My husband and I just got married at The 5 Palms & it was absolutely incredible. The views were breathtaking and the food was awesome! The staff went above and beyond to make our special day everything we dreamed! Huge thank you to Bobby who got all this set up for us over the phone and email and answered all our questions month after month before the big day. Biggest thanks to Brian, for taking care of us specifically and being the biggest help to make sure our whole day went perfectly and he nailed it! Couldn t imagine having our wedding anywhere else than here! Thank you all for the most perfect day of our lives!

5 Palms Restaurant is on the beach side of Mana Kai Maui Resort and a great place for sunsets and happy hour specials. Good free parking is nearby or valet.

Great all weather covered seating to enjoy sunset. Beautiful and livley bar with great happy hour specials until 6pm daily. Our favorite is the happy hour Sushi which is half off during happy hour. Staff and first cladd, delivering excellent service. Enjoy your sunset at 5 Palms Restaurant.

We visited on our 30th anniversary, and the view was absolutely stunning. Our waiter, Conan, was excellent. I had the special TV hat day, red snapper encrusted with sesame seeds, and it was very tasty. My wife had the mahi-magic with red curry and wasn't quite as impressed--a bit too spicy for her tastes, and the fish was perhaps a bit overcooked. We had poke as an appetizer--my first time eating poke--and I am now a huge fan. It was fantastic.
If I could give a 4.5, I would. And an easy 5 for atmosphere and view.

Ambiance: Beach front restaurant perfect for date night! We arrived 530 just as the sun was setting. We watched the sunset from out table. Outdoor seating is surrounded by plants and palm trees. The tables were comfortable, spacious. You can finish your meal take a stroll down the beach.

Food was excellent! Both my husband and I agreed that the flavor profiles for each dish complimented each other well & everything was cooked just right. We ordered steak & lobster and catch of the day 3 close meal which included salad, entree & dessert. Steak was tender and cooked as ordered (barely needed to be cut with a knife). Lobster was juicy. Fish was fresh, flaky, and well seasoned.

Drinks: very good. Not watered down.

Service: very good. Our waitress was nice and efficient. They came and filled our waters and cleared excess plates multiple times throughout our dinner.

Loco Moco is so delicious. I had loco moco yesterday in other place, but loco moco in this restaurant is much better. It's the best loco moco ever I have. Also, the server recommended special menu(omelet with potato and brown bread), and it was also great.

Very mediocre food at very expensive prices. The waiter we had was totally clueless. There were four men sitting at the table and he walked up and said hello ladies and gentlemen. Once he took the time to look at the table he went oops.
Two of us ordered the rib dinner. I ate one bone and could not eat the rest of the meal. Don't order it you'll regret it. I thought maybe when the waiter noticed that I hadn't eaten my dinner he might ask me if there was a problem but again I was wrong because he was a clueless waiter. One of the guests had a filet mignon and thought it was okay.

I've been there for happy hour before and it was alright but I won't be going back there again.

The food is predictable but fine. I had a good mai tau. The setting is nice enough. And hey, you're in Maui, so you can't complain too much, right? That said, there's nothing particularly great about this place. The fish could best be described as having too much going on. The same for the pork ribs. And the prices are worthy of Midtown Manhattan (while the food is not).

They have done a nice job with the capacity restrictions here leveraging the lawn for table space. Being able to hear the water while eating is nice and I bet this place is epic before and at sunset. The host was cheery and pleasant, our server was very knowledgeable and easily answered my detailed questions on wine and my dish, though a touch too pushy on up-selling. The bussers were, ummm, untrained perhaps. Rather than setting water glasses, plates, etc on the table they kind of dropped them like they were mad or upset, and not just one but two of them, definitely disturbing to the experience. The food was nice for the price, but not great, I think you pay more for the view and would suggest happy hour instead. The filet was the highlight, it was a touch over cooked (more medium than medium rare) but it was tender and full of flavor, my guess is sous vide. The lobster was good, little low on flavor but it was atlantic so expected. My Ahi alone was fabulous, perfectly prepared, there were just a lot of flavors going on with perfect amount wasabi mashed potatoes, the bold in flavor togarashi sauce and then the basically onion and tomato salsa. It blended nicely but over powered the fish for me.

