Service was horrendous, coffee was cold, was there last year service this yer was so bad one would think they went to another restauraunt. No table manners , staff standing around texting instead of serving customers, will never go back

I'm not sure what theproblem was cause I've heard good things. We waited 10 mins until someone even ask if we wanted to be seated. I ordered fish and chips and my wife ordered pancakes..pretty simple....50 min later still no food. Group behind us sat down 5 min after us they had coconut shrimp and 4 other meals brought to the table..well dropped on the floor when their waiter fell down in front of them...10 or 12 mins later we just left. We live here and go out to eat frequently..I will not waste my time to return to 5 Palms

Excellent food and service. We went on a slow night. 2 of us had potato angel hair wrapped catch of the day. I had the filet mignonette in a wine sauce. Both were very good and tasty. I had the Maui Mule. (Hawaiian Moonshine with Ginger Beer) and was strong. One of us had the Slender Cucumber Mojito. It had no alcohol in it. When we complained they gave her another one which was much better. For desert we had the Lava cake and the Mud Pie. The mud Pie came with a huge glob of peanut butter. Done know what to do with that. Overall I would recommend this place although expensive.

Longish line for happy hour. Get here early if you want to enjoy a long happy hour. Mediocre drinks - stick with beer or wine. Generous edamame. Meh sushi. Asha was a great server. The hostess Sarah seemed to enjoy wielding power over the busboys and wouldn't let us move to the table next to us where we could actually see the sunset - our whole reason for being there. Would've stayed for several more drinks if we'd gotten to move. Won't be back.

We went here for breakfast and it was amazing! Menu had your standard breakfast items with a Hawaiian flare and terrific view. Kayla, our server, was amazing; she was charming and attentive. Thanks for the memorable experience!

I wanted to give the restaurant a 2 star but I am trying to be fair. Our server was non existent, we saw the other servers more often, he would fill half of our glasses and then never come back to fill the rest, and the food took a long time to come to the table and it came in odd waves, even though the restaurant wasn't even mildly busy.
Menu was also expensive with small portions. The ribs we ordered had little to no meat on them and the bok choy was way overdone.

We went to 5 Palms for the happy hour and were pretty disappointed. The happy hour is restricted to the bar area of their restaurant and has small patio tables and wobbly chairs that wouldn t sit stable no matter what we tried. The food selection during the happy hour was pretty bland and the sushi didn t taste very fresh. We tried the mai tai here and it was more juice and ice than anything else. Overall not a great experience, don t think we will be going back.

Mop string at the bottom of the fettuccine - all the food was destroyed not cooked - 1100.00 bill on a wedding party we were happy to pay - but 90% failure rate on service and quality - save your money (it s ridiculously expensive for nothing at all) and eat elsewhere - good luck !!

Honestly not impressed, service was abysmal, food wasn't the the best, but i could chalk that up to being on a Monday and short staffed. My meal seemed like it sat in the window and dried out, nothing against the cooks i bet it was amazing if i ate it right away. But the manager seemed like he didn't know what he was doing, i watched two tables just seating them self in tables that were for people who had reservations, and no one even stopped them. I saw sushi sitting for 20min or more, the time it took me to go too my car and go to the bathroom, and sit down before one of the 4 people standing at the hostess table chatting finally ran one of the 3 plates out. For a 45-50$ entre i expected a better experience and service.

So awful! We went to happy hour because it was recommended to us by someone local. The drinks tastes terrible (I had a margarita) and the food was overpriced and not one thing tastes great. We ordered the wings, hummas plate, prawns, and sushi. The sushi was the worst I have ever had.....including the fake stuff they sell at the store. Don't waste your money.

OK food. Though the gigantic roach that flew at me was alarming ... especially when it landed on me and tried to resist my efforts to deliver a beat down. It screamed "freedom" as it breathed its last. Place has a great view. Food has 5 star aspirations with high tourist prices to match.

Our favorite place for happy hour... Get expensive food and drinks for cheap! They have the best view!! Also its on my favorite beach, its great for swimming and long walks. There is always a line so go early, eat/drink, and then go for a walk on the beach while the sun sets

Great cocktails and food. Happy hour changes hours seasonally, but right now it was 3pm to 9pm. $8 Mai Tai, cheap HH rolls and apps. Ocean front dining. The regular menu looks pricey but food was awesome. We came for cocktails and a quick app and left for under $30. During the day we came back and grabbed some bloody mary's and greyhounds for $8 as well. This is really the only place we found that is right on the beach for cocktails. Sunset here is quite amazing as well. Get here early to grab a spot.

The only thing better than the view from Five Palms is the food. It is beyond wonderful. I had the baked pancake, it sounds weird, but it's beyond belief. If you can get there, go and have brunch.

