I don't know why there are so many negative reviews because I think FLVS is great! layouts pretty good, I can find my way easily, some of my teachers are helpful I'm just wishing that DBA's were optional and that some of teachers will respond to my texts or emails. Please don't look for my teachers because I know they have a lot on their hands. On some days, its a bit stressful because I miss live streams because I work day shifts. So, after i have to watch the recorded videos. I personally like the live streams so i can interact with other students and teachers. My history and math are at the same time which also make it hard because I wouldn't know which one to watch. Hope class is probably the worse subject because i called tech and they didn't fix the wellness plan. It could just be time but my teacher gave me a 0% on it because she couldn't receive the video I sent in and I didn't update my wellnessplan (that wasn't working). I had 80s and 90s in that course but it went down to 25% because of that one stupid assignment. Sending in videos are horrible and quite embarasing for your teacher to watch you do the exercises.. That's just my opinion. But, all in all, I think flvs is a good curriculum but it has its flaws like every other curriculum.

Florida Virtual School is a game changer. These teachers actually care about your success and do everything they can to help if you re struggling in the course. This is 10,000 x better than a brick and mortar school! These courses are unique and the assignment are challenging enough to help you learn the content. They also let kids keep socialized by doing meetups in the different counties and field trips. I recommend this to everyone I know.

I completed a couple of classes on FLVS in 2015 and I am currently a Junior at UF. I had great teachers, the course was easy to navigate, and the assignments allowed me to learn the content. Maintaining self discipline and moral standards is the key!! Stay on top of due dates and if you really wan't to learn, don't Google all the questions because I know that for most classes, all the assignments and answers are accessible. Enjoy FLVS because online college courses don't have the content designed for the students and thus it is your responsibility to locate all the information.

Highly recommended! The school is run with student and parent needs as a priority. The communication from teachers to parents is clear and frequent. As a working parent of two full-time elementary students, it was been very manageable! Both students have excelled by simply following the recommended pace chart each week. Exceptional experience and would recommend to anyone seeking a real virtual learning experience.

This is my 2nd year using FLVS Flex and I absolutely love it. I would recommend it to anyone who asked. I wish I could do Full Time (parents don't want it lol). I can't speak for Full Time but Flex is great as long as your motivated enough to do it. Especially because you can finish the class early so during Midterms/Finals week you don't have to worry about it. And if you're having trouble with something you can spend more time on it. Or if you get it easily you don't have to wait for the rest of the class to understand something. If you ever have a lot of homework from your physical classes you know you don't have to turn your FLVS work in the next day. All the segments I've had I've finished like a month and a half early. I took Honors Geometry in 8th grade, and now I'm doing Latin 1 and Drivers Ed.

There school is unequal when it comes to the acceptance of teens who have special needs, I am saying this because I have used flvs at physical school in the ninth grade for Hope and I prefer their system of learning over Florida's regular system, but due to an IEP that has accommodations that I no longer need they have rejection my attempt of using their school full time so i am going to have to be honest here there school is horrible and I don't recommend this school to anyone with a special needs student like myself.

Dear Ms. Baroco,

Dear Ms. Baroco,

I am writing today to express a very overdue thank you for the assistance that you provided last spring when my son, Jackson DiGiovanna was enrolled in French 2. When I contacted you to discuss time line issues, you along with other members of your staff addressed my concerns and solved problems quickly. I thank you for your professionalism and also for your compassion.

Many thanks! Wishing you a very happy holiday season!

Mary Ann Dallas (DiGiovanna)

I took three courses with FLVS along with my in person high school classes and I really liked them. All the teachers I had were nice and willing to help. There is so many help videos and even tutoring options!

There are so many things wrong with how this is all set up. The whole work at your own pace thing is far from the truth. Sure you can work a pace as long as it is faster than the mandatory one they have set. The pace is okay if you only have that class and no other kind of reading or public school to do along side the crammed disorganized curriculum of FLVS. The only good thing that comes from FLVS is the ability to get credits that the schools around my town don't really offer. You can also take easy classes here to help boost your GPA, but it is a lot harder than FLVS makes it out to be. The work may be easy, but the teachers seem disconnected and out of touch. The instructions on assignments are unclear. There are many times for me that I would have questions on tests or quizzes that were never covered in the reading material. i went back and looked at the readings afterwards to try and find them to review and be ready for the final. They weren't there and I had to do reading out side of the class that wasn't assigned just to get passing scores on the quizzes.

