Very nice restaurant. Good food, very good drinks. The service was very good. They made sure the drinks were always full and the dishes were promptly removed when finished. A little pricy, but not bad for an upscale restaurant in Hawaii. The seating had great views of the ocean and the beach. They have patio seating if you want a more outdoor feel or you can be seated deeper in if you want. I recommend having reservations, but you can wait, but it may take awhile.

We just came from this restaurant and it was my birthday dinner, the waitress took a long time to come over and then we said we were ready so we didn t hear the specials until in the middle I asked and then changed my mind. There were wild cats roaming around, which we didn t mind as we love cats but found it strange in a restaurant. Too pricey for the food we got and the service. Food was ok, nothing special- my husband rated the Ceaser salad a 3/10.The view was spectacular, we would go again and pay the price for the experience but probably eat in the bar.

I love, love, love the location of the 5Palms. Me and my 2 roommates went to the 5 Palms this year again for their happy hour. It was amazing! We had the sashimi, sushi, beef ribs, and a few other dishes from the h.h. menu. It was all very tasty and a much better price. The 5 Palms has a half price happy hour menu. So if you are in Wailea, Maui...go take in the 5 Palms, you won't be sorry.

Don t let the pictures fool you. We ate lunch here on Christmas Day. The food was average at best and the outdoor patio was dirty and unkept. I know outdoor eateries can be challenging due to weather conditions but as I stared at the old food caught underneath the glass top on our table, I lost my appetite even for the marginal lobster sandwich made with tiny chopped up bits of lobster. The taste was much more like a seafood salad, kind of. 2 stars as our waitress was attentive and friendly.

If your made of expendable money and have a bland palate, then 5 palms is for you. EXTREMELY overpriced and VERY POOR service. Very apparent in how the staff is dressed and present themselves. Every waiter/waitress wears what they want to wear, some wear runners some wear heels, some flats and some cross trainers....
The menu is a joke. It's only 2 pages. Nothing on the main entree is under $40. And what you get for that money is a big ass plate with very minimal food on it and probably under cooked at that. My plate was sent back and so were the people dining next to us. Drinks/Cocktails are watered down and filled with ice cubes for $12 a drink. Furniture in the dining room is atrocious to say the least. Flies and bird poop litter the floor in eating areas. The Bar is way to small to accommodate the amount of people trying to get their drinks. Honestly wouldn't come back to this place EVEN if I had FREE vouchers for lunch or dinner for that matter.
The only only feature that I actually appreciated in this whole debachery of a "so called" fine dining establishment is the view of the Pacific Ocean from the dining area. That is it. The only saving grace worth mentioning about this joke of a restaurant.

Always a beautiful place to watch the sunset. In addition, excellent happy hour that lasts 6 hours...can't get any happier than that! Delicious short ribs, brussel Sprouts and sashimi among other items to choose from. Always a tradition to dine here upon arrival to Kehei!

Nice happy hour. But really the food was definitely overrated and very very overpriced. Beautiful view from the patio to the ocean. But it doesn t make up for the lackluster taste of the food and overpriced bill

Nice place to eat breakfast with view. Whatever you sit with any table you will be able to see the ocean. Food was good. They have really delicious cake or huge pancake. Tastes amazing. Their coffee not so good so I had to return it. Over all I liked the place and it was worth it.

Do NOT eat here.

Do NOT eat here.

The food was very bland and sad. We went for brunch - I ordered the avocado toast and my friend got the crab omelette with a mai tai. Nothing was seasoned (maybe his potato chunks) but it was bad.

Instead of avocado toast I got store guacamole on croutons (that s how small the bread was) which was more of a baguette they cut into tiny squares. It was supposed to come topped with a bunch of lovely things but what I got was some black salt, one almond sliver, one onion slice and half a cherry tomato on the toast .

My friends omelette did have crab in it but he has to add salt and pepper because there was no seasoning to it. I had to add salt to my food as well which I NEVER DO.