Worst birthday dinner ever! We travel to the islands a few times a year and have always had positive experiences out here with the locals until last night that was. It was my husbands birthday and we decided on 5 palms to celebrate. Worst decision of 2018!! I have never experienced such an embarrassing and drama fueled evening in my life!!! We ordered 2. Steak dinners, a whole lobster, sushi, appetizers,
and non alcoholic drinks. First my lemonaid came to me unflavored. It took over 25 mins to bring the flavoring. That s ok, but now I have water not lemonaid. She never had time for a refill, that s ok she must be busy. I ll drink the water the pre-server left 45 mins ago ( it took over 15 mins to meet the waitress) when ordering our food she was annoyed with ANY questions about the menu. At this point I believe maybe she is really having a horrible day. Then I hear her snap at the table next to me. The man was in shock to say the least. When my food arrives my steak is bleeding. My husbands steak is really red but not bleeding. After closer thought we realized I had his steak, but mine was still not medium well. When the server came back over 10 mins after ticket was served,.. I attempted to explain the situation. She abruptly cut me off and said The steak IN FRONT OF YOU!!! DO YOU WANT IT COOKED OR NOT?? At this point I said do not snap at me, please get me the manager and another,... before I could finish she literally turns her back and walked away. After a few mins I get up to speak to management. This women,.. walks up TO MY FACE in front of the hostess and everyone else and abrupty l says I am getting a manager and a server you can wait!!! Shocked I reply,.. GOOD PLEASE DO!!! After speaking with management he was very apologetic and returned my steak to the kitchen to be finished and placed my husbands under a heat lamp. I wish this was the end but it gets worse!! While waiting for our food I am speaking with the table next to us, they are very upset as well as the table behind them. While I m in conversation my husband looks for a restroom. It s at this point he stumbled upon the server and the hostess making fun of me for being upset. Making fun of me, my body, my hair (dreads and tattoos) he came to get me to tell me its time to go NOW. RELUCTANTLY he finally tells me why. I walk up to the ticket stand my self where these two are STILL laughing about me. And I quote server: hahaha she s so upset hahaha I can t belive she thinks I care I speak up. Excuse me I am standing right here! My husband heard your entire conversation! You should be ashamed of your selves your entire section is complaining right now. That s 3 tables sweetie so the problem isn t me it s your attitude she laughs and the hostess says wow you re right she s mad she then laughs and runs off to the hostess stand. At this point we re waiting for management to come back from the kitchen. A few mins later he joins us. I update him in tears as I am embaresss and humiliated at this point. I show him my husbands ID so he can see this is his birthday dinner and we didn t plan for a dramatic evening. He appologized and honestly I kind of felt bad for the guy. He clearly can not handle his staff. He offered for us to come back with our family and eat for free. That s 8 of us total I said. He still offered, we declined again but he asked us to think about it. We spoke about it as a family and decided against it. We are not looking for a free meal and only had one night to get away as a couple. So as nice of an offer it was it can not undo the damage. Money does not mean everything to us. We will never compromise our values for anything free. We won t be returning to this location.

Food, location, and ambiance were *incredible.* Best ahi tuna steak I've ever had (the glaze was fantastic). I also feel like the staff was extremely hospitable.

You are right on the beach, parking was relatively easy, and the "dress" of other dinners is like everywhere else on the island--I wore shorts, Sperry's and a nice, dark colored t-shirt. My wife wore a sundress and we weren't over or under dressed.

My only constructive feedback would be that we had something off of their beer menu, their wine menu, and their mixed drink menu and all three were pretty underwhelming. Not *bad*, just not the caliber I would have expected given the rest of the restaurant

I don t normally write reviews, but I feel compelled to after reading some of the comments here. We had a wonderful dinner experience last night. I was skeptical after reading some of the posts. After all, the views are incredible, so maybe the food and service didn t have to be. So wrong.