I took the photography class. I was removed the first time because my teacher told me to wait for her reply, grading, and critiques before moving on to the next assignment. She never got back to me so I didn't move forward. Eventually I got a call saying I had been removed from the course. I never got any kind of warning or refined direction from the instructor.

I took the class a second time to try and get the credit that was required for my high school diploma. The second time around was much better. It seemed more structured and the teacher would get back as soon as she could. I guess it is really just luck. You either end up with a teacher that makes an easy course seem fun and natural, or one that makes you want to drop out and go the extra mile to get the credit made up or completed in some other way.

Only take FLVS if your school has it as a requirement or if you have something that keeps you from going to a public school. Public schools aren't that bad. It is easier to reach your teachers since they are actually present and physically involved in your education. The FLVS teachers are less like teachers and seem more like educational tech support. They will help you, but rarely do you get the answer you need and you spend half the time jumping through hoops that have nothing to do with the problem at hand.

This is the crappiest designed education learning program. I literally forgot my password because your password expires like every like 10 days I swear. I have done the forgot password option and they have changed my password and then I go to long in and put the EXACT log in information they give me and it says it is invalid and I cannot long in to my account. This is exactly why Florida's education system is #29 in the whole nation.

teachers don't understand when you have classes that aren't part of flvs. inconsiderate. constantly blows up notifications if assignments aren't in, even when in class. offer help but when questions are asked, they get ignored. would not recommend.

TRASH i am a full time flvs student because i do online school and i wish i never did , the teachers don t help you at all the only time they contact you is to remind you to do work constantly which if funny because one of flvs main thing they say is you can work at you own pace (lie) you don t turn in work for a day and teachers start calling 4+ times in flvs they claim you can work around the modules you know start the easy stuff then work your way to the hard LIE again if you don t do work from the first module to the end in that order they threaten to boot you out the class i wish i would have stayed in public school.

This is literally the worst excuse of an "education" program I've ever had the displeasure to use. You don't learn anything, they give way too much work, they don't give enough time to do the work, they kick you out of the course for no reason, and the "teachers" are just there to talk to the parents. This website may look professional but its really just to cover up it's horrible moderation and how the school works.

Giving flvs a 1 star, because weeks after finishing one class; my personal e-mail started getting spammed with programs that I didn't even sign up for. Not to mention that the entire reason I took flvs in the first place was because my school didn't offer a core class, so I had to take it online. So basically- so my only choices were to either not do flvs, and fail high school, or take it; and get spammed with e-mails for an indefinite period of time.

Superior level of instruction in absence of seemingly endless traditional public school distractions. The roster of superior educators is endless; however, Sease, McIntosh, Wunder, Pennington .. too many to recall. Thank you for providing an alternative to an outdated approach.

as a student who is motivated by deadlines turning things in own is a struggle for me with FLVS, however the material is explained very well and I've noticed a lot of success because it is so student driven, it can be difficult at time though but any issue I've had from having technical issues during a test to being withdrawn has been easily solved just by calling or sending a message. This might not be the best choice if your child/ you struggle with motivation but otherwise I've really liked it.

I am a junior almost proceeding my senior year. It's most definitely not for everyone but as someone who was typically ahead of their classes and was better off "self taught", it was perfect for me. I was able to take classes that interested me and weren't typically available in my private school. I would do about a weeks worth of "school' in a single day and test scores only Improved. Public/Private school wastes too much time and teacher are ironically highly undereducated in their subjects. The distractions in public/private schools are no less than they would be in your own home. The strict curriculum in virtual school keeps you on track while public/private allow you to slack. I would recommend virtual school to those who already score high but dislike the system or want to further their education

I used flvs for school and i took Spanish 1, worst class ive ever taken, hands down. The teacher Ms. DeMier was the worst teacher ive ever had. during the discussion based assessments when i knew nothing and i even made it clear to her "Im sorry Ms. DeMier, i dont know" and she would stay on the same question for 20 minutes, not only wasting my time, but the OTHER STUDENTS in my class who had to talk to her. Another thing that made me hate this program was that she would give me a grade like 8/10 and say "You did great! just add what you said in the comments box and you have get full credit." and i would add the text and she would give me a 2/10 saying "im sorry but this is wrong, please talk to me" and she would block the assignment. worst course ever. never even learned anything, if i could give it 0 stars i would

At an institution that has low moral values, they continue to strive to make the absolute worst experience for everyone involved. The teachers are preoccupied with 100 other students all at once, the students are apathetic at best due to the low quality learning environment, the whole system is broken from the ground up.

