who was the best part of this experience so far) for both the end of chapter and overall exam. This unconventional delay, which was announced in an untimely fashion, completely threw me off course and caused quite a commotion. So much for trying to excel this summer!
I am using flvs over my own will i dont want to use it im being forced to and i feel like i'm doing prison over a computer, literally. There is really no point in online school when nobody really learns. I have been using flvs for 2 and a half years already and I hate it with all my heart.
STAY AWAY from the FLVS.net website !! Not only is the service they provide poor, but they REFUSE to UN-Enroll or Delete your account. I don't know if this is done intentionally to continue to receive YOUR tax dollar funding or not, but it's very suspicious.
I have 3 children who use flvs. A kindergarten and fourth grader in their homeschool program and a middle schooler who uses the county eschool, but it's through flvs. I can't say enough good things about the teachers there. The teachers feel like supportive allies in all 3 children's education. COVID has made this year especially challenging, and it's nice to feel supported as a home educator and parent as well. My kids are excelling and truly enjoying education. The teachers provide encouraging, inspiring, and motivational feedback. Extremely thankful we found such a great school option that works so well for our family.
All of these bad reviews are obviously from the students who have no ambition to try and blame others for their own actions. FLVS has been a life saver for my son. He enrolled with 3.5 credits and at the end of his Sophomore year. All of his teachers were exceptional. They may not all have responded to texts or phone calls immediately, but I never waited for more than a day for a response. Being able to text my son's teachers and get updates greatly exceeds what you will get from most public schools. Especially in Florida. My son actually learned more in FLVS then he ever did in his local high school. His teachers mostly all seemed to care. In FLVS if you stop doing work you will be kicked out. In traditional high schools teachers will let you sleep through class and just ignore you. Those are facts. All I can say is, if your child is having a hard time focusing and getting good grades in a traditional school setting, and you as the parent are willing to put in some hard work, and basically become somewhat of a teacher yourself, this school is for you. My son came with 3.5 credits and within a little under a year and a half is back on track only needing 5 credits to graduate. So he will most likely be graduating early. Oh and his school counselor Anne Flenner is great, responds quickly, and was MAJORLY helpful.
Its a great resource for Florida children. My son and daughter have successfully completed several courses including Advanced Math, Spanish, Keyboarding, Guitar. All teachers were very polite and helpful. The kids absolutely love the flexibility and can't wait to take more classes on FLVS.
i dont under stand how they put teacher s in my screen? i learnt things but slow and not. drivers edd is a cool guy and the teacher. is. good. good. bye?
VERY rude people when you call, my mom called to withdraw me and they said she wasn't on the list for me when I LIVE WITH MY MOM. I don't suggest unless you're willing to deal with a bunch of people who don't know what they're doing.
If you're going to take English Four Honors, Mr.Leggett is a fantastic teacher! Amazing dedication and immediate responses, the course was actually fun!
Lisa Beatty is an 8th grade math instructor at FLVS, and she is just terrible. She never called or contacted the student nor the parents. Very slow to reply to texts and calls. Not very helpful whatsoever. In fact, she allows her students to be dropped from the class due to her lack of responsibility on keeping track of where they're at in the class. For example, one student was almost complete with the class, but since they did not finish up ONE assignment back in the beginning of the course, Lisa gave NO prior warning beforehand and dropped them immediately. The student now has to retake the ENTIRE course again. Completely unfair. When asked about what the student could do to avoid being dropped from the whole course, Mrs. Beatty simply replied that she suggests to take the course again and redo all the assignments.. Unprofessional. God awful teacher.
FLVS has plenty of course offerings, most of which are very well put together. They have great staff and their online tools are easy to navigate. I tend to have great experiences with FLVS, with a few exceptions. Do some research on the course before you take it, some can be great and others can be horrible!
