There is nothing positive to report, except that in most cases it goes on vacation!
The duration of parking are in my eighth too expensive!
Badly organized airport. And in all areas.
How can that be:
if the plane is right at the gate, the first case after 10 minutes already come and the last after 60 minutes?
The plane has to wait 1 hour and 50 minutes for a take-off?
That the security check is always understaffed and this always when I'm there formed an eternally long line ??
Why can not such a modern airport run customer-oriented?
The problem is, there is no alternative in Hamburg and we have to accept that!

Waiting for the luggage for half an hour is normal here.
Air conditioning they seem to have turned down. It is unbearably hot!
Before talking about an extension, you should first do the right thing!

As already described here several times, the bus transfer to the aircraft is really underground. The gate is also changed at short notice (without announcement) and you can then walk through the entire airport. Could certainly be better regulated by those responsible.

It s just disastrous. The long waiting time on the luggage belt is not acceptable at all. We pay a lot of money for our flight, so we expect smooth processing even on arrival. Since we always travel with a dog and come from a third country (Turkey), we have to put up with a veterinary check. Despite days of prior notification and punctuality of the flight, we had to wait three hours for the veterinarian on June 17, 2017 and this was not the first time. Since I am in a wheelchair, I had to wait a long time in the machine before I was finally picked up. The cleaning staff had been at work for quite some time.
People always complain about Turkey, but there is no such thing as Hamburg recently. In Turkey a paramedic is available for every disabled person in a wheelchair, while here in Hamburg three wheelchair users are looked after by only one paramedic (also on May 13th).
Then more staff must be hired or no staff may be fired, but a smooth process at the airport must be guaranteed.
Kind regards
Bryan Jones

After punctuality landing 15 minutes left in front of a closed door, then piloted by the International Customs Control and only a shrug of the shoulder as an excuse. Travelers who are stranded (customs duty takes if there are other flights through there that are scheduled to be there) are stranded in Hamburg with "that's just the way it is". Not really worth a star

I have never experienced such a catastrophic check in. Of clear information to passengers really can not speak. Probably one assumes clairvoyant abilities. No wonder the staff is totally overwhelmed.

I was in Hamburg this weekend and wanted to check in on Sunday for the flight to Munich because I'm at a counter (I had already done an online check-in but I'm not sure yet) and the woman who sat at the counter has me really stupid turned on what I want with her then ...
I just wanted to make sure I was signed in for the flight.

At Vueling and Air Berlin usually short check-in times, very clean, reasonably good gastronomic selection. WLAN only 60 minutes free, sometimes longer waiting times than at other airports at the security check despite body scanners.

Great attention in general.

Great attention in general.
Ideal place to get close to see the planes and clear. It has cheap stores to consume while waiting.
Quite crowded

My home airport is a total logistical catastrophe. It's 11:45 pm. I'm waiting 65 minutes on my luggage with SAS from Copenhagen. There is no such thing regularly in any country in the world that is similarly well organized.

So far I have nothing negative to say. On the contrary. Am satisfied. Terminals and everything else clearly. Clearance smoothly. No problems with luggage. Sometimes waiting can happen. But I don't mind. So far so good!

If not the previous flight (with Ryanair), I would...

If not the previous flight (with Ryanair), I would have been happily giving 4 or 5 stars to this airport, since I've never (out of 8-10 flights) really had any issues there (usually flying with Eurowings) [e. g. stuff at check-in gate works 2-3x faster then in Hannover, the airport is built quite logicly by means it's hard to mistaken the right route to the gate etc., although the route to the last gates is really long], but last time I've got to learn, that this is probably not a 7/24 airport, by means the complete 1st floor (the whole operational section, e.g. check in gates, security checks etc.) opens only at 03:30. That means, that if you arrive very early, you will need to wait downstairs until they open the upper section and I've seen there people laying / sleeping on the cold marble floor, coz there have been no free seats available in that small section around the automatic stairs up to the 1st floor, neither at or around the small coffee there. I was shocked.

Stuff at diff check in gates also seem to be different, because e. g. by Ryanair my gf (flying to Marrakesh) has been sent away to check in later coz the guy said it's too early yet (1, 5 hours before departure) while he was checking in others (probably priority or so, although my gf had priority ticket too). So we had to come back later and ended up waiting in a way longer line. Still dunno why the older guy wasn't in the mood to check in my gf., his reasoning being too earlyn doesn't seem to be valid to me.
At Eurowings I have never had such issues. If the check in is open, I can check in, simple as that.
Update 01. 01.2020:
Damn why does it take soo long on this airport to receive the luggage??? Never waited this long at others airports... :(

Unfriendly staff at the self-drop-off of the luggage, we needed help and the staff stood around bored. When we asked for help, the lady from the staff was very annoyed and shook her head, apparently she barely knew herself and polite goes differently. Luckily we could help ourselves !!