The virtual school is pretty crappy in my opinion. You either get a teacher you love or hate. I think the worst part of all is how your teachers treat you, I am taking online Chinese through Flvs, and it sucks crap. The teachers treat you like your just there, the system makes your computer slow, it glitches, and don't even get me started on the DBA's (Dialogue Based Assessment). I have had it with Flvs, and they need to improve everything, or just stop as a whole.

Im doing the ell virtual school and it is just a waste of time... the worst part is that i cant get out of it, because is a graduation requirement . HORRIBLE website to work on the lessons very confusing

I needed an extra language class at the end of junior year for a scholarship and this was the best way to get that class done quick and easy. just takes a while to get used to all the menus and the layout.

The teacher I had was nice and did the best she could but overall the quality of education is not on par with public school. I learned absolutely nothing and the online work would get on my nerves because it would just be on top of my normal school work. The only reason I took a class was because it is a high school graduation requirement. I would give this a zero star if I could. I feel bad for some of the good people that have to work for the company.

My kids love FLVS and we are so happy to be a part of such a fantastic school. They love that they can do enough entire school day in 3.5 hours and have the rest of the day to play and explore. My kids are hard workers and do well working independently. FLVS isn't for everyone, but if you are good at working on your own, this is the school for you. I simply guide my kids through the lessons and they rock their tests. We can't say enough good things about Florida Virtual.

im not saying i love flvs i mean cause i don't really like school at all.
but i do mathematics in flvs and the lessons give no help, i mean sometimes i will find what i need but alot of other times im totally confused. thats my only problem, other then that flvs is pretty good.

I just wanted to take my precious time out of my day to say this, and mind you, I could be out exploring the world but no, im here working. On your defense, I have nothing better to do but im trying to prove my point. This school has gave me major depression and I honestly don't know how to handle it anymore.

Shout out to Karri Walters she really out here giving mad attitude to her students when they ask questions. once i asked a question about something i was confused on because i wasnt sure on how to complete it so in return she said that students don't find this difficult so she doesn't understand why im stuck ???? EXCUSE ME YOU OUT HERE ACTING LIKE UR A QUEEN KNOWING EVERYTHING. she is rude, mean, and gets me unmotivated. but also shoutout to the realest BRAINLY

Also, they put more effort into setting up all of these websites for the live lessons rather than the actual information put into the lessons. Then, on top of that, they reply to the reviews carelessly. If you are going to apologize with the same copied and pasted reply "Were sorry to hear this. If there's something in particular you feel we can do better, we're all ears. Please feel free to reach us on Facebook or Twitter anytime if you'd like to discuss this further", then don't waste your time because I will not accept your apology.

There was this one teacher though, Ms. Mullins, the English instructor, THAT WOMAN DESERVES A RAISE. But then there are teachers like Ms. Lalonde, which I've never in my life encountered such disrespect.

Also, stop telling me that I can work on pace because you know so well that I will get dropped if I fall a little behind.

-Thank You for your time

IGNORE all of these goofy 1 star reviews. They're written by frustrated parents, who have no patience, during a world wide pandemic! This is an incredible school, but they had a 500% increase in students this year, so cut them some slack! They are trying their best and working through unprecedented times, without much thanks. Give them some grace and chill out. We've been at FLVS for years and it is the bees knees! Wonderful teachers, great classes, and yes you have to be a hard worker to get the best out of your experience. If you are lazy and unmotivated, this is not the school for you.

As a student on FLVS, I can say that it has been a really great opportunity. I enjoy how my teacher is helpful in answering all my questions. The website is easy to navigate. I know that many states don't offer a vitural school as good as this one. I love how I'm able to take High School Credit course over the summer, and get a start for next year. And still attend a public school. The only thing that annoys me, is that the Spanish 1 course, doesn't go over most of the Spanish words. Instead, it talks about Hispanic Culture, Cognates, and verb forms. However, it's a great program to earn the credits.

FLVS is great for going at your own pace, but i definitely do not recommend it to anyone. The classes when taken online are 100 times harder than when taken in a classroom. ONLY TAKE FLVS AS A LAST RESORT CLASS. NEVER EVER EVER TAKE A MATH COURSE ON FLVS IT IS HELL.

Alright I'm going to be 100% honest. I don't usual...