FLVS is amazing. It's so stress free, and easy at the same time. It might be easy, but I also learn a lot from it and find it way more enjoyable than public schooling. You have to submit 3 assignments a week for each class, but you can do the assigments whenever you want as long as they're done in a week. It only takes me 1-2 hours a day to complete 3 assignments for one class, and I usually have Fridays off. I love FLVS and I highly recommend it. Communication between teachers is somewhat fast. It takes about a day at most to get a text back.
So far we've been absolutely floored by FLVS. The teachers are warm, helpful, and involved. Students are allowed to submit all assignments (except for module exams) up to three times. This allows them to truly master a subject and improve, not just check the box and move on. Our boys love the flexibility and time to pursue their own passions independently. As a military family, we've tried a lot of different school in a lot of different settings. Our guys say this is their favorite. =)
I am a homeschool mom to my 11 year old daughter. She is currently taking courses part time via Florida Virtual school. While there are some instructors who are great and understanding of scheduling, as a homeschool parent the requirements for pacing are silly. The purpose of homeschooling my child is so that I can set the pace for my child's work. The teachers from the orange county virtual program are eager to drop students from their classes. Not to mention it takes forever for a child to be assigned a classroom to begin with. I am going to try the FLVS (non county) platform and if that does not work I will find a new curriculum. My daughter performs well on all assignments but she was dropped from her world history class today because she did not submit a stupid time capsule which consisted of making a timeline of her life using baby pictures and other items. Never mind the fact that she performed very well on all WORLD HISTORY (not personal history) related assessments. I am not pleased.
Just wanted to send a quick note to share what a great experience it was to work with Mr. Quinn this past summer. My son was in his FLVS math class and Mr. Quinn was always quite helpful and VERY responsive in getting back to us daily. All three of my kids have been in FLVS over the past few summers and I was really impressed with Mr. Quinn.
As you know my son has been a Math Student with FLVS now for two years. However, he does attend a small private school (K-8) in St. Augustine, FL. He is a full time student in the 8th grade and has an overwhelming love for Math. With that said, his 6th grade Math Teacher found that he was bored with the class lead Math Curriculum. So, he decided to have us enroll him into FLVS for the 7th and 8th grade Math Class. During class, he would take a school issued laptop and go to the back of the Math Class with headphones and would complete his daily assignments. He completed 7th grade well before the 3rd quarter of the 7th grade year and is close to being completed with 8th grade and he just entered 8th grade this week.
To prepare the students for the public school setting, his private school enrolls their 8th grade students in FLVS for Math and they log in at school during their scheduled Math Class and complete their assignments just as my son has for the past two years. With that said, I want to let you know that he hasn't completed any assignments this week due to being assigned as the FLVS Pre-Algebra Class Mentor. His Math Teacher has him teaching each student the process to log in, navigate and what is expected of them in the FLVS program. He is now their designated Pre-Algebra Team Lead. I am told that next week, the students will be logging in and starting their curriculums and use my son to answer any confused questions. (I am going to have to ask for a tuition discount, LOL) So, he should be back on track with submitting assignments on a daily basis, unfortunately due to after school sports, he is unable to complete any additional assignments in the evenings.
With that said, I want to let you know that we are extremely proud of my son and grateful that you have lead/taught him the process of the FLVS Math Program. He absolutely loves the subject and honestly, I was worried he wouldn't excel with a computer based class. My son loves to interact with students and especially his teachers. So whatever you are doing with him, you are keeping him engaged and on track as well as consistently keeping both his father and I informed of his progress. The communication has been excellent and we never have to question what our son is doing in Math.
Thank you again for your dedicated time with our son and we look forward to his continued love for Math.
This was horrible and I'm still having diarrhea from my classes and I will never sign up with edgenuity again it was a horrible experience and the only thing I learned from it was how to soil my pants without meaning to. I'd rather shrek in my rear end than another day in my English 3 class!
I was torn between two and three stars. There are some definite upsides to flvs. It is a nice starting off point for homeschool but nothing more than just that. It is difficult to enroll of you are trying to attend traditional school and flvs at the same time . Flvs staff is uninformed and each person will tell you something completely different .Teachers are not great but effective. The assignments are lacking depth . Emails from flvs staff are hysterical .It is almost as if they don't even read what you wrote but just respond . Not sure I can recommend it to others.