The mai tai was also nothing worth mentioning. Not enough alcohol to make us forget about the horrible food we were eating. Sad sad sad

Not sure if it s worth mentioning that we were the youngest eating there by about 30-40 hrs difference.

Also sad because the service was nice enough. And the view was pleasant.

In comparison to some of the other places nearby, this isn't one I'd choose, even though we are staying right nextdoor. Maybe they were having an off-night when we went, but the staff seemed really depressed and just focused on getting the job done, nose to the grindstone. I don't blame them, I feel like that may be a reflection of management style - I don't know this is just a presumption. What I do know is we waited a while even for someone just to greet us and get us in. The people before us went inside to flag someone down they had been waiting so long. The food was good, and the happy hour pricing is probably worth it, but not the full-price menu. The fans overhead didn't seem to be effective at cooling. Overall I'd say there are better places to dine nearby, unless you want a happy (sad?) hour on the water.

Absolutely yummy food. Our waitress was so kind and cheerful. Thanks Katy!! Lovely, relaxing, beautiful environment. Our table had an excellent view of the beach and we enjoyed the gourgeous sunset. My husband ordered the ribeye, it melted in your mouth with good seasonings. I ordered the Sunset Special, I chose Kula Farms Green salad with a passion fruit dressing rather than the soup of the day. I chose the catch of the day, served in a cream sauce with Angel Hair potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms & asparagus. We were served one bread roll with passion fruit infused butter to start off. I ordered a non-alcoholic pina colada. It was creamy and delicious. Best one I've had. My husband ordered the Kona mud pie for desert. It was a huge slice of sweetness! I had the brownie which was topped with iced cream. I was so full I couldn't finish it but it was yummy. The pictures don't do 5 Palms justice. I recommend just going! The atmosphere is relaxing and romantic!!! :) Also their poke bowl appetizer was delicious.

Everything I have had here is good. Price is a little high in my opinion. Drinks(unless on happy hour) are over priced. Setting cant get any better being right on the ocean. That is worth something !

It was really nice as far as the atmosphere and great sunset views. Our waiter was really pleasant. The valet and hostess and host weren't as friendly and inviting. The food wasn't bad either. I would return as it was nice to stroll along the beach after dinner.

Excellent sushi, however the rolls are absurdly expensive and very small - as is everything else on the menu - Zagat's estimate of $34 is much too low. Terrible value, but very tasty if price isn't a concern. Wonderful view as well! Service was very slow however, though all staff were very pleasant.

Nice beach setting with beautiful views. Food was tasty but not great. Service was good. But two of our party got serious food poisoning six hours later. It must have been poor hygiene with whoever made the Mud Pie because that is the only thing they both ate, and nobody else in our party had the Mud Pie.

We had our wedding reception dinner here for a small gathering and it was so perfect. amazing food I like to try new things when I'm in a new place and the yellow fin spicy tuna was delicious and the best part was, because we were the bride and groom we always got our order's first tip top service Great staff very reasonable prices considering we had a party of 10. Let's just say it was less 1000 dollars. Awesome! Please try this place you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I had dinner at 5 Palms last week. We both had the fish special and really enjoyed it. They serve a small salad followed by the entree and a small dessert. We thought it was a good value.
We enjoyed it so much that we tried them for breakfast. We will definitely be going back. The setting is wonderful!

Was in kihei for a short 48 hours and four this supposedly amazing place. Made the reservation for 7 but arrived early and was quickly seated. View was stunning and we promptly placed our orders. We ordered the Kula Farms Salad and Island Style Carpaccio which was great. Then we ordered the lobster special ($45) and the "Pulehu" Pork Ribs ($43). Food came shortly after and they looked great but that's when things started to go south. The ribs were burnt and dry most of it. The rice that came with the lobster were dry and no sauce. Very plain. No one asked how's the food so we paid and left.

Will think twice before coming back.