Alright I'm going to be 100% honest. I don't usually write reviews but looking I was scrolling through the reviews of the school and a lot of them bothered me. Do I like FLVS? Ya, I do. I've been in public school my whole life, and then I was having some issues my freshman year, and my parents thought it would be a good idea to just take a breather from high school.
FLVS allowed me to do some pretty incredible things. I traveled to Paraguay, Panama, Costa Rica, Toronto, and Vancouver Island. I also spoke to teenage girls publicly about bullying, so it's pretty cool that I was able to do such amazing things because of my flexibility. I love the Live Lessons, they are honestly the most helpful. I stopped reading the lessons and just watched the live lessons because my mind would wander reading 12 pages of information. Some of my teachers responded quickly, and some of my teachers didn't. I didn't mind that though, they would always reply in max time 2 hours. One thing that I absolutely hated about FLVS was the DBA's. I would always stop doing my work because I knew a DBA was coming up and it gave me so much anxiety that I couldn't even be on the course without having a breakdown. I felt like most of the time I was learning solely so I could get a good grade on the DBA and not learning for myself. At the beginning of the year I was told a DBA is more like a conversation, and less like a test. The further the year got, the more "test like" it became. My teachers began to grow impatient if I didn't have the correct answer, which made me feel small, and stupid. My mom emailed FLVS to try to ask if there were any alternatives to completing the calls and they said no. Now don't get me wrong, majority of my teachers are very very kinds and very nice on the DBA's but the negative affects more than the positive in those situations I guess. I have recommended FLVS to all of the people who ask. I like how I can finish school early, and I'm not at a desk for 7 hours straight.

Flvs really saved me when my anxiety stopped me from going to school. I was able to do school in a setting I'm comfortable with, in my own home. Plus, I could do it on my own pace and their was so pressure on when I had to do what. The teachers really worked with me to help me finish on my time.

its way more harder that public school. in public school you have a teacher who you don't have to wait 30 minutes to help with something your stuck on. in flvs they just give you a lesson that you read and just think were gonna get it all of a sudden. i wish my mom kept me in public school cause i would have been done already by now. i didn't even have a summer cause i had to do work all summer.

A pretty terrible experience. I took a full year of flvs for my junior year of high school and it was one of the most disappointing years of my life. Save yourself the time, save your curiosity for something else.

The first segment was a nightmare.I did the United States History Honors. Flvs lost 2 chapters of my work and said that I had never even completed it. There was a lot of havoc in my family because of Florida virtual school. There was also a teacher changeover... but I wasn't told about it so I was very confused about it. The second segment was a little bit better, however. My teacher was so caring and nice... in fact, I think that the teacher was the best part of the whole course and experience. I also do not feel that I learned a thing from this course. All in all, I do not recommend online courses to people that have ADHD or are not motivated.

To be Honest this is a good site for me although its really easy and I've learned about 2 things because I took this for Spanish to get another elective at my regular school and its fine. But the assessment are very pointless and long for such and easy thing. I would only recommend less assignment and more emphasis on the tests because for students like me its easy and I already know the material. I'll defiantly use thus program again although only to get out of the possibility of not learning anything at my school and to try to get all I can from this. The teacher here are great, very well educated and helpful although its not as flexible for me due to me having a deadline and I have a busy schedule I can still manage just not as freely. Its overall great just not for the pace I am able to go in shorter length because its nit something to look forward to unless your going to finish. Thank you all for your time and please look in to what I previously said. Thanks and its Okay what your doing so keep it up

I was in the hospital for a few weeks.. And I was already off pace beforehand due to extreme stress with this class and my regular high level classes I take at my public highschool.. I am about done with segment one and am almost to the 18 week mark.. I was wondering if could finish the first segment and get half of the math credit.. And then take the second half of the class with a new class and get the other half of the credit? Is that possible ?

My daughter recently completed her first FLVS course, and I was very impressed with both the course content and her instructor. She learned so much, and I liked that she was held accountable for her study through the phone assessments. She had quite a few questions since this was her first online course, and the teacher always responded promptly. The teacher was positive and encouraging throughout the course.

A a veteran of both homeschooling and FLVS I vouch for FLVS. Teachers are great, helpful and always look for the best way to help you. The courses are all very well constructed and comprehensive. It makes learning easy and you can do courses while in your underwear if you want.