This is an amazing school and th teachers have provided me with so much help. They are very kind and unnderstanding people. For those people who have reviewedd this school and complain about how the teachers take forever to grade are incredibly rude and obviously don't care about the teachers situations. Some teachers aren't only responsible for a single class of over 100 students but TWO classes. I went to a school two years ago that they didn't care about your mental health or your motivation to learn. These teachers do their very best to keep you on track and motivated. Most of these teachers deserve a raise. Thankd to them I'm going to get to graduate at the end of my senior year. Class of 2018. Thank you FLVS !
I took an Flvs in my freshman year at my school and didn't have any issues with it. I was having personal problems and had to start FLVS flex because it was a week after the normal FLVS started. My teachers never answered, didn't have valid online resources that actually help and only had what felt like one spot a day for DBA's. I was working two jobs at the time and one was perfect to where I could also do all of my FLVS homework but I felt like I was spending hours and hours and never getting anywhere in the classes and the reading had nothing to do with the test or assignments. I only had the final test in all of classes left and I would be done with the semester when I was finally able to go to a physical public school. My new guidance counselor talked to and FLVS rep and he told her that i could stop my classes for a week and finish my last test in the school to get credits for that semester and instead they dropped me and I couldn't get any credit for all of the work I did for months. Now I'm a senior with 6 online makeup courses (through a credit recovery course, NOT FLVS) and if i dont get perfect scores, I won't be able to graduate so thanks FLVS, you truly screwed me over and my education.
FLVS is so amazing! I love how you can take any course at your own pace. I also love that the teachers interact with you and is always taking time in making sure you understand the subject. I have used FLVS to re-do classes that I've failed in High School, and I went from a D to an A in past courses I've taken, and to me that is amazing. Thanks to FLVS my GPA has risen and I understand better than when I did taking classes at school.
FLVS involves a lot of work and can be awfully stressful at times not many people enjoy taking part in this distressful program although if you enjoy being challenged to a limit and are a boring being with no other life but school then this is right for you!!! At FLVS the teachers truly do think that you do school all day every day!
My son has had the greatest experience this year with English Honors 3 (high school, junior year.) Mrs. Osborn is the greatest teacher - she is positive, prompt and reliable, and gives him great direction and feedback. He absolutely loves taking English through FLVS, and as a parent I am so happy with it too. Thank you!
Tbh I don't like FLVS I actually hate it . The Spanish teacher keeps hounding me on my back like please leave me alone but P.E is actually good. But I'd rather be outside playing and in a class room learning my elective some people have reasons to be on FLVS but if the school can afford having regular class's than do it and stop being just plain lazy.
I'm a 12th grade student and I've been in FLVS for a year now and I am very pleased the the program. I have had about 15 teachers total for all the courses I've taken and all of them were great. They respond within 24 hours and grade my work within 72. All of my teachers care about my success and are always helpful.
I have ease navigating the courses. The assignments assigned with lessons are well-written and if you understand the information, you understand the assignment. If you don't understand, I love how FLVS gives us more resources to learn. When I'm confused, I can attend live lessons or schedule a one-on-one tutoring lesson. There are guided notes for all my courses and numerous help videos. If I'm still confused after using all of those resources, I can contact my teachers again and they are there to help me understand the topics.
I don't understand all of these negative comments. FLVS has saved me from not going to a public high school.
This school is awful! The "teachers" are literally called instructors because they don't teach... they are just there to tell you how to navigate the FLVS website. Some of the teachers are very kind and understanding, but most of the time they're extremely rude and unhelpful. The lessons do not explain anything clearly and tend to teach things that are completely different to what you are tested on. The website itself has many glitches and errors and randomly crashes from time to time... and it isn't my internet connection because it's the only website that gives me issues. I have heard about how many people have been able to graduate early from FLVS, but it is purely luck based as to which instructors you are given. I am even having to graduate from high school late because of this. PLEASE do not put your child in this school!
