Well-organized and very well signposted airport. The control is usually very quick. Shops are sufficiently available, as are restaurants and options to buy food. However, at the usual expensive airport prices. The parking fees are a cheek and as a normal mortal you can not really afford to park there, at most for collection. If I were to travel for several days, I would take a parking space nearby or travel by train if possible. The S-Bahn goes directly to the terminal.

Unbelievable which chaos this airport always brings! Not enough staff
Our last 8 flights all with a delay of one hour to three hours. At the baggage claim you also wait a long time. Here is simply saved in the wrong place !!! Service, performance and staff does not seem to matter here. The victim is always the passenger! Those responsible who make that possible are just among the top ... and probably still fame and pig salary!

The Hamburg airport has good food, they just need to be freindlier and more polite, besides the staff, its a good place! (if only it was possible to write with 3.5 stars)

How an airport has to be. However, smokers should be advised to smoke only in the cabins and close the door. I always find it outrageous to non-smokers.

Luggage straps at the flight switches do not go, the lines outside the security check more than 200 meters long ... and that in the week outside the holiday season

Saturday evening around 7 p.m. almost all shops in the arrivals area Terminal 2 were closed!
Few people waited there, all very relaxed and calm

Checkin usually overwhelmed, security takes a long time crazy, clearance works as well as never. Especially if you have to drive with bite to the plane

Very poor disability services, we booked to have special assistance, and never got any help to our gate what so ever.

Total chaos. First extremely long waiting times at the security check and then no buses to take the passengers to the plane
bring. This means no seats, delays of up to an hour, ... Unfortunately, not an isolated case, but has happened several times in the meantime!

My favorite airport, not too big, modern and stylish but not sterile. Staff at the security check sometimes quite borderline and baggage claim on arrival sometimes unbearably slow and tough (waiting times up to 45 minutes) but otherwise everything was good. Hamburg my pearl :-)

Clean and well-arranged airport with good public transport connections.
There is one minus point for the insufficient number of seats at the gates.

If nothing is going on, things go well, otherwise every little thing is overloaded. Everything was way too full, bad air conditioning when it rains there were buckets everywhere to catch the penetrating water, annoying and intrusive promo stands (in front of and within the security area) eternally waiting for luggage.
You * want * to play in the big league and you notice that.

This has to be the worst airport I've been to. Rude staff, no organisation, very few counters open, long waiting lines, etc. When I was there, the automatic gates to the security were not working, so I had to stand in a very long line just to scan my boarding pass!

Baggage claim takes ridiculously long ... impudence

The Airport was pretty okay considering its size, but I would do something about the shops and stores around. Very few eateries around that usually end up overcrowded. Cleanliness-wise, I would say that the Airport is pretty clean, and the seats around the airport are adequate. I would say that the main problem is congestion around the airport, as I found myself tightly squeezed on many occasions. Still an okay airport tough.

Giant snake and 50% security checks closed. Of course no contact far and wide. Waiting time about 45 minutes (10.09.15 at 15 o'clock). This is very scarce & outrageous. Incredible!

05:45 am in the morning and a one hour queue for the security check. No thanks, I will avoid Hamburg.

It's so boring here, there's barely anything here to do. Hamburg second largest city of Germany, Hamburg Airport does not reflect this. It's the last place you want to go to on planet earth.

Since the airport can still be so ok, if people with health restrictions in the security control are degraded, there is only one star of mine.

Good and clean airport. The T2 terminal has only one restaurant but still has good food.

I fly from HAM every week and was always proud of my hometown airport! Now everything is different, for a few weeks it has simply been unbearable. Everything was full, there were too few staff everywhere and there was no end to queues. The staff only approached you because everyone was stressed. The queue at ID card control for Gates B today reached Gate A20. Unacceptable. I strongly recommend switching to other airports in the region. Hamburg probably doesn't want any more passengers ...

Very little going on at the airport, of course, due to Corona, so many shops are closed.
But if you need something to eat or drink, you will find something.

In times of Corona everything closed. Employees are all electrified. But everything on time and went smoothly.

Yesterday again 45 minutes waiting for my suitcase - without words.

We are very satisfied with the offer of the airport Hamburg. The only drawback is that coming from the A1, through several
Districts of Hamburg must drive.

The airport is OK but someone should tell the guys at the security that not everyone understands german, and also to explain how to position yourself in the body scanner and that you have to remove everything from your pockets, not only the metallic stuff... I was treated like a dangerous criminal by a rude security guy because I left some tissues and my passport in my pockets!

simply miserable, as is handled here with one. We sit in the plane for about half an hour in the parking position, until finally a transfer bus comes. And the suitcase issue is the slowest I've ever experienced ...

Worse than anything ever experienced, rudeness and harassment at check in and security control. Completely incomprehensible why this "airport" gets good reviews.

Slowest baggage claim of the nation. Unfortunately, I often have these problems in Hamburg.

I always have good experiences. I absolutely love HAM, undoubtedly worthy of one of the best mid-sized airports in the world!

Competent, clean airport, there is always a contact person even if there are problems. Exemplary against so many other airports. Good shopping possibilities. Just Hanseatic.

Awful experience. First my backpack gets pulled out for further examination. They force me to throw away a jar of chocolate cream, arguing it is liquid (???). Obviously after taking the backpack apart, they don't help me pack things again. Then, the plane gets delayed and no information is available at all. Even by German standards, this is awful.

This airport fails due to its own claims. Incredibly slow baggage handling and constantly far too long lines at check in and security checks. In addition missing at the gates partially sufficient seats.
Only the friendliness of the staff is to be highlighted.