We were there on New Year's Eve, reservation was easy. Menu was very special, unfortunately too special. I wanted to change the starter (snail is not my thing), unfortunately they were very inflexible, with such an appetizer there should be a bit of flexibility. The rest was ok, but in no way justifies the overpriced price because the quality doesn't match the price.

Worst food we had on Maui... We went here because it was supposed to be one of the best Ocean / Beachfront restaurants on the island. The view from the restaurant is definitely incredible which is admirable but the food we had was not good. We arrived for a late breakfast early lunch. The restaurant was not busy with only about 15% of the tables filled and the inside seating was empty. I mention this to indicate the kitchen nor staff was not slammed with orders. I ordered the crab omelette and my wife the coconut shrimp appetizers and the Baby Spinach Salad.

When my omelette came out I thought it looked pretty good . The potatoes were a nice brown and it looked fluffy and was smothered in Hollandaise Sauce. When I went to take a bite using my fork I had trouble getting a section to let go. What I quickly realized was the inside was burnt. Not just browned mind you but a 1/4 inch layer of brown egg. It looked as though it had set under a broiler for too long before being folded onto the plate. During the serving process the omelette was folded which made it a half inch of leather on the inside.. all carefully hidden by the extra helping of sauce on the top. I do not blame the wait staff as on the surface it looked passable. I had to use a knife to cut it...and omelette!! Definitely not edible! I did enjoy the toast and jam though. The jam was very tasty but at that point I was very hungry so you decide.

My wife felt bad for me as I tried to get someone's attention. The server was busy fielding a complaint from another table and I had to raise my voice to get her attention as she walked away. I had unfolded the omelette and exposed the burnt interior of what could have been a tasty dish. She agreed immediately and offered another but I opted to share the salad my wife had half finished. Much to my surprise the Baby Spinach salad with Blue Cheese and bacon was served with Feta and not blue cheese. I have nothing against Feta mind you but it was another indicator of the failings on our order.... The menu clearly states it is a Blue Cheese Baby Spinach and Bacon Salad.

It pains me to make such a big deal over one meal but it did not seem all that important to them that our food was so terribly wrong. Maybe they are so popular that people will come there regardless of the quality. We did love the view but it might have been better to just have drinks and hang out rather than invest in a meal. They did not charge for the omelette but did charge us for the salad. (Yes we ate the salad even tough it was feta and not blue cheese.) At that point it did not seem as though the complaints were either uncommon or a big concern. Once again... you decide.

We made reservations at 5 Palms January 23, 2020 and when we arrived we were super pumped for a fantastic meal as the setting was gorgeous over looking the ocean. I would like to mention that we have been in Maui for 2/12 weeks and have been blown away with the quality of food and started a joke that we were on a mission to find horrible food as we did not think it was possible especially in a high end restaurant with high end prices. Well, we found it. 5 Palms was a complete disappointment from the $15 cocktails, that I swear had no alcohol, to the $17 Kahula salad that was a handful of mixed greens thrown on a plate with halved cherry tomatoes arranged around the edge of the plate and a quarter avacado sliced in the middle. There was supposed to be passion fruit dressing but there was no sign of dressing, we had to request dressing on the side. We ordered the carpaccio, which we assumed was beef, but it was fish. We thought ok, if this was a good grade sushimi we were ok with it but it was not meant to be. The not so uniform sliced fish was sitting in a pool of soy sauce and sprinkled with chopped macadamia nuts and sliced jalepenos - very under whelming. Our main was the hoisin ribs and gnocchi. The ribs were almost completely all fat and the hoisin sauce tasted like it was straight out of the bottle. So salty and inedible. The gnocchi was the biggest disappointment and I m not even going to describe the glutinous gobs of what they told us was sweet potato gnocchi. The waiter was gracious and very professional and we felt bad for him because the caliber of the food was not his fault. We have been to an array of restaurants over the past 2 1/2 weeks that blow 5 Palms away. This place has so much potential to be a gold mine because of its location, I hope they can pull it together sooner than later.