FLVS is an AMAZING online school program. Every teacher that I have spoken to has been polite, flexible with schedules, make me feel valued, and are very focused on success. Teachers are also kind to you if you are kind to them, and no one is perfect, we all have our days. (Remember that when you look at the negative 1 star reviews) FLVS is a great online program that has made me very successful and satisfied with my learning. I hope that my review gets read and makes you choose FLVS!!!
The idea of FLVS sounds great, but the actual thing is not. My personal experience of taking Spanish 2 online is that, it is two weeks till the end of the year and I've only talked to my teacher 4 times, after booking her countless times and calling multiple times. I am severely behind pace, and so are many others I know that are taking the same class, you cannot work at your own pace despite the promises Flvs makes. The formatting is confusing and it took me days to figure out how to turn in assignments, the voice recording tool is garbage and the whole program is confusing and out of date. I have learned nothing and only took this class because it is a requirement and I still regret it. Better teachers, more feasible pace for part time kids, and overall better formatting would make it so much better.
F.L.V.S. is a great school. The teachers always are available to help! My son started in 3rd grade. He is in 6th grade know. We start in the Flex Program and swicht this year to Full time. I am more than greatful with Flvs.
This is an amazing online public school, for all you "haters out there" should reconsider what you are saying. This online school has lots of wonderful teachers and parents that work at their desk everyday to help children learn, being a teacher is a tough choice but with the right attitude you can do anything. Teens will have a better future , because of Florida Virtual School, and will graduate to achieve anything or be anything they want to do. Teens need a different education then these schools the teachers are not [providing enough so the children do not understand, so to all the teachers Beautiful African American or white any race thank you for Florida Virtual School!! you rock!!
The Teachers are really nice shout out to Mr.Fellows. The only thing which is my fault is that it little hard to stay on pace. Lessons if you actually read them are easy to understand and assignments are pretty fun appreciate the live lessons too. Highly recommended
A huge pain in the butt. The classes are so easy and I am taking online math classes only because regular math is too easy and I wanted to skip a grade of unnecessary already known math, but .... There is so much stuff you have to do other than the regular stuff you are required to do in regular middle school classes like an oral summary to the teacher. Some of the stuff there is really not needed (like 40 percent of it). I've read some of the other comments and FLVS owner is always asking for how they can help. Well right now, you can help by making the classes so the teacher and students can communicate other than with a phone. I mean, it's kinda hard to know what your teacher is like only hearing their voice. I'm never going to join FLVS again(I don't need to) and if I do want to go take virtual classes, I already found a website that I can join.
not good. they throw you in a course without helping you, and leave you to do your thing. which is good, exept i didnt even know how to start. very complicated, and seems outdated. avoid this and take any other option.
it is very annoying. the teachers are always pushing you and texting you saying your behind. I did Spanish online so I could go on my own pace but I guess that didn't work out so great. if anyone does foreign languages do 2 assignments per day and skip the weekends for some time off. personally the best advice. FLVS is also very unorganized with the DBA'S and the teachers are never there when you need them. I really dislike FLVS. rated 2. and that's an honest rate!