We made reservations online, and were greeted by a smile from the hostess and led to a table by the water. We were immediately waited on, and our server (Asha) was the best. We found the food and drinks served promptly, and everything was delicious. I had the Surf and Turf, hubby had the Ahi. I m sorry some of the previous posters had problems, we found everything great. It is a bit pricey, but if you want that special evening by the water in Maui, it s totally worth it.

This restaurant was fine. Terrific view overlooking the ocean out towards Molokini. For this, go around sunset. Also, a benefit for going at sunset is you have the option to get in for their early bird special. $30 for a 3 course dinner including salad, fish entree, and dessert. That is the only thing we go for. The thing is, the special ends at 6. So plan accordingly.

While the view was amazing, the food and service was awful. Absolutely zero flavoring of the food. The waiters weren't willing to talk about the food and made us feel like we'd inconvenienced them. Would not recommend. To anyone.

Not worth it. Food was nightmare out of 80s, no seasoning whatsoever. Macadamia rice is literally rice and mac nuts, nothing else. Too much time from order to delivery. There is a smell, like old oil. View is beautiful and hard to beat.

The chefs are mediocre considering the prices. For one, the korean chicken wings are small, salty, and probably pre-cooked. The coconut crusted prawns are advertised as 4 prawns, but it's just 2 prawns cut in half. The sliders were dry, and the amount of cheese is less than a teaspoon across 2 of them. The lobster roll was $20, and there were like 3 chunks of lobster just swamped in mayonnaise. The macaroni was okay. The mai tai was good, but half of the cup was ice. The view was good. Sorry for the bad review, but up your game, 5 Palms.

Went there for breakfast today. Really bad. Water glass had lipstick on it for starters. Decided to order the crab and avacado omelette. Worst omelette I ever had. Must have put it in the oven...it was liked baked...even the holandaise sauce on top was baked. Never going back.

A modest place. Overpriced and with really disappointing food. Inaccurate and not particularly courteous staff. In my opinion, to avoid. In Maui I have eaten better in all the other restaurants tried in about ten days

Overwhelmed server.
Food was sub par for the price. If it s past sunset the view is mediocre at best.
There are plenty of better restaurants to eat at for half the price.
I won t be taking my family to this restaurant again

This is a review for happy hour.

Positives:
-The views and ambience are on-point. Sunset was amazing.
-Prices are good and the value was too. We had the edamame hummus and spicy tuna roll. Both very good.

Negatives:
-Happy-hour cocktails are terrible. College bar quality. I know it's cheap, but could be better.

I'd highly recommend this place, just stick to the beers for drinks.

We felt very rushed and food arrived very fast like a fast food place. Food presentation was awful and tasteless. Location and view of sunset was great, but you could see that from the lawn outside restaurant. Go somewhere else!!!

The Hawaiian chocolate ice cream cake was the best cake I ve had in Hawaii!!!! Worth every calorie. The fish entree was high quality, but a little too peppery for my liking. My husband got the steak and it was delicious. I would recommend!

My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful sunset dining experience. The hostess was very friendly and sat us at a table with a 180 degree view of South Maui on the beach. We experienced excellent customer service from Tori T., our attentive and friendly waitress. We ordered the Sunset Special which included an entree, soup or salad, and a choice of 2 desserts. The fish entree was delicious and of high quality. We also had their spicy tuna roll and 3 sashimi appetizer. Overall, the ambiance was beautiful as we enjoyed a spectacular sunset, and the food was of high quality and delicious. Best of all, was Tori T.'s exceptional customer service as our server.

Although we arrived before 6:00, it took nearly 40 minutes for our appetizers to arrive. The food was good quality, and it was lovely to watch the sunset, but service put a big damper on our meal.

Spinach, Bacon and a light dusting a cheese would benefit from hard cooked egg and some red onion. I love the view at 5 Palms add the server was excellent.