This is our second year with FLVS and could not be happier! The flexibility of the curriculum has made it so much easier to continue with the schedule of my son's soccer competitive league. The teachers are always there to reach out via text or email, if you have any questions or concerns. Our son has held straight A's in all of his honors and elective courses for both years. Another additional bonus, is being ahead of the pace chart and finishing early! Last year he finished the first Segment in November and the second Segment in April. Highly recommend FLVS and a huge thank you to the entire staff!

Okay I am asking this to understand the situation ...

Okay I am asking this to understand the situation before jumping to conclusions and please answer truthfully not automated. Could the FLVS staff could please explain to me why the teachers do not actually teach or explain assignments but just recopy the same question you read from assessment and tell you to "Try again" .Why we are not allowed to jump around to different assignments even though I pass them and why we aren't allowed to do DBAs without passing All the assignments even though you have an "A" or whats considered a "Passing Score"? It adds a lot of unnecessary stress since I signed up for FLVS because It said I can "Go at your own Pace" ( Not true from my experiences). I am giving it a 3 Only because I have some vague understanding of these decisions.

I will update my review once I see an improvement. The teachers all seem so lovely but the technical side is a completely and utter mess. School started last Wednesday. My kids have not been able to attend not even 1 live session because of technical errors. When I call tech support they have 900+ callers in queue. Don't accept the call back options because you will never get a call back. I was really looking forward to FLVS but it has been a total nightmare. I'm so disappointed. I'm afraid my kids will fall back due to all this! And what point is there that teacher's record the live sessions if I can't access VSA to see the recordings?!! 2 stars because teachers seem proficient but minus 10 stars for inability to access anything!

I absolutely adore FLVS. I left public school to do FLVS due to anxiety issues and it was the best choice I've made. I started it in 8th grade and have had the best teachers. Klingbeil for pre-algebra and Fruge for U.S History always make me feel valid and are always very welcoming in answering any questions I have. A lot of people on here say it's hard to stay on pace, but as long as you are submitting weekly you will be fine. Also, if you're having difficulties with a teacher and would like to get reassigned, I'm sure you can contact FLVS and find out. I started FLVS 2 months later than public school, and I ended up getting off track due to personal issues but I got back on track during this summer and only have about 20-25 assignments left in my courses. My teachers were very understanding about the time I wasn't able to submit much and are always such a great help. After summer, I will be in 9th grade and plan on doing FLVS the rest of my high school years. I also love the variety of electives, I'm also taking psychology and I'm very excited about that.
Thank you, FLVS, for allowing me to still follow my dreams, just without public school and the mess that comes with it.

I only started getting home-schooled because I was getting bullied in public school. At first I was really nervous that it would happen here but after about two weeks LVS felt like another home. All the teachers show so much care and make a big effort to help you keep A's and B's. Its not like most schools the students there are amazing and you build great relationships so fast. This is my 2nd year here and im going to stay for High School as well. Not only is it an amazing school but I can graduate with my Associates Degree by Junior year!!! Im so glad I came to FLVS and I wish I could stay forever! I definitely recommend joining us at FLVS!

As for the courses.... school isn't always fun. And its definitely not always easy but if you study and try hard you will be fine. The teachers here are amazing and will reset your quizzes and exams if needed. Its basically impossible to fail unless you just dont care about your grades.

We do have clubs at LVS such as news team, singing club, NJHS and NHS, etc... I wish we had sports but that can always be changed in the future.

It is very stressful and you have to put in several assignments a week which isn't the best for my summer schedule. but I think it is a good establishment despite my experience with it.

If you are successful in school with time to spare...

If you are successful in school with time to spare, and you want to get ahead by doing extra classes online, FLVS will work fine, and will ultimately be beneficial.
If your school is forcing you to do this regardless of your scholarly status, then you will probably have a bad time.
While the ability to take an extra class over a long period of time, doing a few assignments a week, can be a very good idea, if you are struggling with classes as it is, then you may have trouble. See, the "Go at your own pace" thing is quite fake. Teachers generally have a minimum of one-or-two assignments a week, which would be much less of a problem if said assignments weren't structured like projects; all of them are very time consuming.
If you can spare a good amount of time every weekend, then FLVS could definitely work in your favor. However, if you have enough work already, then consider entering FLVS with caution or avoid it all together. (I say enter with caution, as many public schools are making an online-school course required)

This virtual school is honestly not good. The teachers are very nice and try too help out a lot, but the course just doesn't teach anything. I don't feel like I'm learning anything, especially in math. I'd recommend you rather do these courses in school with someone actually teaching you.
