Arrived by bus, you have to walk over bumpy road with the suitcase for departure. The check-in hall is confusing, the security control with unfriendly staff !!!!! If somehow avoid it never again this airport. The cafes and restaurants are unkempt loveless really dirty in part!

Modern airport with many different shops and shops.

In itself a good airport, but today the parking garage was closed due to alleged overcrowding, although only 3 cars are parked there.

An absolute joke. Tons of staff lounging around, wasting time. Hundreds of people waiting in cues. Fast track security takes almost 20 minutes, solely due to the incompetence of the staff.

A small airport, very clear. Good access to the motorway and public transport. The staff is friendly. Short-term parking is very expensive, but if you park here for two weeks, you can already find offers for Velvet Parking from 79 . The waiting time on the luggage is sometimes relatively long.

I really enjoy flying from Hamburg. The airport is neat and tidy. It's very easy to find your way around and I've never had any problems. If you are a little later, you will find friendly staff who support you. Parking spaces have always been plentiful.
Unfortunately the shops close early, i.e. if you land after 9 p.m., you can only get something from the bakery in Terminal 1.

What should you rate as great? Smooth process ... Everything is fine! Prices at airports are always excessive, so I would deduct one point from every airport

As always an hour waiting in safety, and the workers do not try to work faster because they do not .... they will never miss a flight. Here you must meet the recommendation to arrive 2 hours before but at certain times you risk losing your flight. The worst security I have ever seen in an airport.

The baggage claim was a joke. Employees only help more. You have to do everything yourself: weigh the suitcase, luggage tag on it. The ticket scan works badly. Why are only more employees saved? I feel that as impudence !!!

One of the cosiest airport I have ever been to in Europe. There is relaxing lounge where you can watch landing and flying airplanes.

I visit a lot of airports, but I have never seen such waiting times anywhere else - here you wait longer for your suitcases than you fly.

If you do not have fastlane access, security control is a disaster. 45 minutes and longer are not uncommon on Monday.

Security personnel have very little regard for passengers. They talk to you with contempt. Even if you don't understand German, contempt is shown by gestures and looks. Very unpleasant experience.

For such a small airport, the check-in, baggage claim, etc. are badly organized.

Very good parking. Fast baggage handling. The security staff is very nice and helpful, making traveling with young children very enjoyable. With my big one there was already a joke to take the excitement from him. In the security area, there is everything your heart needs. Faster check-in. Prices are for an airport, ok. Many businesses.

It is a medium-sized airport, it is not small but not too big. In the toilets there are also smaller waters for children. Customs control was very fast, it is very well connected to the city of Hamburg, there is a train that has a passing frequency of 10 minutes. From the center taking the train takes about 25 minutes. It is preferable instead of taking out a simple ticket to take out. A 24-hour pass for all public transport in Hamburg train, subway, buses etc. if you get it for 2 people it costs each about 6 euros and a single ticket already costs about 2.40. You can also take out the 24-hour card through the internet. The card does not need to be validated at the ticket office. Well, the date is already printed, you just have to show it, if a reviewer asks you to, in Hamburg and in all German cities there are no ticket offices directly entering the station.

One train from Central Station. Highly convenient. Please note that the train will be separated at the station on the way.

Security check staff is really unfriendly, apparently they were not thought manners

for an international airport the gastro offer is very bad!

I traveled a lot, and to have such a limited wifi offer at an airport is really embarrassing. There could be more cosy cafe places inside, there are some, but they are definitely not cosy and of course overpriced.