Luggage took forever S-Bahn and train missed and the hottest of the planes came after us had his luggage earlier

It was very empty and the processing was quick and uncomplicated despite Corona.
Everyone friendly, the plane took off on time.

Airport area well signposted. Parking fee pretty high (25 min = 4).
Panoramic terrace and model show for a visit in between recommended.
Terminal itself clean and staff friendly and helpful.
Passengers arrive pretty quickly after landing at the exit.

For domestic flights without luggage great. However, receiving checked luggage can cost a lot of time.

The staff of this airport is truly uncivil, rude, arrogant and overbearing.
Male organized, open the bags without seeking permission from their respective owners and behave like real SS!
Now I understand why in the space of a century have sparked two world wars!

The greatest disaster ever. What is going on with the baggage claim is no longer to be put into words. To all those who plan to fly to Hamburg: fly to Bremen or Berlin and take the train! You will reach your goal faster !!

Hamburg Airport is an old-fashioned airport with many incompetent employees compared to Vienna or Berlin airports.

The selection of shops is limited, most restaurants close at 9 p.m. and there are very long queues at the counters!

It is also old-fashioned with tiles as used before the 21st century.

When we should have had our flight to Vienna at 19:55, it was postponed for the first time due to bad weather, which is totally okay.
But then the plane was there but due to the alleged "lack of staff" there was no bus that could take us from the gate to the plane.
We had to wait 2 hours for a bus and the airport manager had to come in person !!!
The staff there was not very empathetic and I even had to point out to the ground staff that after 3 hours we would finally get the free drink that we were entitled to after 2 hours.

When we finally got on the plane shortly before midnight, we got out of there at the last minute because Hamburg is banned from midnight from midnight.

So my opinion about the airport is very negative.

A nice modern airport with good connectivity to the city via trains. There were many shops and restaurants in each terminal. Restrooms were very clean and well maintained. There were a number of check-in counters and the airport area before security was very spacious. Immigration and security officials were friendly and spoke English. It did not take much time to clear security as my flight was in the afternoon.

For both my flights, a bus transported passengers between the aircraft and the terminal building. The airport also had a massage counter and few sleeping pods for passengers to relax and get a nap before catching their flights.

The airport is small but good. There are many restaurants inside. a Mc Donalds.

Incomprehensible! Waited for more than 1.5 hours on luggage. Finally pay your employees and service providers properly and FINALLY deliver service.

I feel like flying is not what it used to be. It's more of a mass transportation at any price. In addition, I have the feeling in Hamburg, it always takes the longest

We always like the quiet and relaxed atmosphere that prevails up here in the north of Germany in this airport.

The airport is quite clearly designed. Good connection to the S-Bahn. Parking is abundant. The security staff at the check-in should, however, again be trained in dealing with customers. Unfortunately I came across two extremely unfriendly colleagues. Friendliness costs nothing and causes no pain! That only marginally.

Overnight layover is a terrible experience. Only one terminal is open and it only has one little sitting area. Nowhere to lay down and rest. Not clean either Overnight staff is not friendly. Bad

Nice, clean, tidy airport. Plenty of food and shops.

Parking too expensive 1 hour 6 . Car is towed very fast. Otherwise staff is friendly.

This is an airport where you can find your way around quickly. You can ask any staff and get a reasonable information

Hamburg is a medium-sized, clearly laid out airport with a direct train connection and the city center can be reached very quickly. I didn't really see any security guards, other airports are more visible. Suffering, he doesn't really offer something to eat. and he doesn't really have anything to offer for shopping. I have never seen such a polluted airport and I fly to different destinations at least 10 times a year. The toilets here are probably only cleaned once a day. Had to wait 3 hours and none of the toilets visited was clean. Even with the star bucks and the coffee next to it everything was dirty and glued. Glad I was allowed to leave here again. The dirtiest airport I've ever seen in Europe.

Here you can wait 20 minutes on the bus to the terminal. You do not have to hurry, after all, the luggage comes only an hour later.

Don't take a backpack! One could conclude from the poor organization of the baggage check. Because: You are not allowed to hand it in at the snake-free self-drop-off. Well, it's like that more than once. But then you don't just have to queue at a "customer service / bag drop" counter just to get the baggage tag. But after that, as expected, you have to check in bulky baggage. If you have to go there anyway, why can't I get my baggage tag at the self-drop-off ??? Two star deduction, because that could be done much better for the passengers without any effort for the airport. Otherwise I find e.g. the car access and the waiting areas in HAM are actually pretty spotless.

Sadly, Hamburg Airport does not boast speed at work. Whether in the control or on the luggage belt .....

Unfortunately still problems / long waiting time at the baggage band

Sometimes considerable waiting times at the rush hour at the security check (belts were unoccupied), the last two times 45 minutes waited at the baggage claim, loveless lounge, tiny smoking cabins.

Today there is a POWER OUTAGE, no problem - as a stupid customer I have to understand that. As a courtesy, can I expect the next time that you will not close the counter exactly "60 minutes before departure" when you check-in (bag drop-off)? As a courtesy, may I expect you to keep the sanitary facilities clean, at least as standard? I've got used to the long wait for my suitcase when I get back. ; / Whoever is responsible for Hamburg Airport has probably never flown himself.

Depending on the time of day, I found the security checks during peak times to be very chaotic. The waiting times on the luggage belts have become better in recent months.

Very organised airport with close by car park. Who doesn't want to drive can also take the train with a trainstation directly in the airport with a regular daily ticket! No extra costs! In general flights are cheaper from other airports though.

Worst experience at airport, airport staff are so rude. Make sure you have a phone with translation app, only few people speak English