Super long distance walk if your gate is located at the two ends of the airport. And very limited seating areas.
Two stars mainly for the efficient security check, but for the rest Hamburg airport is really below global average.

Checkin employees at the gate use drastic methods to force passengers to check in their hand luggage at Eurowings. The family behind me was immediately excluded from the flight with a final police operation. Thanks to the influence of various witnesses, they were still allowed to fly.
In the end we were 30 minutes late thanks to the staff. It's best to just ignore them.

The worst customs in the world they expect persons to import goods with german invoices.

Very quiet and relaxed atmosphere at the Hamburg airport. The staff at the security areas was friendly and sufficiently staffed during my visit. Guidance and signage in the terminals are clearly and well marked. All in all a smooth flow and pleasant stay.

Manageable airport in a big city. At peak times you should plan more time at the security check than at other airports.
Unfortunately, the airport does not have the Fast Lane under control, so it is always a bit crowded there.
Good is the supermarket and bakery in the arrivals area.
In addition, it is with the S-Bahn (10 minutes) fast in the city center.

As a Hamburg taxpayer, the parking fees are inexplicable. 20 min. 2 , 40 min. 5 and 60 minutes whole 7 !

Add to this the low seating in the arrivals area of the terminals. A handful of benches, maximum. 10-15 in number. Here one could and should increase significantly.

I would prefer not to give a star, but the one I have to leave because there is nothing to complain hygenic, but the staff is so rude and dismissive! We have now tried 3 staff to ask where we need to check in and all 3 have us with a very neutral tone abgewimmelt, in any case, a pretty vile experience.

Short distances from the car or public transport to check-in. Speedy security checks outside of rush hours. Short paths from the security gate to the gate.
But: Woe to him who wants to fly in large crowds or must! Especially at the beginning of the holiday and before bank holidays, the airport seems to me completely overwhelmed.
Also on the early (Monday) morning you should plan a little more time.

This airport although large has a small airport feel, and that is good. You do not feel squished in everywhere you go. After clearing security stop in one of the several restaurants just up the escalator before heading to your gate or head to the gate to find comfortable and plentiful seating. For international flights you may need to go through extra screening so do not wait too long.

Unfortunately very bad experiences with the luggage handling on arrival on October 03 made. Had to wait over 1 hour for the luggage. As a result, of course, very high parking fees (are already pretty hearty anyway). Will avoid this aviation in the future.

There are fewer and fewer direct flights, the approach from the north is tedious due to never ending construction work, the flights are very often, in my case almost always delays, boarding always starts late, boarding and disembarking is very often with long waiting buses because there are not enough of them, and permanent construction never ends. Relatively few check-in counters (if you did not check in online) or baggage drop-off, resulting in long wait time there.
It happened several times that one had to wait for the luggage due to the information of an unusually high level of sickness. The prices for the restaurants and parking, but as everywhere in the airports astronomical.
The airport is modern, the check-in at security checkpoints is fast. The range of shops and restaurants is great. For those who live in Hamburg, there is a good connection with public transport (S-Bahn, buses) in the city

The stuff was very rude to us. Nobody could or wanted to speak in English. They made us leave the trolley with the promise of giving us a temporary one from the airport that at the end was not available so we had to carry our child for the whole time...

Too bad that you can not forgive less than a star. Absolutely confusing and extremely bad signposted. In addition, the number of screens with the gates is very small compared to the monitors for advertising.

Do not come from Hamburg, but I've flown several times from there for cost reasons. My experience with this airport:
- Directions: Traveling by car from the south is stressful - either through the Elbtunnel (traffic jam), or across the city (also traffic jam)
- Parking in front of the terminal for loading and unloading: Very few, you have to have luck. Busy parking fee. The service of the airport in front of the terminal consists of one person who constantly writes down plates. Parking in front of the terminal in the arrival level generally not possible.
-Terminal itself is too small - at peak times (eg autumn holidays) form endless queues that almost go out the door
- Nevertheless, sometimes very long distances to the gate
+ Observation deck very nice
+ MC Donald`s :)
- After arriving in Hamburg, wait a while until the luggage arrives. And when it rains outside, the suitcases are soaking wet!

Bottom line with Ach and noise two out of five stars

Good, modern airport that is quite long. If you run from Check in row 1 to Gate A37, for example, you are on the road for a good 15 to 20 minutes. If the airport is full, you have to be there very early! So always pay attention and look where you have to go!
Otherwise, I always like to fly from my "home airport", which is our gateway to the world in terms of aviation. I am always amazed at how international Hamburg Airport is, even though it is only the size of a regional airport. Eating and drinking are easy to get at the airport! Tip: It's best to take an empty drinking bottle with you through security - free drinking water available!

I like our airport because:

I like our airport because:
It is close to the city
International
Has two lanes
No flights over the city during night
Rainair, eurowings and other lowcosters airport
Cafe to fly