If I could give a lower review I would. Was withdrawn from all of my classes without any warning, and was withdrawn failing in two of them when I was passing all my classes at the time. My teachers didn't even know why and any time me or my mom tried to contact the people working at the school (you know what I mean... people who work at the FLVS building or specifically the Pasco homeschooling building or whatever) they either didn't know or understand what was happening or simply didn't care. We still would not even know why if my mom hadn't posted on FACEBOOK to ask. We got more help from people on Facebook than the staff at these schools. We found out that I needed an evaluation (which is weird because I've been going here for multiple years and have never needed on before). So we got the evaluation done and turned in and... I'm still not back in any of my classes when we were specifically told that We had until the 31st to turn it in and I could restart my classes without any problems. We turned it in about a week ago and as you can probably tell I'm still not back in my classes. This is the most half-assed school I've ever had to deal with
Unrelated to my current problem but I have social anxiety and the DBA's give me anxiety attacks all the time. Wish there was an alternative (which probably doesn't matter now because at this point it seems like I'm never going to be able to finish my classes). Overall this school has been terrible for my mental health (when the only reason I ever started homeschooling was to relive stress from having to attend physical schools)
Excruciating. Wasted my entire summer on a Spanish course. About to take my second course due to my parents this summer, even through heavy protest. My teacher was very nice, don't get me wrong. But there was too much to do during the More
what a big joke why do people call this a school well i sure dont my summer is ruined sure i got behind and why THE STRESS THE STRESS IS WHAT CAUSED ME TO GET BEHIND so thanks for ruining my summer because of the STRESS this caused me so flvs is a sorry excuse of a school if you ask me. so for my summer the only thing i can do mostly is this joke and not be able to relax and to my hobbies so i will refuse this if i have to do it again i dont care about this flvs joke of a school i wish i could give this -5 stars but because of the star system i will only give this joke one star and flvs has a woping 2.4 stars no wonder why this joke has 2.4 stars
We have been using FLVS Flex for two years now and my daughters and I could not be happier with the experience. The teachers are involved, understanding, flexible, and experienced in virtual platforms. The flexible schedule allows for travel, family time, and the ability for them to take their time or accelerate at the pace they show the most success with. One of my daughters is incredibly advanced, and the other struggles with Dyslexia and ADHD and both are thriving with the flexible curriculum provided far more than they did in Brick and Mortar. Virtual school may not be for everyone, but if you are looking into it for your own child I cannot recommend FLVS enough!
This is a great school but it did take me awhile to figure the system out. Its fairly stressful but compared to public school its great! Me and all my other siblings love it!
as a student I can say this is the worst school to go to, I want people to read this so they know not to put their kids in this school, the notes that you take for most assignments don't match for the dba or tests, the amount of assignments they put and what they are is ridiculous, its like the teacher for each subject thinks your the only class their in. they think that you can only get good grades so when you get one bad grade they make you super stressed out about it and they give the worst advice ever, even for the assignments, they only focus on grades they don't care about what you learn, one last thing for this review is that they give you no time to do anything else but school, one day of means more work, please do not consider going to this school
I don't know what any of you are saying... but this is the BEST online school website ever. the teachers never answer the phone. they set you up to fail. they kick you out after a week of no work. 10/10 in my book.
Mrs Martinez sucked as a Spanish teacher and i never was able to get a clear answer from her with anything ( I would ask where i can do my dba's at and she would respond it is in your lesson folder and then after another unsuccessful hour her phone "magically" turned off and it was no longer available )
I was doing 7th grade math this year and got the worst teacher her name is ms decambre. No contact. And I was a little behind in assignments and she told me to upload a picture of my assignment or I would get withdrawn and so I tried and I asked her to help me over the phone but she just stayed quiet. she said she would call me back to help but she didnt. And I texted her saying flvs is not working. no reply. So without helping me she withdrew me.
I am a firm believer when a person is doing well we should acknowledge it in the moment, just as we are quick to identify less than desirable behaviors. My son, Ishmael is assigned to Dr. Williams Earth/Space Science class, when I say that she is the "Ishmael Whisperer" it is truly an understatement of the phenomenal work she has done. My son is an introvert by nature, he has anxiety and ADHD, he always strives for perfection, but is shy when it comes to asking questions. Dr. Williams has a gift, she has been able to awaken my son in a manner that honestly only one other teacher has in the past. Ishmael has been in Segment 2 for only four weeks but is half through the course; he is just excited to work and learn new things. If I could take Dr. Williams with us through all of his academic endeavors, I would. I truly don't know if this email has truly captured the appreciation and gratitude we feel to have her as a teacher, she is one of the best.