Turkey dinner for Christmas. We stayed in the hotel next door for Christmas and because there were all kinds of restaurants closed, I decided to make a reservation here. We have eaten a delicious turkey dinner in American style; very nice and it tasted great! The service is reasonable, but the service is way too busy so it takes a long time before they bring you a glass of wine and that is a shame if your dish is already half finished. There is certainly something to improve! Furthermore, great to have dinner here on the beach.

The only saving grace is the beautiful view. I ordered the sunset special which included soup or salad, entree and dessert. The soup was cream of lobster, which tasted like Campbell's cream of celery with chunks of lobster in it. My husband found pieces that still had the shell on them making the soup unpleasant overall. For the entree, I ordered roasted pork. The pork chop was very tough from being overcooked and was very underseasoned. They served out of season and way overcooked asparagus and mashed potatoes. The whole plate was swimming in a gravy which had good flavor but was like a mask to all the flaws on the plate. For dessert I ordered the included brownie sundae. I received a small bowl of cold, uncooked brownie batter with cold fake chemical tasting fudge and a scoop of breyers vanilla ice cream. Let me share with you my special was one of the cheaper meals at $40. This place is very overpriced for such poor quality food. So disappointed. The wait staff was very sweet. My husband ordered the lamb rare and said it was decent but tasted like we could've made it at home for less money.

During our stay in Maui, my Fiance and I went to dinner with 5 of our friends who were also on vacation at the time. Five of our friends paid with cash and my Fiance and I paid with our individual cards, which should've each been charged $57. The total balance was roughly $405.51. We let the server know that we wanted to pay cash first and split the rest with the 2 cards. When the server returned he said my card did not go through, I was confused because I had checked my account earlier that day and I knew that I had $400 left, but without hesitation I gave him my credit card instead as another form of payment. Later that night, I got an email from the bank saying that my account had fallen below $25, I panicked, and when I checked my account I had $0.00 left while on vacation!! I then checked my credit card to realize that had been charged $57 twice, as well as my Fiances debit card. While at the restaurant we were not given any receipt as proof of these transactions, or any declined card, we were also not informed about the "mistakes" that were made with our cards. Also, while waiting for the server Jeff to bring back my card, another server walked by me and apologized for having him as a server because he is terrible and to watch out for my credit card! HER WORDS NOT MINE! I can't make this stuff up lol it was like I was in a movie! And my sushi took 40 minutes! WHAT!! I was left with no money in my checking for the rest of my vacation, and I also had to deactivate all my cards in fear that my card number had been stolen. We returned to the restaurant the next day to speak to someone in charge about what we had experienced the night before and the Director named Gary Smith was not apologetic at all! He kept insisting that his employee would never make a mistake like that, and he also did not do anything to try and compensate for their mistake, that left me with zero dollars during my vacation, which was a huge inconvenience and I will not be returning to this restaurant ever again. Food was decent, but good service goes a long way!

One of our favorite places to go and watch the sunset in January and February. Come for Happy Hour and take advantage of their specials. The staff is wonderful and we never had a bad experience here.

Taken here for a dinner date, I was completely enamored with this restaurant! We asked to be seated outdoors because it was a beautiful day. The location was phenomenal! After reviewing the options we chose a full course meal (pricey, but worth it!) The food was incredible! Our waitress seemed to think we were not worth conversing with, but that did not negate the beauty and astounding food we received.

What a beautiful spot out on the veranda. Beautiful sunsets. Staff were great, food was mediocre at best. My partner and I ordered multiple dishes. The mac nut encrusted mahi mahi, their signature dish, had no flavor. Im not exaggerating. Bread was delicious...they definitely didn't season the fish at any point in the cooking process.
Will go back again (been there twice on separate trips - food same result) because you can't beat the sunset. Oh and drinks were good too!

Delicious food. Something for everyone in family.

The views are amazing. After dinner walked on beach and relaxed.

I believe our food tastes great with the view.

Great for families.

The location is exceptional, especially at sunset, but the food is horrible.... The fish was too cooked; the table next to us had lobster and it was mushy.... Horrible food! Even the Mango Mojito was way too sweet... Go for a drink to enjoy the sunset but not for dinner...

We ordered ribs, calamari, and fried brussel sprouts... incredible! Can't even pick a favorite. I'd fly back to Maui just for dinner! Beautiful outdoor seating perfect for watching sunset. Only complaint is the seating on the outdoor furniture is VERY uncomfortable... no leg room for taller people so you end up sitting sideways if you don't want to risk dropping something in your lap! The food is still worth it :D

Vacationing from California and was given the recommendation to eat here. Absolutely loved everything that touched the table. The staff was amazing and the views and decor are beautiful. My party shared 3 different desserts and all of them were 5 star. If you're a foodie then it's an absolute most on your list!

Excellent location! Located right on the beach, this placed really gets it right with the ambiance. Gorgeous. Happened by because i was staying nearby. It's a bit spendy, but the happy hour sushi deals are excellent!

We were recommended this place for happy hour by a few people.

The view of the beach and water is spectacular, but is probably the only good thing about this place.