Happy hour is a good deal, the dinner prices seemed pretty high. Get there before 4, or after 6, (which gives you an hour for the discount menu) cause lots of people know about the happy hour. The space has a nice water view, but is protected from the wind. The sushi and appetizers are perfectly decent.

Service was so fast, a very romantic atmosphere. Food was delicious and I still can't believe the seating we got. Right on the water, unobstructed view of the sunset. Very expensive but on a special occasion it's worth it

Unfortunately there are alot of trashy and snotty waitresses. Poor service with bad attitudes. Took friends visiting for 1st time for anniversary dinner. Sadly my friends are both very ill and husband is terminal. It was on their bucket list to come to Maui. Waitress said we had to hurry to order drinks as she didnt have time. Then we asked what the soup was and she said she didn't know and didn't want to go ask. Then we asked what were our salad dressing options and she said I don't know but I'm sure its fine..you get whatever the kitchen puts on. Salad came out with no dressing- never got any. Our mac and cheese with smoked hickory bacon and parmesan came out with no bacon or parmesan. When we told them they didnt bring a new one instead they brought out a couple strips of bacon (not smoked hickory) and no parmesan. The garlic fries had no garlic on them. The sliders were missing their cheese and we didn't get condiments we asked for no refills on water or drinks. But the worst part was the impatient snotty attitude our waitress had which ruined our night. She was so impatient and barely gave us the time of day. I called the next day to let the manager know what a poor experience we had and she offerred a $10 appetizer is all and made excuses for the waitress. After we spent a couple hundred of dollars for poor service and incomplete food served. We won't be going back as they could care less.

It's too pricey for a very average food. The same goes with the service, nothing to write about. They use to have sandy floor, way back. Now, it's updated like the other fancy places, which makes it uninteresting and not special. Most people just order their burgers.

Service and food was much better than a few weeks ago when I rated it one star.
Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that we were a party of six and thus bringing in more revenue. And, we were socializing and didn't notice how long it was between courses. We were there for 2.5 hours.
The prawns were better, not great, but not as dry and overcooked as last time.
Calamari was a surprise. If it didn't have a vague flavor of seafood you'd swear you were eating fat soggy French fries.
My steak was cooked correctly but sitting next to burned brussel sprouts.

My wife and I, we celebrated our wedding anniversary having a dinner the other night there. From the phone call without mentioning anything other than asking for a table to the perfect seating for a sunset, delicious food , a good bottle of wine, everything was perfect.
It exceeded our expectation, Thanks Tara and the whole crew, Mahalo

too expensive quality was very poor . we had 6 shrimp dinners all shrimp over cooked. Forget chicken we couldn't even cut it with a steak knife. We usually go there 5 days with 9 people no more . the wait was too long. They need new manager and cook that know what there doing. We go every year for past 6 years. No more

Amazing views for sunset. They have outside seating but even the inside tables are awesome, the windows are all open so you feel like you're outside and all tables and even booths are aimed towards the view. Had steak and lobster special, was great! Would absolutely go back

Ordered the prime rib and it tasted a little off and had a ton of grissle in it. Got back to the condo and a hour later started feeling sick. Have been throwing up for the last 3 hours. Pretty awesome.. Cause who doesnt want to spend there vacation sick from a 50 dollar steak......

Friendly service, excellent sushi at reasonable Maui prices. The ahi tuna steak was huge and fresh as can be served with yummy fresh fall veggies which are hard to come by in restaurants. The service was great and we enjoyed dining very close to the beach. I honestly think google ratings underrate this place! I heard they have a killer happy hour and wished we could watch the sunset from their porch - next time!

I had breakfast on the patio with a great view of the beach and the ocean, spectacular! The service was very good as was the meal, Maui Gold Omelet made with Hawaiian Pineapple, delicious! Also, my associates have recommended 5 Palms for perfect spot to watch the sunset.

I believe this one of my favorites in the Kihei/Wailea area. The views are lovely and the food delicious. Price commisserate with the view. Love it. Mai Tai was quite tasty. Yes wine is more appropriate with fish but I can drink wine back home. Mai Tai is Maui.