So far all good experiences, with the huge amount of incoming kids this year because of everything going on I except there to be some issues, for 1 day we had issues logging in but that's understandable. Our teacher Ms, Sharp is awesome it's her first year just like ours we are all kinda learning together. No complaints
I saw your reply. Yes there are lots of changes. The teachers are nice but flvs policies are not. I was a week late because I have a ton of hard classes at my physical school and I also have a ton of extra circulars ... My teacher was calling me and telling me that I will be removed from the course and a ton of other stuff. My parents were also called. I was disappointed because if I am not able to submit a week late , FLVS should not call themselves a work at your own pace school. Now I cant blame my teacher because im pretty sure they are just doing what they are told. I had to take my online class because i needed my credit. I really wish FLVS would just give a day to finish your course by, and you should only get penalized if you don't finish by that date. For instance I start on August 1 and I have until June to finish up and I should have the option to submit whenever I want. Teachers can still grade assignments but I would only get penalized if I dont finish by June. I tried explaining my teacher about my school situation he was understanding but said they will he has to call my parents and all that stuff ... which gets frustrating. Not saying the FLVS system is a bad idea ... I just think it needs improvement
I have to give this 5-Stars because I feel that everyone writing negative reviews are also people who critique the food at buffets. Just eat the food, its cheap, readily available, and you chose when to feed yourself. I believe the educational zeitgeist has changed to the point that children and parents believe it is the teacher's responsibility to speak to them everyday and to enrich them. Now teachers at an educational institution should be paid much more and have a greater sense of entitlement for doing this in a public place, but that is not the case for FLVS and there is nothing wrong with that. You can't expect a teacher who calls 200 students individually each day and gets paid less than one of the lowest paid public employees in the U.S to make an emotional and academic connection with you. The reason you are on FLVS is because you are pretending to be socially inept in school; you get bullied, live far from school, have a real learning disability that is not some faux malaise like ADD or ADHD, or are terminally ill (which are the only venerable reasons to dislike having to do online school), you are god awfully asinine, you are a criminal, or you want to get extra-credits in the narrowest window of time you have outside of school life. Nobody on this program deserves to complain, you should be happy one of your parents don't quit their job to educate you at home or that you can actually be given the opportunity to learn when you want on your own time like a college student. All the answers are online, it is theoretically impossible for someone to fail at virtual school, yet so many do and then write negative reviews online. The object of this school is to teach yourself the material and receive a minimal amount of help from supervisors on their time, you have already absconded from the possibility of obtaining a teacher's time by not going to school so you should find other channels to discover information, e.g, the INTERNET THAT YOU ARE CURRENTLY BROWSING or a library. The lessons are there in plain English (or in plain foreign language depending on what class you are taking) and you just have to look more things up on the world wide web if you want to learn about it. The only negatives of the program are positives to the students who use FLVS, it is far too easy to pass assignments and not learn anything, but I propose a system where students must go through the lesson before taking an assignment as to not be able to skip around. I have finished year classes in 15 days, nothing else in the world other than a CLEP exam can do this for anyone. FLVS is a dream come true in the technological era and anyone abasing FLVS can't appreciate the difference between having to be fettered by 6-8 hours of monotonous schooling and logging on for 2 hours and then being finished with 10% of your entire class. FLVS is great I recommend it for anyone who wants to take advantage of the worst common core educational requirements of any other first-world country.
FLVS teachers are fantastic. They make constant contact, work well with you and you're schedule. The four years I have been taking specifically FLVS classes has been fantastic. However, they also host another franchise called PAEC. This is the worst possible function I have ever seen as a student. My Personal Fitness teacher never contacts me, doesn't have an email, sends vague three worded texts and avoids answering all of my questions in a helpful manner. His "home page" for Personal Fitness says Algebra 1. Also, refuses to set up a specific time for the DBA and tells me one thing then does another. He is rude and seems like he couldn't care less about the class. I wouldn't suggest PAEC for anyone.