We ordered a Mai Tai and a Margarita, both of which were ok, but nothing to write home about.

We ordered the Korean chicken wings, curry shrimp, and the spicy tuna sushi roll. The wings were good. The curry shrimp were over cooked, and could ve used some more spice, but the bread it was served with was pretty good and great for dipping into the curry. The sushi could use some work. Rice was falling off, and just looked like it could have used more care putting it together. I would ve been disappointed if I paid full price for them.

The server, Brian, seemed like he didn t really care about us, and seemed insincere or disingenuous when interacting with us, kind of like he was just going through the motions. I hope it was just an off day.

Decent food, but a beautiful view! There's no AC and very limited fans in the restaurant so make sure to sit next to a window. Definitely worth a visit during sunset, but not my first choice for food.

Priced in the fine dining range, offers the service and food qualities of a much less formidable establishment.

Food was served after obvious trip to the heat lamps.

Only thing more ridiculous than the incompetent staff was the staph infection I got from the food. Sick all night after eating there, and lasting staphylococcus sores as a result.

Typically we enjoy all our drinks and food. The service and drinks in the bar were excellent. The ribs as a pupu were delicious but the calamari was not as it used to be. It was a smaller portion than in the past and overcooked. The rib pupu was very tasty.
Unfortunately, this time we were disappointed with a couple of our entrees, the lobster was dry and luke warm and the pasta was bland and luke warm. The lobster was replaced immediately when we mentioned it.
The ribs, salad and macadamia rice were delicious. All in all, we gave it 3 stars as it was not up to par.

We enjoyed coming to 5 Palms because we knew that we could get a variety of food at reasonable prices in a nice atmosphere. The staff has always be very welcoming and friendly, and the food fresh. We got the "En Bastille a la Waterfront" (it was opakapaka on this occasion) and a spider roll, along with mango mojitos. The only drawback was that the covered patio was very warm as the fan near us was not functioning, but it's hard to complain about that when you're in Hawaii of all places.

The only reason this restaurant deserves a star is for its incredible view.

This restaurant is in absolutely every way a disappointment. The food does not come out as described in the menu and is very underwhelming. You can see where the kitchen has taken short cuts. It is bland and way over priced.
The service is atrocious. We made a reservation for 7 on the patio, instead we were put in the stuffy back dining room with no view. As the customer you have to be the one to great the hostess as she is very inattentive and extremely rude. The tall blond that works in the bar area is very snappy.

See the view from the beach but eat elsewhere if you would like to have an enjoyable dining experience.

Food is awesome. View amazing. The staff is sub par for sure. They criticize and talk about each other while ignoring patrons. Some guy pushes a hand cart through the restaurant (manager type) adding to this displeasing atmosphere. STAFF DEFINITELY NEEDS TRAINING on every level... I cannot believe the owner doesn't see this behavior of his staff....ZERO CLASS for servers....EVERTHING ELSE IS EXCELLENT.

Excellent breakfast, I ate eggs, ham and potatoes and was very happy with my choice. We got the best table with the nicest views ! We were able to eat breakfast at 2 pm on a wednesday ! The service was a bit slow but being on vacations it did not bother us.

If I could leave no stars I really would. I am not the type to leave a review but my experience here was absolutely appalling. We came to celebrate the wedding of our good friends. While the service seemed nice at first it just went downhill. They set our party in the back corner with no fans or A/C. It was so hot I felt sick and they couldn t get the cold water to us fast enough. The restaurant wasn t busy at all but the waiter seemed too busy to give us any attention. We voiced our complaints about the heat and were told there was nothing to be done. This restaurant is in a hotel... was it that hard to go as for a fan? I guess so. The food was overcooked and very salty and really not worth the money. On top of that if you split a plate they charge you $7 even if they have to split it due to their order mistake. We had dropped off a cake earlier which was brought to the table. The waiter asked if the couple would like it cut. He failed to mention that such a simple thing would cost $50. Needless to say at this point all of us were over with the heat and this service. We were all polite, when it came time for the check the waiter did not ask if we would like it split and instead just assumed it could be on one. After we asked him to change that he made it seem like an inconvenience to him as he lectured us on why we should have asked. From this point he took probably another 30 minutes just to complete that one task. This was absolutely horrible. If it wasn t for the couple we all would have gotten up and left from the start. The lack of care and professionalism from both the manager and the waiter was the cherry on top. I will certainly never recommend this place to anyone or return to it.

Such a great wholesome meal can't go wrong with eating here if you want to feel fancy with the right amount of portions. They always have a special going on and the locals recommend the spot as well which means it's that good! If you stay at the Mana Kai Maui it's right downstairs overlooking the beach

The Five Palms is one of the only beachfront restaurants in Kihei.. I think there's only two others. The Lahaina area has more beachfronts restaurants. The Five Palms is beautiful, the food is great, but of course you're going to spend a little more because it's on the beach. If you want a nice dining experience in Kihei go to the Five Palms.