Food had no flavor, I had to throw salt on everything just to make it edible. Also most of the food I ordered was dry, which leads me to believe they cook everything in batches rather than cooking the food when it is ordered. Save yourself some money and hassle and eat anywhere 1 mile up the road near the Cove

Great sunset view, monchong fish fabulous but the lobster was overcooked, once we finally got our food. Just an example a small bowl of broccoli soup was around $15.00. Made reservations a week in advance, only to be shoved in a corner table. Food is overpriced though we did get a discount after my husband complained about the seating situation. They gave us menu covers without any menu in it to start the night off, but our server was fabulous.

Reservation for 5 and seated promptly outside as requested. Was greeted by our server Brian who spent small moment to have a conversation. The menu was limited due to current world health issues but was full of options for any taste. Started with the sashimi platter and given ample time to enjoy our drinks and platter. Brian walked around the table to personally take our order as opposed to everyone yelling across a table. The wine I ordered was out but he chose a replacement to compliment my meal and was spot on. Was a wonderful dinner. Photo of platter through my snapchat and beach table view was through my Note9 night mode.

Go for happy hour (3-9pm) if you want to save some money. You won t get to seat right in the water but still will have a good view of the ocean.

We decided to seat in the main dining room to be closer and watch the sunset. We ordered sushi and a kids pasta. The fish was fresh and the california roll was exceptional!

The kids pasta was a little overcooked but I guess they overcook it for the little ones. It was also good but they didn t serve any parmesan cheese to go with it.

Make sure to try the lilikoi butter, it is creamy, tasty, whipped nicely and a little sweet. I could have had only butter with no bread. Delicious!

Pros: View was beautiful and atmosphere was great. Service was really good as well.
Cons: portions we're small and filet was not very good. Lots of fat and portions were small. Way over priced for what you received.

So disappointed! Our first evening out in Maui and everything here was such a disappointment. The drinks we ordered were barely average and our waitress smelled like cigarette smoke which was very unappealing. We started with the calamari. (I wish we would have waited for it to arrive before we had placed an order for anything else because we would have for sure left then) the calamari was honestly the worst I have ever eaten anywhere! Super bland, not seasoned at all with even salt, and didn t really even taste like seafood. We sent it back. We had also ordered the brussel sprouts and 5 sushi rolls. The brussel sprouts were just so so but better than anything else we ordered. Again they needed salt. (Oh and no salt and pepper on the table) Also, we had to flag down our server to ask for water which was never offered. It took forever for our sushi to come out and when it finally did it was actually room temperature to Luke warm. We picked at it but no one in our party of 3 like any of it. So needless to say we were very sad to think that we trusted the reviews we had read and went for what we were hoping would be a delicious meal only to leave hungry and more than 100.00 poorer. Would never return or recommend!

Went to the bar today at 11:00am to order lunch takeout and handed the discount coupon to a blonde bartender for 15% discount on entrees. She said there is no way she can enter the discount in her system for takeouts. I told her we were here two days ago and called in advance if we could apply the discount for takeouts and the manger said it was fine. She then basically called me a liar as there is no way to enter the discount in the system. I told her I will speak to the manager about it. While waiting for the manager she says to me I need you to sit at the bar if you want me to enter the order . I of course ignored her while waiting for the manager. When the manager arrived he said it was fine and entered the order with the discount. Of course there was no apologies from the bartender. I found here to be rude and lack good customer service. This is an opportunity for management to step in and offer her basic customer service or if she is unable to understand what customer service is then she should no longer work at the 5palms.

We went to get breakfast at this place and it was AMAZING!!! Everything from the service of our waitress, Margie, to the view of the ocean and the food was superior to any other place I've been to. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!! Pricy but this place is so worth it that you don't care how much it is! Loved it!!

Service was excellent, food was great, love the view, and enjoyed the atmosphere. Only complaint is the mud pie came to us frozen solid and it was very hard to eat. We used butter knives to cut through it.