Positive:
+ Clear airport and relatively clean (except the toilets)
+ nice airport lounge with friendly staff
+ The airport is very easy to reach thanks to a very large car-sharing car park and an existing S-Bahn connection
+ Staff at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) mostly friendly and quick handling there
+ Personnel who are employed directly by Lufthansa are always very helpful and friendly. Perhaps simply better paid and trained than some other airport staff? (More on this below)
Negative:
- Mostly unfriendly staff checking passenger in the terminal building. If you greet as a passenger with a friendly moin or good morning, nothing comes back. The I-Sec employees there don't seem to be particularly well trained in dealing with people. The waiting times have improved thanks to the new station system, but it would be even faster if the I-Sec employees also explained this to passengers who rarely fly in front of the checkpoint, as is the case at most airports who are now using the system. A TV that explains the principle, as in Frankfurt, would be enough!
-The tiresome issue of baggage claim, which has already been mentioned in numerous reviews. Long waiting times and the inability to put the priority luggage on the belt first do not contribute to the positive customer experience at the airport. If you hire cheap handling companies that are notoriously understaffed to make maximum profit, you get delivered as ordered. And whoever pays a minimum wage also gets a minimum benefit! This also applies to many AHS employees at the check-in counters and gates
-As already indicated above, the AHS staff at the counters is not exactly friendly and is not a good advertisement for Hamburg Airport. Since I travel very often, I can overlook it. For passengers who fly on vacation from time to time and are looking forward to it, I'm a little sorry that they have to have such a first experience on the upcoming trip. In addition, due to direct contacts, I know which contractual slouchers are being driven there by the dubious handling companies with the MA, so you should not be surprised that the sick leave is so high and the motivation is low!
-Toilets would have to be replaced and cleaned better

Conclusion: Due to its clear size, Hamburg Airport actually has the potential to be one of the most pleasant in Germany, but due to the delusion of profit, the operator simply cannot deliver the basics that one would expect from an airport that would be there: friendly staff with transparent employment contracts at check-in / gate as well as at checkpoints, efficient baggage handling and clean sanitary facilities. There are still two stars, because the GAT is quite ok and the good connection makes it easy to get to and from the terminal building.

You have to know that this airport service is extremely bad and dishonnest.
They are killing animals that are coming with air companies within their walls. Indeed, all animals should pass a veterinary control when on the German territory, however, they are incapable of telling if the animal is dead or not because they are lazy. Afterwards, they do tests on them WITHOUT GIVING ANY INFORMATION to the owners especially when the airport is GUILTY. They are hiding informations from the owners and are ordering cremation WITHOUT THE OWNERS CONSENT !!!!!
One dog died because of lack of oxygen. However, the airport DID NOT WANT to give any information whether it was in the plane or within the aiport.
Do you think it's normal ????

Nice clear airport, but the sanitary facilities are often dirty & not hygienic, compared to other airports.

A very poor operation this evening 15th Nov 2019. Delays in returning rental cars. Excellent desk service at KLM check in. Then unbelievable chaos at the security check, hundreds of people in long queues, very many of them worried they would miss flights, waiting for an hour or more to get through!

Fast handling, small but good selection of restaurants in the hall and at the gate, good! : D

The flight should go 2 hours ago but since there are too few buses we are still waiting ....

If you only have hand luggage, you can go through the security check at any of the terminals. The terminals are also connected inside. Unfortunately, the inside of the Deutsche Bank ATM was removed.

Good airport It seems new. It is relatively small but has everything. I found it a bit messy to get from where the cruise bus left us to boarding. We bought snacks inside, they were good and they were not expensive.

Coming from the S Bahn, there are no display boards in the arrival area that you cross for the departures with the check-ins. The security check is inhumane. New body scanners and everyone must then be scanned by an employee in a certain area. I praise the metal detectors where only about 10% are rechecked. The employee asked 3 times if I had a hidden zipper, which was answered in the negative three times. Then he pondered in my pocket.
Few catering options in Terminal A and certainly none that are cozy. Far too little seating for all the passengers in Beteich A40.
I will avoid Hamburg Airport in the future.

I was told that the airport of Hamburg was very small what I have seen was not so small I have seen one or the other small airport. The staff on site also very friendly and helpful. It even helped me where I quickly get to the main train station.
